7281  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: September 08, 2018, 02:43:54 PM
Seems a bit scammy but I just tested it with an equally scammy coin (verge) and exchanged it for a less scammy coin (Litecoin) and I did receive the Litecoin.  I will note that out of ETH, BTC, and LTC,  I received the most LTC for the XVG based in USD value.  I would have received $10 of BTC, $15 of ETH, or $16 of LTC.  So I went with LTC since it provided the most USD value.  I then dumped the LTC for $16.05 on coinbase.  I plan to buy BTC with it in the coming weeks as BTC slides down even more.  It's to bad that both changelly and shapeshift have been pushed into KYC by regulators.  Lightning + Atomic Swaps will eventually wipe out the need for these type of bandaid solutions for swapping coins.  Sadly Decred nor Vertcoin were listed as options on this n.exchange thing or I would have compared those also.

They look to have a higher exchange rate on average (for ltc to btc).

7282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Make and sign a transaction with core unsynced on: September 08, 2018, 12:59:59 PM
Also OP_LOCKTIME also requires a fee

There is no OP_Locktime as far as I know. There is OP_Hold and that is irrelevant here. He is talking about locktime, as in the last 4 bytes of every transaction. When you set it to a specific number (it can be datetime or block height) your transaction can not be mined unless that time is reached.
And by the way your transaction will be rejected by the whole network if it is supposed to be mined in the future.

I mean that was the joke but OK...  Wink Grin
And, so it's just the timestamp that gets changed to something in the future and you have to broadcast that transaction at some point then in the future...
7283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Make and sign a transaction with core unsynced on: September 08, 2018, 12:33:40 PM
I'm guessing that means "is it in your mempool"? If so the answer is no, as it seems to be a scriptpubkey wrong. I'm going to downgrade my electrum (I keep copies of all of them just because)...
can you show me the signed rawtx?
I put it on the op of the other thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5023749.msg45332367#msg45332367

btw, I think anything less than 1s/b fee will be auto rejected by all nodes
and if you don't need it confirmed, how about adding locktime 20 years in the future?

My node should accept it though and that's all I need (and a miner to have configures their node to be nicer than the core devs have)...
Also OP_LOCKTIME also requires a fee Grin (achow and a few others said coinomi's version was quite tempremental sometimes too)...
I might just pay the fee... Send it to yolodice and martingale to get my fee back though Grin.
7284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Make and sign a transaction with core unsynced on: September 08, 2018, 11:12:24 AM
@jackg did it's show up on blockchain ?

I'm guessing that means "is it in your mempool"? If so the answer is no, as it seems to be a scriptpubkey wrong. I'm going to downgrade my electrum (I keep copies of all of them just because)...
7285  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: September 08, 2018, 11:04:32 AM
Have a question, I have around 0.13 for mixing but instead of getting 0.128 + 0.002 I've got a bunch of smaller chips. Is there any way I can get larger amounts?
You can merge them until you get a bigger chip.

Or maybe they're out of larger chips and it's best to get out a voucher instead?
7286  Economy / Gambling / Re: YOLOdice.com only this week - LTC "50+50" Wagering Competition on: September 07, 2018, 06:16:51 PM
Is it possible to invest litecoin into the site? I can't seem to work out how to do it...

Nice wagering contest too, definitely one to keep an eye on and the prize pool has already risen by ~20%.
7287  Other / Ivory Tower / A 9 bitcoin coin (apparently) on: September 07, 2018, 05:53:08 PM
https://yobit.net/en/trade/YOTRA/BTC

I was looking at this market specifically and it looks like it's gone from being worth literally 0 satoshi to being worth 9BTC (900000000 satoshi) that's an infinte percentage increase and I'm wondering what the point of doing this would be and who'd have the money to do it.
7288  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: $450,000,000 for a single painting. on: September 07, 2018, 05:30:51 PM
Not sure if this is the case here but these expensive paintings are often used for money laundering.  The value of some of these paintings are crazy, the Mona Lisa has been valued at over $1 billion dollars.

I think that'd cost a lot to be used for money laundering...
Guessing that you'd have to lawless land to store your earnings initially before you import them, you'd need a lot of guards to store it and then a lot to help you transport it past highwaymen and pirates (assuming they're both still a thing in poorer islands).

