721  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we should prioritize investment over saving on: February 14, 2024, 08:15:08 PM
Let us correct that kind of mindset, Investing doesn't work like a magic wand that generates money instantly. Even if you invest in a popular asset, you still need to have a good understanding of the investment and the necessary actions to take in case of unexpected scenarios. It's crucial to educate ourselves and make informed decisions when it comes to investing.
Moreover, patience is very important when starting an investment, because as you said, it doesn't bear fruits instantly. Sometimes you have to wait long periods of time until your investments start generating profits, and to give up on the middle of this process can be a very bad idea which will have as consequences unrecoverable losses which could be simply avoided if the investor were patient and kept his assets or investments untouched for longer.

Nowadays people are too impulsive and immediatist that they want everything for "yesterday". And when things start getting too long to happen, they become desperate and start looking for solutions on the present moment, when there isn't any. I believe part of this mindset is due to people listening to virtual coaches who promise instant profitability and easy life without efforts and sacrifices. They completely adopt the illusions promoted by coaches for their own lives, expecting those illusory scenarios to happen on their realities as well, so they close their eyes for the potential adversities which may also happen. They don't weight pros and cons. Instead, they focus only on pros, because they are told by coaches to think positively in every scenarios.

In the end, they aren't taught how to deal with unexpected challenges, so once they face them, they simply don't know how to act properly, resulting in impactful mistakes which totally compromises the investments. If patience were a cultivated trait, though, things could be different...
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STOP telling people how much Bitcoin you have on: February 14, 2024, 08:04:26 PM
I hate these new social media trends where people walk up to strangers on the street and ask things like "how much do you pay in rent" or "how much money do you make a year"...ignore them!
These can be constructive informations if you are looking for a place to rent or to compare the yearly income of a professional who shares the same career you belong. I have to know how much people are paying for a rent in a determined area if I'm moving myself to live there, otherwise I might be going to rent a place which charges an abusive price from me. Moreover, I have to know how much professionals from my working field are being paid to conclude if the payrates being offered to me are inside that payrate margin. And if I can help someone else with these informations about myself, I'm glad I can help enlighting them on these matters, since I have also been on their shoes in past situations, so I know how it feels to be confused about it, while having no one to ask about.

If there is a constructive purpose behing the doubts and questions, there is nothing wrong with that. I think what should be avoided are curious, gossipy and whisperous people who just want to know details about your life for no reason at all, and especially to kill some time and have something to talk to other people about, since they don't live their own lives as they were supposed to do. Then of course you shouldn't give any personal details to them, because there isn't any productive purpose from their side.
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you holding any gaming based altcoins? on: February 14, 2024, 07:45:51 PM
I still hold some SLP from Axie Infinity I earned by playing the game in 2021. Since they have been too cheap, I prefered to not sell my tokens, as it seems to not worth at all... I don't have much hopes they can still get valuable in the future, because there isn't a considerable demand for these tokens anymore, but who knows. Better to hold than sell for almost nothing, otherwise you will be just paying exchange's fees to receive dust of money in counterpart.

Anyway, I don't have any plans about holding other gaming altcoins anytime soon. These altcoins are purely based on speculation on most cases and don't bring long term benefits to holders and investors. I would only change my mind if a decent and enjoyable blockchain game were launched, so I wouldn't be acquiring the altcoins only for speculative purposes, but also to play the game and take advantage of its features. In that case, consequently the game would be a huge success, becoming more profitable for everyone involved on the project.

It means that when a game is entertaining, it's also more profitable, because automatically demand for the product is raised organically, instead of focusing only on dumb and temporary speculation, which is pretty artificial.
724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin become extinct? on: February 11, 2024, 08:48:51 PM
What are the chances of bitcoin going extinct?
The same chances of internet, electronic devices, electricity and an apocalyptic meteor hitting the Earth. That is, the only chance of Bitcoin going extinct is through preventing people to have access to it definitively. These scenarios look really unlikely, but not impossible, anyway, as we are under constant threats of wars, pandemics, crisis, shortages and natural disasters. Some of those events can trigger the extinction of Bitcoin, or make money and assets worthless for humans' survival, so people would completely lose interest for Bitcoin to focus in more immediate things related to their existence.

