7441  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: June 14, 2021, 02:49:55 PM
A few days ago, Tropic Square confirmed that their chip is expected to be available somewhere in 2022 and there doesn't seem to be any major problems which could delay the release. Still, I would not expect a new Trezor hardware wallet before 2023.
Great news and they commented that goal for them is to release it in 2022 and that Secure Element will be available for everybody and not just for hardware wallets.
As Ledger collected bunch of money in their latest fundraising it would be interesting to see if they join this race of developing their own open source alternative, or they will continue to waste more time and money on supporting altcoins.
Hardware wallet wars are just getting started  Cool

7443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Colored Coin implementation is best for a CO2 certificate token? on: June 14, 2021, 10:38:17 AM
All world is gone mad with this carbon bs propaganda, and we actually need to have CO2 to live, plants need it to grow, and we are all made from carbon, but we sure don't need to have any CO2 certificate tokens on Bitcoin blockchain.
I don't think colored coins ever gained any popularity on Bitcoin and even some forked projects failed to get any traction with them (read Roger Ver).
7444  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] SatoshiBox [OpenSource] - Sell Digital files - Looking For Developers on: June 14, 2021, 10:28:33 AM
Interesting project but it needs to have more information on website, especially about privacy, fees, etc, and I would like to know where exactly are uploaded files stored?
Using some decentralized storage solution would probably be best to avoid single point of failure and server issues, and I would also suggest to add option to list items in BTC or sats and not only in USD.
7445  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Source Application - dkbit98 <-- theymos on: June 14, 2021, 10:21:09 AM
Mr. Theymos, I am still available for Merit Source place, and one of our Croatian local board member and merit source is also not very active anymore so I think the we need one more merit source even more than before and it does not have to be me.

For more information check out this post and latest stats for our local board by DdmrDdmr via Rikafip:

7446  Other / Meta / Re: Is The Purpose of The Merit System Defeated? on: June 14, 2021, 10:09:09 AM
I propose that;
The newbies should be restricted to posting only in Beginners and Help Board.
This is so bad to propose something like things because if there is one place for newbies to write freely that is Beginners and Help section, especially coming from someone who registered in Bitcointalk forum on 28 May 2021  Roll Eyes

Every newbie should remain in this status for a period of 90days. After the expiration of 90days, the forum moderators shall examine the performance of every newbie, then immediately award a certain number of merits(Let's say 10, 20, 50 etc) according to the performance of the newbie in this 90days orientation period. Also place the user in any rank other than newbie according to the performance aswell.
You must be crazy if you think moderators have enough time to investigate all posts from newbies, and btw you are also a newbie who is trying to write some suggestion bs posts just to earn some merit.
So fake and lame... one more goes on Ignore list.
7447  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [LIST] Open Source Hardware Wallets on: June 14, 2021, 09:39:25 AM
HyperMate hardware wallets manufacturer is claiming they are Open Source and you can check that on their Github page but I can't confirm that because I didn't test their wallets myself and it is lacking documentation.
They have two interesting devices offering hardware-level MultiSig support and they claim they are resistant against attacks on program execution, and physical attacks on chips (heated, frozen, filtered...) so it would be good to see someone testing out this claims.
Problem I have with this hardware wallet is that I must use their HyperPay app and can't connect device with other wallets like Electrum, and I can't choose to create my own PIN because it is random generated.

7448  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: June 14, 2021, 09:19:05 AM
List is updated with two new hardware wallets HyperMate G and HyperMate Pro, both of them are using the same Infineon secure element with EAL 6+ certification but exact model is not stated on their website.
HyperMate is company from China but Infineon is German semiconductor manufacturer and their secure elements are also used in other hardware wallets like Jubiterwallet, Keevo, Secux and Hashwallet.
HyperMate is using Infineon chip in combination with Nordic BLE Chip, and interesting thing is that OLED screen of their hardware devices is directly connected with Secure Element to avoid middleman attacks.

7451  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Transfer from binance.us to binance.com on: June 13, 2021, 05:12:07 PM
Why would you use both accounts on Binance when everything can be tracked and connected back to you, it doesn't really matter if you are useing vpn or not.
Regulators in United States know all addresses in Binance and you are connecting those addresses with your kyc documentations you sent them during registration in Binance.us.
Binance exchange is also working with tracking analytic companies like CypherTrace so they can track transactions much better than regular people, and  trying to avoid taxes like this won't give you good results.

7453  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Gains by Country (from Chainanalysis) on: June 12, 2021, 03:50:20 PM
This statistics is only for reported gains and they are probably much higher if we include unreported gains from coins lost in terrible boating accidents.

