7401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 12GB/6GB RTX 2060 on: March 29, 2022, 12:52:05 AM
RTX2060 are of two types? I don't know lol 😆  today I saw one with 12GB and one with 6GB, is there any advantage in mining hash rate differences between these two graphic cards?

the 12gb is a newer version simply has more ram.

so far i have not got better than 30mh with it.

Wrong, it is not only more vram on this card - this 12gb card is combination of 6GB and 2060 Super - Same shader and RT cores like the 2060 Super, but only the memory interface of the normal 6GB variant - 192bit = result in a hashrate up to 35 - 36mh with the same powerconsumption like the 2060 6GB
Why people spreading false information - it is no problem if you didn´t know something and when you are to lazy to search for the right answer - but then don't write something

I have 12 evga cards they do 29 and 30 mhs

they are 12gb. now if you can give me the settings for my evga to do 35 or 36 mh I will try them. and I would tip you if I can improve from my hashrate.

maybe it is because I do smos.

if you notice I have all 12 cards set to -200 core 100 memory and 95 watts

but when you look at the readouts the watts on the cards are all fucked up

not my video I am using smos which its a lot like hiveOS

I suspect my linux driver sucks

I will try this on windows next

I am getting 111 watts and 34mh on windows nice hash .

So I think both linux hiveOs and Linux smOS need driver updates

will play some more on windows as I think it is best for this gear.

it is pointed below to test it.

I just got 12 evga 2060 cards.  12gb version.

they seem to not be optimized for your smos.

any suggestions?

Yeah...the world economy is doing sooo fkn well, that Apple is cutting back their new iPhone SE production by 20%.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/03/28/apple-reduce-production-budget-iphone-se-china.html

Their BUDGET model. By 20%.  Roll Eyes

And if they increased BUDGET model production by 20% you'd be screaming how bad the economy is, "people can't afford the more expensive phones anymore".

Dumb consumerism is dumb. Blowing money on disposable crap is not an indication of strong (or weak) economy, it's an indication of stupidity and vanity.

my 99 dollar android is a lot cheaper than a 1100 dollar iPhone.
7405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 28, 2022, 03:03:29 PM
Why so pessimistic on the price? I'm predicting $120K by year end and that's conservative

Because we're not going to see that kind of price until closer to next halving.

It's contagious. ...LFC.. and likely a few other purported longer term BTC bulls expressing similar sentiments regarding our likelihood for flat or down all the way through this calendar year, perhaps most of next calendar year too and into early 2024.. It's almost as BIG as a holy fuck (or is it sheeeeit) that we can be considering that king daddy is somehow constrained by calendar years and 4-year fractals and nonsense timing frameworks like that when the top for this cycle that we are currently in has been manipulated to fuck, and most likely delayed (postponed) rather than cancelled... but hey, think what you like.

You mean that I should be intently listening to the same clowns that were sooo like "Bitcoin is gonna be over $200K by Dec 2021!!!! Because PlanB said so!!! His data is irrefutable!!!" ?

That crowd?

No thanks JJG.

I know the kind of fuck ton of real fiat $$$ it would take to get from where we are current at, to > $100k STABLE PRICE. And I can tell you that, we're just not seeing it rn.

Moving above 100k and staying there is easy.

about 1.5 trillion gets us there for good.

that is not a lot of money.

200k would be harder for this year.

I see no reason that getting above 100k and staying there is hard.

But I am not sure the big players have that in mind.

If they want 100k plus this year and no drop under 100k it is done in the blink of an eye 👁.

7406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: It doesn't look like GPU will be cheaper unless crypto market dumps on: March 28, 2022, 01:04:35 PM
If you were to invest something like a mining operation, you would surely watch the mining profitability whatever market season it may be. I don't think investors of that would be stupid enough to just get into it without any research or something related to that.

I am making bank as best as I can.  Wink
What do you mean by making bank? Mining more? Or buying more GPUs?
I guess he is storing USD or stable coin instead, preparing for survival in the bear market lol, I hope this final moment of ETH mining will be incredible profitable once again for all miners.

Maintaining the cash to gear to coin to debt ratios as best as possible.