Bitcoin remains important while people have long term goals focused on thriving and improving their lives. But once such long term goals cease existing due to external factors like the ones mentioned above, Bitcoin loses its importance as well, as most of every other goods we appreaciate so much in our capitalist daily life. Moreover, once a new technology arrives and replaces Bitcoin, it will get naturally extinct. However, something like this to happen will take a long time yet...
725  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you beleive in the concept of "Luck"? on: February 11, 2024, 08:36:10 PM
I believe luck does exist. It's a mysterious factor nobody can predict when it's going to happen or how and what we have to do in order to be hit by it. Some people are naturally lucky, while others seem to never be blessed by this factor in their lives. There are different theories and hypothesis for luck, but none of them can be accurately proved or tested empirically. Therefore, they are all speculations. I like to believe you can increase your potential chances of being lucky if you take a positive and active approach towards life. That is, if you have good will, do your part on the daily tasks and always try to improve yourself as individual, while not being harmful to people around you.

In gambling, however, luck is a more scarce factor yet than in life in general, as we know and have the assurance only a minor portion of gamblers will be able to profit from this activity, while the majority is going to lose money on long run, the more they play. That is an immutable reality, which keeps the industry sustainable and profitable for casinos' operators. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any casinos around available, so the only alternative for gamblers would be to gamble among themselvse (PvP gambling), what would inevitably decrease the range and popularity of gambling practices in the world, as there wouldn't be so many platforms and apps disponible anymore.
726  Economy / Economics / Re: "Shrinkflation" is coming back as a narrative on: February 11, 2024, 08:14:58 PM
Because the economic situation in some regions of the world continue to worsen, politicians are using newly invented economic terms like "Shrinkflation" to to blame the companies as being too greedy, and to "rationalize" the effects of printing too much money and having too much debt - that the government may never repay.
Quote
First usage of the term "shrinkflation" with its current meaning has been attributed to the economist Pippa Malmgren, though the same term had been used earlier by historian Brian Domitrovic to refer to an economy shrinking while also suffering high inflation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrinkflation

Politicians are used to take advantage of every terms they find useful for their own personal agendas and goals. However, it doesn't mean we should neglect or disconsider such terms as valid ones for our critical thinking over what is happening in our modern societies and how we are being negatively affected by the changes in the markets, especially the food market which is directly impacted by Shrinkflation.

Anyway, as quoted above, it wasn't politicians who created terms like Shrinkflation. It has been being used by economists and historians along the time who have studied enough to consider this theory, which nowadays can be easily verified by anyone, just by comparing a visit to a supermarket few years ago, to a visit to a supermarket right now.

I believe as Bitcoin HODLers, we should welcome more money-printing because Bitcoin will absorb some of that excess liquidity, and make the price surge. But it should also make us more distrustful of the policy makers because they know there's no "Shrinkflation", only inflation and the negative effects of money-printing.
Shrinkflation is a consequence of inflation. Both coexist together. And money-printing just accelerates the process.

It's actually not possible to deny the existence of Shrinkflation phenomenon... On the other hand, you can debate how innocent companies and businessmen are in this situation. That is, you can argue if you think they are greedy, or if they don't have any choices besides decreasing packagings' sizes to survive in the market.
727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which project/token brings you the most profit? on: February 11, 2024, 07:43:54 PM
  • Which project/token brought you the most significant profit?
  • How did you use profit?
  • What impact did your success have on your life?
1. Bitcoin. Even though I started the adoption without any money on my pockets to invest, I tried accumulating most satoshis as possible through the different online offers we had disponible on the internet to earn. Meanwhile, I kept improving my English skills to be able to access more online opportunities, also aware about the fact if you don't understand English, you are an illiterate in this globalized world. If you were a faucet user between 2015 and 2016, it was possible to make 40,000-100,000 satoshis daily relatively fast (20$-50$ daily, considering current Bitcoin's price). By just saving that income for the future, look how much money someone could have made by now.

2. I have been using profit made from BTC to pay bills, rent, education, food, travelling, car aquisition, help family, purchase clothes and accessories. Of course, not everything at same time, but I have already used Bitcoin's profit for those purposes. And I hope to use it for even greater deeds futurely.

