I THC what you did there.  Cheesy

I have some questions. How does the flavor and smell compare to more normal cannabis? Does smoking CBD cannabis like this provide noticeable effects? Do you still get the munchies? For pain relief, how does it stack up against CBD edibles?
7582  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: October 10, 2021, 06:05:03 AM
It makes sense though, at least from a moral point of view. I hate when the latest gadgets, and technologies go to scalpers, and they effectively rip off the public that are so desperate for it. Actually, while I hate the practice, I still blame the people willing to pay that amount I think.

You could argue he's just trying to give an excuse for delays in production, but I think its plausible to believe he's doing it for his reason given. It also looks great on Tesla, shows that they think about the customers which further increases sales.

I think it's probably a bit of both.  Sure, he could produce a few Cybertrucks now but the risk far outweighs any potential reward, to which I would argue there is none in shipping a few units now.  So obviously he's going to wait until they can get production going at full scale before doing anything.  The benefit of that is he is able to take the moral high road and give himself a pat on the back while making it seem like preorders are getting a million dollar vehicle for $40K.  Wins all around.
7583  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: is there such a thing as a non-scam cloudmining operation ? on: October 10, 2021, 12:14:42 AM
Not exactly cloud mining, but NastyFans has paid out weekly Bitcoin distributions for almost a decade now and generates the BTC from mining (along with donations and coin sales). There are also some pretty cool coins available that act as a wallet for your distributions.

7584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mentioned in Ted Lasso finale on: October 09, 2021, 11:15:19 PM
Can you tell us in which episode bitcoin took place? I haven't heard a lot of series that mention Bitcoin right now.
What is the occasion to mention bitcoin?
The last series I heard was La Casa de Papel from Netflix, but it depicted Bitcoin as a black market currency.

It was in the season finale of season 2.  A player calls home to talk to his Dad and his Dad is giving him a pep talk about how things are meant to be.  He uses the fact that he bought Bitcoin in 2009 to illustrate that point.  Then he repeats 2009 because the idea of someone happening to purchase some Bitcoin back in 2009 and holding it today would be life changing on a level most could never dream.  I imagine it would be giddy to even mention it had you been lucky enough to be in this position.  Makes me giddy even thinking about it.  As for the show, if you haven't watched Ted Lasso you're missing out.
7585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Never pay capital gains tax on: October 09, 2021, 11:07:34 PM
- Loan. This means you give someone temporary use of property/asset. You have NOT disposed of an asset - title is not changing. This is almost NEVER a taxable event. Bitcoin can be loaned and borrowed just as any other asset. You (remember "you" entity) can loan another entity property which is owned by the "you entity" and never ask for it to be returned.

This is the strategy being utilized by Wall Street currently, and most famously probably by Michael Saylor.  When you couple this with the wash trading rules, I'm sure a creative person looking to exploit loopholes could make quite a profit playing these sorts of games.  Personally, I think it's best not to do things that are going to make the IRS look into your activity, merely because that can lead to expensive repercussions even if everything you did is legal.  If you're a major player though and you're thinking long term, taking a loan against your assets instead of selling them is the play that the super rich have been using since investment markets began.
7586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 09, 2021, 11:03:47 PM
Ben Simmons is really a big loss for the team, his contribution in the regular season is huge, his problem just started in the series against the Hawks but it could also be mishandling of the 76ers coaching staff. For a superstar that would choose not t play if he will not get traded, there must be some big pain inside that he doesn't want to cooperate with the team.
Simmons was offended by the coach, teammates, team management, and especially by fans. I guess these are the main reasons why he probably hates everything about Philadelphia. Anyway, the 76ers should find a replacement for him if they want to fight for the title this season.
.

For him to be packing up his home and moving so quickly I would think he was probably getting lots of death threats and possibly even having his home vandalized.  I don't blame him for leaving.  As an individual, I applaud him.  As a fan of the NBA, the power dynamic has shifted way too far to the players.  The owners are starting to not be respected for their investment and that scares me.  As much as I think it would be a lose-lose for everyone involved, I think it would be a longterm win for the NBA if the 6ers just left him sitting without pay to show that players do not control the league.
7587  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do you explain the October pump? on: October 09, 2021, 11:01:11 AM
Bitcoin is often declared dead and has been throughout it’s history. It is only fitting that the market rallies into the Day of the Dead every year. Make sure to celebrate El Dia De Los Muertes this year and give thanks to Bitcoin for continuing to rise from the ashes time and time again.
7588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: October 09, 2021, 09:52:34 AM
Dwight Howard was a monster tonight. 23 and 12 in 23 minutes on 72% shooting. I can’t stress enough how much I feel like him not be re-signed is the reason they didn’t win it all last year. I hope Carmelo has his moments this year too. As an old guy, the Lakers are going to be fun to watch.
7589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin mentioned in Ted Lasso finale on: October 08, 2021, 10:58:04 PM
I was surprised to see Bitcoin mentioned in the Ted Lasso finale. That has to be one of the most popular shows out right now on AppleTV and nowadays that’s barely newsworthy. We’ve come a long way…

