Since your transaction was first broadcasted then it is clear that it has been dropped by the node or server your friend is connected to because of the low transaction fee, it is possible that it might be broadcast and not all nodes received it. Just try to follow the procedure by TryNinja and simply broadcast a new transaction
722  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: -26: txn-mempool-conflict - code: 400 (Trust wallet) on: September 24, 2023, 05:26:13 AM
Just like others have said, you’re trying to spend a transaction using same client as the one that broadcasted the first transaction which is yet to get confirmed and since the node already has it then it is a conflict transaction and is seeing as a double spending which could get it dropped.

What you will do is to broadcast a new transaction from a different wallet so that it will be broadcasted by a node different from the first transaction. You can also broadcast the transaction from https://blockchair.com/broadcast if you have raw transaction HEX.

Or better still import the seed phrase into BlueWallet and try to get the old transaction RBFed or if you have the first transaction receiving address then import that wallet seed into wallet that supports CPFP and increase the transaction fee of the first transaction
723  Other / Meta / Re: Request for sent merit edit button on: September 23, 2023, 02:06:21 PM
Some months ago, I was doubting whether to send 2 or 1 sMerits to a given post, and ended up sending 21. It happens every now and then.

I recalled seeing a script to go with Tampermonkey that, though created in origin to speed-up somewhat the meriting process, was later enhanced to include an interface that could come in handy to reduce these type of mess-ups:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2833350.msg52249695#msg52249695

I guess one could yet evolve it to add a second confirmation for sMerit amounts sent when larger than X (a second confirmation for any amount would become a nuisance and, in any case, drive people to click yes by force of habit).

What actually messed mine up was like I just saw the post and was like let me send 2 then saw I had 24 smerits and in my head I would have 22 left after sending that two, then it was the 22 I ended sending. Maybe that’s punishment for hoarding something that was giving freely to me. But would have appreciated I splashed them on many posts or even a thread created not just a random reply.

Second confirmation would be actually helpful. But maybe things like this is teaching one how to avoid mistake on this crypto space, imagine it was bitcoin, I would probably be on drips now.

724  Other / Meta / Request for sent merit edit button on: September 23, 2023, 10:26:08 AM
Woke up this morning and was going through some threads and wanted to merit a post. My intention was definitely to send 2 merits because to that post and then got carried away and mistakenly sent 22, I didn’t even notice until I saw my smerits drained, yeah it is ok to spend all smerits but definitely the amount to be sent should match the content of the posts.

My reason for this post is shouldn’t we have something like a second warning when the confirm button is clicked, like ’are you sure you want to send this amount to so so’

Secondly shouldn’t we have a patch on editing merit sent even if it is for a specified time like how the edit button doesn’t reflect edited when it is done immediately the post is made.

PowerGlove is there a way to go round this?

Definitely pained to have wasted all my smerits on a single post.
725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can third-world countries counter inflation using bitcoin? on: September 23, 2023, 06:10:01 AM
Bitcoin has played a significant role in how transactions in developing countries are conducted at international level and also aided in them having something to invest or save their money into without been worried in any way of devaluation. Before the use of bitcoin for this many of the citizens of developing countries usually save their money in top fiat currencies like dollar just to beat inflation heavily affecting their own local currencies but the amount of this international currency like dollar’s available to them is not enough and also getting then through banks is a long procedure, right now bitcoin had breech that gap. Not only about saving into bitcoin but many from this developing countries can now purchase goods or services without converting their currency to any international currencies but rather with bitcoin from platforms that accept bitcoin as payment.

or hold onto their tokens as an investment.

It should be noted that tokens shouldn’t be used as investment because most of them do not have a long retention period and as such they should be as just things that can be traded. An investment is something that can be hold for a long time and only bitcoin has that potential
726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are some good, trusty casinos that support crypto as payment? on: September 22, 2023, 02:28:35 PM
There is a comprehensive thread by Pmalek which listed almost all casino’s that do accept bitcoin. I somehow trust the list since it is updated regularly, here is the link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5333602.msg56883071#msg56883071

Another thread is Again is by notblox1 about casinos to avoid, at least this will help you to narrow down your search. Here is the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5283832.0
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Operate Bitcoin Core on a laptop with restricted storage capacity on: September 22, 2023, 03:58:07 AM
I have read on the forum that it is possible.

Yes you can use an external hard drive to store the data directory but you might have to manually specify it since bitcoin core will not know it is on the hard drive. So when you start the client just specify that the dir is on the external drive not the system hard drive where it is installed on. Here is what I saw on how to specify it

Code:
bitcoind --datadir=<your_external_drive_location>

This YouTube video might help https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mLCOW6KkbQM

Note the external hard drive might always be connected when using the bitcoin core
728  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN HALVING COUNTDOWN IS ON – WILL CRYPTO PRICES RISE? on: September 21, 2023, 09:32:36 PM
My wild and educated guess, at least $100,000 as the benchmark for a new all time high. But don't quote me on that, as it is just some prediction on my end, just some numbers that pop up in my mind.

