7261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto market too big to ignore, says Nigeria SEC on: February 22, 2021, 01:47:43 PM
I believe crypto will only very soon be regulated in Nigeria as SEC are in full support while CBN is accepting it to be regulated in the country.

According to a report by Premium Times, both the SEC and the Central Bank of Nigeria will work collaboratively on devising a concrete regulatory framework for cryptos in Nigeria. Speaking at a virtual conference organized by the Association of Capital Market Academics of Nigeria in the capital, Abuja on Sunday, Agama remarked:

“Part of the desire of the SEC even in the future is to provide a regulatory framework that will take care of all these challenges that we have seen internationally and the entire world is grappling with in terms of cryptocurrency and digital assets. For us at SEC and capital market, it is something to look at, the world cannot be moving forward and we will be static, no.”

However, most crypto transactions are pseudonymous at best. Blockchain intelligence firms like CipherTrace and Chainalysis have created tools that allow for robust cryptocurrency forensic investigation.

Also, crypto exchanges in Nigeria were adhering to Know Your Customer best practices which included the bank verification number, or BVN, authentication. As part of the address during the ACMAN lecture, Amugo revealed that the CBN and SEC were working with other Federal agencies to develop a national regulatory approach to cryptos in Nigeria. During the event, several stakeholders called on regulators to pursue more nuanced laws rather than outright bans.

Although, Nigerians has gone p2p as the perfect alternative which is even better.

7263  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Passive Income with KuCoin Free Trading Bot on: February 22, 2021, 11:58:29 AM
Anyone that knows nothing about trading and making use of bots to trade will have multiple losses in funds. I am not againsting trading bots, but trading professionals are still the ones that are making use of it carefully and never depending on them, robots are not 100% perfect, with what I have also even experienced, they are not 50% perfect. Learning about trading right from the very beginning with patience and discipline is the root of success in trading. Also, it should be clearly noted that trading generally is very risky, more people lose than gain, that is why using very low amount of money for start is the best. Professional traders focus more on using own-analyses to speculate than bots.
7264  Economy / Economics / Re: Big test for Bitcoin during the next Economic Collapse. on: February 22, 2021, 11:47:43 AM
All the prrrrinting and a falling GDP MIGHT be the seeds for the worst situation of an Economic Crisis. HYPERINFLATION.
Excessive printed fiat can lead to hyperinflation, but know that USA knows how to do it not to result to inflation.

Bitcoin has been criticized as a medium “for speculation”. Big test. Is it just merely “for speculation”, or an actual “safe haven”? Will Bitcoin crash together with the rest of the economy, or will everyone run to it as a Store of Value?
Bitcoin can not crash, even if the price decrease, the price will later increase. Bitcoin is deflationary, a money and an asset. Bitcoin is not getting critized like before because people are turning to knowing about bitcoin unlike ignorant messages of last decade.

I am not supporting fiat, but US will know how to regulate their economy while having Bitcoin is the best safe haven history has proven.
7265  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help please on: February 22, 2021, 11:41:45 AM
nc50lc  - I couldn't  see "cancel transaction". When I tried to conect boardcast I got this note:
Go to settings, check replace-by-fee and see if it is On or OFF. Or, are you using old version of electrum that does not support replace-by-fee? Replace-by-fee is On by default on electrum. You can also check if the transaction is replace-by-fee enabled on blockchair.com.

If the transaction is replace-by-fee, you can cancel it, but you can only cancel it by paying higher fee. But, as you did not see where you can cancel or pump the transaction on electrum, then probably not replace-by-fee enabled, check blockcair.com to confirm if it is not replace-by-fee enabled, if it is not, do not worry and never panic. But that will mean you can not cancel the transaction.

All you will have to do is to know if you have change address, if you have UTXO into change addresses and you have enough funds on it, then make a transaction with a higher fee into another address on your wallet that will be capable enough to pay for two transactions at a time. In this case, the two transactions will be confirmed earlier. Or, you should wait until the transaction is confirmed.

If the transaction has been confirmed, you will need to message the customer support again, explain to them that their is nothing wrong with your wallet internet connection and that it synchronized successfully, that it was as a result of the transaction not getting confirmed early, you will need to send the txid along. They will track it and see it true, then process what you requested for.

7267  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [SHOCK] A Mysterious $194k Fees On A Single Bitcoin Transactions on: February 21, 2021, 04:50:19 PM
If this was in fact money laundering, I would think it would be more likely for the sender to include the large transaction fee, and subsequently, get reimbursed the large tx fee, minus a percentage to an unrelated address. The pool would, in effect be acting as a mixer.
A mining pool can not be a mixer, there are many miners under a single mining pool, and the mining reward is shared among them according to their mining hashrate. In this case, the person that pay high transaction fee, if among the miners, he will only be given a share of the fee while he lose the rest, while mixer makes you get 100% of your bitcoin after the fee has been deducted.
7268  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: my bitcoin send to 2 adresses. on: February 21, 2021, 04:04:45 PM
(bc1qfj5nnzzuheeclea98ece68fz7jsh3tysraecny) is not the addres i filled in
It can probably be a change address, that is what you should first find out. Can you check your electrum to find out if the address is actually part of your listed addresses.

