7401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] The International 2019: Dota 2 World Championship on: August 20, 2019, 08:52:50 AM
Today the Main event will commence. What I observed on the bracket, especially on the upper bracket, the team there are almost the same with the upper bracket of The International 2018. Those teams that in the upper bracket in The International 2018 are teams that performed really well during group stage on this The International.
Probably, we can see a 2 timer The International champion? Hmmmm. Exciting.

It is too early. At this particular stage we still cannot tell whether or not there will be a history going to happen. So far, the possibilities are really vast and the contenders for the Aegis, other than those that have already been champions, are really great teams. It is safe to say that Teams such as Team Secret, Vici Gaming, PSG.LGD, or even TNC Predator could actually become the champion in this year's The International.

And, to be honest, I want another new team to become the champion this year, just like what happened in the previous TIs every year.

7403  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia - ONLINE ARTICLES related to hack & theft of funds 2019 (non discussion thread) on: August 20, 2019, 02:25:37 AM
Excuse me if i'm not posting a link, if it's the case delete my post and sorry, but with all these posts and adresses, not being english native speaker, i didn't get if there is an official email to write about a refund request as a simple user.
Thanks if you want to point this email adress out.

You have to mail to liquidation@cryptopia.co.nz if you want to write to them !
Thats the offical email now to contact cryptopia and the liquidators !

But this is not necessary, right? I haven't reached out to them. I mean, cryptopia is not asking all their clients to write them an email to recognize their claims, right? So far, after more than half a year since the hack happened, all I did was wait for them to issue an official statement with instructions to their users on how to receive the refund. So far, it has not arrived yet. Twitter is my only way to access to new updates regarding the liquidation.
7404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBM Find Only 2% Of Bitcoin Transactions Are Unlwaful on: August 20, 2019, 01:11:59 AM
<...> Which brings me to wonder what "unlawful" really means to them. <...>
It took me a while, but I managed to find their definition:
Quote
The Elliptic Data Set maps Bitcoin transactions to real entities belonging to licit categories (exchanges, wallet providers, miners, licit services, etc.) versus illicit ones (scams, malware, terrorist organizations, ransomware, Ponzi schemes, etc.). The task on the dataset is to classify the illicit and licit nodes in the graph.
Illicit is a bit broader that I would have thought beforehand, but there you go.

Each TX had up to 166 attributes of data, 94 direct and 72 derived. They have released the dataset if anyone wants to take a look at it, although there is no thorough explanation due to alleged intellectual property issues: https://www.kaggle.com/ellipticco/elliptic-data-set

Even so, there remains huge steps of hasty generalizations here which make their findings still inconclusive. If they immediately consider wallet providers, exchanges, tumblers, etc. as licit categories, they are committing non sequitur. It simply doesn't follow. A Bitcoin moving from one legit wallet exchange to another legit wallet exchange does not automatically mean the Bitcoin is not earned through a scam, or hacked, or plainly stolen. Moreover, I could send some BTC from my wallet categorized as licit to another still licit wallet but it is for buying illegal drugs.
7405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBM Find Only 2% Of Bitcoin Transactions Are Unlwaful on: August 19, 2019, 04:30:48 PM
I am actually happy that a reputable platform is coming out with figures and verifiable evidence about the real transactions carried out with the intention of breaking the law.

and what of IBM's reputation?

IBM collaborated with Nazi Germany during the 2nd World War, but they did not break any German law whilst doing so (many large companies, both German and American did so in fact)

Which brings me to wonder what "unlawful" really means to them. And regardless of what they mean by "unlawful", do we really care? At the end of the day, lawful can neither be equated to moral nor right. Lawful simply means you are abiding with the law, meaning you are treading on the legal path. But then, again, legal cannot be equated to good. The example given is clear.

I am more interested with "77 percent were left unclassified" more than the 21% legal or to the 2% unlawful. The unclassified percentage is too high, which makes the 21% and 2% findings inconclusive. It could also mean that Bitcoin transactions are a new wine to an old wineskin. The old laws are obsolete and cannot encompass to the new advancements in technology.
7406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here is why you shouldn't trade bitcoin based on the news on: August 19, 2019, 10:52:39 AM
Whatever CNBC said on various occasions, are speculation only and speculation can't be termed as NEWS per say! News have a different meaning and purpose! See below examples,

A country legalizes or bans bitcoin - is a news!

Bitcoin will soon reach 15k - is a speculation and an attempt to grab mass attention!

If someone is betting on such speculations, only God can help him!

Even "news" couldn't be readily trusted. Gone are the days when we had to buy them. Today, we cannot just simply equate news with facts or truth.

News are everywhere and many of them fake ones. Others are simply blown out of proportion.

"A country legalizes or bans bitcoin" in the news could actually just be a mere case of cryptocurrency exchange regulation.
7407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Lightning Network save bitcoin? on: August 18, 2019, 05:32:43 AM
Weather you like it or not, the Lightning Network is an interesting solution to the scalability problem Bitcoin is currently facing.

