7241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Mystery! How to recover the coins? on: February 24, 2021, 09:16:53 AM
<...>
Have you tried iamcoleman.io to verify if the address is truly belonging to the seed phrase? Also, you can extract out the private key directly linked to the address so far you know its derivation path to be m/44'/0'/0'/0 which is the first legacy address. If you see the private key, download electrum, verify its signature, open it and click on 'next', click on 'import bitcoin addresses and private keys' and paste the private key. But, if you did not see the address on iamcoleman, that means you are using another seed phrase which you think it is the one which your mycelium wallet used to store the funds you are looking for, but not.
7242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: ER-20 Token transfer not come through? on: February 24, 2021, 08:56:17 AM
Move this to altcoin discussion.

When can I expect the coins to appear in my Binance account? Anyone else experiencing a similar situation?
After 12 network confirmations, you will see the coin on binance. As binance is custodial and unlike wallets that will accept only 1 confirmation, it takes 12 network confirmations. Is it up to 12 network confirmations?
7243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Mystery! How to recover the coins? on: February 24, 2021, 05:05:39 AM
So all your coins are in Legacy Addresses, which starts with 1. Right?

I would download Electrum, and insert the seed (check BIP39 box).
I doubt it if the seed phrase did not work on mycelium, it will not also likely work on electrum. If it did not work on mycelium, likely the seed phrase belongs to another wallet which also may not support BIP39 derivational paths. Although, he can try using electrum too but it will be good if he tries iamcoleman to verify if truly the seed phrase has BIP39 suppoted derivation paths. If the seed phrase is from mycelium, it ought to have worked successfully with mycelium.
7244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can your funds be safe???????????????????????????? on: February 23, 2021, 05:11:46 PM
I don't understand how this is safer than storing my bitcoins on Binance???
Exchanges are often hacked
If you use exchange, you are not having the full control of your bitcoin, the exchanges have the full control so far they have the private key
For privacy, noncustodial wallet, but also open source recommendable
With noncustodial wallet, you have the private key, no one to unlock the bitcoin for you on blockchain, but you alone.

for you to write down and remember right? So they are in control of seed phrase?
For exchanges, the exchanges are in control of the seed phrase and private key, but on noncustodial wallets, you are in control of your seed phrase and private key.

Basically when they give passwords, aren't they supposed to know the passwords too?
I do not know, but they do not need your password to send your coins, the password is for user's to access the coins the user's is having on the exchange platform, but the exchange can still override it and make it useless and have access to your coins without need for anything because they have the private key, they have the full control.

So how is this different than storing my funds on exchange??? Because every company are in control of your private key, Yoroi, Exodus, Trust Wallet and the lists go on.
On noncustodial, you have the private key and the seed phrase, I am not sure of trust wallet as it is close source wallet, but on open source wallet, nobody but only you will have and know the private key and the seed phrase.
7245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: A bug in brave browser that exposes users information on its Tor window on: February 23, 2021, 04:02:14 PM
I wonder what relation has this (or any other) browser to bitcoin?  In my view  people use the dedicated clients like Bitcoin Core , Electrum etc to work with it. Browsing the Web with any browser will not harm them unless they explicitly reveal sensitive  info (like SEED, private keys etc.) relevant to crypto they posses. Or I'm wrong with that? Anyway, the bug will be fixed in the nearest release.
Yes, you are right, but let us look at this a bit further. Normally, noncustodial wallets are recommended because it generate users private keys which makes the owner of the wallet to have full control and ownership. But, some traders still make use of exchanges, while some access the exchanges through web broswers to trade before sending back the coins into noncustodial wallet. There are a lot of things people still make use of broswers to do related to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. If a broswer is vulnerable, do not be surprised if a hack attack on someone's crypto is through a browser. The information is just relevant to bitcoin users that are privacy concerned.
7246  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: MyCelium Unable to Send To Specific Addresses on: February 23, 2021, 03:45:58 PM
This is probably a noob question but...My MyCelium wallet is unable to send BTC to certain other addresses.
Or, you are unable to send bitcoin generally? If you can send bitcoin to one address using mycelium, you will be able to send bitcoin to all other Bitcoin addresses addresses be it legacy, compatible or segwit. If you are unable to send, make sure the mycelium wallet completely synchronize.
7247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / A bug in brave browser that exposes users information on its Tor window on: February 23, 2021, 11:48:31 AM
I think people that are still using brave browser for bitcoin and other crypto reasons need to read this, a DNS vulnerability that creates a trail in server logs that can be followed by law enforcement, hackers or really anyone that has high-level network access. Those using the Tor mode service in the Brave browser expect their traffic to be protected against exactly the sort of DNS server logs that occurred as a result of this leak, which could reveal what websites they are accessing.

