Here's my contribution.

I'm not a designer so it's just another idea from a different angle.

Also, it can be useful to do the "Coinwarz test" to see how the logo stands out from those around it. See if you can find them in their catalogue... Smiley

Folks - this coin works !

I've had my wallet open for nearly 2 days now and have started receiving "mined" coins in the transaction history.

If you've got crap mining equipment like me (Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA GE-Force 220 that wouldn't pull you out of bed) then buy some coins and stake-mine instead at negligible electricity cost !. Remember to unlock your wallet while you're staking and switch your PC or Mac's energy saver to config to only switch the screen off and not the CPU. You get a good interest rate in the early days of the coin - 10 times more than it will be in the long term.

You need to let your coins 'mature' for a day with the wallet open before you start receiving payments.

(b.t.w. although my 220 is in a PC, I'm 'staking' on my Macbook Pro. The JPC Mac client is great and right up to date).

I must say, everything about JPC that I've seen so far is rock solid. Things behave and work as advertised, no bugs, good wallets and cross platform support. Stuff happening on time. Seems a very professional job.

Their eyes are on other high volume coins at the moment, let's organically work up the volume. Patience everyone, the devs are great, launch was seamless, coin structure/algo is unique, and the community has been pleasant since launch. We will get there!

Agreed. A few weeks yet possibly.

Difficulty is going up. I think that means it's getting more miners.

what volume?

Trading volume on current exchange(s).

Exchanges never want to be left out of the action if there's any to be had because thats where they make their money.

The half circle dark reflection is not bad in itself, but I tend to like symmetry

Isn't the contrast a bit stark with the black ? Looks like it got burnt.

1st go to "settings->options->displays", check the "coin control" option, then in "send" tab you can click on "inputs..." to select what coins you want to send.

I usually select "list mode" and sort by "confirmations", you want to use low confirmation ones so you preserve the maximum possible your coin-age. Select the low confirmation ones to enough you want to send, then click on "OK", you are allowed to send only these coins.

Not sure how reserve coins works exactly, it will make sure you have at least "reserved" ones not going to stake, so you can send them any time.

Jeez. I had no idea all that stuff was there. Thanks for posting. On the Mac it's JackpotCoin qt --> Preferences --> Display --> click the "Coin Control" checkbox. Of course, since coin age is priority you want to keep the oldest and spend the newest.

Wey !

My wallet just reported some of my balance moved from "Balance' to "Stake", almost exactly 24 hours after I first populated my account.

This coin seems to work as advertised  Wink

Now nearly double what it was yesterday.

There's a meaty 6 million sitting there at the moment @ 5 Sats for anyone who wants to avail themselves (plus another 0.6 mil at 4).

That means you can pick up 2 mil for only 0.1 BTC. That's the most liquidity there's been at these levels. Although it's possible to pick up the odd million at 3, it looks like only being a few hundred thousand now.

For anyone wanting a decent amount at "ground level" there are 2 options: a budget and an express:

[1] - Budget: put your order in at 4 and pick up what you can over 24 to 48 hours and hope the market doesn't take off

[2] - Express: Grab that 6 mil @ 5 sats and off you go

(Another thing - AllCrypt only seems to required 1 confirmation for Bitcoin deposits as opposed to 3 at most exchanges, so getting funds on is fast).

more people need to be aware of the ties to coins exchanges have

Well I wasn't aware. But I can imagine there are all kinds of conflicts of interest floating around in this sector. I also never thought about the scrypt mining shares thing.

I wouldn't worry about proliferating registrations on exchanges. It's a lost cause. Almost every time a new coin's come up that I've been interested in it's ONLY on exchanges where I'm not registered. In the end I sat down for a day and devised myself a password system where I could quickly create very secure new passwords that followed a theme using a mixed systematic and arbitrary approach. It works fine and I'm on about 15 exchanges or something ridiculous now - all with different passwords.

.. and many won't add a coin until they have to ..and sooner later they will HAVE to add this one i am sure. lol

CINNI springs to mind of the recent ones. That came from nowhere, got a lot of volume on its opening exchange (which was CryptoALTex I think) and within hours it had jumped the voting queues at both Cryptsy and Mintpal, straight into pump mode.
7294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][JPC]JackpotCoin, First Jackpot hit! 90,000,000! on: May 05, 2014, 06:07:45 PM
my only gripe is i have very little Jackpot coins

Whot !!?

You were the one who brought it to my attention. Why didn't you mine or buy a load before creating all that hype ?

