761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash — currency of the future? on: November 24, 2017, 11:48:00 PM
I always believed that DASH is a great cryptocurrency. And the events of these days have shown I was not mistaken. Now, when this altcoin has shown such an awesome growth, do you believe that it can be a currency of the future?

this pump is nearing its end phase and people may start dumping soon. i wouldn't say that just because there is a pump it means that a coin is the future of cryptocurrencies or even currency in general. Dash is just another altcoin at the end of the day.

If cryptocurrencies were to succeed in the long run, then BTC will be the leading crypto to succeed. Not dash.

But dash can definitely be used for short term trading, that's for sure. SHort term dash can be really profitable to hold.
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AltCoins that have huge potential (in 2018 ) on: November 24, 2017, 11:42:32 PM
I have made a list of altcoins that may hold a great potential in 2018
Post you comments and suggestions ,additions to the list

Ripple
Iota
NEO
Dash
Monero
Stratis
Litecoin
Lisk
EOS
OmiseGo
TenX
Civic
Storj
Siacoin
Golem

In my opinion, your list is way too general.

You're basically listing every single coin in the top 20 plus some coins in top 50.

I think that the coins that you should really look out for out of all of these is Iota, Monero, EOS and SC. Siacoin is probably the best coin out there for decentralized storage and no reason why it can't return to 150 sats or more by the end of next year. Iota is nearing a dollar per IOT and that can go way over the current price next year as well.
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DGB is pumping! on: November 24, 2017, 11:35:49 PM
DGB start pumping now, is +%7 now!

7% gains are pretty normal, whilst it could be a start of a new pump it could just be some random guy that is purchasing Digibyte, driving teh price up and having nothing to do with a big potential run up that is coming.

It does look like that the price is bottoming so if you want to baghold DGB for the long term, it could be a good idea to do it now.

I wouldn't think that we'll see as crazy a pump as we saw back in May and June, though. That was just crazy.
764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRYPTOCURRENCY INDEX FUND for LONG TERM GAINS on: November 24, 2017, 11:33:04 PM
So i've recently ran into Crypto20 but i have an issue with this new 'Token'.

If you haven't heard of it, quick breakdown:
1. It's the first 'tokenized cryptocurrency index fund'
2. Its a hybrid portfolio trading with an index strategy that tracks the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market cap
3. only 75 million are created, once ICO closes any Tokens left over will be burned (meaning no more are created ever)
4. To Learn more check it out here: https://crypto20.com/en/ (ICO is still going on!)

Crytpo20 seems like a gift from the cryptogods for people who appreciate long term gains & holds vs pump n' dumps, like i do.

... BUT here is my issue. For those who live in *certain countries; that is USA, Cayman Islands or South Africa,
we are excluded from participation and investment in the ICO and
from what i understand investing in that token ever.(i may be wrong about ever)
Super LAME man  Angry

So I want to know if any of the lovely members on this wonderful forum heard word of any similar ICO's
or maybe a cryptocurrency already on the market performing like an index fund?

*if i don't find one soon, i'll just have to make it myself  Wink

Tell you what. There is a decentralized verison of this on the BTS blockchain and i believe you should probably look into it. It's Bit20 and has been around longer than crypto20, and has absolutely no country restrictions.

I suggest you check them out if you're interested. However honestly for a long term investor you should hold all of these coins yourself, in a safe wallet, instead of trusting someone else to do it for you.

Here's the link to coinmarketcap: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bit20/
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DASH has shown its greatest growth on: November 24, 2017, 11:28:40 PM
DASH crypto has reached its maximum on November, 13. Do you see any reasons of its rapid growth? Shall those ones who were eager to buy this altcoin wait a bit until its price will fall or will it grow further?

I don't know why, but at least i held a couple DASH before this and benefited from it so i'm happy overall.

I've already sold becaues i felt like the price was already somewhat lagging and we're probably going to see one last pump or none at all before a dump to 0.05 or somewhere like that. We've seen that with DASH pumps all the time.

Don't get greedy in such a volatile market.
766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Diamond on: November 24, 2017, 11:26:38 PM
Here we go again guys with another fork, only difference is this time the total coin supply is 210Million and you get 10 Bitcoin Diamonds per Bitcoin you own. Binance already added.

Why are we allowing this to happen as a community? How come we can't just step in and refuse to allow a fork to take place?

We can't just refuse a fork to take place. That's impossible.

However if you don't like a fork you could always just dump the forked coin to buyers. Nothing says that you can't do that. I doubt the price will hold up to what it is right now because everyone gets 10 of it per bitcoin and that would mean per bitcoin you'd get 0.08 BTC for free.

I don't see that as a sustainable price, maybe 0.01 BTC is more realistic in my opinion.
767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alts have Real World Usages and are not pump and dumps? on: November 24, 2017, 11:21:34 PM
Bitcoin does not have triangle pump and dump shapes in its charts. Im Looking for established Alts that have real world usages in the top 200 of coinmarketcap.

Bitcoin and Ethereum have real world usages hence they are at the top 2.