Quote
“Fundamentally, your ISP would know if you had visited .onion websites and if they track a log of all the websites you visited, they might report you as ‘suspicious,’” said pseudonymous security researcher SerHack in a direct message.

The data leak for nightly brave build which is used by developers before incorporating updates on brave stable build takes 113 days while the brave stable build data leak takes 91 days.

Quote
“Brave warns users that Tor windows and tabs in its browser do not provide the same level of privacy as Tor Browser, which is developed directly by the Tor Project,” said O’Brien. “However, this DNS leak was properly described as ‘egregious’ by Brave’s CSO.”

Using the right Tor is better than risky your information to be leaked. I am also thinking if this is truly a bug or an intentional vulnerability from brave that are trying towards exposing people using Tor windows and tabs through their browser?

7248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Instutional imvestors are Here wall street Style of action Now on: February 23, 2021, 09:37:04 AM
One thing about institutional investors is transparency, they were able to increase the price to over $38000 before Elon Musk invested $1.5 billion. After the Elon Musk investment, Bitcoin price increase from $38000 to over $58000. After that time, I did not read any institutions that invested other than microstrategy, but I am very certain that retail investors drove the price more to $58000 and they are taking their profit. If you have any evidence against institutional investors, then make it understandable here rather than posting on what you know nothing about.
7249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Binance How-to's For Educational Purposes. on: February 23, 2021, 08:24:13 AM
1.How to start using/trading crypto on binance.com not binance.us while in the us for educational purposes?
To learn about trading, you will not have to only depend on binance, you will need to read some external contents. Although, binance have many tutorials that I believe is enough to help you, binance even have video contents you can watch in order to know how to trade and make use of their platform. I can advice you to download their app and register. At the up left side, you will see a symbol like human being icon, click on it, you will see help and support. There are many articles and videos you can make use of for learning there, anyone you think if and never seen, you can click on the search space and search for it. But, it will be nice if you also make use of external contents on YouTube and online to learn more about trading. Trading is easy to learn, but to make use of it to earn is not that simple, even people can lose, it is easy to lose for beginners than to gain. Learn the rules of trading and risk/fund management and never be greedy. Using small amount to trade for long time will be good for practice.
7250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market too big to ignore, says Nigeria SEC on: February 22, 2021, 11:26:26 PM
With such high dollars exchange rate, we're buying at least 27% higher than what the international exchanges are selling providing we can get dollars with in the official CBN dollars exchange rate although that's not the case as neither the banks or black market are selling at the official price, they have their profits inputted and it skyrocket the exchange rate.
Thanks for pointing this out, exactly what happened. But, immediately after CBN banned crypto, there were false news all around that is misleading people into thinking the price of bitcoin increased in Nigeria and selling at higher price of which it is false.

In the wake of the recent ban on Nigerian banks' servicing of crypto exchanges, Bitcoin's price in the country has seemingly spun out of control.