the smaller amount did go to my binance account, and its there but the bigger amount seems lost.
Is it the smaller amount that you sent to binance? Is the smaller amount the exact amount you also sent to binance? If so, that will probably be your change address. Electrum make bech32 address default, and the address you posted above is bech32, that means you probably used bech32 address to send it which can be a slight reason to guess the address above is a change address of your electrum wallet.
7269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet Restoration - Password needed? on: February 21, 2021, 03:09:22 PM
You will need the password you used when you created your wallet. In electrum, you need to input the password and the seed phrase you saved so that you will be able to use your wallet in another wallet provided thta supports the wallet. If your back up is not seed phrase instead you have private key then you only need to paste it to a wallet provider then you can access your wallet.
No, if you are restoring your wallet back, only seed phrase is required, but provided extended word or passphrase is not enabled. Let me make a clearer explainations about this.

Seed phrase, very important for wallet restoration

Passphrase, just like password but not password because it is like a seed extention too, if the seed phrase is imported, you do not need the passphrase until you want to spend your coins, if the passphrase is not provided, the coins balance can be seen with seed phrase importation but can not be spent which will make the wallet useless.

Password, it is not needed at all, it does not go beyond your old device, if your decide to change and you import the seed phrase into a new wallet, you will have to set new password without old password needed.

Extended word, just like in electrum wallet, very important. If you move to another wallet with seed phrase importation, you also need the extended word along.
7270  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help please on: February 21, 2021, 08:11:40 AM
I transferred payment and accidentally transferred too much.
Prevention is better than cure because the cure may not even exist or may take little from you. While sending bitcoin or other crypto to another address, you need to check and recheck that the address you are sending to is correct, also also that the amount you are sending is correct.

Payment was canceled by the recipients but I do not see it in my wallet.
I do not think a wallet has been designed in a way the recipient will be able to cancel payment, you need to check if the transaction has been confirmed, your wallet should be able to indicate that, or you can use blockchain explorer to track your the transaction, if confirmed or not. If not confirmed, you can still cancel the transaction with higher fee on electrum, but I do know the wallet you are using.

Is it just a matter of time? When will I see it, so I can transfer the right amount?
Or am I supposed to do something?
First know if the transaction is confirmed. For privacy reasons, you may not want to tell us your txid, but use blockchain explorer to know if the transaction is confirmed, or, you may share us the txid to help you to track it.

The case can be as NotATether also explained, in that case, you will need to contact their customer care if the fund went through after the timer set by the wallet address you sent to as expired. But, first make sure the transaction has been confirmed.

Person way carry hope put on top government of Nigeria don ready to fail, in fact, e don fail already because eh, the government no be am at all. We don lose this country to our forefathers, them odn fail us finish as them pass the government to this greedy set of people way corruption full for their eyebrow so.
It always dey come my mind when things still cheap for past time, our fathers and monthers go dey tell us say life still better pass before the time, say things dey cheaper for past. Nigeria na just country wey no be say the leaders dey only greedy, they dey incapable also to lead, make I no just dey talk the truth further but the fact is clear with waiting the country don turn to. As you dey see me, I go school for Nigeria but no work, na to gather money start business or na gbege. 7272  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Binance account help on: February 20, 2021, 08:47:00 PM
The best thing in my opinion this time is to chat with a binance US customer care, or if they are busy, you can send them a email using the same customer support page.

Have you tried to login using VPN and not working? I believe this should be the first try on binance.com before contact binance support.
7273  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are these two to be messaged? on: February 20, 2021, 12:55:03 PM
The mempool is getting less congested as it usually do during weekends, 30 sat/byte will likely get confirmed this weekend. As of recent, the mempool is around 50 sat/vbyte. Just do not contact anyone, wait, likely it will be confirmed soon. But, your transaction should have been confirmed if it has been long, I have seen less than 30 sat/byte transactions getting confirmed recently.
7274  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal Vs Ledger Nano S : Which is better on: February 20, 2021, 10:51:33 AM
I own Ledger Nano and I would not use or recommend the desktop wallet.
I meant destop wallet as a wallet extension for hardware wallet, like the reputed and the recommendable electrum wallet, and also the ledger live desktop software.

But since Ledger's shop has leaked a lot of customers' details, I would be also scared to buy anything from that shop, especially as in the last months they went from bad to worse in containing the damage.
Any company can make the mistake, it is Ledger Nano today does not mean it can not be Trezor tommorow.

So there are lot of vulnerabilities in Safepal wallet and Ledger's data was leaked in last months, so where do we go ? There are not much options avaible when it comes to the hardware wallet and we have to choose between these or quit the idea of owning the hardware wallet.
You will like this post from dkbit98, as it is helpful to know how to buy hardware wallet safely without no connection with you personally.

