721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you track bulk Bitcoin transactions being carried out by whales? on: November 02, 2023, 07:44:47 AM
On Twitter, there are some accounts that do this, and you can activate notifications if you want to follow such updates, but you cannot use them to predict the price because most of these deals are done OTC and at a price that may be different from the spot market, but sometimes tracking withdrawal may give a warning that an exchange has a problem. Or it was hacked and this happened rarely, so trying to track it with simple tools like this would not be a smart idea.

Glassnode allows you to analyze the chain in more depth with some charts and analyzes that you may find useful, but it is a little expensive.
722  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat & Crypto - Effective Expert Advise on: November 02, 2023, 07:23:07 AM
Defining more financial stability is what makes your strategy completely different. Are you looking for a long-term investment so that you have enough cash if you are fired from your job or decide to give up work, or are you looking to be wealthy so that you live a life in which you do not need to check the "PRICE on the PRICE TAG." Investing is a game of continuous learning, but to be a successful investor you must learn discipline and have a specific saving strategy. Then, the simplest investment strategies such as Bitcoin DCA can double your investments in the long term without any investment experience.
723  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk: Error 504: Gateway time-out AGAIN on: November 02, 2023, 07:06:52 AM

Is everyone experiencing this error too?
Is this also the same error as yesterday?
Since it is Error 5XX, It is a server error and you can only wait until things return to normal, but be prepared that this happens randomly and once every two weeks to three hours and often happens between 3:AM UTC and 10AM UTC.
504 Gateway Timeout Error almost indicates that the main server was unable to access the database, whether the problem was from cloudflare or from the database.
724  Other / Meta / Re: Image ban or tagging, is it possible? on: November 02, 2023, 06:47:57 AM
You can't get banned because of posting someone else image, but for getting tagged by DTs it's still possible depends on the case.

This case was the example where someone claimed if those artworks were created by him, but he actually stole someone else artworks.
The reason for this may be that the images are not hosted on the forum, and if you have stolen an image from somewhere, you will inevitably host it in an image hosting service, which will inevitably delete it whenever the intellectual property rights are available.

It is true that you will not be banned, but you may get negative trust.
725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LastPass hack - move your crypto assets to a more secure place right now! on: November 01, 2023, 02:05:20 PM

A password manager selling its own vaults which leads to major losses for its own customers? That's a bit far fetched if you ask me, because if that were true, it would certainly mean the end of LastPass (if not already).
The code is closed source, so I can make any claim and it will be difficult to prove otherwise. Facebook has sold user data and still has growth in its user base. I am certain that if FTX returns to work, you will find some people willing to trust them again, and this is not the first time lastpass has been hacked may not be the last one

Even opensouce option, you may need to add  a second layer of encryption
726  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Start now or later? on: November 01, 2023, 01:50:53 PM
Next to Bitcoin you can mining some POW crypto like Litecoin and Dogoin, but at the end, the rate of profits compared to cost will determine whether mining is successful.

Are you sure that you can buy mining devices, operate them and make a profit that covers operational costs before 1/2?
If the electricity is not stable in your country, and it can be cut for hours a day, then mining is not an option for you. What is the average electricity costs KW/h.

Have you calculated the costs of the lost opportunity, which means that if you purchase bitcoin now, will you achieve better profits than mining?

I advise you if the taxes are not high in your country (here mining may save you a lot of tax money), it is better for you to buy bitcoin
727  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which sites to go to gather Crypto information and news? on: November 01, 2023, 01:03:06 PM
Coinmaketcal (L not P), coindesk,  and Coingecko are good but  I recently discovered that these sites may intentionally or unintentionally publish misleading news do not rely on them to make investment decisions. There is a section for Bitcoin in many news and economic sites  obtaining Bitcoin news as a package of your daily economic news has become easy and from sources that can be Trust it, especially if you have experience with stock market
News services are not a good place to make decisions about investing in altcoins.

