7421  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you see yourself quitting after this bullrun? on: May 15, 2021, 10:12:14 AM
This is not a new situation, people around the world have become rich by investing in cryptocurrencies, there was talk on the forum about some people who allegedly also resigned after making large profits from cryptocurrencies ( Former Employees From Major South Korean Firms Quit Their Jobs After Pocketing Millions in Crypto Profits ). Some people set goals for themselves, and when they reach that goal they simply turn a new page in life.

I think that giving up a day job still depends on what each person does, I would never leave a well paid and easy job just because I profited from crypto - unless I decide to start my own business, which is not something for which every man is capable. You need to weigh the risks well, because otherwise you can lose your job and lose everything you earned from crypto - there is a fine line between success and failure.
7422  Other / Archival / Re: [SOLVED] What is lastest Electrum version work with XP? on: May 15, 2021, 09:52:47 AM
Just a little observation about what I noticed on the sample of your screen - in the upper right corner is a document that is probably your seed, and one of the important lessons is that such sensitive information is not stored in digital form unless properly protected. Consider saving your backup in a safer way Wink
7423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto has become the rich man's playground... on: May 15, 2021, 09:44:05 AM
Really? Let's see what happens when the average Joe doesn't buy his cars anymore, doesn't support his actions anymore, starts boycott him and his products, let's see what happens then when the average Joe doesn't give a *.

I think things should be seen in a much broader context than that EM may have angered people who support Bitcoin, because honestly we are still a minority if we consider how many of us there are globally. The average Joe (especially in the US) doesn't care too much about not being able to buy a car with BTC, so he won't boycott EM because of his moves - and if you look at his Twitter profile the current figure is 54.7 million followers - and maybe a month ago there were only 52 million. EM is very firmly connected to government structures and no matter what and how it works, no one will remove it from the throne so soon.

As for the rich starting to take over the game, that’s a fact, and we can’t escape it - but they behave like most ordinary people who didn’t believe BTC could get this far until it exploded in late 2017. Even then, they didn't start to accumulate, because they had to wait for them to be legally allowed to do so - and the whole thing didn't really roll until Q4 2020 when MicroStrategy made its first big move.

The question for you who have been in crypto since 2013 and all those who have been there for years is why didn’t we invest more and leave them less if we could have guessed what would happen? There isn't much difference in the minds of us and them, they just have a lot more money to invest without risking their own existence.
7424  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I'm looking for a tool that shows what the price of btc was at a specific time. on: May 15, 2021, 09:20:58 AM
Without much thought I can say that the easiest way to get it is to visit CMC (coinmarketcap), select BTC and then click on "Historical data". Then select "Date Range" and set the dates for the time period you are interested in. So you will get 4 prices for each day in that period - "Open-High-Low-Close".

The only thing you need to know is that CMC takes the average price from all the crypto exchanges listed on that page - so it can very easily happen that you see data that differs elsewhere.

7425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: looking for founding partners on: May 14, 2021, 12:41:37 PM
Hi, I'm trying to come up a new application/concept for a new coin...Let's treat it seriously, and make it a great startup, and grow the business/fortune together, as a team. We'll die or live rich!

Looking for teammember/partner, to create a new altcoin. I'm looking for partners who can make a fortune together in this altcoin.

Another new coin to be created for what purpose? From what you wrote, the goal is actually to create fortune with the motto "We'll die or live rich!", which means that you and your future partners are only interested in profit.
7426  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin donated billions to India to fight Covid-19 crisis on: May 14, 2021, 12:19:45 PM
Oh please... For the first time, a shitcoin has been used for some good purpose. During the current bull rally, shitcoins such as Dogecoin have amassed crazy valuations, benefiting those who manipulated their prices. Now what is wrong here, if Vitalik uses the proceeding from one such shitcoin to help the people in need? You would have been OK, had he pocketed the profits and purchased half a dozen luxury yachts for himself? All these years people were creating shitcoins and making billions for themselves. And when someone uses a shitcoin for a good purpose, all the hell breaks loose. I don't really understand you guys.

