742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: May 14, 2022, 08:17:11 AM
I believe for any team to win this World Cup, they should've had a good preparation, a strong mentality, and at least some level of madness to go at any length or do anything to see their opponents off. I think team England is a good pick, actually they are always one of the favorite to win the competition at every edition but tend to fail woefully though because most times they lack one or two of the things I mentioned for any team to have in order to win the world cup.

Here are the odds of who will be the champion:

Brazil 5.50
England 6.50
France 6.50
Spain 9.00
Argentina 10.00
Germany 12.00
Belgium 13.00
Portugal 13.00
Netherlands 13.00

Teams below these have odds starting at 29, so they can be ignored. As you can see, this is a fairly even distribution - the first three have only twice the chances of the best than the last. It can be said that Brazil has an equal chance of winning with a pair such as Belgium + the Netherlands.

If I were doing research in gambling, it would rather be research in mathematics (including AI) or something similar (tangible), but not this empty demagogy about ethics.

Does even AI works in gambling ? AI may work on sports betting where you have some date to analysis but in casino gambling, even an AI and/or a robot will fail to come up with any meaningful results.
By the way, i never heard of thesis on Gambling , although thesis on AI video games is a completely different thing.

In addition to betting, there is also poker. As far as I know, the AI already plays better there than humans almost everywhere except for no-limit hold'em (although I have not been interested in current news for a long time, so maybe the AI is already better in every discipline). Probably all counting games (poker, blackjack, etc.) are good for AI, but such as dice or roulette are meaningless, since nothing depends on the player. But even in these types of gambling - sports betting, poker and other things, the work of AI is very interesting, since this is not the usual calculation of moves like in chess, but work with probabilities.

I have heard that the interest of a wide audience (especially young people) is declining even for events like the Olympics, I would like to know how things are with such local competitions. Maybe the situation is reversed here? After all, it is unlikely that Vietnam can dominate so much anywhere else, so those competitions where the athletes of your country are very successful should be more attractive.
745  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler turns 60 pence bet into £157,865.59 on: May 13, 2022, 05:46:32 PM
If you are interested in betting with large odds, that is, multibets, then you will be interested in reading my topic: Why a single bet is better than a multi bet. The strategy of betting on many events is very unprofitable and his winning is pure luck. Another question is that if you want to get such a huge odds, then you should multibet. But in fact, it is much more profitable to make such a bet in dice.

It is not about profitable or not, but it is more about preferences because betting in single bet may not something profitable for some users.
I'm not betting sports regularly but once I want to bet, I'll choose to play multi bets because I have the chance to win bigger with smaller bets.
Comparing multi bets in sports betting to dice (high multiplier) is not apple to apple because dice is pure luck based game.
Sports need some researches, knowledge, and analysis first before placing a bet.
Even if you are forcing to compare multi bets to dice, profitable or not is based on the final result not about what game to play.

I think this is a relevant comparison, because in a situation where the bookmaker makes an analysis and you do the analysis, and the real result is random, the redistribution of money goes at the expense of the bookmaker's margin. In this sense, betting is completely identical to other gambling games.
As I understand it, you have not read that topic, but just in case, I will tell you that, for example, in dice, the house edge is always the same for any multiplier - 1%. In bets, if you make a multibet of 10 events, the bookmaker's advantage will be 40%. The difference is huge, right?
746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: May 13, 2022, 05:21:30 PM

I would not advise anyone to play with the computer (unless it's a problem solving or tactical assault on chess.com which is very funny and useful for developing tactical thinking) as the computer plays boring (and hard even if you adjust the difficulty level) - it beats everything mood to play. Playing with a person is always more adrenaline and entertainment.
I am not sure it is the right time to learn playing board games. People do not have time to play board games.
THese board games were popular in 90's when friends and cousins used to get together and there was no distraction like mobile phones and TV. Chess is also dying game.

And what games do you think people have time for? Or do you propose not to play anything at all, but only to work?
It's kind of weird to hear that chess is a dying game, because if I'm on the internet chatting with a person from another country/culture and we suddenly decide to have some fun, then chess is more likely to be a common place where we can do it than any other computer game.

The KSA also gave an honourable mention to Damiaan Reijnaers for his bachelor’s thesis on the use of artificial intelligence in poker.