Debt = 0 at this moment.
Cash = 10%
Coin =  10%
Gear =  80%

So I keep debt at zero
I am increasing cash %
I am stabilizing coins %
I am lowering gear    %

7407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: It doesn't look like GPU will be cheaper unless crypto market dumps on: March 28, 2022, 02:57:30 AM
GPU price goes back up in two days interval, I think the only reason why GPU price can dump is if the crypto market crash one way or the other, three days ago on aliexpress I saw 1660supers at 430$ and I was talking to the store owner thinking about buying 6 of the cards but today the price is at 450$ again, are GPU sellers also watching the mining profitability or what?.

This doesn’t mean much. Prices on aliexpress change all the time. I think it’s the owner competing against one another or they are ramping up the price to later discount it and show that it’s on sale. I wouldn’t look too much into this. Wait a few more days and price will probably come back down.

Regarding GPU prices coming down? Well if the merge for ETH happens in June and it’s confirmed then it means that miners will be dumping GPUs since there is nothing else to mine really.

However this won’t happen until we get a set fork date and fork block. Maybe in 2 months time we will get provided this.

Or in 2 months we ge a delay.

Or better yet.

We go pos for a few weeks and go back to a new al-gore-rhythm  and mr v explains that the pos deception was a move to crush asics and 70% of the network was asics and by pretending to go pos it crushed asics. and those that held the cards and mined will score bigly beyond their wildest dreams.

And bitmain and innosilicon  get crushed with their shit asics.  Why not?

Here is some logic.

a true and full switch to pos hurts intel, amd, nvidia, bitmain, innosilicon.

while a fake out move to pos and back to a different pow hurts bitmain , innosilicon.

Mr v explains that this was all necessary to truly prevent asics from killing off eth.

Seems to me my idea is very possible. Just as possible as a full switch to pos.  MR V is a slick dude.  But Pissing off AMD , Nvidia , Intel , Bitmain and Innosilicon is not so smart.

One can dream.  Grin

HAHAHAHAHA

Strike every single thing that I said or may have said about sideways or down in the past 3 months-ish.    Tongue

FUNNY how quickly the tune can change around these here parts.

Hope we do not get a $10k or a $20k UPpity candle.  That surely would ruin dddeee moo for the fence sitters... the down waiters and those who failed/refused to sufficiently/adequately pee pare their lil selfies for UPpity..... hahahaa

the Sunday evening wall report

Strong upward impulse in late trading today sends bitcoin up over $47k for the first time in months. Hodlers rejoice! Significant overhead resistance remains but a challenge of the kijun sen seems inevitable at this point near the $51kish mark.

7410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH mining nearing end of life - When will you liquidate your rigs? on: March 28, 2022, 12:41:46 AM
Mine and cash out? You think that's a good strategy? What good can come from holding cash? I'm planning on mining very good altcoins like Bitcoin gold, Bitcoin ABC (XEC), Flux, Ravencoin and hold for a long term, probably when another BTC halving takes place and see if bull market will make a come back and start selling my bags.

For a guy like philipma1957 he can holds cash to enjoy next opportunities like:

1 - Bitcoin crash to increase amount of coins, paying cheap
2 - Cheap hardware to expand his mining operations
3 - Invest in more solar energy

You said you're planning to mine altcoins and hold until next cycle, it's important to have cash to maintain your operations without any profits if necessary.
Each situation requires different plans, and having cash is essential to enjoy the greatest opportunities if we enter in a bear market or a bad market for miners.

Me and my three partners finally positioned ourselves where we want to be.

45kwatt solar array
115 kwatt solar array
280 kwatt solar array.

cash sitting
doge sitting
xec sitting
btc sitting
eth sitting.

Not rich but maybe in a few years time we will be there.

My only regret is I am 65 my partners are 58 , 45 and 25.

I would love ❤️ to keep doing this for decades but I am getting old.

I spent five hours driving and four hours working today.
My back is stiff as I type this.

we have more cards coming in.
we have some btc gear coming in.

we have a lot of power available.

Should be fun when Eth goes or delays pos in June.

just went to the farm and played musical cards.

We have 13 cases 10 are 12 card and 3 are 8 card.

I filled my first 8 card completely today.

The 8 card can do the fattest card in 1 slot and 7 other card in the other 7 slots.

I have an asus strix it is monster big.

this has  5 evga 3090 ftw3 = not big but not skinny.
it has 1 gigabyte 3090 = not big the only 2 jack card.
it has 1 aorus gigabyte 3090 = big
it has 1 asus strix 3090         = monster big

It lists the order wrong the asus is on the far left if you are facing the fans.

that slot is a little bigger than the other slots.

