741  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ★★★ MAKE .2 BITCOIN A DAY ON THE DEEP WEB!!!! ★★★ on: November 19, 2016, 10:13:28 PM
Deep web or dark web? You can't access a whole hell of a lot of the deep web (for good reason). If we can assume you're talking about the dark web, is this something illegal? Again, I'm assuming it is otherwise why would it need to be done on the deep dark web?
742  Other / Meta / Re: [Interest Check] - User Rank 'Banned' on: November 19, 2016, 04:27:50 PM
I'm all for the rank 'banned'. It would help for naming farmed accounts and not having to worry about them anymore. I don't see what harm could come from the new title being added to a profile so hopefully it's implemented in the new forum if not this one  Cheesy
743  Other / Meta / Re: Nuke this guy please on: November 19, 2016, 04:25:13 PM
Oh good it's not just me reporting his thread then. I saw that you said you did some posts and weren't paid so that to me is definitely a scam. Whether or not it's a scam is kind of irrelevant when he's spamming too. I don't think my reports have been processed yet though because my percentage of accurate reports is still bogged down  Shocked
744  Other / Meta / Re: New Global Moderator Election [Discussion] on: November 19, 2016, 04:15:56 PM
These days, this forum is all noise, virtually no signal. Have fun moderating it.

That's the idea. Try to bring the noise back down to normal. I'm sure it's affecting business but something can really only be done once it's proved to Theymos, right?

Hell I'd take over if they'd take me. The worst boards IMO are the bitcoin discussion board, anything in economics and even the marketplace a lot of the times needs heavy moderation just to keep the signature spammers at bay.

I must admit I voted based on who's presence I see the most on bitcointalk. Lauda and Achow101 are very active and Mitchell is active too so that's what I based my votes on. Is there somewhere where we can see the differences between the ranks (because I really don't know what they are other than moderating the whole forum rather than just one section)?

Report a lot of posts (somewhat accurately at least) and theymos might, when we need more patrollers (or maybe even board mods).

Well it's true you learn something every day. I didn't even know there were such thing as patrollers. I guess that's why the 'patrol' option exists haha. I have a look through there every so often and report all of the spamming newbies.

<...>

Admins: can do everything imaginable on the site. They however can't delete their accounts.

Global Moderators: can perma ban, nuke newbies, see and handle reports from all sections, and see reported PMs.

Moderators: can see and handle reports from their sections and nuke newbies

Patrollers: Are essentially Moderators but can only do moderator tasks for newbie members.

<...>

Perfect! Thank you very much!
745  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.3 BTC payback in 15 days on: November 19, 2016, 03:59:52 PM
I'd suggest closing the thread before someone gives you negative trust. There is no way the account in the OP is worth .3BTC.
746  Other / Meta / Re: New Global Moderator Election [Voting] on: November 19, 2016, 03:03:46 PM
1. Achow101
2. Lauda
3. Mitchell
747  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What payment processors do you use? on: November 19, 2016, 02:59:39 PM
I just saw this announcement for a new one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1686045.0;topicseen

I haven't used it but it's open source so I'd say it's worth looking into at the very least.
748  Other / New forum software / Re: Banning look-alike characters in usernames on: November 18, 2016, 06:15:14 PM
Going to bump this old thread because it just makes sense.

I could literally make infinite OgNasty accounts right now that would be

OgNasty        .
OgNasty       .
OgNasty           ,
OgNasty                ,
OgNaßty
OqNasty
OgNāsty
OgÑasty
OgNästy
OgNasfy
0gNásty

I mean the list could go on forever. I think special characters should = characters and spaces should have a limit (one or 2 spaces. I never see a reason for more in a name).

Also, make any font show zeros like ∅ and O's like O. Same with I(eye) vs l (elle).

It seems so simple but will save a lot of newbies from being scammed.
749  Other / New forum software / Re: Do we have a night mode in bitcointalk forum? on: November 18, 2016, 06:03:14 PM
I'd be a huge supporter of any sort of dark theme. I'm always using bitcointalk on my phone and it gets way too bright at night. Switching between light and dark would be nice but dark is a must this day and age!
750  Economy / Goods / Re: [Price drop] Create secure paper wallets with an Ubuntu Live USB 0.025BTC each on: November 18, 2016, 05:36:31 PM
If someone knows how to use ubuntu to generate addresses offline, then they know how to use the deadass simple USB installer for ubuntu and they can make their own.

