7441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin changed the men but not the women on: January 30, 2019, 11:26:36 AM

It's undeniable men changed proportional to bitcoin, women didn't change for it.
whenever I give men bitcoin they will hold it
Whenever I give it to women they will sell it for $$$
Just deal with it women love money > bitcoin

~ snip ~

I could accept some independent women are successful, but when I look at the top crypto hodler list, I could barely get any women in the list, something that make me cannot convinced they are fine with being in the list.

As I have said in other thread, it has something to do with how men and women are design.. Men is obviously, testosterone ridden, so we love challenges and risk. And we all know that investing in crypto is a big risk so men tend to lean on that way. However, women are "risk averse".

Quote
Risk averse is the description of an investor who, when faced with two investments with a similar expected return, prefers the one with the lower risk.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/riskaverse.asp

So maybe that's one reason why we don't see women in the top crypto hodler's list.
7442  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] BITHD watch – A Wearable Cold Wallet for Cryptocurrencies on: January 30, 2019, 11:19:11 AM
Isn't this initiative rather dangerous. I mean, walking around woth your cold wallet on you. That's like telling a whole bunch of people you meet wherever you go that hey look, I have cash on me and I've got it all on my hand. Anyways even if someone can't use it after stealing, it is still dangerous walking around telling people you have money.

I guess it will go under the disguise of just a simply watch, unless you tell others that you have a cold wallet in you. But nevertheless, I won't be comfortable as well, I'm not a frequent traveler but I guess this is what the company is targeting as a potential customer. I guess more questions will be raise once their product roll out in April, so let's see how it pans out.
7443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: January 30, 2019, 10:22:32 AM
Ok here's another interesting story about the PPV and gate numbers on Pacquiao vs Broner:

Pacquiao-Broner Produces $6 Million Gate, 11,410 Tickets Sold
I have read a somewhat similar article with the PPV but without the tickets sold part and the people coming in. I think when Mayweather gets this statistics, he would really think about coming out of retirement. It’s another easy money for him. I guess the name of Manny Pacquiao are still on rage and still going with a lot of people trying to tie it with Mayweather.

Exactly, Manny Pacquiao still has a drawing power no matter what people has to say. And we can even mentioned that boxers wanted to fight him to get their highest boxing pay check. It will be another easy money for Floyd, but at the back of his mind and some people around him, that Pacquiao still possess a threat so the risk-reward is questionable. Again, a lot of potential and good fighters out there for Pacquiao, if Floyd doesn't want to dance again, then look for other options.
7444  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-29]Samsung Pay could include crypto currency wallet on Galaxy S10 on: January 30, 2019, 10:11:14 AM
Samsung Electronics appears to be expanding its mobile payment strategy to include blockchain technology as it reportedly is planning launch a crypto currency wallet system on the 10th anniversary phones of Galaxy S, according to industry sources Tuesday.

Some leaks of alleged images of Galaxy S10 phones showed that the new gadgets offer Samsung Blockchain Keystore that is a crypto currency wallet application.

Why would such a big company like Samsung focus on such a small market like the crypto enthusiasts market?
The costs ot implementation/risk/profit ratio isn't good. What crypto are they going to implement?BTC,ETH,ripple? Are they going to create samsungcoin? Grin

As a business, everyone want's to take and look at the potential market in which they can exploit. Remember that Samsung was not a mobile company in the beginning, and yet they enter the competition with Apple because they know that's there's a huge market for it. And now they're the leading company in the mobile market business. Similar to what Samsung is doing today, crypto enthusiast is slowly gaining grounds so probably in the next 5-10 years Samsung wanted to be the leader as well, integrating crypto wallets in their device, I reckon.
7445  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The future of cryptocurrency exchanges on: January 30, 2019, 09:41:15 AM
Many new exchanges are present and provide better services but the market response is weak, trading volume is still small.
I hope that the more exchanges, the greater the number of transactions and the greater the velocity of money.

Obviously, we are in a bear market, that's why the response is very weak so there's no surprises in that line.

At the same time, new exchanges keep popping out from nowhere, and it doesn’t make any sense. The competition is getting too much and only the big old exchanges are taking the lead, new exchanges can’t even compete and majority of them ends up along the way. I think these new exchanges will just continue to die off, cause no one is showing interest in them, not when there are exchanges like Binance and everyone is scrambling for an opportunity to sign up for it. The bigger exchanges will continue to take the lead. All these new ones are going no where.

I speculate that lots of people keeps developing exchanges to make money as a business, or to blatantly scam traders and investors. No wonder we haven't seen something new to challenges those trusted exchanges like Binance as of the moment, because traders prefer exchanges that has a reputation already. And for those new exchanges, they need to come up with a good marketing strategy to even break into the top 10.