- Use Tor or VPN when registering to website and install ad blocking extension like uBlock.
 - Use alternative or disposable e-mail address and new random password for registration.
 - Use alternative prepaid phone number and not your real phone number for registration.
 - Use crypto for payment, not connected with your real ID, or pay with cash in your local authorized reseller.
 - Use alternative or fake name for registration.
 - Use PO boxes or alternative address for delivery.
 - Do your own research

I heard somewhere that if we install a safepal software wallet on a phone , move the funds in that wallet and then disconnect the phone from the internet and keep it off,  it will still act as a hardware wallet as it is not online. I do not know how exactly this is true in theory ?
The SafePal is a hardware wallet on its own, the phone software is just an extention to operate the wallet hardware. I do not recommend the wallet, but hardware wallets are cold wallets, but not the wallet extention.
7275  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [SHOCK] A Mysterious $194k Fees On A Single Bitcoin Transactions on: February 20, 2021, 10:12:31 AM
Could this be some kind of money laundering?
No, it is a mistake.

Seemed like the miners or whoever behind it knew they were going to mine that particular block and decided to insert such amount of fees to make the transaction untraceable for life?
No, the error is from the user, no transaction is untreceable as the bitcoin blockchain is transparent.

Is there a way someone can tell which miner or what address confirmed transactions??
Yes, you can use blockchain explorer to know the block which the transaction is included, and the miner that mined the block.

Okay let's act nut for a few seconds and pretended that the fee was inserted by mistake, is there any way to recover it? ( sounds stupid? yeah )
There are few cases in the past while the mining pool that mined such transaction with high fee returned the bitcoin. The miners would have known it is a mistake.
7276  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal Vs Ledger Nano S : Which is better on: February 20, 2021, 08:53:26 AM
Ledger Nano has been a good wallet that is trusted by people, what I do not like about it is because it is not completely open source, it's secure element is close source. But, Safepal is also also close source which in is new and not reputed and trusted like ledger nano. It is backed by Binance but, being close source like trust wallet is can not make me trust the wallet.

You can use ledger nano on desktop computer but Safepal is only compatible with phone. Using ledger nano on desktop and also many other features makes it better than Safepal. Check some of it below.

SN           Features                Ledger Nano          SafePal
1.       Desktop Software              Yes                       No
2.       Multiple Account                Yes                       No
3.       Coin Control                        Yes                       No
4.       Multi-sig                               Yes                       No
5.       Message signing                Yes                       No

Brodaly as you see me so the country don tire me, people no fit speak against the government again, because the next thing government go do na to arrest them like the lekki toll gate protesters, them no care about the youth at all, jobs no dey sef youths way try dey into crypto them still Wan block the road, them way dey thief money nobody dey talk, like the snake way swallow 36mil,or the monkey way carry money run or na that one way Lai Mohammed say dragon carry money dem go borrow fly, omo we don too endure rubbish for this current government, I just wonder when e go end cause we no fit continue like this Sad.
Naija don tire people, we see how cost goods dey rise, although not surprising say e dey rise, but the rate it dey rise come worse. Naija economy enter recession again last year, we no dey recession again this year though but the inflation rate dey increase while unemployment na issue. Graduates no dey see job, na Naija I hear say going to school na for exposure say no be for job employment because where the job dey, even the president talk ham for University of Maiduguri some years back, say no job. Naija leaders like politics, they no like economy. Naija no dey produce, only depending on crude oil, na wey Naija have a long way before e go better.
7279  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: huge electrum fees on: February 19, 2021, 07:51:09 PM
You can wait until the mempools are congested, we are in weekend now, mempool are mostly less congested on Sundays, it can be up to 5 satoshi/vbyte, although last week was different as it was around 10 satoshi/vbyte, but which is still very okay. You can decide to wait or not, this depend on you. But, for you not to panic, it will be good for you to wait for the mempool to be less congested.

You are the owner of the receiver address, which means even turning on the replace-by-fee can not be used to scam yourself, because setting it on can be used to cancel the transaction with higher fee back into the sender another wallet address, or be used in some occasions to divert the fund into another address of another wallet with higher fee. But, because you are sending from your wallet address to your wallet address, it is safe as you can not scam yourself. It will be good to set ON the replace-by-fee because if the fee used is not enough, it will be good for you to just pump the fee for faster confirmation.

You can decide to send the transaction now, if you want, but it can take days before confirmation, but take chances on Sunday because the mempools will be least congested at the time. Assuming you set the fee to 5 sat/vbyte and the mempool on Sunday is at 10 sat/vbyte, you can decide to pump the fee to get the transaction confirmed. Even, also 15 sat/vbyte can be used if need be.

You can also wait until Sunday or whenever the mempool is very less congested for the feerate the be automatically low in accordance to mempools, you can at the time decide to consolidate. Which means, the time for confirmation will be faster because you consolidate the input when the mempools are less congested.

So, it depends on what you want.

Is B58Check the same as WIP?
Just follow LoyceV post above to get it done rightly. But, as to the answer to this question, there are two base 58 private key generation for paper wallet.

1. Base58 uncompressed private key, this is the WIP, and it starts with 5

2. Base58 compressed private key, this either start with K or L.

According to how the wallet is generated, just convert the Hex to Base58 uncompressed private key (WIF), it starts with 5. Import it on a supported wallet. Follow LoyceV above links.
