7561  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); Overt AsicBoost; World First Mining Pool on: September 17, 2021, 07:59:39 AM
I love a good kick to the hornet's nest as much as the next guy, so here goes a good shot.

If Slush Pool isn't the first pool, then show me where to point my miner to mine on the first pool...  If the "first" pool failed, is it the first pool?  If I say I'm going to be the first person to swim around the world, and then I die while being the first to swim around the world, am I the first to do it?  I was swimming around the world the same way the "first" pool was mining...  I believe in this context, Slush Pool is stating they are the first, because they are the first mining pool to survive the test of time.  Other pools may have attempted to be first, but they since failed and were shut down...

Perhaps they should state they are the first successful pool or the longest running pool?  Seems like this is taking cheap shots at slush's legacy to come and make this argument more than 10 years after this claim has been accepted by the community.
7562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: September 17, 2021, 07:38:23 AM
There's a lot of rumors that Irving is really a big problem with the Nets management. Early this year, he broke a safety protocol implemented by the NBA, and then Kyrie become estrange with his team mates and his coach. And it seems that Kyrie is not a communicator, or at least not opening up with the management and his team itself.
It seems that Irving has a terrible temper if these rumors are true. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the Brooklyn Nets still have problems with mutual understanding on the court during next season, considering that Irving is more worried about his stats per game rather than team results.

I've never really thought of him as a guy with a temper.  I think he's just extremely childish and vindictive.  In his mind he thinks he's the one that built the Nets by talking KD into joining him there and he doesn't want to be left out of the run for the Finals.  Do I think he'd really retire if traded?  No.  Maybe sit out a year and make someone call his bluff, but there's too much money on the table for him to walk away.  I don't think he's obsessed with his stats either.  That's more of a James Harden thing.  On the floor, Kyrie is great.  It's what he does outside of the lines that is a major distraction to his organization.
7563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Arizona has legalized fantasy sports betting! on: September 17, 2021, 07:35:27 AM
Hi OgNasty, can you give an example of popular fantasy sports betting?

The only fantasy sports betting I've ever done has been betting on games during the NBA season using DraftKings.com.  Basically, you receive a certain amount of points to build a team.  You spend those points on different players and they earn point depending on how good they play (what stats they rack up).  Then at the end of the day your final score is compared to everyone else who built a fantasy team that day, and if you are in the top x% of teams, you receive a cash prize.  It's extremely competitive, but a lot of fun and you get to know all the players pretty well.  It also gives you something to cheer for during a game you probably would have otherwise not paid any attention to.
7564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Arizona has legalized fantasy sports betting! on: September 16, 2021, 06:52:12 AM
I’m just now finding out that last week Arizona changed their stance on sites like DraftKings for online sports betting. It seems like states are legalizing things that bring them revenue at a pretty good clip. I’m particularly happy about this one though, as I’ve had money stuck on my DraftKings account for a long time now. I might have to get into fantasy sports.
7565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What happened with Dogecoin faucets? on: September 16, 2021, 03:51:32 AM
I remember the day when Dogecoin faucets like FreeDoge.co.in and MoonDogeco.in offered free coins for anyone starting into crypto. Before the Dogecoin craze, I've used to claim free coins every once in a while. But it seems those days are over as the aforementioned faucets have closed up shop. I've been looking for other DOGE faucets, but they're all dead.

