If he did 100 posts for .1 then he would be paying less then FortuneJack and people would simply FortuneJack for making only 20 additional posts.

I think there would be an argument for opening it up to full members and members as these groups make up the majority of the accounts and spam shouldn't be an issue (at least after a month or so when the spammers get banned and/or not paid for their shit posts) if it was opened to lower level members

That was just an example. It could be 0.12 for 80 posts or whatever, but whatever it was I'm sure it'll be the highest paying and better than any of the other currently open deals. I don't have a problem with Members or Full Members as long as they don't shitpost, but the majority of the spam will come from Members. Seniors tend not to get carried away as they've invested a decent amount of time (or sometimes money) in their account so it's counterproductive to lose it by spamming.
7582  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] Bitcointalk.org forum accounts - Inventory Updated 11/11/14 on: November 21, 2014, 02:39:40 PM
I would expect to have interest increase once he actually opens the campaign back up and the details are available as it makes it easier for people to see just how much time/work would be involved until they can ROI on their account.

Yeah, suppose it all depends on the rates and whether it's a fixed campaign or not. If it's not fixed and has high payouts like it originally did I suspect Senior accounts and above will rise in value almost instantly.
I think a best case scenario would be it to be a pay per post with a capped maximum number of posts allowed with quality/spam control with spam posts not being paid. This would result in the value of existing accounts increasing and people potentially buying several accounts to get around the capped maximum number of posts (which was common when PD and dicebitco.in were limiting the max number of posts). On the other hand if it is pay per post with unlimited posts then the value of accounts will rise even further but few will buy more then one.

I don't think he will do a fixed rate deal because rates are much higher and really aren't good for the kind of exposure that he is looking for (IMO at least).

Fixed rates have their place and do minimise spam, but I agree from an advertising standpoint it also minimises exposure whilst paying essentially double. Their fixed rate doesn't have to be the same model as the others though. They could request 100 posts for 0.1 or whatever. If it's a pay per post I'm sure it'll likely be limited to Seniors and above and some fairly strict quality controls should hopefully be put in place.

Have you had a noticeable increase in PMs for accounts? I wonder if Stunna announcing the return of the PD campaign very soon will have any effect on the interest in them  Grin.
7585  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: November 21, 2014, 12:14:12 PM
anyone know a good horror movie?
The most recent one I enjoyed was American Mary. More uncanny and freakish than scary, but maybe I just think she's hot.  Undecided

I brought this up earlier in the thread, but coincidentally, every movie with the word "American" in the title seems to be good...

American Mary was pretty good. I think they could've made a great series out of that film. There was so much they could've explored and crammed into such a short time. I also think Bloody Mary would've been a better title  Cheesy.

"Never Let Me Go" is a little known movie that really impressed me. It is best watched without prior knowledge.

Very good flick indeed... I'd recommend it!

Where have you been all year? Was wondering where you disappeared to.

99.9% scam.

If it is why would he try sell a cracked one as opposed to a brand new one? People are obviously going to want to see a picture of it regardless but even more so to see the extent of the damage.
7587  Economy / Goods / Re: Cracked Iphone 6 on: November 21, 2014, 07:40:36 AM
i have a slightly cracked iphone for sale. everything works. its att. 16gb. black. 1BTC
Slightly cracked?
Please post a picture.
For all we know it might look like this:

Haha. That'd probably get described on eBay as New (other). Description: "Only used once".

You bought a brand new phone on November the 14th and have broken it already?

Welcome back. Where have you been? Been busy pimping out sexcoin?  Cheesy I have a new friend for you. She's very lonely being the only female on this site whilst you were gone: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=784915.0

How would newcomers tell how trustworthy an escrow was? How long someone has been around is very relevant especially when you factor all the other different parameters you propose to get rid of. Age or number of posts etc doesn't equal trust by itself but when you factor in other things like the trust system it gives you a pretty good idea of who you can and cannot trust. If everyone was on a level playing field from newcomers to long-time trusted Legendary members it would be a nightmare.

