Let's see how events will develop at the end of the year. Many believe that by this time Bitcoin will try to storm ath again, and maybe even break it. If on New Year's Eve the price is about $50 000, I will be incredibly happy, although I am preparing for less joyful prospects. In any case, if bitcoin is worth more than $20 000, I will be in a good profit.
But then I will continue to accumulate bitcoin and wait for better times. I don't want to repeat the mistakes of 2017-2018, selling all bitcoin for next to nothing.
Gotta say it's still looking like it, yeah, although there are already those prepping to sound the death knell for this rally, seeing them news items and analysts coming out the woodwork already. I'm in the same "happy if more than 20k" boat, but I have to confess, it will be an underwhelming year if we see 2022 without celebrating another ATH first. |

If it's that amount of crypto belonging to one person, the age fits right, and she has been suspected to be in London, just surprised it took police so long to locate her, given how highly visible she was at one point, and how well-surveilled the UK (and especially London) is. I was led to think by Spooks their network could face-ID someone in hours haha! The police claimed they seized cryptocurrency, however, the article does not say how and what they seized. I am skeptical. They might not have seized anything and if they seized something, what kind of cryptocoins? It might be a wallet full of Binance smartchain tokens hehehe.

Unfortunately that is the type of place I live as well and I am not sure if it is getting any better neither but a friend helped me understand something better. I know that when I tell people where I am from people think about places like London or New York, but the reality is that 55% of the population is either working for either minimum wage or not working at all (this is all the people between ages 18-65, so there are many more who are under 18 and over 65 that doesn't work as expected too, hence only 30% or so of the city takes care of everyone else).
Long story short we are talking about something that is horrible in the short term, but what my friend helped me realize was the fact that even while we are doing bad now, it is still better than what we had in history, I mean even the biggest King never had the chance to use computers, so it is still getting better.
I agree that even or sometimes especially in urban cities, if you live on the wrong side of the gap, it's really not a fun life. I went to my capital myself in my teens and it was a pretty big culture shock. No swanky neighbourhoods, renting spaces on the floor and not rooms, sharing with 20 other people and using communal taps and bathrooms. But there, at least there was access to better your life and escape the cycle, is what I'm saying. You talk of a time when Kings didn't have computers. I talk of a time when most of the world will live and die without the opportunity to read or write, much less touch a computer. But there is a mentality at play here for sure. You can't break out without the right one. |

Maybe yes. I also brought out a good piece of my bitcoin reserves in the new year. But after bitcoin flew above $28 000, I began to accumulate more than spend. In any case, I don't want to. Even selling at $20 000+, it was still a good profit for me.  Yeah, that's what I thought too. I know it's just anecdotal evidence, but I was sure there was a lot more to coincidence that not a few of us started to sell when ATH broke -- even though we believed the rally was just beginning. Selling today would still have made me a significant amount more, but in my case, waiting for the ATH would have been not worth it either (because the price of what I bought actually went up even more, if you can believe). Time to sit for another few years, eh? |

I took it just now. This is first time in history I see that special is still live and 3 games are almost at the half way line. Logical since the bet is only for second half but surprised anyway. Should be easy to hit but that first half goals @45 sounds even better. Especially when it already passed in the first 3 games. Yeah, in fact, first 4 games by the time I checked, was really kicking myself (I'd have taken it even at 20x probably) because I actually really like those specials when it involves non-elite teams, who seem keen to play for scoring draws. Only March sticks out for me, if I'm honest. Everything else was just random noise, but I have to say I can even remember being online when it happened, was work and we had a lot of people panic (remote shit so I see a lot). On a personal note, the year end was pretty cool too, a lot of excitement, holiday mood, in the final month of my old job, and pandemic Christmas, but all kinds of optimism happening around Bitcoin in general. That was also when I sold a significant bunch of BTC so I definitely remember a bit of that reluctant pain/joy  I also know quite a few others who did the same, for a new house, new life, etc. We all knew the real rally was coming but also wanted to enjoy a little. Do you think a lot of people did the same? |

I recognize most of the teams, betting-wise it's a guessing game though. Better to skip a few of these early rounds, these low-tier teams can vary by a huge amount from season to season.
Much the same for me, and the odds don't look particularly exciting for the close ones. I actually don't mind taking on bets when the underdog is actually quite high up their own league table, but I see some severe mismatches, so no go for me. But I do love those 10+ to 1 odds, these nights are fun! Now the other fun part will be to look for the streams... Go Hibs! Still 0-0! Valur look nice at a 9/1 boost? Reminds me when a few years ago some economists were claiming Bitcoin's actually the birth of a new form of accounting. Some like here just called it triple-entry accounting, but many came forth to say it wasn't actually so, still double-entry but with the addition of a consensus network. I agree with you ... considering that there are probably those who, after the first or second blackjack, permanently bet 5 mBTC. El Salvador will be a test, but not the litmus test. As a reminder, dollar supremacy test there failed, but that didn't spell the dollar's doom in other countries adopting it since (thinking of at least one country in 2011 that did, where USD continues to reign in the black market far above its own pound).
Predictions of Bitcoin supremacy, however plausible or not, are only a matter of curiosity for me, as we won't live long enough to see US dollar get thrown out. Displaced by yuan maybe, but only to take 2nd place.

I think things are changing, but it has it cost, my country is developing but here and there we have schools that are preparing their students to feel superior, from the equipments they have qualifications of the teachers and other schools quality, but this comes at a cost the prices of such schools are very high, and it's still almost line what you saying, because the school are attended by the very rich or those under scholarship, or those that their poor parents who knows the important went a far length to send them into the school, the knowledge of the students knowing how superior the school is has already started build superior power in them, which they can use to chase exciting dreams.
Things are definitely changing, but it's difficult for me to really make a true assessment of whether it's positive or not in the long run. I come from what's known as a developing country, but from a state with the lowest statistics in HDI. Invisible because national indicators put the country quite high in the region. I mean, I say where I'm from and people immediately think skyscrapers and rich people and fancy modern living... but my own state only achieved in 2020 50% literacy rate -- so that's a marker I think no one believes when I tell them. To change that, our young people are venturing out more and more, and getting better paying jobs and going to better paying schools. But I'm not sure becoming better people (at least from a tiny sample of what I can observe). These are also the most likely to be the ones hearing about and getting into Bitcoin -- but not to use them, also judging from the discussions I have been able to observe. It's better than rotting in obscurity and disease in the middle of nowhere and getting left behind by the world, I suppose... |