In the scene a man on the phone says he bought Bitcoin in 2009 and repeats 2009 while laughing. Pretty cool.
7590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sell GPU Miner or keep it? on: October 08, 2021, 08:18:17 PM
I think the least risky thing to do would be to sell it now and enjoy your profits.  Maybe even stake that ETH you make from the sale so you can continue earning ETH even without mining.  If the ETH price and difficulty go up enough, you might even find you're making more from staking that ETH than you would have mining with your miner.

With GPU miner prices being absolutely insane right now (but seemingly dropping by the day) and everyone expecting ETH to rise more in price, I think selling is probably the right move at the moment if you have a good buyer on the line.

If you like mining as a hobby though, you might find yourself going through withdrawals after you find yourself minerless.
7591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 08, 2021, 08:08:54 PM
Man, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons are really getting hammered on social media today.  There's a rumor going around that one of the teams offered the other a straight up trade and twitter is laughing at the idea of trading one problem for another.

It was also reported that Ben Simmons has packed up his home in Philly and will be putting it on the market for sale in the coming days/weeks.  I think it's safe to say we won't see Ben Simmons suiting up in a 6ers uniform again.  I'm not sure why he isn't in Sacramento yet...  Philadelphia must be holding out for more than they were offered, which is hard to believe when the other option is getting nothing.
7592  Economy / Collectibles / Re: (NFT'S) Anyone want to comment on them? on: October 08, 2021, 07:34:01 PM
I'm personally a fan of the Bitbones and BullsOnTheBlock NFTs.  They seem to have hardworking teams behind them that are innovating daily to stay ahead of the pack.  Bitbones with their cool development in the Sandbox and BullsOnTheBlock with their DAO and evolutions.

Also an honorable mention to Stoner Cats.  That's a pretty cool little cartoon and with a team made up of celebrities (Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Chris Rock, Seth Macfarlane, Jane Fonda, & Vitalik) I think it's probably a little safer than most.

I should probably also mention I released my own collection on OpenSea.io not too long ago featuring bikini models with some of my coins:

7593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: October 08, 2021, 06:43:31 PM

Wouldn't they be too disadvantaged if they have two of their good players gone for awhile due to injury? Pretty sure that they're going to have a hard time playing especially if they're a key players to the Pacers.

Yup! I have eventually changed my bet on final moments and my intuition to change was right Julius Randle done a great job giving 20 pts to the team, RJ Barrett did 17, Kemba Walker did 12 while Derrick Rose just put up 8 Pts, and have played 21 mins inside, but even though their performance and team work were great than with the Pacers.

The score was properly distributed, they are scoring well as a team and they don't only rely on one player, and I have that's what we are going to see in the regular season, Knicks is also an offensive power team, though they are lead by young players but they are in the East, they have a good chance to be in the playoffs and maybe at least advance in the 2nd round.

That is a good thing for the Knicks you can see from their play, they are not focusing on one player and distributing their play with passing the ball on the available player, although Pacer is doing the same the lack of key players was the thing on how the Indiana Pacers have lost,

Cleveland Cavaliers VS Indiana Pacers

I think the Indiana Pacers is looking for the win after losing from their preseason opener to the Knicks and Indiana Pacers have lost their five straight preseason games and are not looking good right now while the Cleveland Cavaliers have split their last six preseason games and with that, I think that the Cavaliers will win this +3.5.

We are on the same side mate, it's good to take the underdog during the preseason as they still give their 100%. Cleveland won their last game against the Hawks, so I'm riding with their success in the preseason as this might be their only chance to experience a good win. I'm also betting on the ML  and under 217.

I think you guys are really crazy betting the preseason.  Seems more like a coin flip to me instead of sports gambling since most of the players in the game aren't the team's main unit.  For some teams though I guess this is the only time of year you can win a bet with them. Smiley

It won't be much longer now...  The media interviews were enough to keep me satisfied for a little bit longer.  I am ready for opening day though and moreso for the upcoming Lakers/Warriors game.

Reading about the US minting a trillion dollar coin and thought I’d remind everyone who did it first (kidding).  Cheesy

Honestly though, the idea that a coin could be valued at a trillion dollars and be made out of platinum says something about the rarity of platinum and the future inflation expectations of our officials even if the valuation is utterly ridiculous.

It’s been a while since this thread made an appearance so this bump is for the newcomers.
7595  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is minting a $1 trillion platinum coin the answer to the debt limit crisis? on: October 08, 2021, 08:56:22 AM
The funny thing to me is how they make a point to say it’s a platinum coin. As if that somehow makes it’s trillion dollar valuation more reasonable. They might as well make it out of aluminum. It makes no difference.