Obviously there are other places like UK and US colony islands that charge less tax/no tax but probably also have less security than the mainlands...

At the moment the rich seem to be getting out of stocks, and the central banks are having to buy them to save the market from collapsing.
Then how are we still in an out of control bull market?  You would think if a significant number of wealthy individuals were dumping their stocks we would have at least a good market correction, but we haven't seen that in quite a while.
If you have enough stocks, you have to pull out slowly otherwise you get arrested for crashing the market (it's happened before). Market manipulation is taken seriously, even if it's accidental.
@Jet Cash, banks buy shares on the stock market for people to store money in stocks ISAs I don't think the banks are buying many shares for themselves (especially considering they're only buying shares in each other in order to keep each other afloat - lloyds bought halifax for example)...
7289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Coinomi TX Signing Issues on: September 07, 2018, 04:53:27 PM
It is so easy to broadcast your transaction, you don't even need a client Tongue
Just connect to a seed node IP and ask for a list of node IP addresses.
Take one of the addresses and open a socket over port 8333 and use that IP to connect to and say "hi" like this (you may want to change the IP in it but it doesn't matter because it is flexible):
Code:
f9beb4d976657273696f6e0000000000660000008a94bbe97f1101000d00000000000000131b805900000000010000000000000000000000000000000000ffff05ef60c22acf0d0000000000000000000000000000000000ffff23a7f609208df65ca61c4a15f201102f5361746f7368693a302e31342e312f374d070001
Then wait to hear "hi" and a "handshake" back. Then "shake" the hand like this:
Code:
f9beb4d976657261636b000000000000000000005df6e0e2

Now that the greeting is over you can start talking with that node. In your case you just wanna tell them about your transaction, so just do that:
Code:
f9beb4d9747800000000000000000000bd000000eae844bb0100000001d9c9f7d12419848477506c8ca09b47f55d6dd4ce8442a467b3cc78596405af211c0000006b483045022100e4feb502f883057194cb0f3dff802177036b52714c94852b6e6f0656a2adbe830220381b45ef1cf7c4937981c3a534364f7b0e7fa7e70de9cae2bc35b62104833043012102d2f573c371c17ae32225044fe2f7582a5ed5ae5835fe0408228f0149ee9a6a12ffffffff01a0860100000000001600146ca8c500e1894e369350c9b0f4f436adf007869500000000

Rejected? Try another IP.

This, although being correct steps, was posted just for fun. I may have made mistakes since I didn't use a code, I just made them by hand. If you are interested I can explain with more details.

I do have a node already running (not synced but still). It's an issue with broadcasting somewhow.
I used sendrawtransaction Hex_Signed_TX and it said there was a scriptpubkey error.
I'm not entirely sure if that code actually works but it looks quite funny anyway Grin.
7290  Economy / Gambling / # on: September 07, 2018, 02:58:32 PM
I forwarded it on to him. I'm not sure though because it still requires an account. That was the good thing about Shapeshift, that is no more.

They're going to lose a lot of money with the change yes.

I couldn't find another direct one though, there probably isn't a trusted one yet but one will probably open up with the gap in the market.
7291  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Was Sergei Skripal poisoned by the Russians? on: September 07, 2018, 02:43:51 PM
How's it against russian agenda, it's not like the government are going to do anything about it anyway.

I thought the EU officials were doing their analysis on the novichok also. If it was a british attack, wny not use VX and just say you don't know where it came from...
7292  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: One cent crypto coins on: September 07, 2018, 02:09:27 PM
I'd buy no more than a dollar's worth of each coin to start with (you can always go higher if one looks more interesting).
I'd take a look at how the coin is marketed and also it's receptoin here (if the creator has negative trust from a DT because the binary exectuables are laced with viruses, I'd say that's one reason to look away from it.

You could also look at how much their ICO made (if they used an escrow agent) or how much they paid for their domain name too.
7293  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Was Sergei Skripal poisoned by the Russians? on: September 07, 2018, 12:30:34 PM
The UK needs to realise that their poisoning of Skripal failed, and they should just let the pathetic attempt fade away instead of making themselves look even more stupid and corrupt.

What makes you so sure it's the British that did it? It's looking more and more like it was in fact the Russians, but if it wasn't the Russians then the British obvious did it for some reason and they're not going to let it go if that's the case. I'm sure there's much more effective ways for them to stoke the fire and fan the flames than this, though.

