That still won't make up for the missed dividends of the past 2 months.

The longer this gets ignored, the more I suspect foul play.  Angry

It's very clear at this point that Garrett has stolen his investors' money, and he doesn't even attempt to come in here and defend himself.
Anyone thinking he will come through with 20TH is much more trusting than I am. I have sold my shares and will not continue to place my trust in Garrett. I would strongly urge others to do the same as it seems very clear that this operation is a ripoff.

I mean, these questions have been out here for over 2 weeks and it would take 5 minutes for him to come on here and explain, if there were any other valid explanation.

Add this one to the long list of bitcoin related scams.

It's not clear really at all, and there is no evidence that there has been any theft. Circumstantially, it looks sketchy for sure, and I'd love to see some evidence one way or the other.  Garrett has had past opportunity to run with the funds like we've seen with many others. Twice now there have been exchange shut downs and these were perfect opportunities to run or pull a stunt like gigamining did.
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is doomed to fail, and there's nothing you can do about it. on: December 16, 2013, 11:25:39 PM
According to Barry Silbert, CEO at SecondMarket...

"Phase five

Family offices may be the largest investors now, but if, as Silbert believes, institutional investors get involved, they will be the largest group.

“Phase four is going to be Wall Street, so Wall Street [will have] bitcoin as an investable asset class,” he says, adding that we should expect to see this in the coming year.

All of this heralds the fifth and final phase of bitcoin, which will be mass consumer adoption, according to Silbert. That will happen in 2015, he says."

That promises to revolutionise the way people deal with money, driving efficiencies into the process and potentially saving people money. But for that to happen, the first four stages are necessary to evolve the virtual currency and drive liquidity into the market.

We’re still at the start of phase three, and liquidity is still limited, he says. That means that consumer users will lose a significant percentage on any exchange. This stops consumers from saving much money when using it as a form of money transfer, he says, adding:

“The reason is there’s just not enough liquidity at either end of the transfer. But if the monetary base of bitcoin grows to be $20bn, $50bn, $100bn, all of that becomes possible. So I believe that the monetary base needs to grow first before the promise of bitcoin can be fulfilled.”

Yes i researched and Bitcoin is .0005% of the worlds population, retard much? Everything I have mentioned in the OP are well known documented issues, again retard much? Maybe you should research mental retardation hopefully a picture of you doesn't pop up and you can get the help you deserve.

While your* at it, maybe you can learn better grammar so you don't give yourself away being from a shit 3rd world country, with malnutrition, causing you to fail at grasping simple concepts and ideas.

I didn't lol, but close.

but are they "real"?
pretty sure i would have heard about it if there really was one.
Ditto. I'm very well meshed in the FPGA/ASIC community and have not heard of this yet. If they are legitimate, I will take a historic perspective and estimate an additional thee months (*ahem, Avalon*) to one year (*ahem, BFL*) on delivery.
Right now, I strongly agree with investing our reserves in Litecoin hardware in the GPU variety. Are there any disagreements with this?

FPGA and ASIC are possible and some prototype exist. The problem is the production.

I have no idea how long it will take, if we look at the past with Avalon/BFL this could take half a year or a year.

In the mean time we should go for smart and optimised GPU mining.

+1 Asics might be coming but we should be moving on GPU now.
725  Economy / Securities / Re: 1 year nastyfans on: December 12, 2013, 04:37:57 PM
1 year ago nastyfans auction opens. I post some fun facts about the first year of nastyfans...

  • the first nastyfans seat sold for 0.44889676 BTC ($6.01)
  • today a nastyfans seat sold for 0.0509 BTC ($46.06)
  • during the year 6,121 seats sold on the auction (total of 1,901.29932868 BTC)
  • during the year 558.95573924 BTC donated to nastyfans
  • during the year 1 seat accepting donations received 0.03887740 BTC
  • 11 fanclub polls executed
  • NastyPool created: p2pool node with no fees; server costs and donations through merged mining
  • minted seats created: 77 seats minted already

There are many things still in planning. It will be fun to see the list in December 2014.

I thank the fans for making this fanclub so much fun to be with!

Cheers! Thanks for your work and dedication.

Should we negotiate another shipment with Cointerra with our current stock of BTC?  Any other ideas?  We need to keep the hardware coming continuously with our capital.

Better diversify and invest in scrypt mining.

im down with ltc mining as soon as cards are back on the market, there is nothing to be found!

One month delay for cointerra and our shares go down by about 30 pct... There hasn't been a single ASIC-generation miner yet that was delivered on time.

Au contraire, HashFast is set to deliver their first batch before the Dec 31 guaranteed delivery date.

Giving money to Cointerra was a terrible mistake.   Undecided

If this statement was AFTER delivery, I'd say thanks Captain Hindsight. However....
728  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | NASTY POOL on: December 05, 2013, 02:26:01 PM
With BFL possibly delayed and CoinTerra not having shipped their first batch yet, I am getting a bit antsy.  I was hoping that KnC would have allowed us to order their next get rig, but by refusing to take orders from new customers, that puts us in a wait for the end of the line with them.  For that reason, I'm considering placing an order for this:
http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/prospero-x-3.html

I've cashed out our alt coins and donated around 1/2 the funds to our holdings address to help repay debt.  The other 1/2 I currently have sitting in USD.  I was planning to wait for an LTC ASIC to become available, but I think we could have enough funds to place an order with Black Arrow and still be able to afford an LTC ASIC without taking on any more debt.  Thoughts?
The numbers seem to crunch well provided it is delivered on time. http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/b550be5d33

90c/kWh?

oops, thanks for catching that. should be .09 c/kWh   http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/0fc5f57e7f  I'm not sure what Nasty's rate is but it's likely higher than .09 but lower than .9

I'm usually defending Garrett, I consider myself the 'voice of reason', and given the few talks I've had with him I feel like he's a pretty cool dude. That said...