Governments will not ban Bitcoin. They want tax from crypto investment or trading and they will not receive tax if they use their ban hammer. The trend would be mainstream adoption, not ban.
We can expect to see some countries tried to ban Bitcoin at least partially like we saw in case of China or Iran and I would not be surprised to see more countries doing something similar in future.

China is not a biggest economy and not the most friendliest nation with cryptocurrency so logically China should not have biggest gains in crypto.
Newsflash, Chinese economy is currently biggest in the world and interesting thing is that while all other countries suffered a lot during circus corona, China reported big growth of their economy, so think about that.

The gap between the USA and China can be bigger or smaller but it only reflects the fact that the USA is leading the crypto market in this bull run.
I don't think that any specific country is leading the bull run but United States are for sure leading in terms of inflation and debt that can indirectly affect Bitcoin price as purchasing power of dollar is rapidly going down.

Yeah I know that topic very well but we don't need any of his time and effort, we just need (his) forums Bitcoins this time  Cheesy
7455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miami, the capital of the world of digital currencies? on: June 12, 2021, 03:12:04 PM
Florida and city of Miami are really leading the way of normal life not just in America but in all world, supporting Bitcoin and freedom with less stupid restrictions and regulations.
Other states and cities around the world should follow their example because we don't need more stupid politicians who are blindly following orders from their masters.
If El Salvador can have Bitcoin as legal tender so can other countries, as I don't see any other way to fight inflation than owning some Bitcoin with Gold and Silver, and lot of people may soon end up with worthless papers in their hands if they don't think on time.
7456  Other / Meta / Re: RECOMMENDATION FOR GENERATING FUNDS on: June 12, 2021, 02:40:15 PM
That's not the forum's mission Wink
Well it could be, place a few servers there and you are safer from rising cyber attack from evil hackers, and it would be cool to have a new libertarian country called Bitcoin(talk).
I think that Theymos would like the idea, I would apply for citizenship and we need you for all statistic processing. Smiley
7457  Other / Meta / Re: RECOMMENDATION FOR GENERATING FUNDS on: June 12, 2021, 02:27:43 PM
Registration fee: the forum should be rearranged in the other at which every nee member can pay some dues as gate fee that can grant them registration access to the forum.
Terrible idea that would probably kill bitcointalk forum and create some weird closed community of freaks that remind me on some cults.
Forum should be a free place to share ideas and talk about bitcoin, not extortion business collecting money like tax, and there are more than enough coins collected so far from donations and marketing.

Finding fee: every member that is caught violating the forum rule should be made to pay find before they can be allowed to participate again in the forum
This is not a prison or place where they cut your hand of you sinned so you have to pay for your mistakes, and nobody would pay anything.
Temporary or permanent ban is good enough, and even than we saw some mistakes like in case with Regulus from Croatian local forum.

Market capitalisation and bounty pools should be deposited here till any company round up their bounty campaign. At the end their money will be sent to them and the forum shall be compensated.
There are already trusted managers who are holding funds for bounties but there are always risk nobody can cover.

At the rate Bitcoin is growing, this could very well be enough to fund the forum forever.
Why don't we instead just buy a small island or country in South America or other part in the world, and create independent libertarian state with our own citizenship? Smiley
I hear that some countries are offering their citizenship with investment from 0.2 to 3 Bitcoins and that is a good deal in my opinion.
7458  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mining with renewable energy on: June 12, 2021, 02:12:21 PM
Nordic countries like Iceland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway have most of their energy coming from renewable sources, and other European countries like France have many nuclear plants if you consider that a green energy.
South American countries like Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Uruguay have very high percent of renewable energy and almost 100% of electricity produced in Uruguay are coming from renewables.
However situation with this renewables is not so black and white as you may think, and production of solar panels and lithium batteries is creating big pollution and destruction of natural water sources.
7459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taproot lock in in about 20-22 hours on: June 12, 2021, 11:53:33 AM
Which block height mined by him? I don't want bother check 28 non-signaling block.
I didn't researched more deeply but I know he works with one Chinese mining pool owner and I think it's Viabtc, oh btw check out hashrate and mining pool distribution for his bch coin  Cheesy
Big blocks = centralization.

PS
3 more signaling blocks required for Taproot softfork to lock in.
We live in some interesting times right now.
7460  Other / Meta / Re: Can moderators be asked to close threads of banned accounts? on: June 12, 2021, 09:13:21 AM
I would not like moderators deleting everything from banned accounts for various reasons, maybe they could lock their topics but lot of work is needed to do this manually and there is no real benefit.
I am also thinking what would happen with inactive accounts like Lauda, Satoshi and others who are banned because they wanted to be banned.
