741  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Better way to earn a merit on: December 14, 2023, 04:58:50 PM
It obvious am new here yea am a newbies. What make a post earn a merit ? What are the characteristics of a good post and how do we earn a merit for our post and other activities happening here and how is Bitcoin always important in the forums . So Member, full member, hero member, Lagendary and so on pls let have the tips thanks 🙏❤️ #bitcoin Lords
youre welcome to the forum but let me go straight to the point and inform you that this is not a merit farm and as a beginner, you shouldn't be focused on earning merit as it will definitely become a whole bunch of destruction on it own. The forum is designed to talk about Bitcoin and the only reason why the concept of merit became necessary is to encourage individual that are giving in their time and effort in contributing meaningfully to the growth of the forum. You only get merited when you've made positive contributions to the forum that has helped the next persons doubt to be cleared or when you've shared a meaningful information or insight in the forum.

Engage positively in the forum and merit will come to you by itself but if you chase after merit, it will become very obvious and it might lead you to creating irrelevant topics that might make members of the forum avoid your account.
742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: i need your help, i forget to save the latest word of my seed on: December 14, 2023, 06:53:22 AM
hey guys, i'm  using a wallet from dogecoin and guess what i forget to save the latest word, please is there anything i can do to save ?
how did you forget to save the complete word from your seed phrase? That's a serious problem although if you have it already logged in on your devise you could easily access it.

Your security and access key is not what you should take for granted for any reason. It's as important as any amount of holding you have in your wallet and I just hope your account is already logged if not you might loss your coin forever.
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from crypto influencers on: December 14, 2023, 06:44:59 AM
Stop following crypto influencers, those of you who like using YouTube videos to pick coins and tokens to invest in you need to hear this, those crypto influencers on YouTube are getting paid to promote those projects they are chilling, why would they promise you 2x or 5x when they aren't part of the team themselves? They did this because that's how they make their own money. He who have hears let him hear.
so many people have fall victims of influencers promoting crypto they know little or nothing about and they just invest into it because are being promoted by their favourite celebrity.

I think we need to understand the difference between being an ambassador of something and actually sharing knowledge from a personal point of view. A lot of people have accumulated shit coin because of the hype by the person that did the promotion.
744  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Can Government ban Bitcoin in Nigeria? on: December 14, 2023, 05:25:53 AM
Government banning Bitcoin in Nigeria totally i think it will not be possible because i found out that Bitcoin is a digital currency in which you can not control but can restrict the usage through a particular country central bank, so i think it will be very difficult for Nigeria government to restrict the youths especially unemployed youths of not participating in anything cryptocurrencies. Even though Bitcoin will be ban in Nigeria i think it will not stop the existence of P2P exchange transactions, so i dont know why most at times many crypto investors get afraid of government banning Bitcoin in particular. i was told that in the two years Nigeria government ban Bitcoin but till date people are still transacting with Bitcoin, it can only be possible for a government if Bitcoin is a centralized currency but since its a decentralized currency and i think that government can only carry out a speculation and fake information about Bitcoin. So in summary government of a particular country dont have the power to ban existence of Bitcoin.
to say that the government of a country can't decide to ban bitcoin and any other cryptocurrency isn't totally true. Th fact that after a restriction has been placed on a articular thing, people still do it doesn't mean it can't be banned. It's true that bitcoin is decentralized and doesn't literally work based on government regulations and interventions but what to should understand is that the government has the power to decide what goes on in her  country and can issue a statement that any one found mining, trading or investing in bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency be arrested. What would you do about that?

The thing I have come t know about the ban on cryptocurrency by the FGN is that they've only disallowed banks from accepting it and demands that crypto funds in their custody be seized, I doubt that any bank will want to go against that directive but since I haven't found a law prohibiting citizens from holding bitcoin or engaging in the trading of bitcoin and any other cryptocurrency, it becomes now reasonable time to still invest and get involved in it without any form of fear.
745  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Nigeria with confusion on: December 14, 2023, 05:14:48 AM
After the fuel subsidy removal.many people started converting their various generator to be gas powered. When the country saw their successes and bravity, they started a slow and steady increment in the price of the gas leaving so many with regret meanwhile deterring others from following the trend.
One advantage of the gas is its inability to produce fumes and extends the lifespan and performance of the engine. But as a saying goes that every thing that has an  advantage must surely have a disadvantage. The disadvantage is that the qauntity and level of the gas can not be gauged or checked. Once the cylinder is epmty, the engine shuts down without letting you know. This has been the principal motive why vehicles are not using it since they can't see the level as not to finish while driving especially on a risky road.
no one is confused , what happening is that people are actually sourcing for alternative ways of remaining in their business by cutting down on expenses that comes their way as a result of the increase in the price of fuel. It's just unfortunate that they have to still consider the use of gas in the midst of the risk associated with it.