Even, before the crypto ban, this is how bitcoin is sold while the CBN exchange rate for US dollar is not what crypto exchanges are using in Nigeria, crypto exchange price is even $100 higher. And if CBN legalized crypto in Nigeria back, nothing is going to change because it has been like that right from the beginning.
7251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market too big to ignore, says Nigeria SEC on: February 22, 2021, 07:41:27 PM
I'm not sure of it as well because in some other articles that I've read, they say that it's a 36% premium.
I have made a little comment about this in a post above, we do not know where the data is gotten from, but according to p2p exchanges we are using in Nigeria, that data is not correct. We buy and sell Bitcoin just like the normal price, but you know in p2p market, there are many buyers and sellers with different prices, you will only see some with slightly higher prices and slightly lower prices as it is just on exchanges. Some news are not just right but wrong because I have not noticed this in Nigeria.
7252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market too big to ignore, says Nigeria SEC on: February 22, 2021, 07:30:11 PM
On accounts of frauds, P2P can be done over decentralized networks which would serve as escrows to protect both parties. I however doubt there is enough liquidity on such platforms to support large purchases. Although, centralized platforms also has P2P options which could suffice for much larger trades.
Yes, you are completely right. The eswrow will be provided by the exchange, in which no one can be able to cheat. But, we need more knowledge about p2p, some people are yet being scammed in such a way the exchange that provide escrow service can not be blamed. Some newbies can depend on text message from bank, and this has been used to scam many people in the past through fake text massages that resembles bank message but from scammers. What I usually do is to login into my bank account at that time and see the money sent into my account truly. You know how people can be dubious with different scam tactics, some newbies can still fall for such simple to avoid scam.
7253  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: watch wallet on: February 22, 2021, 07:06:35 PM
If you have a watch-only wallet, that means you have cold wallet that actually will be used for private key saving offline, you will need the cold wallet to sign a transaction generated from the watch-only wallet. Which means you can generate the trasaction from the watch-only wallet and use the cold wallet to sign it.
7254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market too big to ignore, says Nigeria SEC on: February 22, 2021, 06:57:15 PM
So, this has been cut-off. Yesterday, i bought some coins using p2p, there was no need to pay charges for sending fiat to exchange.
Not only that, let me explained this in more details.

First, p2p comes with different prices, you will see people that even want to buy bitcoin for slightly higher price than direct bank withdrawal.
Second, banks do charge for transferring into bank account.
Third, if exchanging bitcoin to naira, all the exchnges do charge another fee.

P2p are just the best, but only just wish the country to support bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies which will help in crypto asset adoption. Also, because of fraud cases some people have heard about p2p, they prefer to use bank directly. Also, if big organizations will want to start dealing with bitcoin and other crypto assets, they will prefer bank deposit and withdrawal as the standard.
7255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multisig account private key missing on: February 22, 2021, 06:24:00 PM
So far it is 3 cosigners, then 3 private keys are needed to sign transactions from the multisig wallet, you can not add another wallet to make it work, it is not even possible. All you need to do is to find all possible means to get 1 more private key back to make it three.

It is a good idea to backup offline, on paper, and have like three copies in different locations. Depending on your device can fail you because the backup may not be accessible ever again if the device is damaged.
7256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market too big to ignore, says Nigeria SEC on: February 22, 2021, 06:08:53 PM
In light of the above, are those numbers seemingly accurate? And if so, do people try to circumvent local exchanges, and try to use other international platforms for purchase?
I also read on cointelegraph last week that Bitcoin is selling at premium in Nigeria, but I do not think this data are correct, I checked nairaex.com immediately at the time and see bitcoin selling at normal price. If bitcoin is selling at such high amount, p2p which its price is controlled buy buyers and sellers, bitcoin would have been selling at such high price too. On binance p2p, paxful, Remitano, and some other exchanges commonly used by Nigerians, Bitcoin is selling at normal price also. Where the data was gotten from, I do not know, but I doubt if it is correct. But, according to all the prices I have seen on exchanges and our p2p, it is totally wrong.