It's fairly obvious it was indeed Russians, I'm surprised the information actually hit the news. There's a lot of other news about russia that doesn't seem to be as documented as this incident, the reason the other incidents go fairly undocumented is that it shows how weak the British government actually are and how they won't put on any sactions or even threaten another country...

The other issue in the UK is that The Queen is given too much control and appears to just be signing through anything the PM presents to her (which shouldn't be done as the parliament should vote in favour and then the bill should be handed to The Queen or one of her associates for Royal Assent)...
7294  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: September 07, 2018, 12:20:59 PM
Does anyone know of an alternative service?

I can think of changelly might be useful (potentially) - I expect some sort of tip if wetsuit uses it though...
7295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Coinomi TX Signing Issues on: September 07, 2018, 12:07:20 PM
I tried to make a transaction with coinomi and sign it, the signed hex is
Code:
0100000001d9c9f7d12419848477506c8ca09b47f55d6dd4ce8442a467b3cc78596405af211c0000006b483045022100e4feb502f883057194cb0f3dff802177036b52714c94852b6e6f0656a2adbe830220381b45ef1cf7c4937981c3a534364f7b0e7fa7e70de9cae2bc35b62104833043012102d2f573c371c17ae32225044fe2f7582a5ed5ae5835fe0408228f0149ee9a6a12ffffffff01a0860100000000001600146ca8c500e1894e369350c9b0f4f436adf007869500000000

My electrum says it's signed but my core says there's something wrong with the crtiptpubkey, I need to broadcast it in core as I don't wnat to pay a fee with it and it's affordable to just leave it as is until the bitcoin developers realise they don't have to enforce adding a fee to transactions any more...
7296  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: September 06, 2018, 09:50:04 PM
@TheQuin, the pay with altcoins function doesn't seem to be wroking on the site (not sure if it's just me or not though)...
7297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Make and sign a transaction with core unsynced on: September 06, 2018, 06:14:38 PM
If it's just for fun and not a serious amount, play around with coinb.in if you haven't tried it yet.

I just made one, this transaction will send 168791.33927947 BTC to my profile addy, without a fee:
~snip~
If someone would be kind enough to sign it, I can try to broadcast it without a fee Cheesy

Hehe, I think theymos needs to start setting limits for the size that posts can be Cheesy.
I've signed it on coinb.in which was pretty easy (I was trying to do everything manually because I had a txid beginning with 18 and an address beginning with 18 and I put the txid in and was wondering if the software you gave me was shoddy Grin)...

Just need to work out how to broadcast it now...

I get 'error 64: scriptpubkey (code -26)'

It's definitely signed right because I imported it into electrum to check it.

I ran sendrawtransaction "my_hex"
7298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Make and sign a transaction with core unsynced on: September 06, 2018, 05:44:14 PM
As far as I know, nodes no longer broadcast transactions with 0 fee.

Why do you want to make a transaction that doesn't need to confirm?
It's a bit of fun with £5 that I have on an address.
And my node will broadcast it...

I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to do. You could import the private key into a different wallet, and never use it again afterwards.
Yes, but then my blockchain will start to resync...

Instead of using Bitcoin Core, isn't it much easier to use either Electrum or coinb.in to create a raw transaction using only the Bitcoin address, then you can sign it with the private key on an offline computer. Before broadcasting, you can check the raw transaction to ensure it does what you want it to do.
No, they don't broadcast 0 sat fees. can't even make a transaction with one in electrum, tried it many times, tryninja suggested how to do it (I think it was him anyway) but I got confused as the thing he said to look for wasn't there...
7299  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Should I teach myself Python on: September 06, 2018, 05:36:15 PM
They really are going fo it with Python. Today's book is
Python Data Structures and Algorithms [eBook]

Are you sure they go through the entire library? Since you mentioned that site to me that same book has come up three times...
7300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Make and sign a transaction with core unsynced on: September 06, 2018, 05:27:33 PM
I know it's possible to make a raw transaction and then sign it on the blockchain without the blockchain to be fully synced (I checked on reddit), can anyone show me how to do it though? (I want to send it fee-less if possible as I don't need it to ever confirm - realistically speaking)...

I also don't want to import the private key on it as the private key is potentially compromised so I don't want to accidentally use the address.