3. If I had money to invest when I firstly heard about Bitcoin, I'm sure I could have become a millionaire by now, but since I had to start from zero, the impact on my life was much milder, although I can't complain in anyways, because Bitcoin has been helping me a lot, since the beginning. I have many positive affective memories about it, as I see my trajectory in crypto universe as something very rewardable and promising.
728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How my gambling life started. on: February 11, 2024, 07:27:50 PM
Time goes that it becomes unusual that we began to feel offenced and rebelled that we as relatives(1 family) are extorting from each other without empathy for one another and then, we unconciously grew wild developing in sentiments, greeds and taking it as an avenue to make profits.
Alongside, it was more of serious business than the just fun.
Well, in the beginning everyone had expectations of being the winners of the competitions among the family's members, so it was all fun, excitement and enjoyment, but as the competitions went further, and probably some started losing more than others, it stopped being entertaining to become frustrating, and with frustration comes wildness, revolt, resentment, until reaching to the extreme level of accusing each other of extortion! What sounds really absurd to me, since you were betting only few cents in common agreement which wouldn't prejudice anyone's financial lives in the end...

But people were so pissed off for losing that they were already going out of their minds!

Then the casino and other online bet platforms was introduced in time. This was how I was exposed and my begining of gambling life!
Glad online casinos have come in time to prevent the collapse of your family. Because that is what was going to happen, if you continued gambling among yourselves like that... You were gambling innocuous cents of dollar, now imagine what would have happened if you were gambling more volumous sums of money.

A complete tragedy!
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the most underrated sport? on: February 11, 2024, 06:52:31 PM
Sumo.

It's a traditional and millennial sport which don't have much recognization outside Japan. Personally, I enjoy watching sumo a lot, much more than other fighting sports. I don't know if it's because it's pretty exotic, or because it has maintained its roots and culture without getting too modernized along the centuries. The fact they value honor above everything is also a big pros, because it's more unlikely you are going to have rigged and fixed competitions when compared to another sports, where this kind of practice is already common.

Moreover, it's a sport with its favorites and underdogs, like any other one. There is no safe bet, but you can predict some outcomes relatively easily, depending the athletes involved on the fight. Even for beginners it shouldn't be hard to get introduced to sumo gambling, as you can educate yourself about the competitors and their histories through Youtube videos which have top quality compared to professional documentaries.
730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do coaches get sacked over poor performance of players? on: February 11, 2024, 06:35:58 PM
Plenty of people gave the reasons, but I still think that a worker point of view is the rightest one. If the company is not doing good, is it because of one employee, would be able to fire 20 employees and hire new 20 people and hope that it would do fine?

I mean laying off people exists, and waiving players too, but firing your workers and getting new ones all at once never exists, it never happens, I haven't heard about it. Whereas, firing the manager that does worse, and then hiring a new one is simpler. Doesn't mean it would be solved. Like look at United for example, ETH is not a great manager ı can give you that, but not like United has a good team neither, they really suck with each player and for each position as well.
It's true. Also, part of the coach's job is to participate in the selection process of players who will be hired for the team. So, if the wrong players were picked to play for the team, it's part of his responsability as well, therefore when the club or national team is performing poorly, they have to fire this coach in order to bring another one who will help building a new team's configuration.

Technically, when a coach is replaced, some players are also replaced by the new coach, maybe due to their poor performance, or maybe due to them not fitting the new plans for the team. In some cases it can also be a financial decision, as some expensive players might not be worthing the price the team is spending with them, when compared to their performances. So this money can be invested in cheaper players, but who will averagely bring more consistent results for the team along the matches.
731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you quit gambling for a friend? on: February 11, 2024, 06:23:51 PM
Would you do the same for a friend? Me personally I think I would have just confronted such a friend and told them to seek help instead of me altering my lifestyle for his benefit. If they didn't seek help to the point that it was affecting me I would've just stopped hanging out with them silently I think. A friend would've had to be a real good one to make an exception at least.
I would do the same while on his presence. I wouldn't gamble in front of him or talk about my gambling activity anymore to him, because it could work as an encouragement for him to continue gambling, so I would try avoiding this kind of subjects when talking to him. Instead of that, we could talk about another matters and practices which can be potentially good for him to forget gambling and engage himself in more healthy habits, due to his current addiction.

However, my life would continue in the same way when away from this friend. There is no reason to stop gambling because you have an addicted gambler friend. It doesn't mean you are also going to become an addicted one. You just have to be careful with your bets and watch yourself to analyze if you are playing in a responsible and reasonable way.

A strategic quarterly burn of 50% of any profits ensures that the FUNToken retains value into the future.
What profits are they talking about? Can anyone explain?