E de always pain me say whenever we want talk negative things about our country, we see always get wetin to talk because matters full ground but a situation when you done remove fuel subsidy but no put a reasonable modalities in place in ensuring the things becomes easier for the average man, what do you expect? I even thought that since they know that the price of fuel has seriously gone up that they will even think on making nepa to be coming regular but it even seems that they have even reduced the number of hours that they bring light. Na God go help us sha.
746  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our savings nai save us on: December 14, 2023, 05:02:17 AM
My country people I dy greet everybody, e get one matter wey dy happen for we country naija now concerning our savings.

Normally when we save na to use am do one thing or the other wey we don plan since tey tey, but due to hunger wey dy the land now,
na dat savings nai dey save us now from hunger, because e no easy because of the high cost of living.

To chop for the country now no easy, na our savings nai dey save us now, some families to see food chop twice in a day na war,
how una see this matter?
if you even try get savings when go fit save you for hard time your own good na. E get some people when no de even fit save because of the kind of work when dem de do.

Saving money is a very good habit that everyone  should practice especially in a country like ours that experiences some different form of hardship every year. Even if your primary purpose of saving is to start up a business or upgrade your life,.
it is better to borrow from your savings than to borrow from an external source.
747  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcointalk as a means of Job & Wealth Creation for Youths in Nigeria on: December 13, 2023, 09:53:50 PM
Bitcointalk.org has become a blessing a large number of unemployed youths in most low income countries around the globe.

From my observation, Bitcointalk.org has helped in creating wealth creation for thousands of unemployed youths.

This has helped in reducing unemployment and in turn boasting the Nigerian economy through Wealth Creation.

Thanks to the originator of this life saving platform that has engaged millions around the World.

Truthfully, platforms like this has helped in reducing crime rate in many Countries by engaging mostly the young generation that would have resorted to crime.

I have seen so many struggling youths, now financially self reliant and helping others around their communities with resources made via this platform.

Kudos to the inventor(s) of this great platform. 🙏👍👏✍️
this is a very childish post to be very honest. How does this platform help in solving the financial needs of the people you just mentioned?

Do you even know the essence of this platform?
Do you consider this place an office or what?

Instead of looking for ways to read and learn from peoples experience on the platform, the only thing you're entered in is money, money, money.

You're a very unserious perdon.
748  Economy / Gambling discussion / The need for mental section or public orientation for new gamblers. on: December 13, 2023, 07:26:53 PM
We know that gambling can be very addictive for people who might not be going about it responsibly and that if most beginner are not properly guided by experienced individual that have heard a share of their personal experience in irresponsible gambling,  they will become a victim of gambling addiction and might have a marred thought process as it regards safe gambling

so I'm thinking if it would be possible for a thread or sub board to be created in the form of a mental  orientation section that people can just visit and go through ethics of responsible gambling, share experiences and current challenges faced as a gambler. It could just be used for discussions regarding responsible gambling and do if ones goes through the board or thread, while starting or going about his gambling, their will be check in his jar it as a result of peoples lives experiences he has read.

I just said I should air this out, I don't know if this is possible or a better suggestion should be giving.
749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think that this is aperfect analogy of how gambling addiction starts? on: December 13, 2023, 07:11:31 PM
Read this transcript of Basically, your opinion.

The only reason you would gamble is if you decided, "I am going to lose money; the fun I have while I am losing money is worth it." "I
this is a one sided analogy regarding peoples thought process before even starting gambling. For some, this is true because they just want to have fun and really become too concerned about the amount they use in the course of the gamble, others start gambling because for some, they've watched how the whole gambling process works and have gambled in their mind and have seen results and just feel it's only wise to put in an extra effort in doing anysid into the given gambling to understand it more and after a  while, you see them fully emerged in the activity of gambling.
750  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Kuda warns users to be aware of social media scams on: December 13, 2023, 05:35:06 PM
Greetings everyone, gor those perspns using kuda microfibance bank. I recieved an email and notification from kuds that we shpuld be aware of social media scams. I know some persons might me aware by not but for those who do mot have the information. I said i should share it here so that we can stay safe using our mobile bnking app.

Cant find the screenshot i did. But others can attest to it.
social media scams no be today something but what should have been a great concerned is if their mobile application has been compromised.

Wetin I de fear sometimes for some of this microfinance banks and their mobile banking services be say e fit de possible say them clone the app then create a similar one when he fit use the collect people money on a low.

My aunt been don order something from jumia and the thing never arrive till now and from wetin them been de talk na say the jumia app been declined and say them download the wrong one. I don't know how true that is but if them go fit clone apps like juma, although I don't know how true it is, microfinance banks mobile apps for de compromised.

