7281  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbooks often offer different odds for the same type of bet on: October 21, 2021, 08:13:17 PM
You also need to be wary of very small differences ("the fine print") between types of bet, for instance certain bookmakers will offer odds on bets within 90 minutes of a soccer match and others would be offering until the game ends (overtime + possibly penalties), if you're not paying attention in those situations it can cause some costly mistakes.
It is important to read the fine print as you said or the betting terms to know exactly what it is that you are betting on. In my experience, most of the bookmakers I have played on offer markets only for the regular 90 minutes of play. If the odds are for potential overtime as well, it's usually written above or below that particular market. Sometimes it's in brackets in small letters.

If you are a big-time player, that difference between 1.90 and 1.95 can mean a lot.
7282  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbooks often offer different odds for the same type of bet on: October 21, 2021, 05:07:06 PM
Here is another examples of a sportsbook that offers different odds for the same outcome of the match. This time its Betja.com for the Europa League match PSV Eindhoven - AS Monaco.

The odds on a home win on the 1/X/2 markets is 1.90.
If you place a bet on the Asian Handicap -0.5 market, you are betting on the same outcome but for higher odds of 1.95.

7283  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk history on: October 21, 2021, 09:31:07 AM
All I know is that Satoshi Nakamoto started bitcointalk and disappeared.
Satoshi didn't create Bitcointalk.org. He created a forum which was hosted on bitcoin.org. Here is a great thread on the history of the forum that was bumped a few days ago > [BCT FACT] Bitcointalk was originally on Bitcoin.org but ... drama.

It's only three pages long, and you should learn a few things after you read it.
7284  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: October 21, 2021, 08:45:17 AM
I think it would be good to have a news topic about investing, for example:
10 best alt coins worth investing in or 5 current bounty with a good reputation.
Does it feel like Bitcointalk, Cyrus, theymos, and many of the mods care much about altcoins to the point to make YouTube videos about them? 95% (maybe even more) of all bounty campaigns are scams. Users will either not get paid, they will receive worthless tokens that will never amount to anything or be listed anywhere, or they will get less than what was agreed. Even the developers of such campaigns don't believe in their projects and view them as schemes to get rich by taking BTC, ETH, and other valuable coins from gullible investors, and dumping their tokens on the market.
7285  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: October 21, 2021, 08:29:28 AM
I may not have something to share yet on what content that you like to see in the youtube channel but is it okay if there is a shoutout for forum users in the end of the video.
Which ones? It might seem unfair to mention one or two when we have so many good contributors. Maybe just a shoutout to all forum members.

I don't think it is a good content but is it okay if there is a rap music about bitcointalk forum and the bitcointalk talkshow much like the same as this video https://youtu.be/JZYZoQQ6LJQ but the rap or song is about bitcointalk forum and why bitcointalk forum is different from the other forums out there.
Seems sleazy to me. Who is going to record the song, mix the music, and make it sound right? Not to mention the cost for such a project. Not everyone likes rap and if the song sucks, it might be a reason for the viewers to stop watching the video.
7286  Other / Meta / Re: Maximum posts allowed per day on: October 21, 2021, 07:48:06 AM
I reject the idea of joining a campaign (which I haven't done yet) that would require me to post a certain number of posts per day - mostly because I usually don't post much (depends on the time of the year) - or to post in sections of the forum that do not interest me at all (like Games and Rounds*).
You don't have to worry about that. Signature campaigns generally don't count posts made in Games and Rounds. Grin
You will be required to post in Gambling and Gambling Discussion though. But yeah, I understand what you are saying.

3. If there be need to limit number of posts per day, the system should be programmed to also accept the posts, queue them in and maybe publish them the next day. Then, to what essence?
I don't see that ever happening. Imagine that you need some urgent help today and that has to be in the next 5-6 hours. But the two people who can help you can no longer post because they reached their daily quota. They could PM you, but let's say you/they don't want that. The forum (actually theymos) isn't going to limit people in that way.

