7201  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Update on: October 31, 2021, 07:40:53 AM
Lol.  Give OP a little bit of a break (or not; it's your choice).  He's clearly expressed interest in crypto and hardware wallets for quite a while now...
That's OK and I appreciate that. But I assume everyone would like to see that all the suggestions and corrections that people gave him in all these years weren't a waste of time. It just seems that every full moon he becomes active for a few days and asks the same questions over and over again. The "how to download Ledger Live updates" was covered several times already. Before that it was the passphrase issues, storing your seed digitally, and stuff like that.

No one (including myself) would refuse to help him with genuine problems, but it just gets a bit tedious explaining something like a software update or why his seed shouldn't be stored on Google Drive.
7202  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pmalek’s Complete the Word Game and Get Merits on: October 31, 2021, 07:28:02 AM
I have a small suggestion: instead of letters, you might try to leave all the fields blank and use part of the description of the term as a hint (similar to a crossword puzzle).
That would then change the whole concept and turn it into a crossword puzzle of a sort. soliton made such puzzles for the community in the past. I linked to his thread in my OP. Maybe he will eventually continue in the same way. The last post he made in his thread, he mentioned that the next puzzle will be posted shortly. I guess he hasn't gotten around to it yet. Maybe a bump from someone who likes solving puzzles would give him the incentive he needs.

The word games will continue...
7203  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Update on: October 30, 2021, 06:47:39 PM
Yes.
You want to bet that this is not the end of it?

Here is how I see his next reply:
Thanks o_e_l_e_o. Is this how everyone else has done it? Previously I could just update Ledger Live by clicking on the update button right? Suddenly, it was no longer possible to do that, am I right? Someone said that you had to update it manually by going to the Ledger website, but I didn't do that because I was afraid of downloading malware from phishing links. Does anyone know if someone has been infected in this way? What if I download a fake update, that's possible right?

Last month I didn't have access to my Nano S, now I have access to it because I came home, but I am worried if I am doing it the right way. Are you sure that I can just click the download button? What if I click the button and my coins are gone, that can happen right?

Guys what's wrong with you! Why are you so good at this? I guess I'll just add empty lines for Round#4.

5. Bitcoin-QT
You guessed correctly.

1. fungibility
2. encrypt
3. cypherpunk
4. orphan block
All 4 are correct! I will see about adding a special local rule that restricts you from participating. Grin

6. Flood attack
Good guess.

That's all from Round #3.
Should we continue?
7205  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Need help with my electrum wallet on: October 30, 2021, 10:24:46 AM
Were you just experimenting with Electrum or something? Huh
He might have been looking for a wallet to store his coins and figured Electrum should do the job. I am afraid that he created a watch-only wallet since it shouldn't really be that complicated to select an UTXO from the coins tab, or just go to the send tab, enter the address, amount, fee, and proceed from there.

Regardless, OP hasn't written anything for 9 days. He was on the forum 4 days ago probably checking this thread, but he didn't say anything. He either figured out what to do or he came to terms with the fact that he lost his coins.
7206  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: iancoleman bip39 / coinomi bip39 mnemonic code help on: October 30, 2021, 10:07:51 AM
Or did you put your BIP39 mnemonic into an "offline version" of Ian Coleman (downloaded and run on a computer not connected to any network)? That is still "bad", but not as bad as typing your mnemonic into a website. Undecided
Hopefully he entered in into the offline version downloaded from the right place. But OP is using Coinomi - a closed-source hot wallet that was caught sending seed phrases to Google servers to check the validity of them. Coinomi being a hot wallet is bad enough, the way they are/were handling user data is even worse. No matter which of the two he did, he should seriously consider using a better client.
7207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pmalek’s Complete the Word Game and Get Merits on: October 30, 2021, 09:57:31 AM
Here are the terms for Round #3.
I think this one should be a bit more tricky to guess. Members of all ranks can participate straight away!

Enjoy!

