Holy crap! 2000!

Edit: interested

PM and spokesperson are clear, but I can´t really see how this academy is supposed to work?

Me either.  This is a question of succession management.  When a really big project changes hands from one group of people to another group of people, the group in control usually goes around and shows the incoming group all the ins-and-outs of what is going on.  This leads to a smooth transition.

What we have here is a group in control that deliberately is rejecting contact with the group it expects to take over the reigns, and isn't even going to leave them any documentation (whitepaper, code comments) to read on their own.  Maybe this is due to language barriers, maybe this is due to a true desire for anonymity, I don't know, but it is a huge huge huge burden to overcome.   And, it seems to me, a needless burden that shouldn't be there.

Most of all, there is a growing sense of frustration on both sides I think.  BCNext and CfB are always making statements that the community is not living up to expectations and its own potential.  The community just wants some goddamn basic clarity on a few key, fundamental points.  I shake my head in bewilderment and confusion about how such a situation can exist.

It will probably not end well.

If you have expectations that aren't being met, you look at the assumptions underlying that expectation.
BCNext may well have a kind of ideal audience (every creator/writer has), but that doesn't mean that ideal will work.

At the moment we have a clear shortage of knowledge. This is clear from statements, not from Average Joe, but from professionals in their respective field.

There is also a clear willingness to work. No one is looking for an easy handout. The request for knowledge is not made out of a need for "the easy way", but a genuine concern for Nxt.

If BCNext truly agrees with Dawkins, he should not sow the seeds for a "God" myth himself. Mystification for the sake of it will do that. Just give the people that cán work with it the code they need and they will. We have people that have PROVEN to be trustworthy already.

Then, if he wants, BCNext can truly be "out of the picture". So long as he is keeping the story of a "Third" and now "Fourth" revelation alive, he won't be.

I would sincerely like to see the community take over, because this is creating more confusion than there needs to be.

Edit: the situation now seems to be:

Community to BCNext cs: You first!
BCNext cs. to community: You first!

Clearly that is not a good state of affairs.

By the way, the *real* irony here is that we have a guy putting references to 1984 into his Genesis account and here we are willing to take his word without proof.

That doesn't reflect bad on BCNext, but on us!

To wax philosophical: people create their own chains.
If we want Nxt to be succesful, we need to lose the God-complex.

I am grateful for Nxt having been created, and also would like to have the talented person that created it on board. But just waiting for him to bail us out (and this is not meant as a criticism for all the people who *are* working hard!) is self defeating.

Good point.  Maybe, BCNext is intentionally being vague, because he wants us to be independent and think for ourselves.

Maybe, the "fatal flaw" is our reliance on him.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

For a "decentralised" project to depend on a central figure and even create some kind of "myth" around him is not needed.

If BCNext is not going to lead us and manage his baby, then we will need to take over. Get a full-time project manager on top of this and do it ourself.
But FFS, we need transparency and information.

This seems to be the crux right now.
BCNext has already said that he wants the community to take over.
So let's do that. If they need info, get it to them.
We need to take ownership of OUR Nxt project and move forward instead of waiting for some invisible figure that is supposed to bail us out in April.

If there is nothing finished in April, we're basically boned anyway. Better to be boned while having worked on it, that boned while being passive.

Does this seem reasonable and would BCNext (who still has info we need, I think) be willing to cede this information (looking at CfB here)?

Looking for a way out of this impasse Smiley

We are working hard. Everyone of us, but it would help out a lot if BCNext actually just made some factual statements about the plan, his planned involvement and so on.
I asked CfB to ask BCNext about this 2 months ago, then I took it up in this thread 2 weeks ago and we had a big discussion about it and clearly everyone was in agreement that we need to get rid of the smoke and mirrors, but now again this flare up because people want answers.

I just simply do not see what the big deal is. Why can't we just get all of this blur out of the way and get focused as a big collaborative effort.

We all respect BCNext and thank him for what he has done for us.  Now, we would like to help.

TBH, I couldn't care less about symbolism.
It's nice that BCNext wants it, and he is welcome to it.
BUT, to get back to the real world, we have a problem with information apparently, and that needs to be addressed.
We have a load of people who want to get on with it, and apparently they are stuck due to a lack of info.
I don't mind that the info they need is only shared with them, if BCNext doesn't want it in thread, but if you have professionals that are asking for info they need to do their jobs, the normal response is to take them seriously.

I hope so they won't feel spammed by Nxt, because I was sending them other texts in last days

Being spammed is their JOB!
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 26, 2014, 10:28:25 PM

Don't forget, we just blew something like 2-3 BTC on MintPal and they then turned around and said: "Sorry , we don't understand NXT, how about some nice TeslaCoin instead? "

As I said, they need to refund the money

I wish us all the luck in the world with that, but won't hold my breath Smiley
Let's at least learn from the experience!

Androklis Polymenis (me) donates a million digital NXT coins to BPF! $43,000. Press release [PDF]: http://goo.gl/t8tWY8

https://twitter.com/Lets_Upgrade/status/438525224368107520

wow,so generous.