Ok here's another interesting story about the PPV and gate numbers on Pacquiao vs Broner:

Pacquiao-Broner Produces $6 Million Gate, 11,410 Tickets Sold

Quote
Manny Pacquiao still boasts the ability to outperform most of the best welterweights in the ring and outdraw most other boxers at the box office.

It still remains to be seen if he can recapture past glory in or out of the ring.

Pacquiao’s January 19th 12-round landslide win over former four-division titlist Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas produced a live gate of just over $6 million from 11,410 tickets sold according to data provided to BoxingScene.com from the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday.

https://www.boxingscene.com/pacquiao-broner-produces-6-million-gate-11410-tickets-sold--135791

So there's no argument that Manny is one boxer who still commands fans to watch his fight either live or thru PPV. And this numbers, may not look good with Floyd's team and I'm sure they will look at it as poor or lackluster and they could reason out that fans might not be interested to see them fight again. Bad excuse for Floyd though. Anyways, I have said, Manny has a lot of options, Thurman won a fight last Sunday and I'm very interested to see him and Manny face each other.
7447  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-29]Samsung Pay could include crypto currency wallet on Galaxy S10 on: January 29, 2019, 01:26:04 PM
I'm still skeptics by this news and it was also reported since early December that this news is fake.

Quote
“Unfortunately we are unable to provide any information as the below is rumour and speculation.”

https://cointelegraph.com/news/samsung-dismisses-galaxy-s10-crypto-wallet-reports-as-rumor-and-speculation

We don't know the people or the intention behind leaking and spreading this rumour. Crypto community as well is divided, are you wiling to take the risk of buying expensive phones because just of crypto wallet support and high rate of exposure to hackers because the phone for sure will be always hook online or would you rather buy more secure wallet like Trezor or Nano S?
7448  Economy / Speculation / Re: A long decay on: January 29, 2019, 01:13:21 PM
it doesn't matter if this is the longest bearish trend we have ever seen. What matter is that Bitcoin is still here and if history has something to tell us, this bear market will eventually end and a new cycle begins. Don't be bothered or annoyed by those statistics, you just have to look into the future and make a good plan.
No one could disagree that bitcoin is gaining popularity day by day and the adoption rate is good compared to what we had some 2 years back. By considering these, we cannot expect this bearish trend to persist for long. Prices may get double within the wink of our eyes. New cycle may start at any time. Unfortunately, the downfall in last year happened just followed what we had in 2014 but I believe that must be a coincident and we may not have all the things to be repeated. I always believe into exponential growth of bitcoin prices and it happened like $1200 in 2013 and $19,400 in 2017.

Don't be bothered or annoyed by those statistics, you just have to look into the future and make a good plan.
Yes, history may repeat but it does not need to be an exact one. Bitcoin rises and falls because people do trade it. But, in long run it keep rising alone and we must look for making use of this alone. This must be a good time to accumulate as much as bitcoins we are able to buy and hold with a plan of long term holding.

Agree, if there's something we have to learned from the past bearish market is that its the best time to accumulate as many as you can, let is sit in your wallet for a long time and wait till the bulls take over the market again and then delay your decisions to sell until such period when it reaches its peak or close to the top and book your profits. This has been the proven formula of early bagholders, and its very effective method.
7449  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Master Warlords - a Bitcoin Skill Based War Game on: January 29, 2019, 12:57:45 PM
~ snip ~

Maybe I am missing something here, but if there is no luck then why would people compete? If someone has a better army than you, why would you even fight them?

I'm also confused here. I mean how can you  or upgrade your army? You need to buy more game credits (bitcoin) then? So everything is based on skills or if you have more credits then you can upgrade and defeat different players. There might be the issues of colluding as well, I think you also need to factor that in.
7450  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin continues to decline? on: January 29, 2019, 12:48:16 PM
Do you think bitcoin will continue to fall to prices below $ 3000? I saw the market conidisi kept red, without green. At the beginning of 2019, there seems to be no sign of a change in a better direction. What do you think about this? Please give opinions that are simple but easy to understand. Thank you!

It's pretty obvious that no one in this community has the 'crystal ball' to see what the future holds. You also have to understand that the market works on cycles: bearish and bullish. So currently, we're in the bearish trend which means that their is a big chance that the price will fall or continue to fall. Of course, we don't like what we're seeing, however, we can take the opportunity to buy more bitcoins and wait till the market goes on a bullish run again.
7451  Economy / Economics / Re: Spending bitcoins on a car. Car depreciate while Bitcoin appreciates. on: January 29, 2019, 12:38:25 PM
U go to buy a car with bitcoins but to find out ur car depreciate in 3 years. While holding onto bitcoins the value of ur bitcoins appreciate. Just a speculation. Taking risk at an extreme. Trading ur bitcoins for a car. Hah . But Bitcoin doesn't always sky rocket in value every 3 years. Or does it.