Bitcoin.com is bad one they misleading Bitcoin as BCH
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool almost empty? on: November 01, 2023, 12:50:46 PM
Every few weeks, the same question is repeated in a different form, either astonishment as to why Bitcoin transaction fees are high or astonishment as to why the mempool is empty. In both cases, it is an opportunity for you to reduce fees by reducing the number of entries and thus lower fees, especially with bc1 withdrawal addresses.
Does anyone know of any service that gives email notifications when mempool is empty or any API that integrates with mempool.space, that would be nice and easier to reduce my average TX fees.
729  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to detect a scammer with grabify.link on: November 01, 2023, 12:10:30 PM
If you want to avoid scam, be prepared to ask many questions before sending. Only send to an escrow or to someone you can trust.
You can make your life easier by choosing another trade partner. I do not want to waste my time by asking many questions for a simple trade that can be done quickly.
Sometimes the available options are limited and you are forced to make the transaction. It is rare to find someone who has high trust, is online most of the time, and has a good exchange rate. Mostly, those with low trust are the ones who offer better exchange rates or services to attract customers. Sometimes the risk saves you a few dollars and  maybe makes it easier for you to be scammed.
It is true that it is almost impossible to avoid scam but at least do not let them scam you more than once.
730  Economy / Economics / Re: Marketing Strategies in the Digital Age on: November 01, 2023, 11:59:03 AM
I hope that digital advertising will move away from targeting the largest number of views, so that the ads will be customized according to what the customer wants, as I ignore YouTube ads when I can search for thousands of pictures and comparisons before purchasing a specific product.
The transition of advertisements from being purely commercial advertisements to being specialized and indirect, as happens in TikTok, is what changes watching advertisements from being an unattractive experience for someone searching for advertisements. Facebook provided a good experience, but unfortunately the quality of their algorithms has declined in recent years, turning to profitability first.
731  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoins on: November 01, 2023, 11:22:26 AM
1) Were the words in understandable English, or were they incomprehensible letters and words?
2) What is the date that file was created/modified?
3) What is the file extension? Is it txt or did you open the file using Notepad and it worked for you?
4) Are there any additional files, names of wallets, or any additional information?

I think you opened an encrypted/encoded file, so your answers to these questions may help us a little.
If the words are in English, make sure they are in this list

732  Other / Meta / Re: How to write a Ban Appeal. on: November 01, 2023, 11:14:09 AM
If you are banned, this is the forum's way of preventing you from making money from your account, and the reason for this is that you did not adhere to the rules of the forum, so even if your account is unbanned, you will be prevented from wearing a signature for a long time.
You provided a good explanation, but I think that unban differs from one case to another. Was the plagiarism to make money as quickly as possible, or was it something useful and valuable, but you did not respect the literary right of the writer?
Its differs from account to account, no matter how many words you write
733  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Securing your Bitcoin talk account on: October 31, 2023, 11:18:39 AM
Signing a message or proving account ownership using PGP signatures is good if you want to access your account if it is hacked, but one of your suggestions is bad. If you restrict IP addresses for the last 30 days, this enhances privacy, but it may not be good in the process of recovering your account because the recovery team has less information about you, thus making it more difficult to verify that you are the owner of the account.

this one is bad

Using a clean email address and having it on a separate phone that you do not use on a daily basis will greatly enhance your security.
734  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BTC private key generates wrong address. on: October 31, 2023, 11:06:20 AM
Are you the account owner? Or were you part of a team, because I read your post history and you seem to be someone with technical experience that would enable him to at least formulate the question more accurately, quote here.

The screenshot makes it easier then, you can do this;
1. Go to electrum, in the derivation path, tick legacy and put m/clientid (m/489) underneath or
2. Use iancoleman.io/bip39 listed above(beware, using this may compromise your seed)
put the seed in the mnemonic box and change the derivation path to bip32, select custom path and put m/client id (m/489).

