741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you think people choose bitcoin as career? on: August 17, 2015, 09:59:09 AM
According to State of Bitcoin Q2 2015 by Coindesk, VC investment remained robust in Bitcoin industry. More and more people keep entering this field and devote themselves to bitcoin or cryptocurrency world. But why do people consider bitcoin or cryptocurrency as career?
Are they bitcoin fanatics who want to let the whole world know about it and use it? Are they businessmen who are smart enough to make a fortune out of it? Are they revolutionists who want to change the world currency?
Come and share your views on this. It doesn’t have to be your own stories. Some you know or the stories you’ve heard of are just fine.

Some of all of the above really, some people see it as a great hedge vs traditional markets, which it is, perhaps these people are only a little curious that it might change the world.  The hardcore devotee wants total bitcoin adoption to take away gov and bank powers... end result = world changed.
742  Other / Meta / Re: What is wrong with theymos and the other mods? on: August 17, 2015, 09:54:18 AM

I've been seeing tons of threads over at reddit, tbh there is an answer and that is to make your own social networks if you disgaree with current options.  Bitcoin could do with more forums etc to become more distributed.
743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is poker a game of chance or skill? on: August 17, 2015, 09:51:22 AM

Over the short term the luck is more relevant in poker, a fish can beat a shark in any single hand.  Over several thousands of hands+ the skill starts to win out and luck becomes irrelevant.

The exception is if you play tournament poker where a losing fish could be on a terrible lifetime run and then win the WSOP main event and be up a few million.
744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 17, 2015, 09:48:23 AM
My predictions for the upcoming Premier League matches -

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal - ARSENAL WIN
Manchester City vs Chelsea - DRAW
Liverpool vs Bournemouth - LIVERPOOL WIN

I don't like to go for over/under goals bets, I think it's a cowardly way to bet & the odds are rubbish. I see some tipsters suggest 'over 1.5 goals'. Most games have over 1.5 goals. I prefer to try & predict the outcome of the match for better odds. I don't go for odds like 1.16 - It seems a waste of time to me.

Pick 1 - CORRECT
Pick 2 - WRONG
Pick 3 - Still to play

Bad idea to bet on chelsea getting anything against that game vs city at home, i know its easy to say now but chelsea aren't looking as strong with no updates.  City looked great in the first game.

Tonight its hard not to bet on liverpool for a 2 or 3-0 win.
745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Windows 10 and Bitcoin Discussion on: August 15, 2015, 05:36:56 PM
keep using windows 7 or 8.
because we are still doubting about the bugs in windows 10.
you won't understand what the bugs will affect your computer if you are not a pro of computing.
using windows 10 will need us to do lots of configuration to prevent privacy failure.
so the bitcoin privacy, even if it is Qt.
i am still using windows 7, at least i am not been affected by windows 10, because that is as easy as windows xp.

avoid using bitcoin wallet if you use windows 10 apparently.

Windows 7 was sweet i was happy with that and now im finding myself avoiding buying laptops with more recent windows because ive never downgraded a version so i have no idea how its done.
746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Biggest Question Isn't Ease of Use, It's 'Why Use it?' on: August 15, 2015, 05:33:20 PM
When asked why bitcoin hasn't taken off as an electronic, online cash, it's become conventional wisdom to blame ease of use as the predominant issue. When compared to other payment methods, most say, digital currency simply isn't as user-friendly.

Do you agree?

Why use it?

Maybe the 1st world has more choice but it will become increasing popular to the global economy for 1.  Also even if you do have 1st world choices things like openbazaar will provide a unique service not possible without bitcoin.  Even for selling everydays things its going to be far better choice vs ebay.
747  Economy / Services / Re: 1k Visitors From Traffic Exchange on: August 15, 2015, 02:17:19 PM

I might be interested, 1k visitors to my site for $1 seems hard to believe but for 0.004 i'd be willing to test it out.  Do you have anyone here to confirm the service?

Sorry, but I just posted this so no one can confirm it. Please PM the the website you want to advertise and I will give free 50 hits. If you are satisfied opt for 1k Smiley

748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Bitcoin Client do you use and why ? on: August 15, 2015, 02:13:38 PM

Just download the bitcoin core wallet from scratch and it took 1.5 days which is pretty pleasing.  On an older laptop im 1 day in and looks like about 25% is done so far.... doh!
749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Looking for a poker site on: August 15, 2015, 02:11:46 PM
I'm looking for a poker site that looks like Texas Holdem Poker on facebook?