Just get on Allcrypt and stick half a bitcoin on at 3 or 4 Sats and wait a day or 2. You'll get the odd million dumped on you every few hours (unless your [FACT] post starts to find more of an audience and come back to haunt you, driving the price and difficulty up so the multi-millions are out of reach Smiley  ).

this Jackpot coin could quit likely erupt and go off with no warning what so ever at blazing speed.

Absolutely.

These days with the tsunami of alts, everyone's scouring for originality. It takes a while because coins get buried under the heap of clones, but once somebody shouts "over here" then that's it. I remember buying some Blackcoin way back simply because it was a "little" different. Not much, only a little because there were already POS's around. Before I knew it it blew up in my face - far higher than I expected. Unfortunately I sold after the first pump because I had a rule that coins with limited originality only had 1 pump and then dead. As it happened BC came back again.

This coin has far more potential than BC has in terms of technical characteristics IMO. It has 2 things in particular that converge in a very complimentary way - a 'party time' type socio-economic appeal with the jackpot thing and a technical appeal with the dual algos. (Not just for show either - the transaction speed is amazing).
7295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][JPC]JackpotCoin, First Jackpot hit! 90,000,000! on: May 05, 2014, 04:48:43 PM
well, I think that the 50/50 solution just satisfies both sides. For example: If you mine with like 1MH, you might not find a block for a long time (therefore no jackpot). If you have 300MH you will find blocks regulary, and you have a realistic chance of hitting the jackpot. Now, the small miners get a huge profit from the big miners anyway since they ensure that the small miner gets a regular reward.

I think it's just fair to honor that with a big share of the jackpot. And hey, even the small miner could find the jackpot it's just much more unlikely ^^ This jackpot thing is very special, and offering a big share if you hit it will attract more big miners to join a pool while they could easily solomine. Therefore the chances that at least half of the coins are spread between more ppl is much higher.

Good points. I'm coming round to this point of view.

Also, people understand "50-50". It would probably find widespread approval.

I like this one

Also think it's good except the plate's a bit too big retain the continuity of the text possibly.

I like the 50/50->split the most

I think this should be thought through analytically. What's the best principle:

[1] - for miners
[2] - for markets
[3] - for PR

My take:

[1] - if you're a miner then I suppose the idea that you've got a chance of "hitting" the Jackpot block is attractive. But statistics are against you and 99% of miners will never see anything of the Jackpot - or the majority of it - goes to only 1 miner. On the other hand, if they know that they'll get some kind of "win" if only their pool hits it then they'll keep mining and not give up after 2 weeks of mining and getting nothing (which will be the case for the majority). IMHO, the more that's distributed the better. Giving half to one miner is just pouring it down a hole when it could be creating a huge buzz for the many

[2] - as I said in a previous post, concentrating that much coin in the hands on 1 person is bad for market as well, no explanation needed

[3] - PR-wise it's going to look more "community oriented" if everyone has a reasonable chance at something as opposed to a snowball's hope in hell

EDIT: .... 50/50 might be ok (as a max). But market dumps could be a potential problem.
7299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][JPC]JackpotCoin, First Jackpot hit! 90,000,000! on: May 05, 2014, 03:31:45 PM

What method do you want to use our pool to handle regarding the Jackpot.

- Finder 50%, rest splitted among other miners for that round.
- Finder 100%

Surely the pool principle for finding and sharing blocks should extend to finding and sharing the jackpot ? After all, a block is just a miniature 'Jackpot' in itself.

If it's Finder = 100% then there's no point in joining a pool. You might as well solo mine and the whole point of Jackpotcoin is lost.

In fact IMHO, the Jackpot should be shared amongst the pool subscribers in exact proportion to rounds contributed and have nothing to do at all with the finder - perhaps a 10% bonus if even that.

The thing is, you want to attract lots of low power miners to the uniqueness of the mining experience, not a small number of GH/s elephants which is what the "Finder = 100%" rule will do. The great thing about this coin and pools is that small miners actually have a great chance of acquiring coin way above their equipment's mining capacity if they are in a pool that wins a Jackpot.

Don't make them miss out on that experience and excitement. The pool principle should make the most of this to attract miners.

************ b.t.w.  **************

I just realised, it will also help the price by distributing the Jackpot as widely as possible and having fewer whales dumping on everyone in the markets. The jackpot amounts recently approached one eighth of the entire mined coin supply. Putting that amount in the hands of a single person is potential market suicide.

Just check the specs. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=584481.0