When I am done I will have three  8 card cases with 3090's

and ten 12 card cases.

7415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Terrible Mining Mistakes on: March 27, 2022, 03:09:37 AM
Mining throughout the years I made tons and tons of mistakes.

1) Keeping wallet.dat files for altcoins on the mining rigs. Ran into so many client wallets which had a virus on them.

2) Using SATA to power the GPU risers.

3) Keeping a motherboard sitting on the cardboard motherboard box, mining for weeks like that.

4) Putting an Antminer outside in the dead of winter. You would think this wouldn’t be an issue however they will crash and when they do, they won’t start mining again until you bring them inside to let thaw out.

5) Keeping a bunch of loud miners in my bedroom and then years later have difficulty sleeping without any fan noise. Need to keep a house fan on inside my room to fall asleep now. If it’s too silent I can’t fall asleep.

6) Instead of using reliable HDD/SSD being cheap and using USB sticks which die a few months later and need to reflash from scratch.

7) Being cheap and instead of getting a proper Network switch I just used old routers and had like 4-5 routers connected in series. Worked fine but tons and tons of CAT5 cable everywhere hanging.

Cool First time using a air compressor to clean my fans. I set the compressor at the max PSI, and pointed at a fan to clean out the dust and it spun maybe at like 10000rpm and completely killed the fan bearing.

There are probably tons more. However these just come to memory.
What danger lies with keeping a motherboard on a mobo pack for days? I've been mining like this for some time now what's wrong with this? Anything I should watch out for?

It’s a fire hazard. The motherboard doesn’t really use much power but there are certain chipsets on the motherboard. Called south bridge and north bridge. They are normally cooled by a heatsink. If you put it on a cardboard box the bottom of that chip generates a lot of heat and might catch on fire. Since in a regular computer case there is a gap between the bottom of the motherboard and inner of computer case.

I never had any fire issues however if you touch with your hand in that area you will see there is tons of heat centered in that area. So it’s better to be safe than sorry. At least put a gap between the cardboard box and motherboard like putting 4 corners on something metal so there is some ventilation there.

also makes gear run hotter.

I use plywood. I cut a hole in the plywood under the cpu spot.

I use spacers to lift the mobo about ¾ inch or 20 mm.

Lastly I use a few cut up 2 by 4’s to lift the plywood.

if you do all of the above box fans work well to help cool the rigs a lot .

https://www.amazon.com/Zorveiio-Mounting-Plastic-Standoffs-Motherboard/dp/B09BCPYQYL/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?

above has 100 spacers a mobo uses like 10

so this will do 8 or 9 or 10 mobos. depends on the mobo.

to not mount on plywood with spacers and a hole in the plywood where the cpu is located is a bad build.

the plywood may not need feet as it could rest on a wire shelf.

but the spacers to lift the mobo and a hole 🕳 under the cpu is well worth it.
7416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What can 2500$ do in 2022 on: March 26, 2022, 09:52:32 PM
In Feb 2021 I built a mining rig with 6 MSI 1660 that costs me 2500$ with motherboard and a 850watt power supply my question is what can this 2500$ built this 2022?

you can buy 5 evga 2060 12 gb cards. 5 x 440 = 220

and get a mobo and a psu 5 x 30 = 150 mhs burns about 500 watts

or buy 3 rtx a2000 12 gb for 2400 and get a mobo and a psu about 3 x 39 = 117 mhs burns under 300 watts

this pipe could do

https://growershouse.com/y-duct-connectors?

s17 blows about 450 cfm

so 2 with  450 + 450 could exhale maybe 800 cfm

can a 12 inch duct directed at a turbine give decent power?

i think 4 s17 and 2 y vent stacked could run a turbine
7418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH mining nearing end of life - When will you liquidate your rigs? on: March 25, 2022, 06:41:08 PM
Why would I liquidate my farm when everything has been paid off just because ETH is rumored to be going Consensus layer this June/July? What makes you think if a big bug was found that they'll launch it in three months? lol

Yeah Like I said my gear is paid off. I could mine any coins I want for 18 months even if all the coins were worthless.

So Basically I simply mine and cash out. I hodl the cash and see what happens.
