Yeah, that's because bitcoin is the rising tide that lifts all shitty ships. While your statement generally holds true, I think you meant to post it in another section and in another thread... unless you are fond of verbal abuse, that is.

No, I meant to post it in this thread, despite the customary "verbal abuse" as you say, because it demonstrates the principle that the "shitty ships" and bitcoin relationship is symbiotic as I've been pointing out for a few years now. The "shitty ships" buttress bitcoin's rise like the legs of the Eiffel tower so it can go higher. It would never have reached this level without the emergence of the altcoin market.

At a mature valuation, BTC dominance should be between 10% and 20%.

Bitcoin is the least risky investment in a high risk investment category. Its health does not depend on altcoins, but rather the health of altcoins depend on it. When bitcoin rises, it is considered to be an indicator that investor appetite for risk is on the increase, and that trickles into altcoins, which are the highest risk investments. When bitcoin falls, the converse is true, and altcoins sink accordingly.

If BTC dominance falls to 10-20%, it will mean that cryptocurrency as a whole is flourishing and has found niches among the general public. However, if BTC continues to rise and its dominance rate remains roughly the same, it will mean the general public is rejecting altcoins in favor of bitcoin, which was the case through the first couple months of the year. Either way, the price of BTC is not dependent on altcoins. It definitely has a unilateral, causative effect on altcoins.

General rule:

The higher bitcoin goes in value, the more of its market share is captured by altcoins.

Yeah, that's because bitcoin is the rising tide that lifts all shitty ships. While your statement generally holds true, I think you meant to post it in another section and in another thread... unless you are fond of verbal abuse, that is.

You clearly didn't read the original article sourced by your conspiracy enthusiast website:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12235230

Quote
New figures show gun owners are holding back on handing in their firearms, because they're waiting to hear how much the Government will pay for them...

There are around 250,000 licenced firearm holders in New Zealand and it's estimated as many as 300,000 guns could now be illegal.

It comes as gun owners are waiting on any details around compensation for their guns...

"If they are being serious about their considerations and ensuring that there is fair and reasonable compensation, then firearm owners will wait a bit longer to make sure it is just and it is fair when it is received."

She said that people were likely to still be considering if they would claim their firearms as heirlooms or sell them to collectors.

McKee expected most people would comply with the laws, but she said that there was no trust in the system whatsoever among firearms owners, and that people felt blindsided and blamed.

"We are effectively being punished for the acts of a foreign terrorist, and we want to make sure that our personal and private property is adequately compensated when it is confiscated."...

McKee said firearms owners were looking for compensation for parts as well as the weapons themselves.

TL;DR: has nothing to do with "the right to self defense." Your story took one fact and spun it into a narrative that has nothing to do with the original news article.

How did this thing happen? My name was listed as one of the spammers, I have been inactive for a couple of months and then this shit appeared! Can someone clear these things out and trace everything. I didn't do any spamming activities here in BTT, it really makes me confused!

Mods/Admins - Please kindly provide me with a list of your log (with IP used). I want to clear my account from this problem!

The next thing you should do is change your password. It looks like if you were indeed hacked, whoever hacked you never changed your password. But its safe to say they still have it so you should change it ASAP.

Guys , we are talking about nothing

This is the truest statement you've ever made. Congrats on becoming self-aware. Can't believe this project is still paying you to spam one liners for them though. They must have spent far more on your bumping service than the amount of BTC they've raised.

Wow! Polo clipped 16% from every btc lending account because of a margin loss in some altcoin.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/bxkd6o/poloniex_btc_margin_lending_pool_losses/

That's plain nuts. I don't know how people could keep using Poloniex after that. Clams has always been a Grade B Shitcoin. Its biggest claim to fame is when John Oliver mocked it because of its name one time in a segment about cryptocurrencies.

Obviously they are betting they can get away with it legally-speaking, but I definitely wouldn't revisit them after this.
7247  Other / Meta / Re: Your bitcointalk IP log for the past 30 days now available. on: June 06, 2019, 01:03:21 PM
iasenko, is this log private, or another user can access it in some way?
This log is private. Only you can see your logs. Without logging in you can not see any log. Try it.

I am all over the Europe and America :-P

Yeah man I gotta say that's a bit suspicious unless you are using tor. If you aren't it's time to change your password and possibly email address.
7248  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: June 06, 2019, 11:57:37 AM
Bitcoin scales, since it's inception.

BTC isn't, since it's 2017 hard fork.

K. That's great and all. What does any of that have to do with Craig Wright being a demonstrable fraud? That's what this thread is about, not the merits of different block sizes.
7249  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 06, 2019, 10:14:14 AM
Don't know if you knew this or not but the BTC is the same character as the Thai bhat (that's where it comes from) -- Thai being the squiggly language on the packaging.

hehe, oops. Never seen the Thai bhat symbol in use anywhere.

I just checked out your account... You were around during the time of Satoshi, early miner, caught up in the BFL debacle, #3 most active member... very impressive! Do you have any particular insights you could share about the nature of satoshi, as you "knew" him from his forum posts? Like anything you found out of the ordinary, or that hasn't been discussed before? I'm always interested to learn more about him (her/them).

The cost to set up a DarkCoin masternode was 1,5 mil at the ATH. It's about 10x less now, but still... I guess that's where they got their idea from. Wink
I remember trading DRK when it was about $0.60 and selling it at $1.80 and feeling like a genius. Should have accumulated the 1,000 necessary for node running...

DarkCoin became DASH s**tcoin, right?