As far as I know, cryptocurrency is already banned in Nigeria since beginning of February 2021 as per the circular issued by NCB on 7 February 2021. Correct me if I am wrong here! So it's really surprising that Nigerian SEC has issued such statement which is somewhat contradicting with the viewpoint of NCB. Not sure if SEC is planning to overrule the ban of NCB and want to suggest regulation instead.
SEC are more in charge of crypto related matters, probably they might have been convincing CBN what they are getting wrongely. Like CBN saying cryptocurrencies trasactions are anonymous, is that true. CBN information on cryptocurrencies are almost wrong, in which the SEC have more information that are true which have been making them to embrace cryptocurrencies.

so my question is would the government maintain their stance to allow crypto transactions even if binance refusing to use a Nigerian bank account like before ?
You mean if CBN has revoked the crypto ban law? Binance only suspended Naira deposit and withdrawal, I am very sure all exchanges that have disabled Naira deposit and withdrawal will enable it back if CBN lift off the crypto ban.
7257  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unconfirmed Transactions on Trezor and Wasabi - Help Needed on: February 22, 2021, 04:19:39 PM
First, I am not sure how to tell if either wallet has or had RBF enabled.
The latest Trezor upgrade support RBF, so I do not know which one you are using. For ease, copy and past your txid/transaction hash into the search space you will see on blockchair.com. You will be able to know if the transaction support RBF or not.

Second, it doesn't seem like either wallet allows me to utilize CPFP ..but then again I am no-techy and honestly completely lost at this point.
1. If the transaction has a change address UTXO, you can track that on blockchair.con also, then you only need to send fund on your wallet including the change address UTXO into a new address on your same wallet, in this case, you will have to increase the fee in a way it will be enough to get two transactions confirmed at ones.

2. The receiver, if able to spend unconfirmed transaction, he can just send the unconfirmed transaction to another address on his same wallet using high fee that can get two trasactions confirmed in time.

I was watching an Andreas video about stuck transactions and he stated that regardless, in 14 days it will be settled whether included in a block or cancelled...is this accurate ?
Know that we do not have a central mempool, on the 14 days, it is normal for the trasaction to leave the mempool, but the way all mempools are working can be different, for Bitcoin core standard, it is 14 days, but I do not know about another full node wallet, there can be cases a transaction that thought to have being dropped from mempool still gotten confirmed after 14 days, which means the transaction only just dropped from most mempool, not all. That is why the use of coin control is very important in this case, so that the transaction can be rebrocasted using the same address he was last sent.
7258  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum crash on Android on: February 22, 2021, 04:00:11 PM
It works fine on my Android, maybe the OS is not updated and old version some kind. I remember some years ago when I was using Windows phone, there are some app I will download on it but having the same problem, all I did that time was to update from Windows 8.0 to windows 8.1 and it worked fine. I do not know of android as I run the latest Android OS always, but might also be the cause. If you Android is long to be undated, try and update it and see if the error will not happen again. Normally, electrum wallet works good on Android.
7259  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: too many addresses in each transaction on: February 22, 2021, 02:28:28 PM
Each user has his own deposit address. The money sent there becomes the property of the exchange and all the trades are made between numbers in the exchange's database.
This means that when somebody withdraws money, the exchange will send others users' deposits. This hopefully explains why more input addresses.
You are right, most of the transactions may come from centralized wallets and exchanges in order to save transaction fee, but there are some noncustodial wallets with 1 address that can have two or more inputs, or the same wallet different addresses with two or more inputs. If transaction is sent from such wallet and the inputs are spent, all the input used in the transaction will be included also and be seen on blockchain explorer.

10_sjdovn_10 should really tell us what he wants. Maybe he want to mix a coin, exchanges will be the last to come to mind, even though working like mixers. I can never even think about exchanges for mixing coins because it is centralized and account can be freezed. There are better ways like CoinJoin and making use of mixers rather than making use of custodial exchanges.
7260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Companies that trade with Bitcoin instead of you? on: February 22, 2021, 02:15:01 PM
All I can say is that if you want to manage your crypto asset, Grayscale is there. But, about trading, there has been many sites that have done this in the past while many people still lose and portrayed the sites as scam, be careful of such sites, trading generally is risky. This is also a very good means to be scammed.