Will they be comprehensive, different and not copy/paste from somewhere else? I kinda doubt it. So doing this could get you into troubles, so you better not attempt it  Grin
AIs don't copy-paste. Especially not those produced in Switzerland.
7287  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Issue of fixed Matches on: October 21, 2021, 07:33:21 AM
in this case you mention makes more sense to consider the possibility of some games being fixed
but do you think this also happens in entire plays where the whole team would know?
Back in 2006, when the Calciopoli scandal hit Italian Serie A. One match of Fiorentina and another team (I forgot which one it was) was fixed. But it wasn't fixed to profit from illegal betting. Fiorentina's president was a good friend of the guy who was the president of the opposing team. One of the clubs needed a draw to avoid being related to Serie B and the two friends had a meeting and agreed that their head-to-head meeting would be a tie. In such a scenario, you need both teams to know about it.
7288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Issue of fixed Matches on: October 20, 2021, 03:21:38 PM
Fixed games exist, but whoever is "selling" them online for $10 doesn't have any info about them. There are various reasons why matches get fixed. It's not always to profit from illegal gambling, although that is surely one of the biggest reasons they exist.

Sometimes clubs help each other when one of them needs a point or two to reach certain goals. If you let us win today, we will return the favor when you need it. I am sure matches get fixed as part of the negotiations when signing new players. The club might be willing to drop the asking price if they win the next time they meet.

All you need is one player to fix a match. Football bets on markets such as "will there be a penalty" or "will there be a red card" bring good returns. For such a fix all you need is the keeper or one if the defenders to concede a penalty or make a tackle where he will be shown a red card. The entire team doesn't need to know about it. They might not even lose the match.
7289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase Partnering with NBA and WNBA on: October 20, 2021, 11:35:26 AM
I wonder why Coinbase would want to expand into the NFT market.Probably because of greed.
Because no matter whether we like it or not, NFTs are trending and being hyped right now. Coinbase wants a piece of the pie like all the other platforms and NFT marketplaces.

The last few days I kept seeing Facebook ads for a Shaquille O’Neal NFT collection. Has anyone else seen them? I first thought it was a scam, but after seeing this thread, I took a second look. He actually did release his own NFT collection, but it has got nothing to do with Coinbase. He partnered with Ethernity.
7290  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum seed on Trezor on: October 20, 2021, 09:10:42 AM
I think he is trying to avoid broadcasting his transaction and thus transferring it to the wallet.
In that case, the more appropriate term is importing. Transferring suggests that a transaction took place and when we are talking about importing seeds, there are no transactions being made. He uses Electrum as a cold-storage client, so I don't think he is trying to avoid paying a few cents or a dollar to save on transaction fees. It's just a misunderstanding due to the difference between Electrum and BIP-39 seeds.

I  normally sign transaction with electrum on a offline computer but it will not alway boot up and this process take longer to sign transactions.
It takes longer, it's less user-friendly, but it's safer. The security of your coins should be the top priority. It's inconvenient if the offline computer isn't booting up properly. Why is that? Is it a hardware or software issue? Did you reformat the OS before you installed Electrum on it and created your offline wallet?
7291  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Weird layout of number buttons on Trezor emulator on: October 20, 2021, 08:33:14 AM
It's because of a hardware vulnerability with OLED displays that could make side-chain attacks possible. Someone who knows how to check the Trezor's power consumption could recover parts of the seed or PIN code.
The vulnerability could be exploited if the owner of the device uses a fake USB cable that is pre-prepared for this scenario.

This Trezor blog post explains it much better than I can.
7292  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: October 20, 2021, 07:47:00 AM
There are 2 new casinos popped up and created their ANN thread in this forum some time ago. They are Flush.com and Luckydiamond.io...
I never heard of either two to be honest, but that's not a surprise since they are relatively new. I will take a look at them the next time I make changes and add new names to the table.

Thanks!

@Pmalek, saw that betfury's btc withdrawal added the BSC network aside from their native option before.
...
edit : I just read Btzed03's post regarding this and your reply.
Bitcoin only exists on the Bitcoin blockchain. Any other alternatives are altcoins and can't be considered Bitcoin. Like I said in a previous post, I won't be adding info about alternative BTC-pegged tokens.

Betnomi is off the list!
I asked twice in their ANN topic about the way they handled the communication with users who were part of the Betnomi affiliate network but their admin refused to answer. Maybe they scammed their affiliates and maybe not. But since they don't feel like being transparent about it, I have decided to remove them.
7293  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: October 19, 2021, 08:12:18 PM
Guys I am a bit late but this are my picks for tonight matches in Champions League, Real Madrid win, PSG win and Porto (0) win, because Milan have a lot of injured players.
I also played on PSG tonight. I need them and Inter to win. I have already correctly predicted these two earlier matches. Away wins for Manchester City and Sporting. Great odds on Sporting btw, a gift by the bookies.