I think it's a bad comparison, maybe other's can consider buying a car a form of investment on his/her side, so it doesn't make sense to look back if ever the price skyrocketed in the next 3 years or so.

As for the pizza guy, he already stated the he doesn't regret buying pizza with 10,000 BTC.

Quote
Cointelegraph: You probably get asked this question a lot, but I have to ask. Since 10,000 Bitcoin is worth around 80 million dollars today, do you ever regret paying 10,000 BTC for two pizzas?

LH: You know, I don't regret it. I think that it's great that I got to be part of the early history of Bitcoin in that way, and people know about the pizza and it's an interesting story because everybody can kind of relate to that and be [like] - "Oh my God, you spent all of that money!" I was also kind of giving people tech support on the forums and I ported Bitcoin to MacOS, and you know, some other things - fix bugs and whatnot, and I've always kind of just wanted people to use Bitcoin and buying the pizza was one way to do that. I didn't think it would get as popular as it has, but it's gotten to be a really catchy story for people.

7452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 29, 2019, 11:49:57 AM
What a game. I mean it was not very exciting to watch, but nole just showed everyone how it's done. Let's see if he can match Nadal's 17 GC this year!

I first mentioned this last year that Djokovic could be the player to surpass Nadal and Federer in Grand Slam titles won and right now my prediction is looking very good. If Nadal doesn't win the French Open this year then yes I believe Djokovic can match Nadal's 17 GS titles this year as if Djokovic can stay fit and healthy then he will be hard to beat at Wimbledon and the US Open. He may even win the French Open with the form he is in right now.

Exactly, we have been agreeing that Djokovic is that man that can match or even surpassed Federer in Grand Slam titles, and him winning the Australian Open is a step closer. Maybe this year he can tie Rafa's titles and then chase after Roger's in the next couple of years.

@Kemarit and I have been saying this for a while now about Djokovic as his form in the back end of last season looked like the Djokovic of old. He now becomes the outright Australia Open winner on 7 titles and also surpasses Pete Sampras on the all time GS winners. We are all very lucky to see the top 3 players all of time play at the same time and I'm not sure if we'll see this again.

We should not forget what happened to him last year. It was tough for him, physically and mentality. However, Djokovic overcame everything and we have may witnessed out of the greatest comeback in Tennis as well. We wouldn't have thought that we can overcome everything and win titles at the end of 2018 and continue to be dominant? A lot has been discounting him already, but he rise to the occasion  and even surpasses everyone's expectation.

Keep it coming guys, it looks like this thread really did come alive as of late, and lot of tennis fans who are really knowledgeable and very well-informed.
7453  Economy / Speculation / Re: A long decay on: January 25, 2019, 10:52:47 PM
My careful prediction is that the reversal of the trend will happen at the same time as ETF listing. Even though it goes against Crypto principles, this will definitely have positive influence on the price.

Sad to say though that Van/Eck Solid X just withdraw their proposal couple of days ago. (https://www.coindesk.com/cboe-withdraws-proposal-for-vaneck-solidx-bitcoin-etf)

Friends, how long the market will roll down the slope, will we see growth before next year?
Already now in the new year only a week remained until February 2. Why February 2nd? If any growth does not resume until February 2, it will be the longest period of decline in the history of Bitcoin.

Are you sure about that? You need to check around the 2013-2015 crypto winter. But it doesn't matter if this is the longest bearish trend we have ever seen. What matter is that Bitcoin is still here and if history has something to tell us, this bear market will eventually end and a new cycle begins. Don't be bothered or annoyed by those statistics, you just have to look into the future and make a good plan.
7454  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Amazon accept crypto if Bitcoin skyrocket again? on: January 25, 2019, 10:24:02 PM
There are a lot of small shops which accept crypto payments around the world. However, in my opinion, what will really push the cryptocurrencies forward is the adoption of Bitcoin by some big player in the trading industry, such as Amazon.

It could be, but there are a lot of factors to consider before any services (big and small) starts to accept crypto as payment.

What do you think, will Amazon start to accept Bitcoin as a payment method if its price rises to new-record values again (like in 2017)? Could it be that they are not adopting it because they treat crypto as a hostile technology for their business? Or they just don't take Bitcoin seriously, like thinking it will despair in the near future?

As a business, you need to ask what incentives does your company will have to accept crypto? What risk, specially how volatile this market is. If the risk outweigh the benefits then its logical for businesses not to accept crypto at this moment. There are a lot of rumors before, even news about Paypal accepting crypto surfaces, but nothing concrete has come out.
7455  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is KYC necessary for crypto-to-crypto exchanges? on: January 25, 2019, 10:05:48 PM
While personal documents and your identity are not protected by any guarantees and laws KYC can't be demanded on the exchange in small quantities .Another case when it comes to significant amounts. On many exchanges market  chang up to $1000 is simplified without KYC and its rightly!

