7441  Other / Meta / Re: Is Merit Requirement Per Rank Excessive? on: April 13, 2019, 03:07:29 AM
The less easier it's to rank up the more the forum ranks status are appreciated. The less easier it's to build up an alt account to abuse signature and other forum system. For a start we don't need more legendary members, that rank should come with some respect and only deserving member should achieve that status that'll motivate Aspiring members to improve in their contribution to the forum if they want to be identify with that status. Personally I don't see any difference between the legendary rank & hero rank. If the system can produce lesser rank up users yearly then people will value the system. We have 365 days lets say deserving members recieve at least 1 merit daily a situation where we have more less rank-up users would be fun to watch especially in the top 3 ranks.

Also maybe your contribution to combating spam (via good reports) should be considered too before you're given a legendary status, lets put some respect on it.
7442  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit abuse on: April 13, 2019, 01:49:10 AM
Now this was what I was against when I stated clearly on your previous post, I knew it'll result to something of this nature, you going around picking useless reason to fight the system. The system that waa introduced to combat the spamming nature of the forum and from present stats so far it has work perfectly.
If a post isn't a spam, above average and it was written to the benefits of the forum members, it doesn't matter if it's a question or answer it's worth some merit and the amount totally depends on the sender. Just an advice "again" this thing you're developing your account into won't help in anyway and it'll just be a waste of time.

PS: Deserving questions are going unrewarded so when one gets merited that shouldn't be an issue
7443  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: {Facts} Benefits of promoting (joining) a quality paid signature campaign. on: April 12, 2019, 08:14:51 PM
Actually, many will stand against me on this; Satoshi aim and purpose for the forum was not meant to be use for paid signature campaign but Bitcoiners has turn it to be a venue for "get quick rich"(in bold).

Point of correction, Paid signature is never a get rich quick scheme as it can never make you rich in the first place. Sure it can give you some pocket money but relaying on it as a source to become rich is far worst than thinking bitcoincash is the "Real" bitcoin. Satoshi never intended the forum to be used for altcoin either that's why he called it bitcointalk not cryptocurrencytalk but again here we are. The forum have evolve and the admin is doing a great job adjusting the forum to fit recent developments in the industry and 21st century socal media features which involves leveraging platforms for some side income.

There's nothing wrong in participating in a signature campaign as far you do it right that's why I try my best to educate forum users on doing it the right way for the right reason. Signature is one of the major contributor to spamming and doing it right can also help in the fight against spam.
7444  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you want to help the forum? on: April 12, 2019, 02:31:49 PM
It's a great idea considering those old posts were shitposts mostly worthless i.e they didn't add any value as of posting although for the average post which aren't "technically spams" I don't advice you delete those. If a meriter comes across such posts in future it might earn you some merit (personally I have merited such posts) or help a user in need.

OP I understand your point of view that it benefits the forum and reduces the workload of moderators if you delete your worthless old posts yourself instead of letting it get reported for deletion. As humans we can't always produce quality and sometimes the topics you read will result to you leaving worthless reply and it's kinda a good practice to clean yourself when you have the chance to.

Although when it comes to topics deletion that isn't possible. There are few topics I started as a newbie that i would had love to delete too but instead I just edited and it's still in my posts history.
7445  Other / Meta / Re: How a select few users of the forum finessed you all (NSFW) on: April 12, 2019, 08:42:13 AM
If you had spent some time to read the post then you'd realize that I don't care for receiving merits, I want that system gone.

I did read the whole post and i found it interesting at the same time captivating that's why I give you that suggestion because most people that make such post are mainly people who're either not benefitting from the system as it was intended and most times aren't recieving any merit but wish they did as a result they come over to meta asking theymos to stop the system. The system isn't perfect and stopping it isn't the perfect solutions either. But I just wanted you to know we have those willing to merit quality (constructive) posts when they see one it's just left for the members to put in some work like you just did.
7446  Other / Meta / Re: Thoughts on people that use this forum as income source? on: April 12, 2019, 08:09:02 AM
I'm a Nigerian, I don't hide that and I do earn from this forum but that's as part-time and not my main source of income. I joined forum in 2017 and didn't receive a penny until early this year when I ranked up to Full member and starting receiving ~$18 weekly and as of recent I receive around ~$50 weekly and if bitcoin price was to remain within it's current price range for months that means I'll be receiving ~$200 monthly when the average level one worker received ~$82 monthly by law in Nigeria. I don't see anything wrong with leveraging the forum for some side income but depending on it totally which leads to abusing the forum for selfish interest is what I'm against.