Quote
FUN tokens are pre-minted with no further issuances in sight. There is a maximum supply of 17 billion FUN tokens created in an official FUN pre-sale on June 22, 2017. More than 80% of all tokens were distributed to industrial investors and purchasers during this pre-sale event.
Ok, so 80% of 17 billion is equal to 13.600 billion, correct? This was the amount distributed to early investors.

Quote
While 11.173B of the minted tokens were reserved for a second pre-sale, it was later removed from the schedule. More than half of these reserved tokens (55%) were burned, as they were categorized as surplus. The remaining 4.7B tokens were transferred to new owners in 2021. The supply is now fixed (no more can be minted) and is reducing with the quarterly burn.
Then how could 11.173 billion tokens be reserved for a second pre-sale, since there were only 3.400 billion tokens left, considering 80% of the tokens were already distributed during the previous pre-sale?

Quote
Trading supply is further reduced 1:1 with all XFUN tokens issued on Polygon so as the usage of XFUN increases so FUN trading supply will reduce.
As supply continues reducing, the chances of seeing FUN increasing in price become more real, although it should be also a good idea to decrease interest rates paid to stakers as well, since heavily inflated rates don't help making the token's price rise within time. Anyway, to better understand FUN's supply the above points have to be further explained and enlighted.

733  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 10, 2024, 04:44:56 PM
It's just a foolish person selling property for gambling that will disappear in an instant while getting property is much more difficult even it takes years for you to collect money to buy it, so think again don't let us be insane about this.
Yes, sometimes the person takes his whole life to save enough money to finally purchase a property, but if the property's value is converted into money, it can disapper in a matter of one single night when gambling at a casino... It goes beyond irresponsibility, it's insanity! Unfortunatelly, we know it's something which happens for real with some gamblers, as they have a solid patrimony, but end losing everything to gambling as they keep selling self-owned vehicles, houses, jewelry, assets and even their own clothes when things reach to an extreme point where there is no turning back anymore, as they hit bankruptcy.

For us who are watching this situation from outside, it's hard to imagine what is happening on the minds of such individuals to sacrifice everything they have achieved for nothing at all. I believe it must have something to do with the feeling of having an empty life without a purpose anymore, so they act insanely, maybe to escape from emptiness or maybe to seek a meaning for their lives, although in a very unhealthy and harmful way.
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Rise of Blockchain Gaming on: February 10, 2024, 03:51:27 AM

Nowadays it is possible to purchase axies at a very cheap price, when during the peak of their popularity one needed a minimum of 700$ or more to get three basic creatures to start in the game. I don't even know whether the project was abandoned or the developers continue to release updates and keep the game running, fixing bugs and errors.
One must be very careful if one ever considers to invest in a decentralized game in this context, as we approach a bull run, there will be many scammers seeking to jump onto an opportunity to take one's money.
Sometimes I still receive emails from developers about the game, but I totally lost interest on it, so I really don't know how it's doing right now. For me, the end of Axie Infinity was on the moment they introduced an update disabling SLP rewards from adventure mode, what means only PVP matches would reward SLP from that moment on.

It means cheap Axies teams couldn't make income anymore from the game, since they have no chances against expensive teams which are more powerful. Now I believe only those who love the game, or have superior teams keep playing. Anyway, it's undeniable the game is still running maintaining a community supporting it, so I don't consider it a failure, but an example of blockchain game which worked and conquered a base of players, going beyond pure speculation.
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Rise of Blockchain Gaming on: February 09, 2024, 10:12:15 PM
Mate a trading card game that integrated blockchain and NFTs? We've had a good number of those already and none really has penetrated the mass market besides Axie Infinity(though the hype already died down).
Yes, Axie Infinity was actually the pioneer in blockchain games niche to become an overwhelming success during the last bull run of 2021. The hype lasted for a while and many investors were able to recover their initial investments with a great profit margin. However, it doesn't prevent this WW2 game becoming a hot topic inside the niche this time... It will really depend on how much money is going to be injected on this project.

And tell you what — I checked the website of the game that you mentioned, and they're focusing on the token instead of the actual game lol. "Buy now".  Lips sealed
There are many screenshots of the cards on the website as well. But if they keep insisting on financial speculation, instead of showing some solid gameplay, their success chances decrease considerably, as it will be seen solely as a greedy project ran to milk money from the community, instead of delivering entertaining content. People have to feel passionated about the game's mechanisms, just like players felt for Axie Infinity back then, especially the asian community who developed a deep bond with the game for a while, probably due to their cartoon's culture like Pokemon and similars.
736  Economy / Speculation / Re: What to expect this bull run? on: February 09, 2024, 09:59:18 PM
I don't want to expect too much from this bull run, so I don't commit the same mistake of the previous one, when I kept waiting prices to continue rising, although they started falling and I didn't have a good opportunity to sell my coins and make profit anymore. So, this time I'm expecting Bitcoin to reach near the 100,000$ mark. For me, that is a good price range to start getting some profits and finally enjoying the money, as it makes no sense to hold money forever, watching your days go by, without using anything in the end for your own good.