Hahahaha.

For me, it looks like one real paper with really complex and interesting material received "Thank you", and two papers with obviously less usefulness (one is completely garbage - reasoning about ethics) received cash prizes.

If I were doing research in gambling, it would rather be research in mathematics (including AI) or something similar (tangible), but not this empty demagogy about ethics.

750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Horse Racing and Gambling on it should be banned on: May 12, 2022, 05:02:01 PM
Yes they spend a lot to take care of these animals but then those are still an animal, they can be hurt and die during the game, I don't know too much about horse racing but I think they should have a maximum age required for a horse to use in racing. They can also try to make a digital horse racing so that nobody will be hurt, they just need to program it well to avoid glitches and not fair draw. I really don't tolerate horse racing or camel racing , though some say that it is normal for a horse to be used in racing then they should create rules for it to be fair in horses.

If you think globally, what should be the ethical use of animals? Only aesthetic? So the whole industry that makes new breeds (or makes sure existing breeds don't go bad) is supposed to work for free? I can't understand the economics of such an ethical world. It seems to me that it is possible, but it is unlikely that there will be as many horses as there are now (and are used in various fields).

This punter is either the biggest genius at analyzing British football in the world or he's extremely lucky(or maybe both).
Perhaps he could give some betting advice on Premier League and Championship games to us for free(or maybe for a fee).
I'm sure that he tried doing this in the past, but failed multiple times.Betting low amounts on a big sequence of games seems like an interesting strategy.I might try it.
Guessing the winning teams out of 16 games probably has lower odds than guessing the lottery numbers,I'm no mathematician. Grin
Good for him.He could reinvest that money into sports betting or start his own betting advice website.

753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: WE NEED A HALL OF FAME? on: May 12, 2022, 03:51:57 PM
What is the practical purpose of this? I can't understand what this would be useful for other than to amuse someone's vanity. In the gambling section, people write/read in certain topics and quickly understand whose analysis is interesting (after all, you can always look at the history of messages). I don't think this hall of fame will be really useful to anyone.

Well, why? Anyone who wants to amuse his ego can himself create a thread about his achievements and share there his story of winnings.

Many of us give some advice on the forum and I would be interested to know which of the forum users has a really advanced skills in a particular game of chance and such a theme would contribute to this.

Yes, I enjoy reading threads where people post their practical attempts to beat the bookmaker/casino, but unfortunately there are very few of them, for example, from long threads, I only see the thread from buwaytress. Others often appear and quickly disappear as the one who starts them quickly and loses his deposit.
754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: May 12, 2022, 03:35:38 PM
I am also of the opinion that England will go far in this World Cup. They have been doing an excellent job lately, and they showed it during the last Euro2020.

It will be difficult for them to win, but I believe they will be able to go far and maybe reach the final. If they go to the final and the coach doesn't invent much, they can win.

Of course, I would prefer Portugal to win  Roll Eyes , but I doubt it.

It all depends on how the draw goes, if in the 1/8 finals England gets on a strong team, then both success and relegation at an early stage are possible. In general, I think that a fairly large group of teams will claim the championship and the result will largely be random. When I think about who would deserve to be a champion, I understand that whoever wins will be very sad for many teams that historically deserve to become champions, but there is only one "vacancy".
755  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: May 11, 2022, 01:15:22 PM
By the way, which bookmaker is the most convenient for betting on this competition (as far as I understand, not everyone provides such an opportunity and the options in the line can be seriously different)?
if you're a casual player and you only bet in the popular markets (winner, total maps, etc), then Sportsbet.io with their daily price boost is a no brainer. If you want more markets (total drakes/barons, total inhibs, first blood, towers destroyed, etc), Thunderpick, Loot.bet and 500Casino are great choices. I'd go with the latter since they're pretty active here in btctalk

Thanks for the advice! I'm not a pro, so I'm more likely to bet on bo5 maps since you can always correct the game if something goes wrong, but I'm interested in looking at a wider line. Bets like first blood, number of inhibitors, etc. in my opinion, this is pure gambling (it is clear that supports are unlikely to make the first kill, but all this is taken into account in the odds, so betting on such an event is something like a coin toss).
756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PROS AND CONS OF CRRYPTOGAMBLING. on: May 11, 2022, 01:03:21 PM
This phrase sounds strange to me. Firstly, does this only apply to crypto gambling? Secondly, no gambling can be a source of stable income, unless of course you are from the side of the casino, although I have heard that sometimes even casinos get into temporary drawdowns due to the fact that someone hits the jackpot.
Hitting the jackpot should not affect the site itself and you should be alarmed if the site becomes inaccessible because that only means they are not that prepared to pay huge rewards. Pros and cons is there, just understand and know what to use on your next visit when you gamble, still enjoy every game and you can have a good gambling experience even if you lose money since its normal.