For me, I don't even like to save much money in my mobile apps to avoid stories that torches the heart.
751  Other / Beginners & Help / How you start a particular journey matters a lot. on: December 13, 2023, 04:59:04 PM
I've read so many threads where people assert that they sold or intend to sell an asset just because they want to invest in Bitcoin, while this might present the person as someone who believes so much in Bitcoin and even went to the extent of selling an asset just to invest into it, is it the right thing to do?

I have attended a lot of business seminars and one of the key advice we receive most of the time is not to start up a business with borrowed money as it will put us under unnecessary pressure and the outcome doesn't always end up well and although selling an asset to start up a business or in this context, buying of bitcoin isn't directly borrowing, but it goes a long way to show how unprepared you are, venturing into that business.

And I guess this is the reason why a lot of people can't hold their bitcoin for a while before selling it off in times of minor challenges.

I still will want to reiterate that the idea of investment isn't for people with no source of income who have to start up their bitcoin investment journey with the money realized from the sell of an asset or even considering using a borrowed money, it won't let you to invest profitably and so I just want to advice all the newbie and old folks that intend accumulating bitcoin but that don't have a means of doing so now to work first In their personal lives and ensure that they get something going on in their lives before venturing into accumulating Bitcoin.

Remember that bitcointalk.com is not an office and so you should find other sources of income and then you will appreciate the forum and your holding will not become the nearest option to consider whenever an emergency sets in.
752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You must have a source on: December 13, 2023, 04:34:40 PM
You must have a source of income if you must succeed in your holdings.

For the few years I have been into cryptocurrency, I have discovered that you can't hold till the right time if your don't have a source of income. Just imagine that you have a pressing basic needs like feeding or rent, then you don't have money  to finance it, you will be forced to sell your Bitcoin at a loss if you don't have a source of income outside your holdings.

Most people that have sold their Bitcoin holdings at a loss or at an average price actually have the patience but don't have the knowledge of how to hold, because a good holder must be aware that he needs a source of income for him to be able to consolidate to his holdings.

It has happened to me severally, I have been able to hold now, since I started working as a merchandiser with Guinness, I think most times, experience is the best teacher.
this is so true. I have read a lot of thread when people will say that they sold their personal property before they are able to buy a bitcoin, the thing always sound very funny to me because how can you sell off your asset just to buy make investment? My knowledge of investment has always been that you have some reserve fund that is not in use at the moment and so you want to out it into something that will course the money to increase in it value with time.

How do you then successfully make an investment when you don't have a source of income? I think at the stage when you don't have a source of income, what you need is a job or business that you can start and will be certain that on a daily or weekly bases, you will be getting some funds from it.

Investment is for working class individual and to be really honest, if you're not working, you shouldn't think on making any investment and that include buying of Bitcoin.
753  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you still use Banks ? on: December 13, 2023, 04:15:17 PM
We have cryptocurrency you still use Banks ?
The bank online many times not working slow Also i want to transfer fast to Canada to russia i cant do that or india to USA i cant do that i need instantly.
Also i asked money my bank dont give so If the bank don't help me to get rich then i dont need them.
Do you still use Banks ? Im using only cryptocurrency debit cards and they always work better than bank.
So Im still surprised If anyone still use Banks they are old

Do you use more crypto or banks for your daily or average transactions ?
Do you have had problems with hackers or someone steal money from your cryptocurrency or bank
Do you think banks not working reliable any more ?

I teach all my family to use cryptocurrency becouse i dont trust Banks and i think If you can tell your bank mind your business you are scam i told my bank If you not give me loans or credit i dont need you and i close it
does the use of Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency stop one from using banks? Who have you the impression that banks are not functional and should be done away with?

Maybe you should understand that their are things that will come to your mind and it's just best to leave it there and never spill it out.

Bitcoin is bitcoin and it has it own advantages and disadvantages and their area of use and application varies in their unique way.

In my country for example, what is common and popular for people is the bank and they are rendering the needed service to the best of their ability, the youth and educated adults knows about cryptocurrency and are the ones currently using it. If you tell an average market woman to invest her money into bitcoin, she won't even understand what you are saying but saving her money in the bank won't be a big deal because she knows a lot of people doing it and might have been saving her money in the bank already.

The issue with our local board be say as we no really get a unique local language when no de associated with English e de always de difficult before we go create post when an outsider when we smart no go fit decode wetin we de try talk.

If like say our general language na something like Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba,  e for no b problem because we for easily yarn am without a third party knowing what we are even saying.

Another thing I de see as a minor problem be say some of us for real life fit no de all that good for the pigin English and even when once in a while dem fit just use am write, as e be say the normal English don master them, dem go always see themselves going back to the use of pigin on a regular bases.