What OP said is true the site is popular for the wrong reason (quick money site) and people depend totally on it as their only source of income. I have received numerous invitations to speak at money making seminars listing BTCT as one of those site but decline them all. The recent I did attend as it was a blockchain related event I spoke against such practice, as encouraging Nigerian to see forum as a way to earn money instead of a place to hangout with like-minds, learn, seek blockchain related support and share information. is the main cause of numerous scam and spamming been linked to Nigerians on forum.
7447  Other / Meta / Re: How a select few users of the forum finessed you all (NSFW) on: April 12, 2019, 07:34:37 AM
Here's an advice buddy, if you took half of the time you spent into thinking and writing this post into making other meaningful and quality post to the forum, it'll earn you some merit. We have numerous merit sources over 100+ and meriters too (those that have smerits) so if you delivery quality posts it won't go unnoticed.
7448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What motivated you to get into Bitcoin and Blockchain in general? on: April 12, 2019, 05:11:22 AM
Nonetheless, what was your real motivation to get into Bitcoin and Blockchain in general? Smiley

At first i thought it was the desire to escape the rat race called poverty by investing in a technology that defer all odds that its success will give me riches but as I grow stronger into the industry I realized my motivation was not really about the money but the zeal to be part of history. To be among the few that had the courage to support a technology as great as bitcoin in return caving a name for myself in my geographical location and hopefully my continent. Looking at bitcoin it looks to legit to fail so i  see no reason why anyone won't be motivated to join the community.
7449  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The greatest analysis of Bitcoin! EVER on: April 12, 2019, 04:57:43 AM
It's never a smart move to relay on other people's research  for developing trading strategy but you can you use them as pointer to carryout more research or my favorite, carryout your own research. The cryptocurrency market is still very volatile and new for  any other strategy which doesn't involve hodling to produce positive outcome always that includes trading. That been said, nice, quality post OP, it was quite interesting to read.+1 from me.
7450  Other / Meta / Re: Solutions to send merits to good posts in Ignore Boards if don't unignore it on: April 11, 2019, 10:19:01 PM
I don't get is why some members put a whole board into ignore!
There are many boards that I never visited since I joined the forum (mainly local boards) and didn't have to ignore them. Am I missing something here!

For me since I'm accessing this forum from my mobile, it makes navigating the forum much easier. There was a time when I never visited the alternative subsection so I had all the section on ignore but now I have selected few boards especially hoard I don't find interesting on ignore.

About been able to merit posts in your ignore board, I think it'll go against the the main reason of such a feature as ignoring a board in the first place. If you find a post worth meriting you can just unignore the board for the main time and when you're done meriting you put back the board on ignore it's quite simple.
7451  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do not use PAXFUL it is a Scammer site. on: April 11, 2019, 09:52:06 AM
As for Paxful, they have been allover the news lately because of the ongoing scandals. Avoid them at all costs
https://cointelegraph.com/news/nigeria-financial-watchdog-receives-petition-against-crypto-exchange-over-account-closures.

I updated that information few weeks ago in my hangout thread and did some investigations, asking questions from affected users on Twitter because it was trending as of then. what I found out was that the main reason behind the suspension of account was based on forcing their customers into verifying their identity through KYC due to the high rate of reported scam coming from the Nigeria community.

News are spreading that PaxfulNG is suspending accounts belonging to Nigeria therefore if you are using their services you're advise to transfer your coins to a more secure wallet especially if you're not ok with KYCs.

Link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5122338

Most of those that did the KYC and didn't violate their terms and conditions got their suspension remove although the manner in which paxful handled the issue by suspending users account without notice is the cause of the whole misunderstanding. But still, it's not safe to use the exchange.
7452  Other / Meta / Re: Red trust bullies on: April 11, 2019, 03:19:56 AM
How far are those decentralized forum you speak off doing? Bitcoin is decentralized not Bitcointalk so your assumptions are wrong. it'll result to an unlivable environment if the forum was to be controlled by the scammers and cheaters all asking for power through decentralization. A little centralization isn't that bad and that's the only way a forum as big as Bitcointalk can be operated. The new DT system have given power to the people to vote in or out DT members so what else do you want? You complain of centralization yet you use centralized exchange at least Bitcointalk isn't asking for your KYC everyone is free to be anonymous here if you choose to and discuss or trade peer2peer somethings involving escrow, isn't that what satoshi wanted? You just have to do things right here and you'll be fine. Avoid scam like activities, avoid defaulting any forum rules and abusing them. Do this things and you'll enjoy your stay here. Remember this guys are mostly volunteers & they're giving their best so if you find a flaws in the system, do well to alert them & always appeal your case if you know you're innocent of the accuse crime.
7453  Other / Meta / Re: My account was hacked! Pay attention please. on: April 10, 2019, 05:29:53 PM
7. Tomoit know where the "Reputation" Board and what is the purpose of that board.

Actually he posted the topic on the meta board and it was reported to be moved to reputation board. Again Tomoit was smart knowing posting on meta (although it's the wrong board for such issue) will draw more attention to the post as it just did. If only Shafiqul Islam was a decent/quality poster then this issue would had been one to keep tab on but he isn't and removing his tag won't do the forum any good either.
7454  Economy / Reputation / Re: 2 Merit For Small And Off topic, Brand New First post. on: April 10, 2019, 04:36:32 PM
Lol Bro, Your mind is Ridiculous, You said we are same person. If we are same person, why I will post here. If we are same person. I tried to keep  safe myself. I do not want to harm myself. Everyone wants to protect themselves. You too.....