To improve security I would suggest that staff or theymos  either do the escrow or get real life id and collateral   from anyone running any kind of business from banking, investment and ponzi schemes.... And give them some commission to make it worthwhile etc

In layman's terms, anyone who's holding the coins of the community for any reason should be held more accountable than what we have now

I'm guessing most staff and even escrows wouldn't be comfortable providing ID, nor do staff moderate on scams anyway. Staff shouldn't be blindly trusted either and I'm surprised you're suggesting this. Staff is just a rank and doesn't necessarily make them anymore trusted than someone else. Providing ID or other documentation isn't a guarantee of anything either as 1) they can easily be faked 2) they would give people a false sense of security - people who's identity has been previously known or have even provided legitimate ID have scammed before and scammers will then take advantage of this system.

Quote
Its not the  perfect solution but it would certainly cut down on scams where people trust an account with hundreds of posts etc

It's not about having done 'hundreds of posts' but you take many factors into consideration including how active you are and your previous trade history and that's why these details are all valuable informations to help you make your mind up about a user. Someone who has been here for years is very unlikely to rip you off for 0.001. A newb who's been here less than a day is though and getting rid of these things would make John K look the same as randomscammer69 to a newcomer.

Nope. "Very soon" according to Stunna's quote above but if that's PD3 time we're talking it could be years  Cheesy. Hold tight and it'll be here soon enough. I'm sure the value of your accounts are going to rise along with the interest in them also very soon  Grin.

Ah geez H@C the way you worded that I'm thinking of PD3 all over again  Grin
Well at least it will come it beats a BFL 2 Weeks TM anyday haha
Otherwise pretty quiet on the sig campaign front atm

I'm sure it won't be anywhere near that long. Re-opening and re-rolling a signature campaign out is a little less complicated and stressful than an entire site. You don't have to check for bugs and make sure every aspect of it is working properly as it is pretty straight forward. Once it's up and running hopefully me looking after it (if that indeed does happen - nothing confirmed yet) will take some stress off Stunna so he can concentrate on the site or other business matters etc).

This is somewhat speculation:

BIT-X.com appears to have a rather large advertising budget as he is bidding on all 8 forum advertising slots @ 2.95 BTC each (total bid value of 23.6 BTC) so he may potentially start a big signature campaign in the future as he appears to have a large advertising budget.

[...] so it would almost certainly make sense for him to start a signature campaign as signature campaigns are generally more cost effective then forum advertising.

Wishful thinking haha. Not everyone who bids on ad slots will also do a signature campaign (that's even if he pays for them if he wins). I agree that a signature campaign would likely be better in exposure and more cost effective than forum ads though (maybe someone should tell him that  Cheesy).

c) I don't have a blockchain account.

TREAT AS SUSPECT!

I think merely treating it as a scam/suspect is an understatement. I think you're safe in guaranteeing it's a scam based on C alone  Grin (though all three reasons combined should seal the deal). If anyone gets these types of emails they should just load up a bookmark and check their balance on the blockchain instead rather than clicking on links. The beauty of the blockchain is you don't even need to log in to see your balance as it's all there for anyone to see.
7593  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: SELLING BITCOINTALK ACCOUNTS on: November 20, 2014, 07:42:43 PM
This should really be stopped or done only within trusted members network. It's very much ok that way than selling senior member account or full member account to some newbies

taking away  the registration date , activity count and post count would be the best way to solve this or at least make it invisible so every member appears equal

no trusted
no senior
no hero etc

take away the incentive to buy trusted accounts to use in scams ......

This would be counterproductive and have the opposite effect. Scams would go up considerably if we were all 'equal'. Age of account, activity and trust etc are all helpful when dealing or trusting a user but that doesn't mean you should blindly trust everyone who has a certain amount of those things but they are all valuable informations to help you make your mind up about an account. Should long-time and trusted members like tomatocage and vod etc be the same as some random newb? No.

ALL DEALS SHOULD BE DONE WITH ESCROW
the amount of time anyone has spent making posts has no correlation  to how trustworthy they might be

Dank is probably the greatest example of a complete  degenerate with the status of  "legendary" just because he posts a lot of crap....