A private key can generate two addresses and since it starts with K or L (Base58 Wallet Import Format), then inserting it into Electrium will give you the correct address, or the private key you are using is for another address.
based on above quote you already know iancoleman.io and derivation path so I think you know this Huh
735  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to detect a scammer with grabify.link on: October 31, 2023, 10:46:20 AM
Let's assume that you knew the scammer's IP address and were unable to hide this address. What would you do with this information? The IP address will provide you with basic information such as the country, geolocation, and at best a map of the user’s movements, and without cooperating with the service provider or with law enforcement agencies in your country, the IP address is not sufficient to access information such as home address, name, phone number, or any personal information.

This is whether scammer is in your country but what will happen if he is in another country. Here you need security cooperation between the two countries or an attempt to arrest him using INTERPOL, which are things that will not happen if someone defrauds you of $100.

I do not want to be pessimistic, but even if you know personal information such as his real name, passport and home address, you may not easily be able to recover the money.

If you want to avoid scam, be prepared to ask many questions before sending. Only send to an escrow or to someone you can trust.
736  Economy / Economics / Re: Biting more than i can chew. How can i do better? on: October 31, 2023, 10:13:07 AM
We cannot give you golden advice, as we may be in different countries, with different income levels, and a different definition of wealth, but in all countries of the world, unless your income is higher than your expenses, you will continue to suffer financially. Reduce your spending to a reasonable amount, leave yourself two days a month for luxuries, buy luxury clothes every 6 months, and calculate your income. If it is equal to your expenses, then look for an additional source of income to invest in. else, then you must change your job or at least reduce your spending.
Your health condition is fine now, but as you get older, you need more money and you may need to start a family, and therefore you should not think about friendships, especially those friends who love you because you have money.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I, we, run a bitcoin node? on: October 31, 2023, 09:59:11 AM
In some regions of the world, the option of running a full node is not possible due to the slowness of the Internet, as downloading the blockchain may take several weeks. Here, these people must use SPV wallets, or at least trust a trusted person who manages a full node with a connection via Tor.
If you have the option to manage an entire node, you should do so, not to enhance privacy, but to decentralize the network.

You don't need 1TB SSD for OS and code/software. Although these days SSD with 1/2 or 1 TB capacity have good price/capacity ratio than SSD with lower capacity.
I don't think storage will be a problem as the cost of TB/USD is falling every year and Moore's Law says it will fall even further.

738  Economy / Economics / Re: Us-Based Crypto Exchange Kraken to release significant data to IRS on: October 31, 2023, 09:39:50 AM
This should not be surprising, it is a central service that collects and maintains data, and they will inevitably provide it to advertising companies or the government, so you should expect that once you use these platforms, your data will be sent to the government sooner or later, directly or through a third party. Will it be considered tax evasion if the data you provided in your tax return is different from what is contained in the Kraken data?
you may need to move this topic to legal board.
739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LastPass hack - move your crypto assets to a more secure place right now! on: October 31, 2023, 09:22:01 AM
Also if you even think about storing sensitive things like seed phrases online, you better encrypt it with a second layer of encryption such as GPG. There's no way anyone is ever going to break through that if you secure it properly. But still move your funds anyway if you can do it safely.
Adding a second layer of encryption would be good, but for a long time I have thought that the vulnerability is in Chrome extensions or other extensions. They are cute and add features to browsing, but they are bad in terms of privacy, and I honestly do not know how hackers can benefit from services like LastPass if they recommend that users add a second layer of encryption.

I have a theory that they are selling data and covering it up by saying that the service has been hacked.

LastPass password manager is closed source and I don't know why someone would trust such app with the safe storage of his/her seed phrase, private keys and other sensitive information.
People care about synchronization more than whether the service is closed or open source. People want to access all services from all devices without leaving the password for each device.
740  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ⚠️ Freewallet: the scam project that threatens thousands of customers on: October 31, 2023, 08:15:21 AM
This is unthinkable! I sent the company a photo of my ID and a selfie with a piece of paper with my name written on it. But even this did not help to unlock access to the wallet
They are selective scammers and we have thousands of similar stories, some of which were resolved after scam topic tops lists of first Google search and some of them were unable to restore his money, all you need is to create an independent scam topic with all the details and try to make other topics in Reddit, Twitter, and you may be able to access your account, once when you get it withdrawal it and do not use them.