Round #3

1.   fungibility
2.   encrypt
3.   cypherpunk
4.   orphan block
5.   bitcoin-qt
6.   flood attack

I'll stop now
I have decided to forgive you!
7208  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Weird layout of number buttons on Trezor emulator on: October 30, 2021, 07:03:39 AM
It also stops "mouse loggers" in conjuction with a Trezor One... theoretically, by monitoring where you click, an attacker could determine what your PIN code was if you were clicking in the same "pattern" every time you unlocked your device. By randomising the keypad, it makes this impossible.
It's a neat security feature for sure and I am glad they have it. With a Ledger, you have a right or left button that you click to increase or decrease the displayed number on the screen. For each character, the first displayed number is a random one. It can be a 0 or a 4, or anything else. If it was always the same starting number, you would have the same problem of making it easier for someone to determine your PIN based on how many times you click the buttons.

Except that the time you have to wait between incorrect attempts increases by a power of 2... and then the device wipes itself after 16 incorrect attempts
I still think that too many attempts are given to enter the correct PIN. Even with such a long waiting time in between PIN entries, I would prefer not having more than 5 unsuccessful attempts before the device resets itself.
7209  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Anyone get a Blockstream Jade yet? on: October 30, 2021, 06:51:42 AM
It's in the range of a Nano S in terms of price. Seems OK to me for a hardware wallet for Bitcoin only since I don't have much use for liquid assets.
If you haven't seen this video, it's a very good review of the device. A bit too long maybe.

I did a quick check on reddit to see if there were any complaints about the Jade wallet, but I couldn't find anything worth mentioning.
dkbit98 is good in that sort of thing (or maybe he only likes doing it to Ledger)Grin. Let's see if he can find any dirt on them.
7210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fiat-betting to crypto+betting on: October 30, 2021, 06:39:49 AM
like money gramme, PayPal, Wester Union and so many more.
It's MoneyGram and Western Union, not "money gramme" and "Wester Union."

Gone are those days where you will have to queue in a betting shop to play bets(sport bet mostly)
I agree. Although, those days were gone already when fiat-based online casinos and sportsbooks became popular. Crypto platforms only took it up a notch.

Gone are those days where online betting is limited.
Crypto casinos still have restrictions for certain countries, so it's still limited. Not only that, but gaming providers present their own kind of restrictions on who can play their games and who can't. If you are from the USA, UK, North Korea, Iraq, Syria, and several other countries, you would know what I am talking about.

Gone are those days when gambling is for the rich.
The rich stay away from gambling (unless they are addicted). Your average gambler is not rich, far from it. He is a guy with a family and a bag of problems looking to solve most of them by gambling. Most of the time he ends up creating even more.
7211  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pmalek’s Complete the Word Game and Get Merits on: October 30, 2021, 06:26:17 AM
I think I need to change my time like nakamura's since it's totally for newbies, I'm too late for your blank words and LoyceV's words got my mind blown  Huh
It's not only for newbies. My first two rounds were for all ranks, but Newbies - Members were given a head start of one day. From Round #3 everyone will be allowed to guess from the get-go.

nakamura12's words are also meant for users ranked Newbie to Member as was stated in his post.
It was supposedly for newbies to members and yet you answered it already.

LoyceV didn't mention any restrictions whatsoever.
7212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would anyone be able to trace a coin through the following transactions? on: October 30, 2021, 06:18:50 AM
How do you perform swap in this step? Do you mean swap using "built-in" exchange on Ledger Live?
I didn't even think about the fact that Ledger has its own swap service through a partnership with Changelly. Not that it's that important right now, but OP should know that swapping assets through Ledger's in-built exchange service will be done with a less favorable exchange rate than if he did it directly through Changelly or a similar platform. Not that I am promoting those instant exchange services. Ledger takes a cut from each exchange, so if he believes his 1.5 BTC is worth 21 ETH, he will surely get less doing it through the in-built exchange.
7213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pmalek’s Complete the Word Game and Get Merits on: October 29, 2021, 12:28:04 PM
You leave the thread for one second and it gets hijacked by nakamura12 and LoyceV. Grin
Suits me right for not starting Round #3 on time.