That's exactly what these are for.

I offer a guide with step by step instructions showing how you can create paper wallets for people who don't know how or don't have the time/knowledge to create live USBs. I also offer a guide on how to securely create vanity Paper wallets. Something I couldn't find anywhere.

If you already know how to create paper wallets and create an Ubuntu stick then this isn't the product for you although I'm sure you're well aware of that. Nice signature.
751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The grandpa challenge! on: November 18, 2016, 01:10:38 PM
forget the whole idea. get some cash off grandpa when you see him. if you have to cover some short term expense then so be it. anything else will be a disaster.

i know loads of people like this. they can't be trusted to buy a plastic bag off amazon without ordering a 50ft fibreglass elephant. someone like that could not obtain and send bitcoin successfully if your life depended on it.

First of all it was a giraffe you dang whippersnapper. Secondly when I was in the army my platoon was marching... Zzzzz

I do believe if you email grandpa a link to download any software where you can control his screen you'll be set. Just don't let him do anything then you don't have to trust him! After you send yourself the $1000 (or whatever) transaction he can play around if he wants to with tiny amounts and lose it all somehow haha.
752  Economy / Goods / Re: [Price Drop] 2x New Unopened BlackBerry OEM Headphones 0.01BTC Each + shipping on: November 17, 2016, 05:47:10 PM
I want to buy them both but how much it will cost to deliver in the Philippines? If the price + shipping will not go higher than the prices in malls here i will take them both.

I'll get a quote for you. If you can PM me your 4 digit postal zip code (assuming google is right and that's what you have in the Philippines) I can get an accurate amount for you.

I have pmed you already,  as what i had speak i will only buy them if they are cheaper than the price here. So dont expect at me too much because i will refuse to go to deal if the price not suits my interest.

Ok I got the quote for you. Let me know if you're interested. Like I said, I have a third set of headphones as well. They're black and a little different (again from a BlackBerry though. I love my blackberries haha!). I'll upload a picture here so you can see. Let me know if the price is right for you. The shipping is the same for 2 or 3.

I have used different headphone brands but no blackberries yet but i like black, so i would prefer black. And about the price i think its not good for me because i can buy them for aapproximately $5 here each.

Well BlackBerry headphones are awesome quality and I'm selling them for very cheap considering the quality. The black ones are stay in your ear headphones that have some extra rubber to make them very secure in your ear and I can tell you the sound quality is amazing. They all have that handy little 'remote' on the headphones that let you pause or skip a song without unlocking your phone.

Also I don't know how well known bitcoins are in the Philippines so I'm not sure if your mall takes bitcoin payments. Here's a picture of everything I have. PM me your address if you're interested.

753  Economy / Speculation / Re: We reached $1000CAD again! Woohoo! on: November 17, 2016, 05:28:13 PM
Yeah, we hit about $1010 momentarily in June, touched $1000 on Nov3 and again briefly on Nov9, but in this last day we seem to have broken through.

It's been solidly over $1000 for quite a few hours now and when it touched $1013.64 tonight, that was the highest it's been in almost 3 years.

This shows the value of Bitcoin. We not only earned from Bitcoin increasing in value, we also earned from keeping our money elsewhere than fiat currency. As the loonie tanked, our bitcoins kept growing.

Woohoo indeed.

Cheers.

Lol I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the Queen was toasting to i that picture Wink.

I just love that our loonie tanked while the bitcoin price went up. I started buying at the 300-400 range so it's going to have to be a 66% drop before I lose any money. I'm in for the long haul at this point (obviously).

Edit: just me being neurotic but I also like the fact that when someone says they'll pay some arbitrary amount of bitcoins I don't have to whip out a calculator anymore to figure out 843xY=Z CAD$ lol. It's $1000 a bitcoin give or take so BTC0.01 is $10 BTC0.5 is 500. Easy peasy lemon squeezey Wink.

756  Economy / Speculation / We reached $1000CAD again! Woohoo! on: November 17, 2016, 04:07:14 AM
I've been watching the price all day and it's been hovering around $994 or $996. I just had to take a picture and share it! Woohoo! The last time I saw $1000 was just around the halving.