My response to the US government… FIRST.

7596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 08, 2021, 12:39:46 AM
But its unfortunate that Klay status still unclear and it seems that we will never see him running on the court this pre-season since his still unclear although its good to see him shooting around in the practice but for sure GSW will never force him to play since he will provably end up his career if he get another serious injury if they force him. The only thing they can rely now is to strengthen their current line up and create a chemistry to the existing one at with their new addition.
As far as I know, Klay Thompson is only doing limited exercises, and he's still not playing 5-on-5 during training sessions. So we definitely won't see him in these preseason games and at the beginning of the regular season. Most likely, he will be able to return to court in December or later.

Yeah, looking forward to that.

I think that Klay is one of the people that will instantly come into the lineup and make a huge difference.

Don't count out the Warriors this year. They have shown time and time again that Curry and Klay are 2 forces that you simply cannot ignore when they are combined together.

I would agree that it's the combination of Klay and Steph that is so dangerous.  Steph is insane so he can get his own shot, but when you give him another shooter like Klay it opens up the floor and gives him a chance to shoot open jumpers at an outrageously accurate clip.  I think given that Klay was never really dependent on his athleticism he'll probably come back as good as ever, but Draymond hasn't kept up his game as well in the years since the Splash Brothers have dominated the league.  While I think they'll always be a threat so long as they're together, I think the lightning they had trapped in a bottle is out, and I don't see them winning another championship together.
7597  Other / Meta / Re: Rapid shitposting attack on: October 07, 2021, 09:18:50 PM
So many chipmixer signatures in this thread...  At a quick glance I'm not sure who the shitposters in this topic are but I do know who in this thread is paying the most money as a result and who is getting paid the most money to continue participating.  Strange how those things always seem to be the same regardless of what drama is being created or if there is any real basis behind it (not saying this isn't a legitimate case of shitposting, just saying it's almost always the same players getting paid for their role in participating in the discussion).

Maybe stirring up drama and keeping it in the light for money isn't the best incentive to increase the usefulness of this forum and retain legitimate members with good intentions?
7598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did you miss Bitcoin? on: October 07, 2021, 09:05:27 PM
Why didn't most people expect Bitcoin to be as brilliant as it is today?

I guess I'm one of the folks who thought Bitcoin would be more brilliant today and has been extremely disappointed in the development the last half decade.  It was such a promising technology to change the world with so much momentum it's still carrying us to this day, even though now it's just a get rich quick tool that Wall Street is going to exploit for never-ending management fees.  I had such higher hopes and expectations.  The insane price appreciation brought the worst of the worst to our once great libertarian based community and it's now full of scammers out for a quick buck, jealous of those who built things and desperate to tear down others so they feel like they can catch up.  It's a toxic environment that I don't see how it could possibly be successful long term, but is the result of it's success.  Most of the real decentralized solutions involving game theory development are now done on alternative chains while Bitcoin is pushed as a store of value and it's users are urged not to use it.  If this is a successful approach to building a currency, everything I know about economics is wrong.
7599  Other / Meta / Re: Merit cycling club? on: October 07, 2021, 08:54:56 PM
(in before the third chipmixer signature campaign member!)

Well, it can't be an actual merit cycling club, because that would be against the bitcointalk.org rules that were set in place long ago and that would not be allowed here.

It also can't be trolling, because that would be against the no trolling rules that the administration has been tasked with enforcing and therefore would also not be allowed here.

So in short, your guess is as good as mine.  I can't think of any legitimate reason for a merit cycling club to exist, so the mystery of why it exists and what it set out to accomplish remains without so much as a possible explanation.  It does give people a talking point, which means more posts like this one, more forum views, and more campaign money flowing to those of us spouting nonsense for bits.  So I guess that makes it a good thing.  Huh

Sell names tab?  Cool

https://www.namecoin.org/2021/09/25/ncdns-v0.2.2-released.html

piece by piece the puzzle is coming together.

Namecoin has been underappreciated for far too long.  When you look at the statistics, it's dumbfounding why it isn't valued 100x higher.  I think it's the result of several unique market factors like merged mining causing constant dumping by pools, lack of advertising, prior performance assumed to be future performance, and lots of undeveloped potential.

I think once the market matures and the average investor in crypto ups their IQ a bit, gems like Namecoin and all the earliest NFTs will become sought after collectibles.  It was recently rated the #60 crypto coin by an independent rating team and if it were to realize that position as a market cap, it would be trading at $200 per coin.  That's likely a more fair and earned valuation, and I think it will be realized at some point.  If all the pump and dump shitcoiners only knew what they've been ignoring...