Once the word games by nakamura12 and LoyceV are solved, I will post the terms for Round #3 (tomorrow or the day after tomorrow). They are already ready.
7214  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would anyone be able to trace a coin through the following transactions? on: October 29, 2021, 09:28:53 AM
1. Lets say I start by purchasing 1 BTC on Coinbase, which I pay for with my VISA. As this is such a well known exchange which requires KYC and probably has established ties to various authorities, I'm guessing it would be fairly simple for them to trace this initial purchase back to me.
Correct. Coinbase knows your identity because you underwent KYC with them. They will also know from where you deposited your fiat, the address your BTC was sent to on Coinbase, and the withdrawal address you withdrew your coins to.

2. But then I transfer this 1 BTC onto my personal Ledger wallet, where I already have 2 BTC. On my end, I can easily see that I have 3 BTC. But as Ledger will usually change the receiving address so as to spread the deposited funds across several addresses, will anyone else be able to see that I have 3 BTC, or will they just see that single 1 BTC?
If you send the coins from Coinbase to the same address where you already have 2 BTC, you will be connecting those two UTXOs. Anyone can see that an address that previously held 2 BTC has now received another deposit of 1 BTC. If you send the 1 BTC to a new address generated on Ledger, Coinbase won't know that you have 2 BTC on a different one.

3. Now I take 1.5 BTC on my Ledger and swap them over to ETH, which will give me approximately 21 ETH at the current rates. Will outsiders still be able to track and make heads or tail of this transaction, as it will draw funds from both of my BTC addresses and end up on a different blockchain?
Since you sent coins from different UTXOs and you were able to sign that transaction, that's proof that the coins in both those addresses belong to you. Coinbase and the public can check that the 1 BTC that was initially withdrawn from Coinbase was combined with another UTXO. Therefore, both belong to you. Additionally, if the transaction was sent to another centralized exchange, blockchain analysis could potentially discover which exchange that is, based on consolidated transactions to one or more of their wallets. Since most CEXs require KYC, government agencies could request the name of the account holder.

4. And then I further go on to transfer my 21 ETH on to Metamask, where I will use a DEX to swap it over to approximately 183 wBNB. It will still be on the ETH blockchain of course, and the same Metamask address too. But it will now be a different token, so can outsiders still be sure that it belongs to me?
The trail can still be followed to your MetaMask address, but unless that address has been connected to a service that required KYC, it's impossible to tell if it belongs to you. You could have used those coins to purchase some goods or services and it belongs to the merchant. I am not sure how the MetaMask DEXs work, so I can't comment on what happens next. I would assume that it's still public information and that you check the blockchain that someone exchanged 21 ETH for wBNB and those wBNB tokens were sent back to the same address from where the ETH originated from.

5. Then I use a blockchain bridge, to migrate my wBNB over to the BSC. This means the tokens will be swapped over to BNB and also on a different blockchain. Could prying eyes still keep track of this?
I don't know, but I don't think so.

6. I then take half the BNB and swap it over to USDT, before I enter them into a liquidity pool. Now I will have a bunch of liquidity pool tokens consisting 50/50 of BNB and USDT. Is it still possible to trace?
Same as above. Unlikely.

7. I stake these LP tokens in a yield aggregator, where they will be added to a much larger pool of locked funds, and automatically reinvested 3x times to earn compounded interest, which I will then harvest in the form of CAKE tokens. But these CAKE tokens will be deposited to the same BSC address I used earlier, so does that mean it would be easy to understand for anyone else just what has transpired?
I don't know how those liquidity providers function but they are all part of decentralized finance. You won't be asked for identifiable information according to what I have read and heard.

I then swap the earned CAKE tokens back to BNB, and transfer them on Binance, which is of course again a well known exchange with KYC and probably established ties to authorities. But would these authorities be able to know that the receiving address belonged to Binance just from looking at the blockchain? And if they did, could they tell who owned the specific account?
When it comes to Bitcoin, Binance consolidates their funds in various hot and cold wallets. That's how blockchain analysis can determine that an address belongs to Binance. I would assume that the same thing happens with BNB.

