7501  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC broke all major support lines, and the worse is yet to come. on: December 28, 2018, 12:53:35 AM

i closed every single long position for now. should have closed right at the resistance especially with that shooting star forming on the 4H, but i got greedy and closed at 4% less profit, but still with overall about 20% profit from the falling wedge which is not bad.

why did i close my long positions ?

1-we are approaching the 4500$ strong resistance (bitfinex)
2- BTC has formed a kind of a rising wedge which if we break, we will dip to possibly 3750$
3- Bearish divergence and exhausted bulls starting to show on the trend.

what am i going to do next?

1- short the market if we break the wedge " SL will be a close above the breaking candle.

TP will be 3940, 3770   or manual close should any bullish signal appear on the chart.

2- il long the market if we the 4h candle break above the red resistance and close above, it will be safe to buy with SL being a candle close below the resistance which will then act as a support.

TP will be 4800, 5400 or a manual close if things go south.

*tho i doubt scenario 2 is going to happen, but if it does, we gotta take some very nice profit because the run will be quick.

3770 TP reached, nice little profit.

going long now, 3600-3700 is a good support, potential H&S formation

SL : 3650

TP 1 :3970
TP 2 :4250

7502  Other / Serious discussion / How Will quantum computing affect BTC security and mining. on: December 27, 2018, 11:49:08 PM

I have been reading about quantum computing and it's ability of putting the whole blockchain at "risk" , some "paid" articles seem to address quantum computer as the end of BTC and blockchain technology in general.

The ugly part is that they only address these "potential" security threats to bitcoin and not to cryptography and encryption in general.

so after reading a variety of articles and papers of where some would say that QC is the end of bitcoin while some other's think of QC more like a unicorn.

 i found this research paper

https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1711/1711.04235.pdf

which seems to me by far the most accurate yet the simplest of which i have read.

if you are interested in knowing about the potential risks to bitcoin i suggest you spend sometime reading the paper, you sure as hell will learn something new.

7503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My mining farm on: December 27, 2018, 10:52:04 PM
ventilation is important but depending on the size of the hot room, if big enough, then simply opening the door will be enough.

Ambient temperature is the most important thing, I mean, if a room is close to a 40c, do not add more miners to it, split to other rooms which the ambient temperature is lower than 40c. You should never let the room be more than 40c, most good psus are rated 50c but you should never let any with more than 40c.

Mining is still dead at moment but I think soon as eth fork is coming in july and that will be huge, eth might reach 1k again soon, regardless of it, I would buy eth and not mine it, not worth, in your case looks like you are dealing with asics which is a totally different thing but like i said before watch for the psus.

the question was referring to the exhaust/hot room, nothing is placed there except exhaust fan, so regadless how hot it is, as long as the heat goes out before it goes back through the wall then it does not matter if it's 40c or even 70c as long as it does not melt the fans and the bearings.
7504  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Is £2,500 too low for a market maker transaction? on: December 27, 2018, 12:24:46 AM
Technically speaking if we are ever going to see 3200$ then you should place your buy order at 2900$-3000$, as the nature of the market waves.
if we do not break and close above, 4500$ then the odds are we making a lower low which would be anywhere from 2900$-3000$.

so it is either you buy now or place your order at 3000$ to be safe.

also it would be a much better idea of diving your entries starting from now , then reload at every low.

Good luck.
7505  Other / Serious discussion / Re: How do you make money of bitcointalk? on: December 27, 2018, 12:12:32 AM
There are only 2 ways that I am aware of.

1- Renting your signature an avatar once you rank up.

it's not much of an income, and requires some work, but still better than nothing if you are willing to make the effort.

2-Trading goods and services

you can find a lot of good deals on the marketplace, i personally traded a lot of digital goods on the forum. if you have the skills you can always find some great deals on the market place, but indeed you need some capital to start with and to be aware of scams.
7506  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bottomed out ? TA analysis. on: December 26, 2018, 11:48:40 PM
Very good analysis and more grace to you airborne. Technically I believe that bitcoin has bottom out and follow the analysis that you have made I think we should not expect bitcoin will not go below $3000. That means now should be the best time for us to invest into the market.

we can still dip more tho, but if it' for long term plan, then indeed it's a good time IMO
7507  Economy / Speculation / Re: ichimoku cloud says 3100$ is the cheapest bitcoin will ever be on: December 26, 2018, 10:56:12 PM

I agree with what you are saying but with the addition that if for example TA works 80% of the times in other markets like stocks market then it means TA only works 50% in bitcoin market because of the size of the market and the severity of the manipulation that exists here.
here I chose 80 and 50 numbers arbitrarily but the point is that effectiveness of TA is reduced in bitcoin market to a point where most of the times it raises the question of why bother with it.

if TA does not work, then could please kindly tell us what does ? what do you place your entries and exists on?
7508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: "Cannot find Signature"... What's this? on: December 26, 2018, 10:32:38 PM

1) While I am editing, can I close and open the PuTTY without danger while I have not saved the changes? (:wq)

2) Assuming the worst case, if a mistake is made, is it possible to reverse it? reinstall the firmware, set it factory default, and start over?