Do you know what could've happened? Is the era of faucets over? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

The same thing that happened to Bitcoin faucets friend.  I still remember thinking it was cool that Gavin Andresen was giving away BTC to anyone just to spread adoption.  Without him creating that Bitcoin faucet, who knows how much longer it would have taken for Bitcoin to be discovered by mainstream audiences.  As with all good things though, it had to come to an end.  People create bots to take advantage of others' kindness or find other ways to steal funds when it becomes profitable enough to do so.  This is why we can't have nice things.  If there's free food being given out, it's only a matter of time before the eating disorders show up.
7566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: September 16, 2021, 03:42:32 AM
Nice to see that Kyrie Irving is still his same toxic self.  After a myriad of wild antics last year it seems the Nets have decided that they might want to move on from the diva guard.  In response to the Nets showing an interest in trading Kyrie, his agent has come out and said publicly that Kyrie will retire before playing with another team, seeming to tank his trade value and force the Nets to keep him on the roster.  Today Kyrie tweeted, My mask is off. Now take yours off. No fear.  He then clarified that this had nothing to do with Covid.  Assumingly, this is his response to the team's trade desire and him playing his "retirement" card.

Where can I sell crypto gambling accounts?
I have two accounts, one is BC.GAME VIP level 30 account and the other is Betfury.io level 6 account

Seems like this could have a bad ending for whoever buys it.  Sure, there may be some rewards associated with it, but what else has been connected to that account and if it was linked to some sort of nefarious activity, do you think as a new owner you would be protected?  This while seemingly harmless has a level of unforeseen risk attached to it that a prospective buyer is likely unaware of and in the eyes of the law likely borders on fraud.  Not saying this is directly illegal to purchase, but when weighing the risks and rewards you have to wonder if it's worth it to even take something like this if it were given to you.
7568  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Where did all the OG collectors go? on: September 16, 2021, 12:10:34 AM
agreed - as long as you are using fiat to buy the bitcoin and collectible. when you use 2 btc to buy something that is only worth .5 btc now - that is not good. While the .5 btc now is worth more than the 2 btc was then. It truly would have been better to keep the btc.

but for those that are all in on btc - that can be trickier - burning fiat to get btc or collectibles is a no brainer.

This is a misunderstanding of how value is accounted for when transferred.  As previously stated, I'm not saying what would have been be better, I'm saying what is.  What you are spending doesn't matter at all.  It's the amount of value that is transferred.  Bitcoin has made a historically horrible way to value anything over time, so when making purchases you use a currency that is used to actually value assets for real life purposes (not how Bitcoiners want them to be valued, how the government you pay taxes to actually values them).  Here on earth, the US Dollar is the reserve currency, so that is the standard currency we human beings use to measure value over time globally.  Whether you spent Bitcoin, dink doinks, gold, or doll hairs, the only thing that matters for your cost basis is the unit of account, and as stated, here on earth that is the US dollar.

Miss the fun raffles Cry

I used to put on a bunch but it seemed like interest in them was steadily declining.  At the time I blamed the fact that transaction fees were rising to the point where some raffle prizes were arguably not worth the transaction fee to enter the raffle.  Fees have come down a lot, so maybe a raffle would be successful now?  Who knows...  I'd be happy to put on a raffle if I thought there would be enough participants, but the idea was getting a bit stale (I think I started the first blockchain-tied raffle here more than 5 years ago).  As I type this I have an idea for a raffle that might be a little more fun and with more than the typical amount or risk.  Maybe I'll give it a try when I get more than a few minutes between projects to spare.
7569  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Transgender on MMA on: September 15, 2021, 11:53:39 PM
I don't care if the females don't care. ...[snip]
So in brief you don't care until it concerns a female sport you like... Roll Eyes But aren't you uncomfortable to see a (transgender) man beating a woman with his fists, his elbows, his knees and his legs? I found that horrible, she heavily bled from her mouth at the end of the fight. I feel sad for Celine Provost, I hope she won't be too much psychologically affected.
Well, @mindrust does have a fair point due to the fact that the female participant had an option whether or not to participate. While I know that this is not ethically and morally correct due to some biological differences especially when it comes to their bone density where most of them does not get affected and change even if you undergo with to an operation, still this is a business where the money comes in.

The point here is that the people behind this event were the ones who allowed them to have a/an fair unfair fight in the first place. And this simply means that once money is involved in such a firm, ethics will be left aside. What do you expect from a bUsineSS' point of view?