9. I sell these BNB to USD, and transfer them to my old school bank account via SEPA, which should be a dead giveaway I suppose. But would anyone be able to see that the USD I receive stems from my initial 1 BTC purchase over at Coinbase?
Too many things have happened in between for anyone to make that connection. I am not an expert in these matters, but I don't think such a connection could be made.
7215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to adjust and work with the bet365 live streaming on: October 29, 2021, 08:50:24 AM
The delay is not that much, with the matches I have watched are not more than 10 second delay.
It depends on the person I guess. if you are watching the match on a multishared IPTV server, the delay could be anywhere from 40 seconds to over a minute if the provider is a very bad one. Compared to that, 10 seconds is nothing. But if you have a regular TV channel that is several seconds faster than the bet365 stream, and many are, a 10 seconds delay is huge.

One thing that came to my mind was to try and use the opportunity to manipulate live betting, but the dalay did not allow such manipulation to be possible. The delay is simply because of the people that bet not to manipulate the matches staked.
That will never work. Sportsbooks have foreseen such possibilities. There is a delay with the acceptance of livebets of 6-8 seconds. That's because the system is checking if anything happened in the match that affects the markets and odds. If something is detected, your bet will get rejected.
7216  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pmalek’s Complete the Word Game and Get Merits on: October 29, 2021, 08:41:50 AM
we are all waiting here eagerly for the 3rd round... Grin Wink
"Good things come to those who wait!" Grin
I have been a bit busy these last two days and haven't had much time to focus on the new words. I will probably get around to it during the weekend or on Monday at latest.

Round 3 is already started. the new rule, OP wrote those words with him on paper, we are guessing from scratch.  Wink
Good idea. The new round could be about guessing which words I am thinking of. Tongue
7217  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Altcoin translator blacklist on: October 28, 2021, 11:23:23 AM
That's a great initiative started by you Csmiami, but do you really think bounty managers do care? )
Many probably don't care. Especially those managing scam/fake projects, and those who don't plan to pay their bounty members anyways.

Anyone active in the Croatian local board has seen the low quality "translational work" by our leading bounty translator. All you have to do is go here, and you will see which lad has opened most of the threads if you are wondering who I am talking about. Despite his negative ratings, that never stopped bounty managers employing him as their CRO translator. He recently got banned for another issue, so he has stopped.
7218  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1xBit campaign is starting again. on: October 28, 2021, 11:08:07 AM
It's always nice to put this into perspective: there are many countries in which the average income is (much) less than $100 per week.
Per week? Try per month. That source you linked to shows the average income per month. The people living in the bottom ten African countries on the list earn from $38 - $92/month. Getting into a campaign like this crappy one is like winning the lottery for them.

Unfortunately nothing can be done besides tagging the participants. And they don't care. I doubt theymos will interfere unless the campaign goes on a spamming spree. By the looks ok if, that won't be the case.
7219  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cryptoslots.com provably fair games are not provably fair. on: October 28, 2021, 10:48:26 AM
They are absolutely without a doubt manipulating the outcomes. Trust me, in the last few months i have deposited probably close to $10,000 and I 10000000000000000000 percent truly think that they are rigging the games. I have numerous videos demonstrating this, before and after manipulation. I have transcripts with a rep accidently straight up admitting they manipulate the games...
If what you are saying is true, it would help if you share the proof that you have gathered in this thread or another that you open. Players on Bitcointalk should know if their games on that platform are being rigged in any way.

When you realize the payout is total dog s*** give this a shot: try complaining to one of the chat reps, they'll adjust your wins temporarily. it worked for me a time or 30.. and for my fiancée. and for my sister!
You should know that some casinos and sportsbooks have rules against multiple accounts from the same household and IP address. You and your fiancée surely live together - that's one household. It might be worth paying attention to that sort of thing and check out what is written in a casino's FAQ or ToS. Don't give any of them a reason to close your account.

I have so much proof its unreal.
Again, why have you not opened a scam accusation against them?

Next i'm creating a page all about them, and it'll be right up near the very top of Google's results.
Is this the reason why you haven't created a scam accusation on Bitcointalk? When you create your website, I think you should at least share your findings with our community.
7220  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetJA.com | The highest Payout among all major Bookmakers + Free BTC on: October 28, 2021, 07:34:24 AM
Max bet depends on the event and when you place a bet could be different too.
This is true. I have noticed that for some matches we are only allowed to place one live bet for that event. If you try to place another live bet, the system won't accept it. For other events, there are no such restrictions.