The word "save", as others have already pointed out, seems inappropriate as Bitcoin is not drowning or falling down. There is no saving needed. However, if we really want to see Bitcoin becoming a currency in the global market, Lightning Network is more than a good news. Scalability is one huge issue. Bitcoin simply cannot become the global currency without increasing its TPS into thousands. We have a long way to go in term of this. Fees is another concern that also pose as an obstacle in terms of usability. LN is addressing this as well, lowering high fees into the minimal, making it a practical payment alternative for our day to day expenses.

A couple of things to those who are planning to join this campaign.

1. There is 99% probability that you are gonna get scammed and not receive a single centavo for your effort.

2. Let's say a miracle happens and Yobit will pay you. My question, will your conscience allow you to promote and get paid by an exchange whose reputation could't get dirtier anymore? No other exchange platform is shadier than Yobit.

Think about it guys!
7414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] The International 2019: Dota 2 World Championship on: August 17, 2019, 08:56:29 AM
But I agree that Mineski seems to be the weakness of TNC. I think it's because that they used to know each others playstyle and Mineski knows how to counter the playstyle of TNC.
For me they are not definitely the weakness of TNC because we all knew that they're way stronger than that. Imagine, they can be able to beat OG but lose to their fellow countrymen; so funny to think, right Grin?. I also watched their game yesterday and as I read down the comments they said TNC intended to lose or in our term it was called "bigay" or "benta". Why they did such thing? No one knows but the most possible reason is to keep Mineski alive and got a higher chance for the Filipinos to win the championship (IMO).

People saying TNC gave that win to Mineski are either ignorants or just plainly casuals. Solid TNC and Mineski fans are always hostile to each other. Rumors is that even their team managements and players are trading trash talks when outside the camera and off the public. But still, there is no point in giving that game. It was just TNCs second game and Mineskis first, so no point that win keeps Mineski alive.
Really? there are fans who said that TNC gave that win to Mski? how it can be? no doubt that Mineski has been a good team and how many times did they went to TI? About the trashtalks, I don't think that they are too unprofessional for that unless it's just a friendly trashtalk.

Accept it guys that whether they win or lose, accept defeat and victory. This is The International and every team is doing their best to get on the upper bracket seed to secure higher prize pot for their places.

Some TNC fans just couldn't accept the fact that they are given a 2-0 match by Mineski. Well, I don't think every single TNC fan is against Mineski. I believe that most of TNC's fans are also fans of Mineski, and even Fnatic.  Grin Rumors of that game-selling are nothing but products of fans who couldn't make something rational from game results.

Anyway, so much for this rumor-mongering topic. TNC and Mineski are both great teams. Do I need to give you proof? First, the two teams were able to make it to TI9. Second, they are the only teams who were able to give Team Secret's unblemished record some nice scratch. And sadly, I lost some bucks out of those games.  Cry

Please specify your loan. Indicate whether the amount of the loan applied is in BTC or ETH. This is for proper recording.

I can't even believe that TNC is on top of group A standing, while on the Group B, the EG is really bleeding. What happened to the EG? Sleeping Dragon? I am still waiting for EG will be the top seeder on the Group B of the tournament.

And good news because most of the ASIAN teams are playing good, especially the TNC Predators and Mineski on Group A while Fnatic on Group B. I am rooting for them, especially on Mineski and TNC since in their group, high tier teams are their opponents. I'm so excited about the main stage games soon.

Mineski has already got past TNC in the group A standing, currently at the 3rd rank. TNC is already at the 4th rank. Team Secret is still the number one, the only team that remains to be undefeated until now. I still am confused with the way Mineski won and lost their games. It seems to me that their games adjust to their opponents, getting better against better teams and stooping down low when up against not so good ones.

EG is not the only team with much expectations that turned out to be a poor performer. Team Liquid is also performing rather bad. At least as far as the first couple of days of the tournament is concerned.  OG and Vici are gonna be battling against the top spot in group B.
7419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] The International 2019: Dota 2 World Championship on: August 16, 2019, 02:05:14 AM
Nice game between keen gaming and tnc lately. But when TNC matched with minesky, they cannot seem to catch the Game and lost. Anyways, I am still wanting to see TNC climb up the stage to win this ti9.
TNC use to lose against the Mineski, most of the time.

They can beat higher tier teams like PSG.LGD, NIP and other good teams. But with Mineski, they've always ended up losing against them.

Which made me puzzled. I really don't understand why TNC cannot beat Mineski. Mineski is really no match for TNC if you do all the technical analyses of their previous games. Mineski gaming is almost equivalent to garbage gaming and yet TNC always succumb to them. TNC can make glorious come-backs just what they did yesterday against Keen and yet they seem helpless against Mineski. Mineski is like their kryptonite.