Generally real world usages Alts are mostly cloned into several different Alts claiming to be better, cheaper, faster etc.

Which Alts are unique, established, has a committing team behind it to see it into the future and will definitely survive in a long term bear market?

Hopefully I get good responses that are not Biased.

Honestly bitcoin probably is seeing the most "real life usage" out of all the cryptocurrencies at the moment. If you want altcoins then i'd say monero, they have a local trading website that people can use to trade XMR for fiats.

Using bitcoin means that you have to reveal your wallet balance to whoever you're trading with irl, and XMR curbs that.

I also want to say gaming coins, but i guess that's not really "irl usage".
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Chart of the Day | Today's big Gainer on: November 24, 2017, 10:02:58 PM
Bitcoin cash has been on a rollercoaster recently and has gone as far upwards as half a bitcoin in price. Obviously now it's under 0.2 again, but still it's pretty high. Pumps come and go in regards with Bitcoin Cash, without any long term effect.

It's becoming more and more of a pump and dump at least to me.

Bitcoin cash wants to be the bitcoin but we all know that's impossible. That means that long term value is hugely undermined.
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think of my portfolio? on: November 24, 2017, 09:58:19 PM
Hi. I have been in the cryptoworld for a short time but I find it very interesting and I am creating my portfolio of coins. I have less than 500 USD (I know that for many it is very little) distributed in the following way. I would like to know what you think of my portfolio. Any criticism or suggestion is valid. My plan is to hodl long term.

Thank you!

Several things:

1. Way too many coins to effectively keep track of. Even if you use blockfolio you'll be having a nightmare just managing all these 20 or so altcoins and entering transactions every single time. Also it means that you'll have to keep all your coins on an exchange which is something really insecure, as downloading wallets will be a hassle and syncing the blockchain.

2. Not enough top 10 coins. LTC, IOTA, ETC, or even BCH instead of BTG is a good idea.

3. No point having $5 or less worth of cryptos. Transaction fees will cut into your profits even if it does rise.
770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to safely set up myetherwallet on a pc with internet, or alternatives on: November 24, 2017, 09:55:33 PM
Hello friends.

I have set up myetherwallet, created the password, private key etc, JSON file, paper wallet. I saved them all on a USB. I used a computer with internet connection. IS this safe, or should I somehow set it up on an offline machine?
are there better alternatives to MEW?

thank you very much.

I've been using MEW just on its own for a while now, with a chrome addon. Never had funds stolen or anything like that. As long as you keep your browser addons and your actual computer clean i doubt you'll run into an issue.

The thing is really make sure that you keep all your backups safe. A usb is a good start but usually having paper ones and laminating them to make them at least water resistant is a good idea just in case USB fails.

I haven't tried offline MEW but i think it is possible, and for storing large amounts i'll probably go with the actual ethereum offcial wallet.
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10k Bitcoin upcoming!? What are your plans for the Alts? on: November 22, 2017, 08:43:10 AM
Anyone feeling the way I am: Bitcoin is about to jump up to 10k!

We have broken 8k and the next stop seems to be 10k. This would mean a 25% increase in the price. If Alts follow the pattern from before (Bitcoin Gold and Segwit 2x forks) we can expect a drop of 30-40% in the Alts. I will probably sell my Alts and wait for the coming drop. Or does anyone think that Alts will rise along with Bitcoin? What are your plans for the Alts in the coming week/month?

Yeah definitely, i feel like markets are definitely prepared to head to the next level now.

$10000 is already in sight. Actually prices in countries where the economy is in bad shape such as Zimbabwe is already over the $10k mark which is pretty good news. Whether this will influence altcoin price on a large scale is up to debate.

Personally i don't think that a 30-40% drop like you mentioned will happen. I would expect maximum of something like 10-20%.
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Lisk or Waves? on: November 22, 2017, 08:34:08 AM
What do you guys think will bring more value in long term with 700 dollar to invest?

I think that both are pretty undervalued at the moment, so you are probably better off diversifying your investment 50/50 among the two coins. Lisk has some pretty awesome community and so has waves, and in the end that is what going to drive the price up eventually.

As i said - diversify instead of seeking one coin that you want to invest all your money in. And holding some waves and some lisk makes a lot of sense.

$700 is not a lot, so consider trading short term and hold long term instead of holding all the time.
773  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Coinbase - Views Please on: November 22, 2017, 08:26:03 AM
I am looking at Wallet options for my mining project in 2018.

Reviewed the likes of doing it myself with the likes of Xapo, Electrum etc; but interested in Forum members opinions of Coinbase for Wallet/Exchange capability.

Anyone had any experience of using their services? Good, bad or indifferent?

Xapo/Coinbase etc. have no apparent advantages in my opinion other than their offchain transfers which have no fees. Obviously that's good but in practice you're rarely going to find anyone that conveniently has funds on the same service as you are using.

Coinbase has pretty shitty customer support as well so don't expect much if you run into troubles. Xapo is from experience better(but not that much) for customer support. Both have heavy AML and KYC regulations which you should consider about.