1. The poor communication is not cool.  However, it's been said already, either Garrett will take it to heart, or ignore it to the determent of COG.  I hope the former.
2. If mistakes were made, a pool ripped us off or malfunctioned (a pool having luck that bad for that long is highly unlikely - technical problems or scam are more likely explanations) then fine - tell us that.  But without understanding the cause of the under-expectations returns, we have no way to know if it was a fluke, or something that impacts future returns as well...
3. Yelling at Garrett, Threatening Garrett, Threatening to sell COG, etc are all unproductive.
4. If available, data about our payout address / mining details would be super nice to help substantiate and understand what happened over the last 2 or so months
5. Moving forward, having a non-public payout address is simply not acceptable.  I can't think of a single drawback and it has every advantage to address the naysayers and add much needed transparency.

Occasional stints of poor communication aside, you've done a fine job running COG, Garret, I look forward to you addressing these issues.

Thanks!

Hello all,

I do aim to resolve all of the issues at hand, and I apologize for this, but it is simply not feasible for me to read the forum more than once a day every day. You all ask a lot of me, and I ask to please be more patient in waiting for responses from me, so long as I do answer in a timely manner.

I have come up with a plan to satisfy all of these questions. Do do this, we're going to set up a way to view realtime and historic charts of Cognitive's hashrate, live payout address & balance, and possibly a live video feed of the miners, which will be available at http://cognitivemining.com/charts

I have not been logging hashrate so far, because there has been no demand for it. All of these things will be up and running by January.

I do understand the increased concern for the transparency due to the increased value of our coins, and I respect that highly. Moving to a pool where we have a dedicated payout address is the simplest and most important step to take, so I will do this before the next dividend, so we can start out the next dividend-week with the same payout address. Then there will be full transparency with the financials, because as we all know and love, bitcoin doesn't lie Smiley

This is good news.  I have received my CogF shares to my account. Thank you.
731  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 03, 2013, 11:18:37 PM
but we ended up getting 1/3 of a block?   is that right?

If it was actual solo mining (not p2pool), he got 0 blocks with it. Solo mining cannot yield fractions of a block.

Whatever coins he was able to mine, he got them from pool,  mineb.tc, as he says.

i know he can't get a 1/3 of a block solo mining. my point was there is so much missing information we have no clue what is going on.

as someone who hold 700 shares and bought many of them over .6 BTC each im starting to get pretty pissed off...

I am in pretty deep as well. Garr, you had best come and talk to us here with some explanations. Silence is not what we need to hear.
732  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | NASTY POOL on: November 30, 2013, 02:54:25 PM
I believe this coin is the first of it's kind. It is an awesome concept that will probably now be copied by others. I believe these coins will be worth far more than their current value as time goes on.
733  Economy / Securities / Re: FeedZeBirds UPDATE Feb 9, 2013 on: November 30, 2013, 05:44:29 AM
Thanks for the update Grin  There has to be some qualified folks around here interested in taking this project on.
734  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | NASTY POOL on: November 29, 2013, 11:21:25 PM
I frikkin' love the coins! I love that they're worth two things that change over time -- an investment in BTC and a mining pool at the same time. It's a very cool idea, and would make a great gift. Anxious to hear the price.

Don't forget the silver! That's three things Grin
735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 29, 2013, 03:52:37 PM

My forecast... channel breakdown suggests a correction back to around 1090. Then probably sideways for a few days. Charts need to be a lot more flexible, anyone have better chart space let me know!

There was one that i liked a week back showing that we were entering a pterodactyl pattern

clearly, it's now a humpback giraffe pattern. sheesh.
736  Economy / Securities / Re: FeedZeBirds UPDATE Feb 9, 2013 on: November 29, 2013, 02:40:33 PM
I think it makes no sense.
The project has long been abandoned.

Well fine then. I want what I invested back. Not the USD equivalent from that time, but the full btc value. Erik Voorhees needs to make things right or have his reputation ruined here.
737  Economy / Securities / Re: FeedZeBirds UPDATE Feb 9, 2013 on: November 29, 2013, 05:07:25 AM

UPDATE Feb 9, 2013: People have been (understandably) very anxious as to why the site has been down, and no idea about how shares will be handled since GLBSE disappeared. I'd like to provide an update. I also encourage anyone interested to chat with me on skype (acc: evoorhees)

1) I'm current working to get the GLBSE FZB database from Nefario. Once I do, we'll get it re-listed, likely on BitFunder.

2) I'm paying to have the entire site redone professionally. It'll be very nice.

3) Once the new site is up (1-2 months) and the shares relisted, I'll start marketing it again. It will have a live support agent to help newbs learn how to use it.

That's the plan. I apologize for the months of sub-par service with this. The FZB holders deserve better, so that's what I'm doing now. Thank you for your patience thus far.

If AM is not merge-mining NMC yet - now would be a good time to start as NMC is currently valued over $13 on BTC-e.

As margins get smaller, let's not leave money on the table.

It's crazy. Only a few months ago NMC was only $0.06 per coin. It has gone up more than 250 times since then.  Shocked

Why couldn't I see that coming, could have put 1 BTC in it and now could have had 250 BTC if I had sold.

Coulda woulda shoulda.  If you spend time thinking about what you could have done, you miss out on the potential opportunities presenting themselves right now.
739  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] (HIF) Havelock Investments Fund on: November 28, 2013, 04:42:43 PM
great start to the IPO on havelock.

HIF last trade ฿0.00015100 - down nearly 80%

It wasn't the best ipo but price of last trade has risen to .0005  today
Havelock used their funds from the IPO to buy everything below IPO share price?

We'll see if the price holds. That is a possible conspiracy theory though.