Usually I would agree with you on the whole freedom of choice thing... but, I'm not sure how many of these fighters you know in real life, but they are basically broke.  Even the pretty high level fighters.  They spend all their money training and don't make much back from their fights.  It's highly likely (I don't know the specific circumstances) that this was the only fight she could get and while I'm sure she would have preferred to fight a woman instead of a man, I'm sure she had bills to pay.  Shame on whatever promoter put on this fight, shame on the man who cut off his dick to pretend to be a woman and is now assaulting women for money, and shame on anyone who supported this event by buying tickets.  Feminism is one thing, but in competition there is an expectation of fairness, and a man fighting a woman isn't fair, regardless of what surgeries he's had.
7570  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Where did all the OG collectors go? on: September 15, 2021, 10:35:35 AM
I was mining in 2010-2011 time period but I was not into any collectibles back then - sadly. I wish I had been.

I see a lot of people say this, but had you been into collectibles at the time you may feel differently (probably not but here’s the dumb argument I hear a lot). I’ve seen quite a few people make the argument that buying Casascius coins for ~$20 back then was stupid, because you would have gotten more money had you just kept your BTC. Many people here are dense enough to even consider that a loss. Sure, the $50 I spent for my half a million dollar Casascius coins is one of the best investments of my life, but I’m not lying, there are users here who think that’s an investment loss because BTC has risen more in that time period. Just check out my trust rating from ibminer. With idiots like that in the community who call a half million dollar gain a loss and torment the makers of these products, why would they stick around?
7571  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Transgender on MMA on: September 15, 2021, 10:28:05 AM
Absolutely disgusting what society is saying is alright these days. This bitch of a man needs to stop beating up women for money and come to the realization that you can cut off your dick but that doesn’t make you a women. These liberal mental illnesses have gotten way out of hand. How far are we gonna let these idiots drag down our society and race?
7572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: September 15, 2021, 10:26:32 AM
Great to see Aaron Gordon get his 92 million dollar bag today. He has in my mind the greatest dunk ever in a dunk contest and was robbed of two dunk championships by terrible judges. He deserves the $ just for that in my opinion. It’s been a long grind for him getting all his skills in order, but he’s a threat from anywhere now and a great pickup for any team.
7573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Suggestions Needed for receiving rinkeby testnet ETH on: September 15, 2021, 06:58:03 AM
Thanks for the replies.  The faucet at https://faucet.rinkeby.io/ had been down but is back up and running now.  I was just able to get some of the coveted testnet ETH and use it successfully I might add.  Very cool.  It also makes me see how dependent the rinkeby developer network is to a single faucet.  You'd think Opensea would have something a little better in place considering they're selling NFTs in the billions of dollars in revenue...

Anyway, my request is no longer needed.  Happy ending reached.
7574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Suggestions Needed for receiving rinkeby testnet ETH on: September 14, 2021, 09:55:11 PM
I figured this was a good place to ask this question before hitting the Googles.  I am finding myself in need of some testnet ETH to, well, do some contract testing on the testnet.  I've been told this is as simple as visiting a faucet, but as mentioned I haven't done any searching of the interwebs yet.  I thought I'd save myself any potential issues and ask the crowd where the common place to receive testnet ETH is.  Thank you in advance developers and those enabling them.  Keep building the future!

"Why not a cas Goldie or silver"  Cheesy

If I had access to a cas for a photoshoot that would be the my first pick for the poster.

This poster is perhaps a starting point, If you like the idea and concept behind it I would be very grateful for your support.

Where are you located?  I have a casascius gold with an intact hologram that would make for a pretty picture.  I wouldn't mind having one of these done for myself personally with a NastyFans Minted Seat Coin and displaying the hologram.  Maybe we could work out some sort of a deal.  The detail captured in the hologram on your image is beautiful.  Congratulations on selling out and good luck with the next thing.  If I can be of assistance in any way feel free to let me know.  Smiley

7577  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 5oz .999 Silver NastyFans Minted Seats on: September 14, 2021, 07:55:41 PM
Are these by any chance still available?