That's big news for us Canadians!

Edit: still good news but the sig spammers have come with their unwanted off-topic nonsensical crap so this needs to be locked now!!! Woohoo to all Canadians! The loonie sucks right now but bitcoins are doing great! It's a perfect situation for us!
757  Economy / Services / Re: _‎„~"¯"^»~-‎ Chris!'s paper editing service -~«^"¯"~„_ on: November 16, 2016, 06:01:36 PM
I'm free to do some editing if anyone has a job for me! Send me a PM or reply here.

I prefer to have a week to edit large projects (10+ pages) but we can always get it done in time if you need it sooner. I do require at least 48h for smaller projects as well.
758  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Nintendo classic/ NES Classic on: November 16, 2016, 05:54:40 PM
Have you tried doing nationwide searches on craigslist?

I forget some of the sites but you can find them on Google

I tried Kijiji. It seems to be bigger in Canada. I don't know anyone that uses Craig's list to be honest. I think it's an American thing (maybe I'm wrong?). I'm just sort of sitting tight to see if any local stores or online places get them back in stock. Only if I'm desperate will I end up paying maybe $120 CAD. I couldn't justify throwing away more money than that. It's just kind of a nostalgic gag gift.
759  Other / Meta / Re: [FANT] Fight Against Negative Trust on: November 16, 2016, 05:30:52 PM
If you don't trust someone's rating, exclude them for the network. That is all the power you need. If someone fucks up royally they will be excluded in time. There is no need for a jury as trust feedback is a personal thing. If I don't trust you I have the right to leave a negative feedback. Wink

Also, who judges the judges? Theymos, Cyrus or BadBear? All of them are busy enough as is. Pick people to be in the jury or judge the jury? Well, how do you know someone will be integer? It's a bad idea all around.

Have you ever watched Bull? We'd need to hire Dr. Bull to get an objective jury haha Wink

No but seriously just PM the person that left you negative feedback or PM the DT1 member. If it's true trust abuse they'll be found out soon enough. That's what happened to DT members in the past and I'm sure at some point will happen in the future. (Canary in the mine as an example. He used to be DT1).

Do we not already have a jury? All those on the default trust network high enough for their ratings to matter can negate and thus essentially remove ratings by others. All other ratings usually do not matter. I got some very obvious "false" trust feedback on my profile. At the very best it serves as a joke for some.

Idk shorena. How do we know if this is legit or not without a jury?

Quote
@He is a MotherFucker, he kept fucking his mother Because she gave his father a Positive trust. He has many accounts over the forum and keep scamming people here.

Although they did seem to forget their reference link. Maybe we should hold a vote to see if this is legit Wink. Oh and just for the record I snipped the other 20x they copy and pasted that onto your trust.

I receive negatives when I get retaliation feedback and like others it's just kind of a joke to me. My first feedback was I'm a spamming and I scammed them 21M bitcoins... So if you just use your head it's obvious who you should or shouldn't trust.
Unfortunately, the trust system is far from perfect but it's also the best possible system (for now), unless someone comes up with a better system. From your proposal about the jury, It would just add a lot of extra work for admins, that's why trust isn't monitored or being controlled here. In cases of extreme abuse, usually admins help.

Yes in extreme cases the trust will be altered anyways so I don't see the huge concern.

@op how are these jurys decided? Just a random number generator that chooses 12 people to vote? What if 10 of those people are inactive and 2 are scammers? What if one is an alt of the other scammer and you have a hung jury because of it? Is it majority rules or does the jury need to be unanimous?

It just seems like exponentially more work for everyone involved. Why not just make a 'common sense while trading ' thread to help people out? Oh wait. We have those. Newbies asking for 5BTC loans will get negative trust. It's just going to happen. If there's a legitimate case where nobody knows what to do then DT members can sort it out themselves. They are the jury. If you don't agree with a negative then give the user a positive to counteract it. You don't see that very often though.
760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EBay and Bitcoin on: November 16, 2016, 05:24:25 PM
Ebay has a ton of exposure. Honestly a lot more than bitcoin. PayPal is owned (but now a separate entity) by eBay. They most likely won't be accepting BTC anytime soon if it's still looked at as competition. If PayPal starts accepting bitcoin as a currency then we're golden.