It's not about that someone did a good deed - it's not debatable, but you can't say that creating shitcoin is justified to achieve some noble goal, no matter what people have been doing for 10 years - because no one explicitly forbids them to do so. I've already written that your government spends billions on space programs and weapons, while at the same time people are dying in the streets - it's sad that you have to be saved by shitcoins - and all those poor bastards who invested in it will at least be comforted that they didn't finance yachts and luxury cars.
7427  Economy / Economics / Re: I feel the report about UK economy losing 700 billion is wrong!!! on: May 14, 2021, 10:53:29 AM
The key reason for my analysis is that UK has vaccinated over 60% of it’s population, and this means that soon it’ll be business as usual for them, and hence their economy will be able to bounce back faster and stronger than what the economists had initially predicted.

News has surfaced these days of how Seychelles (the nation with the most vaccinated people with two doses) is facing a new wave of infection, of which as many as 37% have received two doses of the vaccine. It should be noted that this is a vaccine from a Chinese manufacturer (Sinopharm) and the rest from Covishield (Indian version of AstraZaneca). If it’s not just about the type of vaccine, then it’s possible for this to happen again anywhere in the world.

Seychelles, which has vaccinated a higher proportion of its population against COVID-19 than any other country, is facing a fresh surge of infections. The island nation has closed schools and cancelled sporting activities for two weeks as the number of active coronavirus cases has more than doubled since last week. Since last week, the number of active coronavirus cases has more than doubled to 2,486 people. Of these, 37 percent of the population have received both the vaccine doses, as per the report.
7428  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elon Musk loses $20B since SNL..would you believe? on: May 14, 2021, 10:26:42 AM
Rich people are rich because everything they do, they do according to plan and for a reason - so even though sometimes their moves seem illogical, in the end these $20 billion in losses can very easily turn into $50 billion in profits. I wouldn’t be at all surprised that EM is starting to realize how easy it is to make billions from crypto compared to producing and selling cars - and has therefore become much more aggressive in its tactics.

He is also a convicted and well-known manipulator who uses his position to steer the market in a certain direction, and from what I read yesterday and today, some people are already asking the SEC to react to his tweets and ban him from manipulating the crypto market.
7429  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin donated billions to India to fight Covid-19 crisis on: May 14, 2021, 09:48:14 AM
Sounds a bit unbelievable, but someone invented another in a series of unnecessary tokens, then inflated its price and donated it to someone who sold it and donated a fiat to charity Huh Although the end goal is more than noble, one should ask whether it is ethical to sell something that does not make too much sense to raise money to help others?

At a time when people are dying in front of their hospitals and have no oxygen to save them, the powerful Indian government is preparing to conquer space and increase spending in that sector. And more than obvious disregard for people and their health - but also a warning to all Indians to elect politicians whose people come first, and only then dust and rocks on the Moon or Mars.
7430  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Road to Hero! A challenge to self, and challenge to yours! on: May 14, 2021, 09:12:09 AM
Now I'm posting this as a challenge to myself that within two weeks I will be a hero member after years of working hard for this to come. I am currently 78 merits away and I challenge myself to fulfill it within the time frame. How? By posting some ideas soon that would help the community. I also aims to be more active after all inactivity due to being busy on both working and being a college student.

There is nothing wrong with challenging yourself, maybe it's just a question of whether you set the goal too high given that you have limited your time to achieve it. I'm not saying it's not possible to get 78 merits in 2 weeks, you only need 5-6 merits a day for that goal - and if you were to create some really useful content it's possible that you would achieve that goal even sooner.

I currently hold 51 sMerits and I really saved this for this moment to see other users grind to the top and willing to give it for each and every fruitful and notable post for the community.