7595  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: November 20, 2014, 06:22:20 PM
I think that was stated because, for example, if the admins state making shitposts exclusively in off-topic is likely to get you banned people will then try avoid making shitposts in offtopic and do them in the alt coin sub or whatever etc. The rules aren't there to try purposely catch people out but to limit people bending the rules or attempting to bypass them and limit people from attempting to protest their innocence by trying to bring up technicalities because of "the rules".
7596  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: November 20, 2014, 06:17:05 PM
I have no details on the pay scheme or what type of campaign it'll be yet as I haven't really discussed it in depth but I've offered my opinions. All I know is they're interested in me running it and I'll let everyone know as soon as I know and is appropriate to do so.
7597  Other / Meta / Re: The definitive explanation of how activity works! on: November 20, 2014, 06:12:13 PM
You can work it out using this:

1 X 14 = 14....

I'm on my way to senior! 1 week or 2 to go. This is going to be a great achievement for me!

Did you give up?

I think he might've got banned. Think that account either belongs or did belong to quite a prolific account farmer.

Can I ask please...

Every 2 weeks you can get maximum 14 activity points right?

So every 2 weeks make sure you log and post to get the points? Or simply keep logging in every 2 weeks then spend a day spamming after a year of logging in and you can reach hero member?

The way you phrased that is a bit confusing, but you only need to make one post per fortnightly period to get the full potential 14 points which you can then collect all the rest at a later date. If you try spam your way to quickly get the points and rank up you're likely to be banned though. It'll take a year and a half to get to a Hero account so just be active, contribute constructively and do the time and you'll get there eventually, but there is no quick way to achieve this.
7598  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin-Police trust system abuse. on: November 20, 2014, 06:05:22 PM
I do not think hilarious is on the trusted list so it would not show up unless you clicked "untrusted feedback". I think after all the recent events anyone with weighted trust will be really careful leaving feedback...I know I will be!
Yes they sure did a nice job as using me as the "or else" example didn't they? Better do what we say OR ELSE we will remove your default trust like Tecshare. I am glad they could freely appropriate all my hard work on gaining trust to themselves and act as if it was simply granted to me to justify taking it away.

Or you could just toughen up your skin and ego and not leave negative feedback just because someone dared to say something you didn't like? Should trust abusers not be removed? It's a trust network and people are added and removed as appropriate. There's also nothing to stop you from getting put back on the trust list eventually (or even subsequently removed from it again), but going on about this over and over isn't going to do you any favours and if anything it will have more of a negative effect on your 'reputation' than merely being removed from defaulttrust ever would. None of your feedback that you have built up has been effected anyway, just your ability to leave it and that was your own doing.
7599  Other / Meta / Re: Possible to get notified when my "favorite" people post a message? on: November 20, 2014, 03:51:24 PM
If the person was pretty active you'd be spammed with updates so I can't see how this would work very well unless their posts were very infrequent. Probably would be easier to just check their posts every now and again.

OP who do you want to stalk? I bet it's BiPolarBob. He has a bunch of "fans" (aka moochers) that follow him to get free stuff.

Haha. Are you British by any chance? My Dad used to say that word all the time but I've never really heard many other people say it and I had always assumed it was some British regional slang but it seems to be taken from a middle English word via http://www.thefreedictionary.com/moocher. Cadge was another that people used and the site mentions as a synonym  Cheesy.
7600  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules - Work in progress on: November 20, 2014, 03:33:16 PM
Maybe because it's unofficial?

This is great. I think the list should be vetted by forum administration and stickied.
I think that's intentional there is no comprehensive rulebook.
Why so?

No "official" set of rules was ever published, because if rules are set in stone, then people will come up with clever ways to bypass them, and then complain when a moderator takes action. This is however a very good thread to read to find out in general what you can and can't do. I do believe it should be stickied, but kept as "unofficial"

I think Badbear said something similar to the bolded part before. Personally, if the list is here and available I think it should be stickied as I think it would be more helpful for users and staff than actually abused, though obviously some will try get around the rules, but the mods and admins still have the right to interpret the rules as they see fit.
