7281  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance withdrawals limits {0.05 BTC accounts} on: August 15, 2021, 06:40:41 PM
Binance faces homelessness if no country is willing to host them. If a country like Cayman Islands is not interested in your business, things are grim.  More at

This could happen at any time, everything here looks and smells like a slow death of Binance exchange, and CZ will retire sooner or later like he announced.
They are probably just switching to FTX exchange because they invested a lot in them and they are not under any attack of regulators (yet).

More troubles for Binance exchange coming from UK as London court ordered them to track hackers behind $2.6M Fetch.ai attack.
Now they need to identify exact people behind this hack and I found reply from their representative very alarming, as he said they routinely freeze suspicious customer accounts:

"Binance routinely freezes accounts that are identified as having suspicious activity occurring in line with our security policies and commitment to ensuring that users are protected while using our platform.”

7282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Michael Saylor Says Bitcoin is Hope For Canada on: August 15, 2021, 06:03:43 PM
I would not like to see Canada taking over majority Bitcoin mining, because that would mean miners would have to switch from one communist country to other.
It's well known fact that Justin Trudeau admires China and he is trying to copy-paste their model to Canada, and since most politicians are corrupted crooks I would not be surprised if he was on Chinese payment list.
I am not against Bitcoin miners spreading worldwide, and Canada have natural potential, but If Chinese could ban mining that means that Canada with current government can do the same thing in near future.
7283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can I buy bitcoin by transferring sepa to IBAN number? on: August 15, 2021, 05:46:02 PM
You can use many centralized exchanges (Kraken or Coinbase), to buy Bitcoin with SEPA but you would need to pass kyc verification for this, and there are always risk doing this.

My suggestion is to try downloading decentralized exchange Bisq that also have option with SEPA payments and you don't need to pass any kyc verification:

7284  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin privacy on: August 15, 2021, 04:47:23 PM
Given that each new transaction will be associated with a different public key (all of which can't be linked to each other), doesn't this already solve the privacy problem?
Not exactly, because there can be a connection between those addresses with change address, if you are not using manual or multiple change addresses.
You could also use coinjoins to mix and split your coins, or even better you can use something like ChipMixer.

For example if I bought a drink at Starbucks for $2 and then some socks at Walmart for $5 and then receive some btc from a friend for $3, no one would be able to tell it's me because each transaction would have a different public key, right?
You can have account in some exchange without kyc verification and use it for small payments that would increase your privacy.
Keep only smaller amount of coins (for coffee like things) on exchange like FTX and you would not pay any withdrawal fees for BTC that is nice and unique feature.

How far away are Atomic Swaps?
Atomic Swaps are active and available even now for many coins.

7285  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Lost bitcoins - Transferring from android to iOS (Both wallets from same seed) on: August 15, 2021, 04:33:13 PM
The big question:
Where is my BTC and how can I recover them?
Big answer, your Bitcoin was never on your phones, they are only holding keys and enable you to sign and broadcast transaction, and Bitcoin is on blockchain all the time.
I don't know why you complicated things so much and why you tried to use same seed on different devices, but make sure your wallet is synced to show correct baalnce.
You can also see full history of your transactions in any bitcoin explorer (blockchair or similar) and see what address exactly has your coins.
Try to use seed words and recover them in different wallet like Electrum of BlueWallet, that I recommend more than ads filled Mycelium.
7286  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Forum Software on: August 15, 2021, 03:52:19 PM
You want a new forum?  You can write Bitcoin related posts at proofofbrain.org.  We welcome Bitcoin posts.
Forum you mentioned in your post is not related with Bitcointalk forum software, so you should move this post to Project Development board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=12.0

What would you like to see in proofofbrain.blog, to make it your favorite forum?
You have hard task in front of you to beat Bitcointalk forum that is most popular crypto forum in the world, and younger people in general are moving away from forums to social media with short attention span.
7287  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin vs Ethereum on: August 15, 2021, 01:42:50 PM

If we can reproduce the binary we downloaded from the public source code, with all bytes accounted for, we call the product reproducible. This does not mean we audited the code but it’s the precondition to make sure the public code has relevance for the provided binary.

