7501  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling Signature Design Template on: November 27, 2014, 10:18:13 PM
Why don't you take part in the ongoing contests? There are at least 2 available now.

Because people who know nothing about signatures are easily swayed into thinking a shitty signature is a good one. roslin's are a good example of that.

Know nothing about signatures? What the hell does that mean? If anyone here believes their signatures are good when they're infact shitty it's you. Pretty much all of your signatures are very basic and just throw as many colours into the mix and look a complete eyesore. You quite clearly cannot handle not winning these design contests.
7502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be Satoshi back in 2002 on: November 27, 2014, 08:31:39 PM

This person had a few major spelling errors not found in Lenstra's published papers, so maybe it's Lenstra making bad spelling errors since he is Dutch. His papers would be edited heavily. So you need to find examples of him with no editors.

Here's one of his papers, well done and probably heavily edited.

There's a big difference between writing a forum post and an academic paper.

Looking at the hypothesis from the opposite direction, what comments has Hendrik Lenstra ever made about Bitcoin?

If he was satoshi surely he wouldn't say anything or at least try to distance himself from it?

Simply put: you can get a max of 14 points every two week period. Next one starts on second of December.
7504  Other / New forum software / Re: Ranks (similar to donator) on: November 27, 2014, 04:36:31 PM
It sounds great on the one hand. But on the other hand Bitcointalk isn't responsible for our trades and we can actually do anything what we want here. The problem is, that these ranks gives trust to Newbies and they think that they can send their bitcoins blind to these guys.

That's naive newbies fault then and for some people they learn the hard way. I agree that having a bond sounds good theoretically but it also opens itself up to various problems, and like you said it's not this forum's job. Luckily no escrow seems to have scammed yet (or not since I've been here), but it's probably only a matter of time before one of these newer ones does.

The first improvement would be the abolishment of the sale of accounts!

Wouldn't make a difference. Banning the sale of accounts wont stop or even barely make a dent in the number of sales. In fact, it would probably have the oppsite effect and there would be more scams as many more people will be oblivious to the fact that accounts can and are in fact sold.

cmon stunna. you know how to promote stuff.
Yes, he does know how to promote stuff, which is why he knows he doesn't need to do this type of promotion. PD is by far the preeminent dice site at the moment, he has no real competition, why do you think the sig campaign ended?

Then why is it coming back soon? McDonald's & Coca Cola are the biggest of their respective industries but spend billions between them on advertising.
7506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you call a bunch of people that are fascinated by cryptocurrencies? on: November 27, 2014, 02:03:05 PM
If they are fascinated, then could be Crypto Fascist.

You're doing it wrong  Cheesy. Crypto-fascist also means something else.
7507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be Satoshi back in 2002 on: November 27, 2014, 01:48:36 PM
I doubt satoshi came out of the womb anonymous and wanting to protect his privacy 100% from an early age. This post was made over five years before bitcoin was released and the 'satoshi' who only had the basis for the idea back then could or would probably be a lot more naive and a lot less security conscious than the older one who would've obviously been far wiser by the time he realised his idea into a fully workable product.
7508  Other / Meta / Re: I have banned forever? on: November 27, 2014, 01:37:15 PM
I think he probably replies to these ban threads more often than not, but it's only really him that will consider unbanning someone, but it's pretty much common knowledge that BadBear is responsible for handling the bans and all requests related to it anyway.

And it probably is for low quality posts under a signature, but that doesn't answer his question of if the ban is permenant (which it usually isn't unless prior warnings have been given) and likely only BadBear can answer that unless theymos does but even he may not know the full details behind a specific case.
7509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be Satoshi back in 2002 on: November 27, 2014, 01:22:01 PM
I would somewhat doubt it. I don't think that satoshi would have talked about his idea prior to his whitepaper.

It's easy to say that in retrospect but a whitepaper wouldn't have even entered his mind at the time as his idea seems to be something he was only in the genesis of (if you could even call it that) and thus isn't going to be that concerned about privacy when he hadn't even got a fully working idea, so this seems to be just thinking out loud more than anything serious.

I highly doubt this. He took care about his privacy and things, this would be a mistake.

He took care of his privacy after he had something that was workable and ready to be released years later. And what's the mistake? Everybody is still none the wiser to who he is.
7510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be Satoshi back in 2002 on: November 27, 2014, 11:40:29 AM
Probably just a good pipedream someone had a while back and is likely just circumstantial / coincidental to bitcoin, but I suppose it's possible he later developed the ideas, but without a detailed explanation of the technology behind it I'm sure many people have proposed the idea of a digital peer-to-peer currency before, but it does have the hallmarks of bitcoin. Maybe it took him all this time to come up with a workable solution? Who knows. Interesting anyway.
7511  Other / Meta / Re: I have banned forever? on: November 27, 2014, 11:27:19 AM
Appealing via the email provided is probably a waste of time so I'd just wait for a response from BadBear, but using an alt account to post anywhere outside of Meta will likely be considered ban evasion.
7512  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can i buy bitcoin without my wallet done sync? on: November 27, 2014, 10:49:46 AM
Don't download programs from people advertised on here then, especially if they're from newbs. You can download the clients from their respective websites.
7513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can i buy bitcoin without my wallet done sync? on: November 27, 2014, 10:35:44 AM
Yes, your money will be there when your wallet fully syncs, though I'd suggest getting a lite client so you don't have to download the entire blockchain. You can transfer the wallet.dat over and recieve or send your coins straight away.

Can you give me your suggested lite wallet? Cheesy

Thanks!

Check out one of the ones mentioned above. Electrum or Multibit for a desktop wallet or blockchain.info for a web wallet (but remember to set up all the security features ie - 2-factor and second password etc).

7515  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for owner of ilovebitcoin.com on: November 27, 2014, 06:43:35 AM
If this guy requests a payment, will anyone be willing to produce funds for this cause?

That probably depends on how much he wants for it. I'm sure someone will be interested if he does want to sell it.
7516  Economy / Services / Re: Silver Wallets Signature Campaign on: November 27, 2014, 06:39:30 AM
It's not open to new members. In fact, the terms are coming to an end shortly for existing participants. The op and thread title should probably be changed to closed seeing as its not quite clear.

7518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you call a bunch of people that are fascinated by cryptocurrencies? on: November 27, 2014, 06:25:56 AM
Nobody said cryptofreaks? I like cryptoplebs for newcomers/alt-coiners/people who haven't got involved yet  Cheesy.

Satoshis

That one would be a little confusing.

Cryptocunts

Haha. I like that one. More of an insult though.
7519  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: November 27, 2014, 06:16:42 AM
You do only need to post once. It takes up to an hour to update so have you waited for that?

That's not true.  I have another new account and for a few months I have posted just once every 2 weeks and I only received 1 activity point instead of the 14 points everyone is saying you should receive.

So you have to post 14 posts to get the maximum 14 activity points.

Nope. He doesn't seeing as he has far more posts than activity so he only needs the one post. You will need to make the rest of the posts up to get the full activity though.
7520  Other / Meta / Re: Is it possible? on: November 27, 2014, 06:12:24 AM
Of course. You could've just tried it   Cheesy. Oh, and if you're asking if it's allowed, the answer is also yes.
