I've found in FF that when the text bogs down like that it is usually a chart that is causing it. It's either a script or a flash object. Could be a memory leak but those are pretty uncommon these days.

Odds Xilinx partnered w/Bitmain and would do a pre-emptive release of ther FPGA hardware before this one?

Odds Bitmain got a hold of some of these boards, figured what parts to "hog" and bought the bulk of the stock?
Bitmain uses some smaller Xilinx FPGA for their management boards for their ASIC miners. There is no evidence yet there would be directly making FPGA miners.
All design details of VCU1525 including BOM was public on Xilinx website until recently. So anybody could take the BOM list and try to buy all the stocks of some components.

There was no evidence of their other stealth miners either besides the hash increase.

16 Bitcoin Price Predictions from "Industry Experts"

Quote
1.Gavriel Shaw, CMO at Bitcoin.com:

[snip]

16 industry experts
9 month down trend
An asset that has historical multi year bear cycles
Not one bear
Heh

Yeah, sucks. Was hoping for STH before 2019 but not with these winds.

David Hanson sounds the most plausible out of that bunch.

BTW who says they are expert?

People in this thread beat the shit out of them.

I see the network hashrate was somewhere around 470-480Mh/s a week ago and its over 550Mh/s now. I knew it would increase some with the recent surge in value, but increasing almost 25% in a few days seems a little suspect. Anybody know if it's just miners switching over for the profitability?

Hash rate last month was from like 420-490Mh/s  now is like 500-550Mh/s, that is less then 20% increase. Yes last few days price of Monero went up for more in Bitcoins and in USD. So yes is normal that miners will switch. You can mine Monero with any CPU and GPU so Monero miners have lots of freedom what to use their hardware.

Someone give me a F and P and G and A, FPGA!

Yeah those Hybrid FPGAs are hitting the streets now.

I don't know where else to put this, but since I know some of you guys love betting on football (soccer) and hang out more itt, I'd like to invite you guys to a UEFA CL betting pool, if you're interested:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4919683.0

lol, inside buyer.

What's to stop someone buying and selling to themselves? Once they've created the impression that some object is valuable they can pawn it off onto an unsuspecting mark.

I thought we're not supposed to talk about alts in this thread? Cheesy

Take it up with your local moderators. If they think you should be banned I'm sure they'll say something.
Dear moderator, I really appreciate your work! Moderators of Russian chat can not remove the lock or cut it in this they need the help of a global moderator or administrator, so they sent me to you

What he is saying is that they (your local mod) must PM a Global Mod and ask for your ban to be lifted, you cannot.

So apparently they do not want your ban lifted, as they did not make the request for you.

7294  Other / Meta / Re: Received Merit - Top Streaks (merited days in a row) on: September 05, 2018, 10:10:36 PM

I agree that people tend to give them more to posts they agree with or 'like' but there's nothing we can do abut that other than try urge users to give posts for effort rather than you just agreeing with them or liking their point.

I believe that the meaning of merit is different from a simple like. Merit is deserved not by the post with which we agree, but by one in which the author consistently and reasonably expresses his point of view. You can agree with him, or you may not. But in any case, it isn`t just an attempt to write a constructive and useful commentary that deserve merit, but an intelligible and precise report of someone`s point of view. It is through argumentative statements between participants that a discussion can begin. Even if their views don`t coincide, but they explain them and prove, with respect to the contrary opinion and listening to the arguments of the oponents, the forum members will certainly discover something new. As we know, in a dispute, truth is born. And merit is worth giving to those who help to approach it, and not just those with whom we agree.

Precisely, stating a premise and forming an argument to support that is the basis of critical thinking.

I've given a few merits out to people who I didn't agree with, but they've certainly made the effort or put their point across articulately.
On rare occasions, I didn't give Merit to posts that are worth reading, out of fear of that being interpreted as me endorsing the user.

That can be a conundrum.

I'm about to merit the thread but when I'm in the "Merit a post" page I realised that I don't have any sMerits left, will reserve one of my future sMerit for this thread.

There needs to be a small amount distributed to the leveled accounts each month just to have a few available for outstanding posts. I have tried to spend Mine wisely And I am now under 10. I need to PM Maxwell and tell him to send some back! Lol, I felt his account was sorely unappreciated in the merit Dept. Smiley
7295  Other / Meta / Re: Most entertaining person on bitcointalk - POLL - 12 days - 3 votes per member on: September 05, 2018, 09:21:59 PM
I think this poll is just going to be a "crazy off" where the most crazy members come up on top. We all know how entertaining DannyHamiltons posts can be from a technical stand point, but he has no chance of winning when there's several members who swear down the earth is flat, and the planet is made out of cheese.

It's not just British sense of humour. It's any kind of  humour for non-native speakers, no matter the nationality of the humour. Double meaning, sarcasm and humour are difficult to understand even if you are proficient (and a non-native speaker).

I sometimes get it and sometimes not. Other times it takes me a while.
British humour is certainly something different to most nationalities. We can be incredibly dry. Some nationalities don't seem to get our "banter" either.

Shit, a good 90% of my posts I try to add humor and I fail about 99% of that! And a good 1% of the time They get offended at my joke! Cheesy

British humour is different, someone who understands the language and watches a lot of TV shows/Movies will get it. Being a non-native speaker, I find British humour quite funny. People don't really use that humour here, but then again its a rare thing for people to even use normal humour.

This thread is supposed to be with full of jokes, we only have people telling who they voted. Suckers. You didn't even vote for me.  Angry

Attempting to be facetious is just plain fail but I try anyway. Smiley