Nothing is quite like facebook poker i remember last time i played i had 2 aces all in vs a guy with AK and the flop came AAx.  Apparently they dont play with the regular 52 card deck.
750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 15, 2015, 02:06:22 PM

Man united off to a good start now with 2 wins.  Im going with 2 away bets today of stoke vs tottenham and everton to beat southampton away.  Smiley
manchester united got really lucky in the first 2 rounds, they won the first match with an own goal and totenhem was much better then them, and yesterday bearly against aston villa

Not expecting them to win the league but with the power they have its hard to see them not make the top 4.  If things are going bad mid season they can buy 2-3 world class players to turn things around.

753  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin - interplanetary currency? on: August 12, 2015, 06:57:59 AM
Since Bitcoin is the "currency of the internet" and the internet can be accessed with a satellite, could Bitcoin become the first interplanetary currency (in the Solar System, at least)?

If we had people living on the moon, you could send them funds instantly regardless of their country of origin, account status, etc.

Last night i saw what appeared to be a UFO, no kidding.  Was high cloud level and moving faster than a plane, also it didnt fade like a shooting star and moved for ages.  It also moved slightly side to side.   Then today i read this:

I do wonder if aliens will accept bitcoin, maybe they already have bitcoin which ended miner rewards years ago.

755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I doubled my bitcoin in last 3 months. How do you make money(bitcoin) online? on: August 10, 2015, 03:52:47 AM
There are a number of ways to make money online with or without a website.
I doubled my bitcoin(10BTC into 20BTC) in the last 90 days by investing to some online investment programs and some p2p loans.
No risks, no gain; More risks, more gains.  Forgive me, I won't expose and recommend the project which I doubled my bitcoin, as I know that it is very risky to invest in this kind of investment projects and need to do lots of research before investing my money.  This way maybe fit for me to make bitcoin, but not for everyone.

What way do you do it?

I just buy more when they price is cheap.  Investing takes skill knowing who to pick to invest into, also takes tme to research.  Doubling your money in 3 months might be running above EV, let us know how you do in the next 3 months.
756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 10, 2015, 03:46:54 AM
When I check Premier League scores this thread came to my mind. Very bad choices for first week.

Arsenal vs West Ham
Newcastle vs Southampton
Stoke City vs Liverpool

I'm going with all home wins today.

lol Yeah i had a shocker for predictions here.  I'm still going for arsenal for the title and after the result in the first match you can get much better odds for them to win now.
757  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex & Kraken bidding farewell to New York. Bitstamp applying for Bitlicense on: August 09, 2015, 04:16:00 PM
Seems like bitstamp are getting a hard time from the odd person on twitter for applying.  Im not sure its that big a deal is it?  If anything we'll see how much of a pain in the arse bitlicense is.  Its also not like bitstamp is the major player anymore.
758  Economy / Gambling / Re: Playing a few rounds of chess for bitcoins? on: August 09, 2015, 04:13:26 PM
Is there anyway we can play realtime online?

Not for bitcoins since its so easy to cheat chess online in a number of ways.  LOL at this bump btw 100 BTC back in 2010 was worth peanuts.
759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 09, 2015, 10:01:39 AM
This season arsenal is different than last season i'm confident arsenal win this match with margin goal 2 or more and liverpool will draw against stoke city

Im betting on arsenal to win the league this time around, city and chelsea haven't improved much with summer signing and man united aren't a team yet but rather a group of players.
760  Economy / Speculation / Re: Multiplying the price by 10 after each halving, is it right ? on: August 09, 2015, 08:55:14 AM
Hello,

I saw people talking about multiplying the price by 10 after each halving.

Let's say before the having we will have a price of $250 for example, then the rally after the halving would put us at $2,500 and so on.

Is it right ?

I'm trying also to figure a mathematical equation where how will the price moves after halving, in theory.

I think it will go up, its hard to find a reason why it wouldnt push the price up, if we look at litecoin it can be a good measure.  Maybe we would have a spike before the halving even happens.