TBH, if you can go with Electrum or something that you can hold your own privkeys with, go for it.
774  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: How to Claim BTG from Blockchain.info ? on: November 22, 2017, 08:21:22 AM
Thanks, that update to the Coinomi tutorial got me the BTG I was having trouble retrieving.  Grin Appreciated!

Yeah same here. For anyone else that is wondering what this coinomi thing is, it is essentially importing your private keys into a multi-coin wallet that also has support for bitcoin gold. Pretty easy process to go through actually.

All you need to do is to first find all your private keys from your recovery phrase on blockchain.info(there are tutorials out there regarding how to achieve that), then you will need to just go to coinomi, add wallet(bitcoin gold), and find the swep option.

Then, you're pretty much done and ready to go.
775  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex lowers daily withdraw to under 1/2 BTC with 2FA on: November 22, 2017, 08:18:26 AM
So I guess Bittrex just lowered withdrawal amount from 3 BTC daily down to  .4 BTC    Sad.  Was able to take out more yesterday but not today. Now they show basic account with 2FA can only take out .4 .   Enhanced you can take out 100 BTC daily which is crazy, 800K+.  Should be a middle ground. I felt the 3 BTC was a good place to be.     I really don't feel like giving them my ID......

Yep, i saw the changes as well.

The thing is that they constantly update this figure to ensure that it is somewhere around $3k, which you can't really control. If bitcoin goes up then obviously that means a drop in the limits that you are able to withdraw. If bitcoin goes down then i'm assuming that limit will go back up again.

And yeah i feel like that there needs to be some sort of middle point between this 0.4 and 100 BTC. 5 BTC seems nice, without verification.
776  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info Anyone Experienced Frozen Balance on: November 22, 2017, 08:15:26 AM
Hi Im trying to log into Blockchain.info I can access my CP but I cant see my Balance , its frozen and another panel showing $0.00. Was about to do a split second transaction and get back to other things , now Im stuck. Anyone experienced this today or even before ? Thanks

It does happen sometimes, when there is an outage somewhere.

Seems like an issue that has already been identified by blockchain.info team and they're working to solve that as soon as possible. There is really nothing to worry about since you hold your own recovery phrase that can be imported elsewhere.

Just be patient, I mean they've been around for ages and there is really no way for them to freeze your funds.
777  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Cloud minning to invest my Bitcoins ? on: November 22, 2017, 07:15:53 AM
im new and i now with coud minning , i can win some bitcoins
I want now opinion about this to invest some Bitcoins

One word - don't.

Think about it. Why are there so many cloud mining sites out there that are willing to offer you plans? The only reason would be that they are making a profit from your contract. And if they were making profit mining themselves why would they sell you the contract in the first place? They could literally expand their business exponentially from their mining profits instead of having to give you the profits instead.

If you look around the forum, i'd say at least 90% of people will say that cloud mining isn't worth it. It's not just 1 or 2 people having a bad experience.
778  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: changenow.io - Review? on: November 22, 2017, 07:08:05 AM
It seems to be pretty new. Like less than a week. I want to sell BTG here, but looks very unreliable. Spelling errors, broken pages. Any one have any good experience with this?

I cant sell it in any other place. No wallet accepts deposit. How do I sell now?

Endorsed by actual bitcoin gold development team or at least saying so on twitter so the chances of them going scam would be much less likely than if it was just a random site that was dug up on google. You can trust them with anything under $1k in my opinion.

Anything over, still use the traditional exchanges like HitBTC or Bittrex. It's going to get you better rates and you don't need to worry about counterparty risk as much as you would with changenow.io, even though there has been no allegations of scam yet.

Used this for BTG -> BTC, went seamlessly.
779  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: localbitcoins.com very bad site on: November 22, 2017, 07:05:54 AM
Damn, this is really a hefty amount to be losing.

Unforutnately you did this yourself. Localbitcoins clearly only operates with bitcoin but somehow you still managed to deposit USDT into their system. While it is probably very easy for an individual to get these tethers when you hold the private keys, it's hard for a corporate since they have to take into account security and all that sort of stuff. But they did promise you March 2018, by which you can check back with them, which is better than nothing.

I heard that tether was hack or lost 30 million USDT that is why they are not let other people to exchange usdt into bitcoin until 2018..
i just found the thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2436765.0
This is i think the reason..
but if you just bought just now i think better to contact them to refund your money instead.. since you just bought your token with in the same day.. if not better to wait for 2018..  or wait for good news..

This has nothing to do with tether' hack.
780  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Read This Before Joining Any Shit Token Air Drops on: November 22, 2017, 07:01:54 AM
Great message to the community.

Most of these airdrops are going to be nothing of value. Thus, the "free" airdrops. Otherwise, why would they give it to you for free? They're probably much better off holding a ICO of some sort instead of giving away the tokens for free.

And to invest in one of these tokens that have absolutely 0 value is just ridiculous. Please don't do it, unless it's actually proven to be actively developed on.