You're not right. When someone wins the jackpot or just a large amount of money, the amount of casino funds drops, so this reduces the maximum win that can be received by the next player. And the casino is forced to reduce the maximum bet that it allows players to make. You may have seen that many casinos have a program that allows investors to invest in the bankroll - this is just done in order to increase the funds of the casino.

I started playing a lot a couple months ago, my favorite website for chess is lichess.org
you can play on computer or download the app and play on the phone, I prefer playing on the phone buy on the computer you can draw lines and points of interest so I know people who likes it more.

lichess also has lessons and it's opensource

another big one is chess.com

you can find good videos and lessons on youtube too
if you're up to playing together send me a dm and I'll tell you my username there

I play mostly 5 minutes blitz and 10 minutes rapid games

It takes a while to get used to the clock and it's normal to blunder when we're starting, but I like that lichess plots a chart with your mmr and you can check your progress, I raised my ranking from >950 to 1250 on blitz and 1300-ish on rapid

it's fun and addicting!

758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PH banned online cockfighting - Worst gambling-related cases recorded! on: May 11, 2022, 12:37:32 PM
But the adoption of cryptocurrencies will make transactions with money even easier for children, right? But we do not oppose adoption because of this, but on the contrary, we are all waiting for it. All phenomena have both pluses and minuses, but we cannot constantly forbid something because the phenomenon is not ideal and has minuses. We need to look for other solutions to this problem.
Everything that is inhuman is banned but people find the way to have entreatment.
Guess what - in our country gambling is banned - but people have find bitcoin and last year there was a huge spike in the funds from the crypto owners.
So bans are there but people know how to break laws as well.

Exactly. Prohibitions only lead to new ways to circumvent them and in some ways draw people into still more illegal areas. I think that in cases where we are talking about a crime without a victim (who suffered from the fact that I "illegally" bet on cockfights?), punishments/restrictions should be removed and not vice versa.
759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Final! on: May 10, 2022, 03:01:54 PM
Apparently, Roma made a big bet on this final. Roma are currently playing Fiorentina and are losing 0-2 with 30 minutes left and it is unlikely that they will be able to avoid defeat. Thus, they become on the edge of the euro cups area. The best and most efficient way to ensure that Roma qualify for the Eurocups next season is to win the Conference League. I'm sure that now everyone in the team thinks only about this.
AS Roma having some good reasonable season under José Mourinho because currently they are at sixth spot with most chances they will be able to qualify for next years (Europa Cup Group Stage) even today they have not good time against Fiorentina and lost match by 2 - 0 and now on level in points with Atlanta and Fiorentina but in next match they can take some good advantage against Venezia which is already relegated and at bottom of league table.

But, for them playing a European final after many decades is still great achievements, and they can win this which is going to be amazing for them Feyenoord is not easy team to beat in European competitions, but they have good record against hem, and they are much better team in this final.

Roma are on the verge now, but they have a simpler calendar than their rivals, so I think they will get into the Euro cups and at the end of the Italian championship. But still, I hope that Roma win the Conference League and all those who criticized Mourinho at the beginning and middle of the season will think about their words. This is not a super achievement, but if you take the level of the club that Mourinho is coaching now, then probably now this is the maximum of what is real.

MSI 2022 is upon us. G2 to win their first game against EG at 1.6 odds is too good to pass up

in Antwerp the focus will be on ENCE - G2... this feels like a +2.5 maps match, doesn't it?

Ooh, good news! I love LOL tournaments. Here is a useful resource where you can view VODs of past games and get acquainted with general information and the tournament calendar. By the way, which bookmaker is the most convenient for betting on this competition (as far as I understand, not everyone provides such an opportunity and the options in the line can be seriously different)?