But as what others have explained, yes in the past halvings, it just shows that after some months, the bull run will start and right after a year, we might have double the last ATH already. But it's just the start as it could still continue up to 2025 last quarter and established a new ATH for this block halving.

I am also predicting or say speculating at a price beyond the 100,000$ mark at least that would be the like a double of the current all time high. The new price will probably be witnessed around mid 2025 since the bull run is at its peak almost a year after the halving period has occurred. The only thing that can affect this from repeating it self is some conditions surrounding the market like exchange news and other regulations which could also have there own impact on the the market too
729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is FullRBF allowing double spend? on: September 21, 2023, 07:12:43 PM
We all know that this is not theoretically about the vending machine but about a potential real following practical case:

User Joe finds the private key of puzzle xx and empties the puzzle's account by performing a transaction to his own wallet (say for example with 30sat/vb). He now has to wait until at least one confirmation takes place before the coins arrive on his wallet. Now, dozens (maybe thousands) of pre-programmed bots are listening 24/7 on the Bitcoin network, waiting for just such a moment. The bots are triggered by the outgoing transaction of puzzle xx where coins are being spent , the pubkey of the transaction is revealed and is immediately chased through the prepared cracking machine to calculate the private key via Kangaroo. If the privkey was quickly and successfully found by user Mallory while the transaction of the actually successful puzzle hunter (=Joe) has not yet received a confirmation in the network, Mallory could generate a new transcation with RBF and enter 100sat/vb. The chances that the coins will reach Mallory's wallet first are high.

What Joe can do about it? Well, what do you think

With joe still having the private keys to that wallet then JOE could still get access to the new transaction by Mallory to his Wallet and as such if the RBFed transaction by Mallory is to get a single confirmation then JOE can also do another RBF by using a fee higher than that of Mallory (100sats/vbyte).

The funny thing again will now be that Mallory will notice it also and it could be a battle of RBF unit one of them gets his to have a single confirmation

This is a public forum filled with people with different perspectives and from different places, so one thing I found helpful is that what you feel like is offensive or insulting might just be a way that person communicates from there side. So just like i have read other members say, one needs to grow a very thick skin here but if you continue to get upset by the way some members communicate then it would be best to actually ignore them, that is if you also are not repeating a mistake all round that got everyone pissed like creating multiple threads without any proper information or any thing substantial and help in them
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Secure Your Legacy, Educate Your Loved Ones on: September 21, 2023, 06:32:38 PM
Nice thread OP, we usually take things for granted because we feel we are health and death wouldn’t come anytime soon. But that is not true it can come anytime soon. As such of a bitcoiner has some investment  in bitcoin they shouldn’t keep it to themselves and should share the recovery seeds with their children, Kins or trusted allies, just like the Death Will is updated regularly bitcoin seeds should be updated on it also once purchase  some.

If you have plans of them not spending the coins till your stipulated period then just use the lock time process and set to your desired date.
732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 20, 2023, 10:10:16 PM
Barcelona have issues with La Liga FFP rules unfortunately so they aren't able to spend a lot of money for transfers for now. This was why they couldn't sign Joao Felix permanently.

However this is still not a problem for Barcelona currently. Because their current performance level is quite satisfying. They have just destroyed Antwerp in the Champions League by a big gap. I felt like we were in good old days of Barcelona.  Grin  Felix is really impressive since he joined them. He is playing for his dream team of course. I have never seen him this ambitious.  Smiley

The lad is definitely enjoying is time at Barcelona and this is the player we all knew from his benfica days. If you ask me I would put it out that I am not that surprised with his form because he had it. It was just a the club he went to that doesn’t fit his profile. Atletico Madrid is a club that plays defensively and flourishes on counter attack, the pattern of play by Simeone’s men require players that have such energy in them to track back and move forward when needed but we all know that Felix isn’t at that level physically had that is why he had a fell out with Simeone.

I see Barcelona signing him permanently if he continues with his recent form. Although Barcelona are having trouble with financial Fair play they would pull something out. For the past three seasons now Barcelona have been in this situation and have miraculously been buying players which I think is fishy
733  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 20, 2023, 09:58:42 PM

I don't believe that the bank was someone able to solve and transfer your money the balance reflect in your account in 10 minutes after not being able to do in 2 days, you said he had proven that he had sent the payment with documents, by chance can you compare the proofs with the current transfer as I tend to believe that as in many cases he didn't pay at all the first time and only under pressure and maybe because of a good fluctuation in exchange rates he agreed to do so!
I can't really tell if he never did or did the transaction the first time. But from the alert I received I can see two different dates 14/09/2023 which is the first day of the transaction,  and the second date 15/09/2023 was the day I received the payment.