But in the midst of all this things, make we still de try to de post more often with pigin. E go show the uniqueness of the local board. I know say most of us including me don fall serious victim of using more of Goood English pass pigin but we go try improve sha.
755  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Cybercrime (fraud). on: December 13, 2023, 03:52:57 PM
Lately, we've had a whole lot of threads on the board talking about cybercrime and while this is a general problem that is of great concern to every Nigerian that wants the reputation of the country not to become tarnish by these ill act, I still feel that we aren't painting the right picture regarding this snf let me also state this very clear that the issue of cyber crime isn't peculiar to Nigeria alone, their are lot of other countries and nationality engaging in this awful act.

Because it has beenme out reality that most of our youth are tilting to this direction, it's very necessary to look at the root of this problem and find a way of addressing the problem from their.
The reason why the strategies by our leaders is not yielding any positive result is because what they do most of the time is to threaten this guys and sometimes make arrest offer which they get themselves freed by paying a certain amount of money. This goes to show that the problem isn't just about cybercrime but more of the corrupt mindset that the average nija man has and what we should be talking about should be on how we can sensitize people for follow the right processes of getting things done.

That mentality that their is always a shortcuts to achieving things is one of the major problem of the country because most persons just think since making morning legimsteoy is difficult, the only shortcut is to go into criminal activities just to secure the bag

We need a lot of sensitization and rehabilation to be done on not just our youth, bit also on our children that will take on the affairs of the nation. I guess that's the only easy we can solve the problem of cybercrime and other criminal activities in the country.

Congrats on reaching the 10-year milestone here in this forum. It seems you found Bitcoin at a very early age. Smiley Hopefully, you did not miss the advantage of investing in Bitcoin Smiley

Tbh, I feel very happy when I see the old guys basically who registered during 2010-14, and also feel they are very lucky that they heard about Bitcoin at the early stage.

wow wow wow! Them years must have been a whole bunch of journey and experience so far.

A huge congratulations from me here

I'm just wowed and I'm hoping some day I will get to this height.

Why I reason una this matter nah because of wetin I see for this Forum, the battle wey dey go on for one thread like that, them dey use words wey no healthy at all, and I feel say we suppose avoid that kind for here.

Make we stand strong for Us, make nobody go do back bitting because you wan become OGA or MADAM for this Forum.
before you  expect our local board members to stand up for you, it's necessary you ensure that you have good reputation in the forum and that you're not breaking any of tys forum rules so someone won't implicate himself just because he is trying to protect you.

If you have a good reputation in the local board, it's very easy for someone to stand up for you in other boards when you make any questionable activity and if you're able to explain yourself properly, you might not necessarily need an help from any external person.

Just play safe and protect yourself first before looking for help from an external source.
759  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Why we must heal our inner self on: December 12, 2023, 06:31:18 AM
In a digital age where everybody want to stay connected and updated ahead of everyone we tend to loss ourself in the media. The problem of being online always slowly start to creep up in our lives and with time it engulfs us, from official mails, IG, Facebook, TikTok for content, digital media has in all its power consume our lives. The constant obsession with mobile phone, ipad and Laptop has practically taken away our lives. Trauma can come from the form of childhood incident, relationship problems and disagreements at work and so on but as long as we do not detached ourselves from the cell, We cannot heal or move on. Be careful and patience out there happy Christmas in advance
this is a very interesting topic although I feel that you've actually not done the right justice to it.

The social media has greatly eaten deep into the lives of most people and has almost taken a great portion of our daily experiences out of us. Most persons can't even bond well with there family members as they now spend most of their time on the internet and have few or no time left that they use to carry out most physical interaction.

The fake lives and false narrative on the internet has destroyed most marriages and families because most of them are trying to copy what they've seen on the internet into their normal lives without understanding that they are mostly impracticable in the real world.
760  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quite interesting - How long would it take for the average user to achieve Hero? on: December 12, 2023, 06:15:48 AM
I've been pondering this question for a little now since I would like to contribute to the forums and provide interesting topics as well as explore the website and eventually rank up here.

How long would it take for someone who contributes often to get to this "Hero rank?"

How about average users who don't often contribute? How long would it take for them to achieve the role? Any estimates?
ranking up in the forum is a testament that you have been an active member of the forum that has positively affected the forum through referring of your wealth of experience and insight into the discussions in the forum. If you give more contributions through your meaningful post and replies, you will easily rank up to whatever level you are aspiring to within the shortest possible time.

Ranking up isn't a function of how long you've started in the forum. Their are members that will achieve a snr member within three months of joining the forum while some might even take a year plus just to attain that height, try difference is that one is an active member of the forum that is sharing his positive insight with the board while the other might not be all that active.

One thing I have also learnt about the forum with regard to growing in rank is that one need to continue engaging in post that he is knowledgeable about if you have an answer to a question that is being asked in the forum don't close your mouth and allow it pass you by, say something and when the time comes, you will get rewarded.

But if you decide to attain any height in the forum and you put in the needed effort, it won't take time before you attain that height.