This needs more media coverage. Anyone has account with http://service.prweb.com/ ?
I am on it, already submitted it to few sites. I am also registered at prweb, but they want $99-499 for one news release, bastards

Yes, but they want money, but they get it published to finance.yahoo.com and other sites

Again I think it's worth it.
I have contacted 20+ big sites already, but if these people can GUARANTEE that it'll be published on some of the biggest news sites in the world then it's worth it in my opinion.
Should be paid straight from the fund. Salsacz is already in control of a marketing fund, so if we're all in agreement on it I don't think that's a problem?

This just came up in the main thread.
I think it is basically a good idea, but want to make it into a solid plan, which then can be put up to the newly chosen committee for funding.
Might as well do it as well as we can Smiley

Each press release (with this service, but we could shop around and see if there are better prices and maybe better aimed services) are 3500-5500 Nxt to distribute.
If we do this well, we'd need a constant supply of press releases, so I'd like a group of writers to tackle it.

Would someone like to join me in thinking up a good solid plan for this so we can make a good proposal for funding, so we are auditable and not just throwing Nxt at it?

I'd like to show that the funds are used wisely. No garantuee it will get funding, but we might as well learn to make a good proposal and stick to it. Smiley

back to work. Do you think - could I borrow 15 seconds to the video from this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRWNr3MA2jo&feature=youtu.be&t=4m4s Cheesy

15 seconds should constitute "Fair Use" Smiley

But still, we have some geek girls around... However the Amsterdam ticket costs 10-12k Nxt...

Sure if a genuine NXTer girl wants to go to the conference that is great.
But we should be very weary of being labelled as "that sexist crypto who use cheap marketing strategies".

Let's have it clear it was a joke, just becáuse the discussion was had.

I think no one ever took it seriously...

1500 only if we had there running Raspberri Pi on solar energy on that table Smiley
I think the RaspPiSolar is going to be our star attraction.....

We have time enough to make it a good stand. Raspi is a must.
Do we know some Dutch girls? Wink
I met one once..... Grin

That question sounded só much sadder than it was supposed to!

 Tongue

Please, let's forget about the girls. This obsession is getting cringey.
NXT is better than that. If we put up clueless girls just for the sake of having a vagina then we will be rightfully labelled as a bunch of sexist fucktards who are stuck in the 1950s. Not a good look for the future of money.
These people are business minded, they want hard facts and new ideas, not dumb blondes with big tits.

Let's also always keep a sense of humor! Smiley

As promised, here is the pricelist for exhibitors at Bitcoin2014 in A'dam:

http://www.pdf-archive.com/2014/02/26/euros-bitcoin2014sponsorshipandexhibitoropportunities1/

Hosted with Pdf-Archive, hope it works OK for everyone.

Main Bitcoin2014 site:
http://bitcoin2014.com/

Looks to me like we want to take the €1500 'Contributing Sponsor' package or the €1100 'Exhibitor' package.

I would say the 1500 as it will give us sponsor status and that saves a lot of hassle.

What do others think?
776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 26, 2014, 03:31:05 PM

Working three full days for 34 Nxt.

Now THAT is dedication!  Cheesy
777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 26, 2014, 03:23:10 PM

If we need speakers, some more techy people should step forward. We have asked for them more than once, because most of us know we are limited in that, but so far none has come forward.

Ahem.   Smiley

Not aimed at you AT ALL! I really hope you don't think that.

I mean for all the other conferences. You were already slated for this one.

But let's face it: it's a fact we don't have enough people with the knowledge to field questions from smart people to answer them indepth.

I can hold a general stirring speech, but that would be just a lot of hot air as far as a technical audience is concerned and is a weak point for conferences.

Even joefox has already said he doesn't consider himself to be knowledgeable enough.

So, once again: please step up and help out. We shóuld have a technical expert at conferences! I know how scary it can be, but we NEED you people Smiley

It's also fun and there is grub to be had!

Just talked to bittrex, they have only 86 signups from nxt at the moment..

You should all go and sign up.

Quote
Go to https://bittrex.com/Account/Register and use SUPPORT_NXT as the invite code. This gets you past the invite code queue. Place some trades, enabled 2FA, or try any of our other features to help us stress the site before the final launch. If you find a bug, we're handing out bug bounties as well. Having a great exchange helps us but also helps the NXT community.

Done once more.  Smiley

I would sincerely like to have a brain in a jar with a card that says "kLee" at any stand, just bubbling away.
We could pretend to ask it questions and talk to it and laugh at it's (unheard) jokes.

Any eta on the second wave of investments?  Would definitely like to get in asap.

But I do agree that the next round of investments should only be relegated to members who registered before a certain date and have a minimum level posting activity...in order to ensure true, equal distribution and no ninja dupes/whales.   Please consider it.

+1, also eXo needs to get more Sr members involved, no use having a bunch of newbies who ask stupid questions constantly.

I get what you are probably trying to say, but

1) you cannot truly enforce this
2) usually in any group this marks the last phase before it collapses into factions and dies. Smiley

The feeling is known, but I would advise against it. Just don't engage with newer users if you don't like to.

Just appoint some members (I've always made my money doing this  Grin Wink) to do it.