He definitely didn’t pay the first time, he just came up with a fake transaction receipt, if OP had actually copied the transaction ID on the re receipt and contacted his bank with that information they would have told you that the transaction didn’t exist then. This case are very common on centralized exchanges so do not believe any documents sent to you with the fake promise that is bank error not allowing the transaction to reflect on your account. It is easier this days to get a fake transaction receipt of any bank
734  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Simple Reason Why Bitcoin and Crypto Prices Must Fall to Zero on: September 20, 2023, 09:32:19 AM
It's funny how all responders here ignore the argument at hand and just write stuff completely unrelated to it. The argument talks about the difference between speculative and real demand. The usual crypto propaganda for attracting speculators cannot refute it. The difference between speculative and real demand is so simple to comprehend that there is no need to say anything more than what was said in the opening post. Let alone respond to all those ad hominem and non sequitur comments.

What is real demand? Certainly a case where people or investors go after that thing. Bitcoin because I wouldn’t generalized it as cryptocurrency has grown in price simply because of people wanting it. The Number of users or adopters are massively increasing isn’t that a demand. Now talk of fiat currency, what makes other currency more superior than the other ones, it is simply the same demand thing. Bitcoin can be use to pay for debts since that’s the only attribute you listed about fiat if only their is agreement to use it to pay for such same thing as other commodities can also be used for clearing debts.

Yuh said something about bitcoin not been used in history, their is time for the start of everything just like how cowries where over throne by some printed papers ( fiat) and also just like the way internet was perceived not to have value, bitcoin is growing in strength.

Here's a thought: you opened an account on Bitcointalk because you saw value in doing so.

Probably to get attention and his pissed no one is giving that to him.
735  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All newbies should be aware. on: September 19, 2023, 09:55:26 PM
There are so much risks on joining several airdrops and the benefits to match the risk isn't worth it. Phishing links can be sent in such airdrop emails, airdrops are means scammers uses to entice unsuspecting victims although this is not to say that some airdrops aren't legit, some are legit.

But you can try to limit your risk and get a special email address you only use to join in on airdrops and you make sure to have antivirus, 2FA on your device for additional protection to be secured.

In the early days of altcoin projects it is through airdrops that they spread the news of the coin. Once many people get a few token they tend to focus on that project and this way some could even invest into it. This way the community of the project increases. This was the aim of airdrops during the early days of cryptocurrency but right now this airdrops are strategies by scanners to get into once wallet. Immediately an airdrop demands purchasing gas fee then it is likely a scam. Another is the linking of once wallet directly to the site of the project doing the airdrop.
736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The best way to use fingerprint to unlock your bitcoin wallet on Android on: September 19, 2023, 06:41:34 PM
This isn’t possible with iPhone later than XR because they don’t support fingerprint.

This idea is a bit tricky because I think you need another app called the app lock to be able to use this procedure you stated. If it is so, isn’t it a very bad idea to have you wallet embedded into another app again. You never know what details that could be exposed to the app lock
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Just HODL But HODL Wisely and Securely on: September 19, 2023, 04:20:56 PM
One of the key things or elements before one starts to hold is the security of the wallets, many new investors actually do not pay much attention to this and lose their funds in that process. Both long term and short term holders need to use a reputable and widely accepted wallets. This is one of the reasons why many experienced investors are of the general opinion that wallets that are not connected to the internet are usually the best for holding.

Many newbies find it difficult to settle for a particular wallet, although they are new Wallets that with exciting features but my preferred choice is always old tested and proven wallets that many users have attested to, rather than a new wallet without proper or much review
738  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction on: September 18, 2023, 09:43:24 PM
Are you recommending copying the destination address and amount and pay from the wallet instead of clicking the wallet option from the site ?

Yes it will be better to write the receiving address into the website rather than connecting them together. One more thing be careful of the way you copy and paste, there is also clipboard malware that is becoming very common now. So even when you copy make sure you’re pasting the right thing by going thoroughly through it
739  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction on: September 18, 2023, 09:28:26 PM
Probably the number of confirmation might be the issue. My major concern is you moving straight from the website to electrum wallet which means you have connected that wallet to the site. For security purpose it is a bad thing and if possible you need to take your funds off that address because it is expose to online website and can easily be compromised
740  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: September 18, 2023, 06:33:08 PM

Where are the market sentiments affecting the market gradually, and where is the narrative support behind it? I can ask plenty of questions on it as the topic doesn't hold any semantic and substantial load in it. I may have admired the post if OP had mentioned some recent developments that might get skipped from many other users, any on-chain activity report, and anything that should at least meet the time zone.

The points listed by OP are just general observations used to explain to a newbie why bitcoin has increased but this can’t be the actual point at this moment. Things like market sentiment or even the news that Mt.Gotx are ready to return investors hacked funds could have been better in this particular case. Not so many cases I would say that is causing the move that warrant a thread other than side way movement by investors either selling or buying due to the up coming halving