If the provider puts your funds at risk on purpose or by accident, security researchers can see this if they care to look. It also means that inside the company, engineers can verify that the release manager is releasing the product based on code known to all engineers on the team. A scammer would have to work under the potential eyes of security researchers. He would have to take more effort in hiding any exploit.

“Reproducible” does not mean “verified”. There is good reason to believe that security researchers as of today would not detect very blatant backdoors in the public source code before it gets exploited, much less if the attacker takes moderate efforts to hide it. This is especially true for less popular projects.

7289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argentine President sees no reason to oppose Bitcoin adoption on: August 14, 2021, 08:54:55 PM
South America catches Bitcoin fire and it's spreading like wildfires, but let's wait for official confirmation when Argentina adopts Bitcoin.
It is good that President Alberto is positive towards Bitcoin, but I think there are a lot of forces inside Argentina that will be against Bitcoin, because they are sponsored by central banksters.
7290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers/Public will have Access to Quantum Computers in 5-10 years? on: August 14, 2021, 08:49:26 PM
Oh boy it's one more of those quantum computers doomsday thread...  Roll Eyes

Quantum computers can get anyone's private keys in fraction of a second.
Who told you that? TV or CNN?
If that is true, all those lost coins private keys would be cracked and sold by now, and that didn't happen.
Quantum computers will be limited doing only one function and by the time they become mainstream, everything will be cracked not just Bitcoin, that means all bank and military security.

So how can Bitcoin survive in this technological quantum era?
Same way like all other encryption related tech we use today.
I guess it will be one more ''death'' of Bitcoins for mainstream media...

Will there be Qitcoin or somewhat?
No, but there are already some shitcoins that are ''quantum resistant''.
7291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin really resist inflation? on: August 14, 2021, 08:40:14 PM
Since the total issuance of Bitcoin is limited to 21 million, Bitcoin has had its own "anti-inflation" aura since its inception.
There are few million bitcoin less because of lost coins, but there are much more Sats or mBTC that can be used as smaller denominations for Bitcoin, so you don't really have to own or buy one Bitcoin.

However, Can Bitcoin really resist inflation?
Bitcoin doesn't have to do anything to resist inflation.
It's a free market that will decide if people will choose Bitcoin or something else like precious metals to hedge inflation and hyperinflation.

Because, although Bitcoin has a total issuance limit as a "protective cover" against inflation, but under the impact of a dazzling variety of virtual currencies such as ETH, BNB, XRP, LTC, DOGE, etc., Bitcoin's "protective cover" "It's easy to break the power.
All those are centralized junk shitcoins that can't really do anything and they can't compare with Bitcoin.
There is no CEO or central authority controlling Bitcoin like it's the case with all other coins and digital currencies.
7292  Economy / Economics / Re: Senators push through bill with surprise crypto tax amendment on: August 14, 2021, 08:23:35 PM
It looks like there are some conflicts between regulators inside US government, so CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) and SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) often have different outlook on things.
CFTC publicly claimed they hold regulatory authority not the SEC, so it sounds like a battle what agency will bring more cash from taxes and have more power and control.
Take note that SEC chairman is Gary Gensler (he is asking for more authority for his organization), and CFTC chairman is less known Rostin Behnam.
It is a good thing that we have support from few senators like Cynthia Lummis but period ahead of us is not going to be easy for Bitcoin regulations, that is for sure.
7293  Economy / Economics / Re: Baltic - Black Sea Union as an alternative to the EU. on: August 14, 2021, 07:59:33 PM
Baltic Black Sea Union would be just one more globalist project even worse than European Union, all those countries you mentioned can never unite in any other way except with corruption and with Nato.
If you really think that Nato is some peace operation than you are deluded and most of this countrioes are already in Nato, or should I say they are Nato colonies.
Just look what happened recently in one Bulgarian village when Nato soldiers made a ''mistake'' storming in some private property.
It is more likely that we see creation of some union of slavic people, and I don't know why would you exclude Russia that is evil only in eyes of mainstream propaganda media.
Let's think who made most wars and destruction in recent history with excuse of ''bringing peace'' but instead making profit from control of oil and other resources. Not Russia.
Maybe it's time to make more free states based on more freedom and less government parasite crap that is corrupted dead concept of ruling.
We don't need more bs state unions. We need union of free people.
7294  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase hodling the coins forever on: August 14, 2021, 06:35:23 PM
Maybe this is related with recent push by regulators, but what a terrible idea to hold his coins on Coinbase or any other exchange for five years, and then just expecting that you could cash out anytime you want.
This is worse than a having bank account frozen, because you had a choice of holding coins on your own wallet and you could use decentralized exchanges like Bisq or P2P trading for cashing out.
I also see reports that people have problem withdrawing other coins and not just cash, so it could be a much bigger problem with Coinbase exchange.
7295  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: August 13, 2021, 12:42:56 PM
7296  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [LIST] Open Source Hardware Wallets on: August 13, 2021, 12:13:50 PM
You can also DIY your own Satochip hardware wallet.
We do sell blank javacard that are compatible with our Satochip Applet.
Interesting, I didn't know that and I think that €25 it is a reasonable price, but I think that you would need to buy a card reader if you don't have one already, and that is plus €15.
Is there any page with instructions for dummies for making Satochip DIY wallet and loading code on card?
7297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin are not by nature money, but money consists by its nature of bitcoin? on: August 13, 2021, 10:00:50 AM
Marx mentioned in "A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy"
Karl Marx ruined so many lives with his stupid communist ideology that he should not be referenced by any means with anything related to money or bitcoin.