As for that, if you want to help someone reach the next rank - it's a good idea to take a look at this -> Bitcointalk Ranking-up pipeline- Those close to their next rank (lacking Merits)
7431  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Freewallet or Atomic Wallet? on: May 14, 2021, 08:53:23 AM
If entering the phrase keys to another non-custodial wallet work, then why people send their coins between the wallets?

I'm not sure exactly in which direction your question is going, but I guess you think people should exchange seed or private keys instead of transactions or? This is of course possible, but do you want to give someone your seed, and he has to make a transaction again because you can’t both have access to the same seed for obvious reasons?

If you mean personal transactions (when you send to yourself), it definitely makes sense that instead of an on-chain transaction you just enter your seed in a new wallet - but then you have a situation where the seed is part of two different crypto wallets - and you can compromise the seed in process of entering in new wallet (malware - keylogger).
7432  Economy / Economics / Re: Could science fiction based carbon coins save our planet on: May 13, 2021, 03:28:26 PM
You don't seem to give up on the idea that every problem in the world should be solved by inventing a new coin/token - and it's obvious that a lot of people are thinking in that direction, considering that we have almost 10,000 coins (listed on CMC) of which 99.99% serve no purpose. The planet will not be saved by any cryptocurrency, the problem is much more complex and requires the cooperation of the whole world in making difficult decisions - but good luck with that, because politicians cannot agree on some much simpler things.

Perhaps a new cryptocurrency could be designed to fund innovative and new living space alternatives in the country. Which would decrease demand for living space and result in more affordable markets?

Cryptocurrencies being known for innvation and flexibility, could this issue be addressed by rolling out a new crypto token designed to fight global hunger?
7433  Economy / Services / Re: Free BTC transaction accelerator! on: May 13, 2021, 03:02:21 PM
Currently, if you pay 10 sat/byte you can expect confirmation of your transaction in the next 8-9 blocks or some 90 minutes if we assume that each block will be found in an average of 10 minutes. Although accelerating via ViaBTC does not guarantee confirmation in the next block, sometimes you may be lucky and still speed up your transaction. You can try it yourself at the following link, or post your link here (or PM) and I will try to add your transaction.

What is important is to check the fee, anything below 10 sat/byte cannot be accelerated in the free version.
7434  Other / Archival / Re: What is lastest Electrum version work with XP? on: May 13, 2021, 02:25:43 PM
People usually have problems with the W7 and Electrum, and I have to admit I can’t remember anyone asking for an opinion on the ancient XP. From what I read, the version that should theoretically work with XP is quite old, and as we know all versions below 3.3.4 should not be used due to vulnerabilities to phishing, and versions below 3.0.0 had some other vulnerabilities.

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend you go in that direction - but if you still want to try there is some useful information here - although I don't know if they are still relevant considering that the thread is from 2018.

7435  Economy / Economics / Re: CBDCs are not an "opportunity". They'll likely offer you less than you have now. on: May 13, 2021, 01:45:09 PM
I honestly don't understand why people are actually looking forward by this.  People seem to think you'll be trading them on exchanges like you do with cryptocurrencies.  I think this is a little naive.

I don't think most people really understand what central bank cryptocurrencies are, so they probably think they'll be able to trade and make a profit - or they're so thrilled with the idea that they won't have to pay with banknotes anymore and that everything will be in digital form. But I don't see where the difference is between, say, mobile banking and their apps that allow you to transfer money quickly and instantly, and the fact that you do the same with CBDC - except that the Euro will be called the digital Euro.

When they're cherry-picking which parts of our technology they're going to utilise, do you really think they're going to keep the parts that benefit you?  Of course they won't.  They'll take any parts that allow them to monitor, surveil, record and document every single move you make.  That's all they're interested in.  CBDCs will give those in authority absolute and total control.  To be perfectly blunt, you're an absolute fool if you would unquestioningly welcome that proposition.  Whatever opportunities you thought it was going to give you, think again.  If anything it will likely take away some of the few rights you still have remaining.