To me this qouted post from Tomoit suggest that Tomoit was just trying to frame Shafiqul Islam irrespective of whether they're the same individuals or not after this attempt failed he then PM knowing that act won't be overlooked or he did both act simultaneously and selected reputed users with DT privileges to send the PM to knowing their feedbacks would have more effect on the account.
My issue now is the said "Shafiqul Islam" is not helping the forum in regards to contributing positively through decent posts and unless he's willing to clean up his account and get a new start I don't this case is worth looking into.
7455  Other / Meta / Re: My account was hacked! Pay attention please. on: April 10, 2019, 02:33:40 PM
Well Shafiqul Islam, looking through your post history it's clear you haven't be contributing positively but instead spamming the forum with just bounty reports almost on weekly basis. I can't say if you were hacked or not (although it looks like a hack as no human in his/her right sense will abuse merit & beg merit simultaneously putting their account at risk of been red tagged). but considering the usefulness of your account to the forum I don't anyone who be interested in your case. Even if you get untagged, you can easily be tagged for spamming (yes people tag for that too). Just to render your account useless so you stop spamming the forum.
7456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [FIN] MatchBillion.com Signature Campaign | Full Members + | ETH + MBL Payouts on: April 10, 2019, 12:20:12 PM
Didnt post in the Gambling section till now, but this will definitly change. Would love to work with you!

Although this current campaign have ended but for future posses, I think you have to read this [Guide] Factors to consider before joining paid signature campaigns. especially NO5. Don't jump right into joining a campaign that wants posts in a board you aren't familiar with, it usually leads to participates posting off topic replies and most cases leads to spamming the board.

Just came to drop my appreciation as I knew campaign will be ending today. Thank you Hhampuz and thank you MatchBillion.com for giving me an opportunity to earn some ETH during my stay in campaign. This was my very first ETH paid signature campaign and I enjoyed my stay although it was cut short due to reasons best known to me.
Thank you & GoodLuck to your project.
7457  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Blockchain technology for a fair distribution of energy on: April 10, 2019, 11:33:32 AM
Yes i do believe and we already have success stories like PowerLedger located in Australia. Why I think the system is going to work is because with the help of blockchain technology, more turst & transpiracy will be introduced into the system which weren't there before due to the use of 3rd party companies like the distribution operators. But since there won't be any need of a 3rd party system, the energy can now be distributed (traded) peer2peer between individuals, making the system more dencentralized and even more cost efficient as a result leading to a fair distributions of energy.
7458  Economy / Reputation / Re: 2 Merit For Small And Off topic, Brand New First post. on: April 10, 2019, 06:46:24 AM
Wait let me get this straight, you registered on forum today, you already know who LoyceV is and how hard he works for the forum. Already know what the merit system is and that you're likely to be investigate if post received merit on is, off topic or worthless. The meriters "Shafiqul Islam" is not known for visiting the meta baords for she (based on your description of user but can't find gender on profile) to have seen your post and merited it neither is she known to be active in meriting post since she hasn't merited or receive merit from anyone in the last 120 days.

So you expect us to believe the crab you're saying?. This act is now becoming a trend, just like the ICO bounty manager flooding here claiming they have no idea of merits they're recieving when we can all see it's a clear merit abuse.
7459  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hhampuz Reputation Thread on: April 10, 2019, 05:04:21 AM
Having been a constant participants of your campaigns and having qualified for anyone i apply to join and looking at other users been accepted too I can say you're doing well when it comes to accepting quality non shitposters in all your campaigns. As a result I notice your campaigns don't always have open slots that's great news as it says a lot about the campaign manager accepting only quality rule abiding users.

Your payment are always on time in all your managed campaigns (haven't seen any complains of deserving members not receiving their earned payouts) and from my timezone that's the first thing I see every morning on payments days Grin and having recieved the following benefits from joining your campaigns and I haven't seen any accusations of you abusing your power as a CM nor abusing your DT privileges, I can boldly say you're doing a great job Hhampuz. +1
7460  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Saving your private key in your email is a lethal move on: April 10, 2019, 03:59:43 AM
Ignorance & lack of information is a major contributor to this, Here are some of the possible reason why newbies think storing of private on email is the best solution;
  • They could easily remember where they stored their private key
  • It can be easily access from any device as far they're connected to the internet
  • They have been earlier misinformed that storing sensible information on their email is safe

Again the type of wallet they use play a major role in them storing their private key carelessly. A user making use of an online (web) or APP wallet is likable to store their private key in their email than a user making use of a hardware wallet. So again they need to be informed on the best wallet to use to prevent issues like this (them storing private key in emails) from occuring.