gold was very valuable in ancient times.
Gold is still valuable, has multiple use cases, and it's value is more or less the same unrelated with fiat currency experiment.
I once read somewhere that you could buy a good suit with same amount of gold now and during history in different periods, so it's less volatile.

The fundamental reason for the establishment of the gold standard is not the rarity of gold, but the skyrocketing production of gold, which happened to be controlled by the world's most powerful Britain at that time;If Spain is the world's largest country, I guess it will implement the silver standard.
I don't believe this to be true because there are a lot more silver on earth than gold, silver is more affordable and you can find it everywhere from kitchen, jewelry, to coins.

No major economy promotes Bitcoin. This economy needs to hold a lot of Bitcoin. And it has a lot of voice in the world. Similar to Britain at that time
Most governments are holding some Bitcoin, and Venezuela even has Bitcoin as legal tender, but it's wrong to say that ''economy'' needs to hold Bitcoin.

To use Bitcoin, you need to learn some knowledge, while gold and silver don’t need to learn complex knowledge.
Is that so? Can you tell me yourself if some shiny yellow metal is original or fake gold without learning some complex knowledge and having some complex instruments?
- No you can't, and anyone can easily sell you some fake gold.
7298  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [Error] Invalid Distance Code on: August 13, 2021, 09:33:56 AM
what can I do?, should I copy it to a new pc or download new software from electrum.org?
Data for standalone Electrum wallet is still on your hard drive with your operating system (Windows in your case) in ...AppData\Roaming\Electrum folder, and it is not meant to be portable.
You should copy data inside that folder and if you want to use Electrum with flash drive then use portable version only, but make sure you only download it from official website and verify GPG signatures.
7299  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: making fake HW wallets(will we see this scam next)?? on: August 13, 2021, 09:27:44 AM
lets say you make a fake  HW wallet
I don't understand what do you mean make a fake hardware wallet? You mean ordered or DIY made device? Explain it better.

You can add multiple passphrases to your wallet as extra protection that is working only in combination with your seed words, but keep them in different locations.
For accessing any funds on that wallet, you also need to have pin code, and you need to know correct passphrase.
You can also reset the device, and generate new random decoy wallet.
7300  Other / Meta / Re: We need a new global moderator. on: August 13, 2021, 08:37:55 AM
You have too much time on your hands Cheesy.
This was made two years ago for 10th anniversary art contest, I never posted it in public and I found the picture few days ago when I was cleaning my hard drive (because I though it's going to die).

Here's a challenge: Make theymos without € sign Smiley
Sure I can do that, unfortunately cherry is not making ₿ symbol yet  Undecided

With the amount of reports increasing, it would likely mean the possibility of moderators being added would be higher. I can't speak on the behalf of theymos, and whether or not its in his vision for new moderators, but at least with the data being there i.e number of reports, there's at least a little more to work with when it comes the time he wants to add more.
Is there a way to see some public statistic for total number of reported posts and it's historic values?