As I am writing this, Inter just conceded an equalizer.
I am negatively surprised by Borussia Dortmund so far. I expected a draw here, maybe even an away win.
7294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet hacked :-( Not much but slighly upset! on: October 19, 2021, 04:31:17 PM
Here's a question: how would you know if some crypto wallet you got off the google play was stealing your private keys? the answer is in most cases you would not know until other people started complaining they got their funds stolen or it happened to you! enough said.
You wouldn't unless you know how to inspect the code and look for backdoors and things in the codebase that shouldn't be there. That's why it's recommended to use open-source wallets. But even if they are open-source, I reckon that 90% of users don't know how to check and verify the legitimacy of the code. But at least it's possible to do so, and you are trusting that others have done it properly. If a wallet has been around as long as Electrum has, you can be sure that it has been thoroughly checked by numerous security experts.
7295  Other / Meta / Re: [BCT FACT] Bitcointalk was originally on Bitcoin.org but ... drama on: October 19, 2021, 11:35:42 AM
I read some of those comments and I think I'm starting to believe that sirius is a satoshi because satoshi is known as the founder of bitcointalk.org. In the post, Sirius admits that he is the founder of bitcointalk but this is really confusing. satoshi was pretty good at hiding until recently, but people have always been curious about who he really is in real life and his activeness on the forum to this day. I also want to know do you believe Sirius is Satoshi?  Grin
Sirius created Bitcointalk.org, but that's not the original forum. It's not the forum that satoshi created. Satoshi's forum was hosted on bitcoin.org. After that it was moved to forum.bitcoin.org I think. Bitcointalk.org is the third board and the one we use today. Unless there were more in between that I forgot about. To complicate the issue even more, sirius isn't the person who came up with the name "Bitcointalk". Jeff Garzik did. Theymos mentions that in one of the quotes I shared in my previous reply.
7296  Other / Meta / Re: Maximum posts allowed per day on: October 19, 2021, 11:19:24 AM
What I understand from your post is that more reporting of shitposts would be appreciated and perhaps handled if mods agree with the reporter--am I correct about that?
It's much easier for the mods to delete posts that break the rules if they are made aware of them and they know exactly what is wrong with them and what to pay attention to. Instead of having only 10-20 staff members (not really sure how many there are) browsing the various forum sections in search for offenders, their job is made easier with the help of hundreds of volunteers who go "hey, look here, this is where your attention is needed".
7297  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Gifting Bitcoin to a friend on: October 19, 2021, 11:07:52 AM
This may be a stupid question from my side, but I have been following the development of the thread and you seem to be rather sure that Bitcoin (and the derivative knowledge in how to interact with it) isn't something that your friend values / is very interested in learning. If you're so sure about that, why are you even considering giving him a gift whose nature is BTC?
It's not that I don't think he doesn't want to learn about Bitcoin or that he isn't capable of understanding it. He is the kind of guy that likes shortcuts. He will take the faster and easier route instead of the more complicated one. Many times, that's not a bad approach, but with Bitcoin it is. The easier and more user-friendly and convenient way to store and interact with crypto can cause people to lose their savings and have them stolen or lost.

I have tried to introduce a few friends to the technology for years, but I can't say I've had a lot of success. A few seemed interested, but when we got to the point of either investing or performing a service in exchange for Bitcoin, suddenly that interest waned. Then when they hear about the price increases and possibilities crypto offers, they tell me I was right. I want to change that record and try it one more time with him.
7298  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Gifting Bitcoin to a friend on: October 18, 2021, 04:35:16 PM
Private keys and control of your own wallet are forever for sure. I want to think that they wouldn't go anywhere, being the top #1, but it's always safe to be sure when HODL-ing.
I am not really worried that Binance will disappear overnight, but I understand what LoyceV was talking about. It's the regulatory frameworks that centralized exchanges like Binance have to comply with that worry me more than an exit scam or disastrous hacking incident. But no matter what happens, it wouldn't be the first time.

Most replies hint at that it's best to learn the proper ways to go about the seed and private keys. I wanted to spare my friend from that since he hasn't expressed a desire to ever learn it. I will probably just do it for him, and then it's up to him whether or not he wants to learn the ways of Bitcoin.

7300  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: October 18, 2021, 02:36:46 PM