There is one law which is the EU GDRP (General Data Protection Regulation). You can read everything here: (https://gdpr-info.eu/). This law came into effect May of 2018. Some important changes is that individuals specially those in the crypto sphere has the "right to be forgotten", meaning the right to request the deletion of personal data.
7456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 25, 2019, 03:30:11 PM
Everyone brace yourself for the Australian Open 2019 finals between Nadal and Djokovic.

~ snip ~

~ snip ~

~ snip ~
5 hours long match! Well it's nice to see. I can't remember when was the last time I have seen a long match. I am interested to see a list of long matches in the tennis history.
I remember watching one of the longest last year with Isner (thought it was Baustia Augt for a minute) which was in a tiebreak and was 16 match points to win it in the fifth set or something like this.
But #5 was none other then Novak Djokovic and Rafal Nadal in 2012 Australian open which took 5 hours and 53 minutes.
https://www.sportskeeda.com/tennis/longest-tennis-grand-slam-matches-off-all-time-history
"Both the players were so tired after the final during the post-match presentation that they were given chairs to sit on. The Spaniard Nadal was up a break in the final set but Djokovic clawed his way back to level the score at 4-4. He broke Nadal in the 5-5 and then served out the match to win the final set 7-5.

Result: Novak Djokovic def. Rafael Nadal 5–7, 6–4, 6–2, 6–7(5–7), 7–5 "

The Isner vs Anderson semis is one of the longest semis last year (Wimbledon), close to 7 hours. The 3rd set alone took almost 4 hours to be settled if I'm not mistaken. And this is the biggest reason why tournaments have change their rules specially on tie break sets so that this kind of marathon match could be avoided and give players time to rest for the next game.
7457  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-25] Venezuela’s New Interim President is Anti-Petro and Pro-Bitcoin on: January 25, 2019, 03:18:51 PM
Well it's a welcoming news if indeed the new Interim President is Pro-Bitcoin. But I guess its not that important though, he really needs a lot of help to contained the worsening crisis in his country. Will Venezuelan's continue to invest on Bitcoin? We don't know. At least Venezuelan's have something to cheer about because they have been clamoring for changes for quite some time now so let's see how everything turns out for them. One thing is for sure, Bitcoin has proven that it can be an hedge, like what we have seen in this case.
7458  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Provably fair trading? It is real? on: January 25, 2019, 03:09:42 PM
I mean if its binary option its either you win or not, all-or-nothing right? So it's gambling per se, but I don't know if provably fair though is the right term here, maybe just verification since everyone can check it on etherscan as you have said. There are no server/client seed or nonce to calculate the result, correct me if I'm wrong.
7459  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Price Defends $3.5K After Cboe Pulls ETF Proposal on: January 25, 2019, 02:46:59 PM
I think everyone should differentiate withdrawal from rejection. When we say withdrawal, it means the CBoE will just re-apply if everything settles down in the side of US government. A eventual rejection will dose all hopes and that might have a negative effect on the price.

Or possibly that people are no longer interested on the news per se. I'm sure that majority will agree that its very tiring waiting for positive news about the whole ETF drama for the last couple of years.

Right now the withdrawal doesn't mean anything for investors though, that's why their no significant dent on the price, imho.

Definitely they can reapply again in the future, but I would assume that it will be the rest results just like the rest of previous Bitcoin EFT proposal, - a rejection.
7460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How good were you at understanding Bitcoin tech before investing in it? on: January 25, 2019, 02:35:59 PM
I don't think you need to understand the technical features of btc to invest in it or buy it. Most of the time people just need to have a basic understanding about how the whole thing works. Although, nowadays, most people only see bitcoin as a store of value, or a digital asset that can give you a ROI in the long run. People no longer care about the tech behind a crypto, it's all about making money.

Right, when Bitcoin price started from $.01 to $1, people started to realized that they can make a lot of money and didn't learn the technology behind. That's why you will see a lot of newbies commenting on countries embracing Blockchain Technology that it will bring or affect the market price positively. But they didn't know that adopting this technology doesn't always equate to price moving up.

In my case, I didn't understand the tech behind bitcoin back in the day, all I knew was that it was a decentralized cryptocurrency where you can send money while remaining anonymous, that alone caught my attention to put money in it, as time went by, I started reading a bit more about the tech, then I stopped doing that since I don't need to know every technical aspect of bitcoin in order for me to use it or HODL it.

I guess everyone started this way as well, but if you're that interested at least in my case I try to understand the technology behind but reading fin tech articles and of course the whitepaper.