You can really control people through money, and with CBDC it will really be brought to perfection - every transaction will be recorded and what little privacy is left will disappear. But I think that the adjustment will take some time, the banknotes will not just go out of use - although their use in many EU countries is already severely limited for cash transactions to a maximum of 10 000 EUR or even much less in some EU member states.

As for whether someone will accept it or not, I think most people will remain completely indifferent to it - it is not a proposal that people will be asked about - when it comes to the EU, 70% of all decisions are made in EU parliament - nation states have only a protocol role in all this (with a few exceptions).
7436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 13, 2021, 01:15:53 PM
10,000 #Bitcoin just flowed out from Coinbase. We are one step closer yet again.

https://twitter.com/caprioleio/status/1392785852493963265

Speaking of accumulation, this is 2/3 of the 3 hours dump to 46K. It is easier to shake the weak hands than taking an icecream from a child these days  Grin

From Coinbase to Coinbase Custody probably, because we know where all the coins end up when the big players buy them. I would say that children are much smarter than most crypto traders today - children fight for their ice cream, these crypto sheep voluntarily go to slaughter every time the master calls.

7437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elom Musk is farting, the whole crypto suffocates! Is Elon working with SEC? on: May 13, 2021, 10:34:40 AM
So guys are you going to continue to dance with the SEC's joker? Or ignore his puppet dance?

I personally do not suffer from worshiping people like EM, he is just an ordinary manipulator who has the same goal as everyone like him - to earn as much money as possible, regardless of what needs to be done to reach that goal. I think he knows very well how much influence he has and that he can use it at any time. People have once again shown that they are ordinary sheep and that they are going in the direction they are being directed - you can read the rest of my comment here.
7438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 13, 2021, 10:12:03 AM
Sadly, this is the first time I am truly disappointed by Elon Musk.

I am disappointed with the fact that someone could ever be thrilled that EM got involved in the cryptocurrency story, because there was never a word about supporting technology, but only about making a profit. And the latest event just shows why people with so much power are bad for the crypto market - we'll probably read in a few months that EM bought a few tens of thousands more BTC in May, and before that it crashed the price with one tweet.

Maybe send him a link to your thread - although I don’t believe he really thinks what he wrote, and if he does think then he has much bigger health problems than the ones he recently publicly admitted. It would be best for him and his wife to board the first rocket for Mars, of course with a one-way ticket Wink
7439  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would it be foolish to take out a crypto loan at this stage of the bull market? on: May 13, 2021, 09:42:13 AM
    ~snip~
    • People will not stop and feel fear if they don't experience own loses

Everything you wrote makes sense, but we are here to just give advice - and I know from personal experience that it is best if a person listens to their conscience, because that way they will not be able to blame anyone else for a possible failure. What is perhaps most important is that people really learn best from their own mistakes, because once you get burned, you become cautious with every risky decision in life - although some will not learn a lesson after that, but that is another problem.

So i decided to take a 5000 dollar loan out at celsius wallet instead of 15000, it just works better for me 15000 was being a little too ambitious i think now in hindsight i am comfortable with 5000 instead.

Most advise that a loan is not a smart move, but I personally respect your decision because it is about your money, and because you are convinced that the investment will pay off - who does not take risks, can not profit.

i thought about going all in on ethereum to regain the full ethereum coin i had but sold earlier this year or spliting it up amongst the three, what do you guys think i should do thanks

You have a problem at the beginning, you took a loan and at the same time you don't have a plan to invest in - altcoins are currently something most people invest in, but I wouldn't advise anyone to invest in a certain coin - when things go downhill it will be bloody crypto bath, and many will drown in it.
7440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH not displaying post seed recovery electron cash on: May 12, 2021, 02:53:09 PM
getseriousaboutcrypto, if something hasn't changed since 2017, try the following derivation path for BCH in ElectronCash.

    Code:
    m/44'/145'/0'/

So you have to make a new wallet again, and in the part when you get the option to choose the derivation path, copy the one I listed. As I never take anyone else's credit, you can read more in this post from @HCP.