Yep, that's the one. For the sake of this thread, every coin that's not bitcoin is a shitcoin.* I still have 62 Dash sitting in a wallet I lost the private key to after my laptop got stolen. Yes, I made a backup of the private key. Unfortunately, that backup was on a USB stick in the case of the laptop, which was also stolen.  Roll Eyes

*This also includes all forks that are not BTC

Here's a snippet from 2 of the forum's biggest trolls having a conversation with each other (they've been arguing with each other about the subject [Flat Earth] for 4+ years now):

Since the FE stuff is designed for people who are partially brain dead, who cares if it goes on? Keeps people's focus off the truly evil things, like 5G and vaccines.

Cool

It's what you get when a troll trolls a troll...

Kudos to the artist that slipped in this little easter egg. That's one smart puppy!

7252  Other / Meta / Re: Lightning Network board on: June 06, 2019, 07:20:35 AM
To be honest I think this is going a bit too far... For example, segwit is about the same sort of thing as ln and it doesn't make sense to make a section for either. However putting it in alternate wallet software might be an idea if deemed necessary.
This is wrong, they aren't comparable at this point. LN has a lot of features that justify this, and there's even more to come.

I agree, because SegWit is an inherent part of the Bitcoin Core code and LN is a separate network.

All the more reason to give Lightning its own board. I think this may actually help make it easier to foster more innovation in (or adoption of) LN, if its easier to find and isolate information pertaining to it.
7253  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: DDKOIN blacklist my account after i buyed 19 DDK on: June 06, 2019, 07:07:53 AM
As you can see OP, the accusation exists since September 27, 2018. As wrote above "always do research before investing in anything".  I guess you learned a small lesson here.

You would hope he learned something but apparently he's been caught up in Ponzis for over 5 years now, either investing in or managing them. So I don't think he learned anything. I would call this loss "karma."

Edit: just saw this gem in his personal text:

Quote
Buy this account on March-2019. New Owner here!!

In that case he is appropriating karma from the account's previous owner. He probably should have read through a few of the old owner's comments before making an investment.
7254  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 06, 2019, 03:41:16 AM
Is TA pure bullshit? Theres goofey names of signals on both sides claiming crash and rise always.

Yes, yes it is, given the fact that at any point in time, two TA "experts" can look at the same chart and come to exact opposite conclusions (and the price is also just as likely to head in a 3rd direction). It's all posturing: milking the times you are right for the most you can and being able to deflect in the event that your call is wrong.
7255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ ✅ [ANN][IEO] 🚀 AZBIT - Blockchain Investment Banking on: June 05, 2019, 04:17:58 PM

Pretty sad that a project that had enough money to shell out to Roger Ver to hire him as an advisor would resort to hiring such a low-grade thread bumping service to spam their topic for them.

Does anybody have any doubt about what's going on here? This project hired a thread bumping service make it appear that there is genuine activity in this thread and interest in this project. Without them, it would be pretty dead. Just another exchange when there's already 100+ to choose from.

I can't say this project is a scam per se, but the people who usually employ this type of service are scammers. Potential investors be warned.

Hi guys, hows it hangin'?

Is CSW getting messages deleted from the forum? I got PM´s that many of my posts where I used his name were deleted, any particular reason?

No, my BSV scam accusation thread where I've called him a fraud several times is going strong, haven't had any comments deleted from it thus far.

I've found that there's usually a logical, non-conspiratorial reason why my comments get deleted. Double-posting is a big no-no (outside of the WO thread), going off-topic is the #2 reason. Can you post us an example of a comment that was deleted and the thread that it was in?

K jefe. Have it your way.

I've known from early on your mind won't be changed about anything, so I won't try.

Don't say we didn't warn you.

Why on Earth do you think Gavin Anderson, the person Satoshi passed the project on to would not understand this? Call us all ignorant and in bad faith as you are clearly god.

Here were Gavin Andresen's last words on the issue (he's since distanced himself from it entirely), from his blog:

Quote
I think there are two possibilities.

Either he was Satoshi, but really wants the world to think he isn’t, so he created an impossible-to-untangle web of truths, half-truths and lies. And ruined his reputation in the process.

If he was Satoshi, we should respect his wish to remain anonymous, and ignore him.

(except he's clearly trying his hardest to convince people he is Satoshi, so this possibility is out)

Quote
The other possibility is he is a master scammer/fraudster who managed to trick some pretty smart people over a period of several years.

In which case everybody except the victims of his fraud and law enforcement working on behalf of those victims should ignore him.

So, either he was or he wasn’t. In either case, we should ignore him. I regret ever getting involved in the “who was Satoshi” game, and am going to spend my time on more fun and productive pursuits.

This whole forum is ran by backwards broke ex scammers who are slowly watching their BTC fortune die.

You should probably go hang out in the Bitcoin SV forum then. Didn't you announce your departure like 3 pages ago?

Adios muchacho.

That's an epic thread, 64 pages of party planning. Lots of Legendaries no longer with us...
7260  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Weird emails and pms about a paypal transaction I never made on: June 05, 2019, 09:48:12 AM
Apparently on June 1st (I definitely wasn't in Stockholm).

The Stockholm IP address belongs to the Proton VPN service, which AFAIK is free and anybody around the world can use it. This means it mixes in the good users from the bad, and there's no way to use the IP information as a clue to identify where the hacker is located.

But then why bother post the second screenshot that shows the "refund"?

That was iChanger who took and posted the screenshot. It seems like the scammer suddenly wanted to take the first email address out of the equation.

There's no harm in iChanger reporting fraudulent activity on all 3 of the email addresses he received to PayPal.

He also threatened he could do a "chargeback" to his credit card in one of the Telegram screenshots. He should probably consider doing this (if possible) at the risk of damaging his PayPal account standing.

iChanger can also file a fraud report with their bank if they can't chargeback to their credit card (sounds like they used a credit card tho).