Yes. There are still a few available for sale that are sitting and waiting to be engraved for you. They can be purchased using Bitcoin from our shop at https://nastyfans.org/mint

Once these coins are sold out, the opportunity to mint them will be lost forever. Don’t take their availability over the last several years for granted!
7578  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Where did all the OG collectors go? on: September 14, 2021, 07:50:47 PM
What is an OG collector, anyway? I bought a couple dozens of Casascius from Mr. Mike Caldwell himself at end of 2012. Am I an OG?  Cool

Yes :-)

-Dave

Hmmmmm...I didn't buy a couple dozen but did buy one silver/gilt from Mike himself in 2013...what does that make me? LOL

Is there a time frame and quantity a person must have bought to be labeled an OG?  Huh Wink

P.S.  and I am not a whale either

I consider things pre-2014 to be pretty OG. By 2016 every scammer on the internet was descending upon Bitcoin and these forums and the attitude changed from one of Libertarians trying to change the world, to scammers trying to get rich quick and attacking anything they saw as competition to their offerings. If I were to pick an OG collectibles peak though, it would definitely be 2011-2012 as that is where 99% of the innovation occurred in the space.

Ben Simmons is going to be playing game 1 with the sixers book it.
I hope somebody leaks a locker room video if this happens. That could be interesting and fun to watch.

If I am the 76ers management I'll take that deal with Fox. Damn, that kid has some skills already and a lot of room for improvement.
Fox is more than enough if Kings will push this trade, that kid really has a good future.

Pairing him with Embiid with the same minutes and same quality time that Sixers gave to Simmons,
we might expect them to be more competitive this coming season..
Sorry for my ignorance but I don't know how Fox really plays. Is he another pass to an open guy first type of player? He could make Embiid shine while helping in carrying the team if that's the case. It should be a good deal for the Sixers.

Fox is a speed demon who can put up a lot of points. He’s sort of like a more team oriented Westbrook.

Looks like John Wall and the Rockets are done. The Rockets announced they’re looking for a trade for him to find a new team. Announcing this publicly seems like a desperation move. Something must have happened for them to want to publicly beg for a trade like that. Maybe they’re hoping to get in on the Ben Simmons sweepstakes too.
7580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm back into Bitcoin! on: September 14, 2021, 11:06:02 AM
Hello everyone, I recently did a cleanup on my external hard drive and I found a wallet.dat file.

At first I didn't have any idea of what this was, so I went ahead and deleted the file and continued my cleanup. I was still pretty intrigued by the filename, "wallet" so I looked up the exact name of the file: 'wallet.dat'. The first search result was this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wallet. I read that it's basically a file containing all of the important information related to a Bitcoin wallet. I also read that this file is normally located in the Bitcoin Core wallet directory, so I went ahead and installed the latest version of Bitcoin Core and looked in my trash bin folder, and sure enough, the wallet.dat file was in there. I had to wait 2 days or so for it to sync to the blockchain. Unfortuantely, I knew did not mine any BTC back then, I could only remember visiting a faucet a few times.

Today I woke up to this: 2.49 BTC sitting in the balance field. Man, I knew Bitcoin wasn't worth 20$ anymore! Let me tell you, this made my day, probably, my week or even this entire year!

Is there anything I need to do now that I'm holding a pretty big amount of Bitcoin? I've read that hardware wallets are the safest, should I buy one? Is there anything I need to know?

Congratulations.  It's hard to believe stories like this when you read them on the internet, but I'm sure there's plenty of Bitcoin left on old hard drives all over the place.  I think this phenomenon is definitely partly responsible for the massive increase in market cap over the years.  I think the real market cap of Bitcoin is most likely quite a bit lower than what is stated, and more than other coins due to the fact that many of the early adopters of Bitcoin left long before altcoins were a thing and it looked like Bitcoin would be here to stay.