1- yes if you use the  "x" bottom on top ,the setting won't be saved.

2- in theory the worst case scnerio is that you'll need to reset the miner. but still shit can happen.

since you are not going to do any coding , you shouldn't make any mistake, before you save just revise the code 2-3 times, compare it to the prev code you pasted here, make sure you have not deleted anything.
7509  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Remote Identification of S9 hardware version (S9/S9i/S9J) on: December 26, 2018, 10:28:06 PM
on my S9i it shows

Miner Type   Antminer S9i

on the overview page.

so if it says j then it's j, if S9 only then it's an S9.

then when you download the firmware, there is a different asicboost for each type on bitmain webiste.

the first asicboot which bitmain released was only meant for the S9, if you put it on S9i or S9j it will still work but will not make any difference.
7510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My mining farm on: December 26, 2018, 10:04:59 PM
Wow i like that  Grin
What's the temperature inside room and where are you from?

i would like to keep the where i am from " secret" Grin

as for the temps , if you mean the hot side , god knows , i never really bothered about measuring it.

for the "cold" side it ranges from 15 to 25 in winter and fall, and from 25 to about 32 in the summer and spring. i use an AC in the summer because the temps out side get way to high.

* all numbers are in degrees Celsius
So its fully divided? (I mean the wall)

This is my first time seeing this set-up and im wondering if on the other side do have ventilation or just opening up the door for releasing of heat?
About the noise i think it doesnt have difference.

fully divided yes.

ventilation is important but depending on the size of the hot room, if big enough, then simply opening the door will be enough.

the noise part ,  it makes a HUGE difference, once both doors are closed and you are sitting outside the noise is much less than in open space, they teach us this in 2nd grade! when you isolate the noise, it gets reduced.

if you want more details check the original post.
7511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: "Cannot find Signature"... What's this? on: December 26, 2018, 09:58:52 PM
you need to alter the code make it look like this

Code:

# if [ ! -f runme.sh.sig ]; then
      #  echo "Cannot Find Signature!!!" >> /tmp/upgrade_result
#else
 #  openssl dgst -sha256 -verify /etc/bitmain-pub.pem -signature  runme.sh.sig  runme.sh >/dev/null  2>&1
# res=$?
# if [ $res -eq 1 ]; then
 #   echo "Installer Not Signtured!!!" >> /tmp/upgrade_result
 #else
#    if [ -f runme.sh ]; then
#   sh runme.sh
 # else
# echo "Incorrect firmware!!!!" >> /tmp/upgrade_result
# fi
 # fi
#fi

if [ -f runme.sh ]; then
   sh runme.sh
else
       echo "Incorrect firmware!!!!" >> /tmp/upgrade_result
fi

you have to add # to disable the first lines, and remove the # to active the last lines.

add # to the first 15 lines, and remove # from the next 5 lines.
---------------------
to be able to edit, you need to click letter " i" on keyboard.

when you done editing

type

Code:
:wq

then re-open the file to verify the editing worked by typing this

Code:
vi upgrade.cgi

if the edition is good save and exist by typing the following

Code:
:q

once done , restart the miner . and try to upload the firmware.

* do not restart the miner
*do this at your own risk.

please make sure you don't make any mistake in the code, you don't have to TYPE or DELETE anything, just use # to disable lines, and delete # to enable lines.

your codes should like the one in the image i sent in my last post.

EDITED : thanks to yonydouna and effud for correcting the restart part.

7513  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should I remove my red tag on bountyhunters.io? DT please discuss on: December 26, 2018, 09:23:25 PM
This more like the "red and green" we talked about in my topic. asking for a private key is an act of scam be it used to scam or not should be the least of our concern. also i would love to see more of these threads where DT members seek the opinions of others.
7514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: "Cannot find Signature"... What's this? on: December 26, 2018, 07:41:07 PM

no you went too far down,

search around line line no 40.

refer to the image i gave you from the Russian  website  >

you need to find these lines that he put blue rectangular, you need to find those 2 part of codes and delete them. they are usually around line no 40, but could be different , you just  need to scroll until you find them.

