7564  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin price may not crash like 2013 on: January 17, 2017, 08:25:38 PM
There is many reasons that can answer this question and mainly because :
1- there is no Mtgox
2- more users, more volume exchanged...

The greatest impact on the crash had China and their fake bans every month. The fall was started by Gox, but was continued by the lack of positive news that caused an outflow money from bitcoin to fiat.
Take a look at the charts from 2014. The initial wave, we could call it Gox wave, took us down from around 1150USD to 450USD between December and May. By that time the Gox situation was clear, they were out of the picture. The real depression started in August 2014 and dragged the price below 200USD.
For sure there is many implicated factors that may be common or not in both situation and I remember when bitcoin was at $200 and some people announced the end of the bitcoin's world
Anyway i see the price crossing $900 in barely all the exchanges now  Smiley

This correction (hopefully just that) is pretty welcome. Was getting too bubbly..

Euuh hope so
The bitcoin price went $30 down since the last time I checked it... I should say that the rise was very quick also
In the other hand the price at the Chinese exchanges is over $1200!

If you had a time machine getting you back to early stages of Bitcoin development in 2009-2010..

What would you say to satoshi?

I would say to satoshi to tell theymos to lock and prevent these kind of topic
I am not that old in this forums and this is the second thread (at least) talking about the same thing...
7570  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 30, 2016, 10:05:18 AM
So what's happening now??  Is this a healthy consolidating correction before the next upward surge or has the bubble just burst??

There is always a bubble behind the exploding bubble  Tongue

And the new bubble will grow up and will be bigger than the previous one and will stay longer
Imo it is consolidating right now and it is early to say that it's just a bubble effect
7571  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-12-30] New Image Hosting Service Pays Thousands of Uploaders in Bitcoin on: December 30, 2016, 10:00:38 AM
This is exciting! it is much better for anyone who wants some btc than faucets who pays peanuts.
I will have to check the site to get more details like minimum payout threshold etc

It is already mentioned in the article that they are sharing 50% of their ads revenue and that the minimum threshold is $1

Quote
There is a $1.00 minimum to withdraw. However, once earnings are finalized, bitcoins can be withdrawn at any time, according to the site.
7572  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 0.5 BTC GIVEAWAY! TO END THE YEAR IN STYLE :D on: December 30, 2016, 09:56:50 AM
Would like to participate and i have few remarks
1- splitting the prize as said in a previous post is a good idea so there will be 3 winners
2- making a minimum activity limit is recommended to avoid spam
Good luck for everyone

the fees charged by traditional payment services such as Paypal would make the business model unviable
This stupid tard service should be abandoned forever

Quote
In the one month of operation, the service is off to a strong start. “The user base is around 2000 users since we launched a few weeks ago on Reddit
“around 70% of the users are active.”
As we stand now, we are only doing image monetization but we are going to focus on broader content monetization such as, files, documents, videos, and a few other options in the coming months.

It appears that the site had a nice start and had a plan to expand its service, i will think to use it once I have something to upload, good luck for them
7574  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 29, 2016, 12:40:11 AM
Yeah, i have cheated, fall asleep at ~970$ in CNY. When i woke up, it only took 3 hours to reach the 1k$ Cheesy was only off about 13 hours, not that bad.
The price didn't pass the $1k right?
Anyway i will Keep an eye on https://tradeblock.com/markets/stmp/xbt-usd/30m/
The Chinese exchanges gonna break the $1000 soon and guess who will follow them Wink
Go bitcoin you can do it before 2017
7575  Economy / Speculation / Re: These are the good times. on: December 29, 2016, 12:26:57 AM
My friends are not calling me re bitcoin yet...they might if/when we pass $1000 (currently $981.77, LOL).
It is not the actual price that excites bitcoin newbs, it is the rate of change.
People did ask when it went from $430 to $750 very rapidly.

Seeing the price exploding has a nice smell so lemme enjoy the moment and let's talk about the rate of change later  Wink
Didn't follow the movement of the price well but it seems that it didn't crossed the $1000 line yet in the Chinese exchanges ($998. 07 okcoin which leads the price)
7576  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: December 27, 2016, 10:03:22 PM
@snipie I see now the issue, the issue is the last space in the message which makes the signed message invalid.
Well i used my phone to signed the message using mycelium app. The extra space is probably because of the autocorrection on my Android keyboard.

This problem is so recurrent and it happened many times and will continue
Generally i come here too late to verify and quote the message but when it happens i start the verification with coinig.com which fails often then i have to added or remove spaces in bitcoin.com to get it to works (meanwhile the message got verified by someone else Smiley)
Anyway problem solved for Jemzx00 and thx smartlphone for the reply
7577  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-12-27] Halving History Suggests Bitcoin’s Price Is Heading for $11,210 on: December 27, 2016, 09:54:12 PM
Quote
We’ve looked at price peaks after previous all-time highs had been reached and what the price did after halving 2012. There are many variables missing, but with the inputs we’ve used, the current price trend could land Bitcoin between approximately $5,290 and $11,860,00.

The guy writing this article isn't serious
"there are many variables missing" so find it before calculating the price
"with the inputs we’ve used" oh really 1.7 x  $648 = $11,210
More precisions here
Quote
1,730 percent (the percentage price increase after halving 2012) of $648 comes to about $11,210
On the halving day 2016, the price of Bitcoin stood at $648
I think everyone want to see the bitcoin price +$10k but this article is a failure...

7579  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-12-27]The most prosperous 6 digital coins 2016 on: December 27, 2016, 12:15:48 PM
To expand this a little bit: the author is talking about 1-Monero (XMR) with a rise of +900%,  2-Siacoin (SC) + 500%,  3-Ethereum (ETH) +332%, 4- Storjcoin (SJCX) +282%,  5- Factom (FCT) + 220% and finally 6- DASH with +80%
Personally I don't know half of the coins here and from the charts in the article it was a spike that happened then their price dropped again without counting the starting price to talk about how significant is the rise...
7580  Other / Meta / Re: How to deal with spammers bumping old threads? on: December 24, 2016, 04:02:41 PM
I think that auto locking of old threads is not very good idea. For example, owners of small and not popular services rarely post to their topic and rarely get responsesfr om users. But sometimes they need to bump or update their topic, or user want to ask important question.
Maybe it would be better just report bumps made by signature spammers?
No, just no.

If some user wanted to ask question on a small service whose post isn't posted in a long period of time, they can simply open a new thread or PM the site owner. Or the thread starter may specify the auto lock time of his thread, maybe from as short as 7 days to as long as 3 months.

Didn't understand what you are talking about
Every service owner could bump his topic once every 24 hours so the auto-lock will not affect them... It will affect the old and inactive topics