Anyway, keep in mind that each new bullish cycle, Bitcoin decreases the intensity it grows. We aren't going to see huge price increasements anymore, so we have to be very realistic and reasonable about what to expect from the near future. What I advise is that investors sell part of their investments once BTC's price hit the value they were looking for, but never selling their entire investment. As this market is unpredictable, it may be interesting to always hold a portion of Bitcoin thinking on long term.
737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: February 09, 2024, 09:47:49 PM
As far as I know, casinos only freeze an account if the gambler has broken the platform's rules, or if he asks for being freezed. The casino itself won't decide what is irresponsible gambling based on subjective factors and clues. If the gambler is constantly making new deposits and losing money, it's not a concern of the casino at all, unless the gambler contacts their support and tell them he is having difficulties to stop playing, so he can demand his account to be freezed. Then I believe it's an obligation for the casino to do so, otherwise it can be considered the casino is taking advantage of a vulnerable individual, in case the gambler takes further action in the court against the platform.
738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 09, 2024, 09:28:00 PM
Guys, do you often feel like me? when I raise the bet I lose and when I lower the bet I win. Does the casino system/algorithm know the betting patterns we make? So often when we bet big we are given a loss and when our bet is small we actually win, which is very annoying

I don't know if this applies to all games or not, but I feel like this often when playing table games. What do you think?
Yes, I think every gamblers around have already faced this kind of situation which is quite annoying in gambling, although there isn't how to prove the casino's algorithm cheats on players somehow (at least, nobody has done it yet). These are just speculations some gamblers have in an attempt to explain why this phenomenon happens. However, we have to be conscious this isn't something unfair at all, since we know this is a game of chance, where results are random, so each bet you place can end in winnings and losses.

Once we accepted the terms and conditions of the platform, deposited money voluntarily and started wagering because we wished, we knew it could happen, so I think if we aren't comfortable with this situation, the best we can do is to just stop playing or stop increasing our bets' sizes too much in gambling.
739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your response in placing live bets with a friend at a live sporting matches on: February 09, 2024, 07:25:18 PM
Question:who has been in this scenario before? And how did you managed with your emotions then?
First of all, that is something you shouldn't be mad about. First, because results from a match are out of your control, as there is nothing you can do to influence the outcomes. Second, because a sports match's result won't make any impacting difference in your life. There is only 10$ at stake, and even if your team wins, you will remain the same person on the next day. You won't become wealthier or poorer and your reality won't change for the better or worse due to a game's result.

I actually think it's funny when people put all their hopes, focus and expectations on World Cup or a determined league's games, as it was a decisive event for their lives to watch their favorite or national teams winning a trophy. They argue with each other, cry, scream, don't sleep, and in winning case, they become euphoric. However, the impact on their daily lives is ZERO. It doesn't bring any benefits at all to affect your emotions due to sports' matches. So, just be more rational about it, and work your emotions to impact yourself on things which really matter in the end.

- Problem solved.
Yes, premium tab is displaying full data, once again!

Maybe that's the reason why many freebitcoin users are not very active from the many registrants on their site because maybe they as new registrants will be a little lazy because of the small results they get every hour plus they have to use Captcha to claim free spins every hour, I've heard there are several reasons why my friend never actively uses this site anymore even though he used to be very active on this site to claim free spins, but he stopped because he was discouraged on this site, even though I think all users have the opportunity to get lots of prizes.
Regards this matter, that is another pros of being an investor in freebitco.in, because once you have a considerable BTC balance in your account, the platform removes the need of solving a captcha for hourly BTC claims from faucet. This way, you just have to access the website every hour and click the roll button. Since you can claim instant free satoshis, I don't think people get bored doing this. At least for me it's not a problem, although I confess I wouldn't claim from faucet so frequently if it had a captcha, indeed.

Also, the more you gamble, the higher the base reward of your faucet becomes. That is another advantage of the platform.