7516  Other / Meta / Re: Can we regulate the trust system ? on: December 26, 2018, 04:03:36 PM
Isn't it obvious DT won't always agree? There are clear red and clear green cases, but in between there's going to be differences of opinion at some level.

okay you have just summarized the whole issue in a very nice short statement which i couldn't do due to the lack of writing skills Grin.

i do not think anybody will debate over the "clear" red and green cases. but what's up with the gray ?

if you tag someone for being a scammer, not a single DT member will counter it and say " no allow this guy to scam others". it's  pretty obvious !

but what happens when a DT member goes out of his way and tag someone for saying "lemon"? what if no other DT member give a counter tag to the lemon tag?

who can accuse the lemon hater DT member of "abusing" the trust system when there is not a single rule that says "you can't tag someone for using the word lemon?

the tagged person will have his profile painted in red, he won't be able to make any deals with any sort of flexibility, he will be kicked out of any signature campaign even if he gets a counter rating "since most camp mangers clearly say that if you have a negative rating from a DT member you won't get paid".

who will protect say "me" from you giving me a random negative trust because i use this smiley  Grin way too often ?

for all i know no are not breaking any rules for doing so !.

7517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: "Cannot find Signature"... What's this? on: December 26, 2018, 03:47:53 PM

ok you donig good so far, but the code is incomplete, you need to scroll down use the "down arrow" on the keyboard there will be more code.

you see this
Code:
"- upgrade.cgi 1/219 0%"

it means you are now at Line no 1 out if 219 lines. you need to click the down arrow a few times until you find  a part like this

Code:
f [ -f runme.sh ]; then
7518  Other / Meta / Re: Can we regulate the trust system ? on: December 26, 2018, 03:30:15 PM
I think this is too limited. If you have to wait for a DT-member to be scammed before a scammer can be tagged, many innocent Newbies will be scammed too, while doing a small deal to work on a long con doesn't mean someone can be trusted either.
As an example, look at the red trust I left. Before I was on DT, it was mainly for users who cheated my giveaways, or (the first one) a non-paying faucet). After I was put on DT (around March this year), I've tagged a couple dozen users, and none of them scammed me. Since scams aren't moderated, DT is the only protection this forum has.

Maybe i failed to give a proper explanation. the point here is not that a DT member himself has to be scammed, the accusation it self has to be based on a scam action. so if a newbie gets scammed by xyz  and you tag that xyz member for scamming, it is a very valid tag. this goes for all trading related matters, call it scam/cheat/ponzi/rip-off it does not matter. as long as it's not " this guy is stupid/troll , so i gave him a negative trust because i can".

Quote
If you don't like the trust system, set your own trust list. I still haven't done it, because I prefer to see users as most people see them. But feel free to start promoting custom trust lists, if enough people agree, DT will become less powerful.

i discused this with suchmoon but i will explain it again,  the trust custom lists is only good for my own use, it does not reflect how other members view my profile. since you are a DT member then you are on everybody's list by default, if you were to tag me now, even if i would exclude you from my list, everyone else by default will see your tag on my profile.
so the trust custom list does not serve any propose on this matter.
--------------------------------------------------

even if we are never going to have any rules, i hope that the reasonable DT members will stand against those irrational tags when they see them. like that DT member who stood up for cryptohunter when he was given a red tag for being a "troll" and gave cryptohunter a positive one because he thought that being a troll does not qualify you for a negative trust of which i am sure that 99% of members would agree to that . i am by no means defending the "way" that cryptohunter went about the "gang" and all the exaggerations ,but it was sad to see only a few DTs disagreed to that and actually only 1 took an action while a few others supported that irrational feedback.

7519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / My mining farm on: December 26, 2018, 03:00:18 PM
i posted about my small farm in  bitcoin mining board and then realised that the majority of my ASICs are actually alts miners, therefore i did not want to move the topic from there as some people might find it useful there too, so i decided to repost on the ALTs too.

The front

The back

if you want more details on how i built it you can read the full story here > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5087770.0

but in general with this isolation design i got 2 major improvements over the classical.

1- Miners now run much cooler.
2- Noise is reduced to a good level.

so if you are facing any of these above issues , you might consider this type of set up.

if you have any questions, refer to my original post, if the answer is not there, feel free to ask and hopefully i will be able to assist you.

happy mining  Grin

I would merit a long quoted poorly formatted post as apposed of a short answer with  no content or quality.

in fact this reply > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5046547.msg46684103#msg46684103

has the best answer IMO , as not so many people know that google has this function where you can search for this exact verse "1 btc to eur" and you get something like this

if i really wanted to merit anybody in the thread it would be him, regardless of his poor quotation skills.

since we do not pay these people to write, and it's not school then what matters the most is the piece of information inside the post.

Their English skills shouldn't matter neither their writing style or use of quotes.

if you visit the mining board you see many people with bad English, poor writing style and terrible use of quotations yet perfect solutions to major problems.

while I would encourage everybody to learn to type a better "looking" overall posts ,I am totally against this way of judging quality posts.
