I'd watch your power consumption when increasing the voltage. remember watts = v^2/r so it is exponential. you can actually end up losing more than you gain in power costs per coin. If power isnt a concern(er cost) than go for it, otherwise I would get something like kill-a-watt and make sure it is actually worth it for you to over volt. personally my card power requirement goes up 50% for the 10% gain in mh and that isnt worth it for me. that's very important to note. many miners use inefficient OC settings. they think more hashes per sec = better. |

i'm doing about 2000 shares per kWh (only counting gpu consumption because the computer is on anyway). 1 kWh is 0.22€ ($0.31) here. you need about 31000 shares per coin, so 15.5kWh or 3.41€ (or $4.80). edit I'm running two miners with a power consumption of roughly 1300W, doing about 1.4BTC/day. 0.22€/kwh =
1.3kw * (24h / 1.4BTC) * 0.22€ =
4.90€/BTC =~ 6.90$/BTC
Germany definitely isn't the best place for mining...
with your 2500Mhash/s, you should be doing about 2100 shares per hour, or at 1.3kW 1625 shares per kWh. that's 4.16€ or $5.85. still not too great. 19kWh per btc is probably not the most efficient mining setup. did you increase the voltage on your 5830s? if yes, that's probably not efficient (in my case it's not), undo it. go with whatever clocks your stock voltage allows. |

Does phoenix miner allow the use of the -f flag? I'd like to try setting it to -f2. I tried to chuck it into my batch file earlier but it doesn't seem to like it.
what is -f supposed to do? if you want lesser aggression level, use AGGRESSION, can be set between 1 and 12 (afaik). |

btcguild had issues with stale shares on their german servers, too. that's why i've switched to btcmine. 4% -> 0.7%. pm me when you get low stales on btcguild so i can switch back. thanks |

Ich glaube ja, das eher die 'kleinen Miner' weiter minen werden, selbst wenn kein Profit mehr zu machen ist. Das sind Leute, deren Strom z.B. von Papi & Mami bezahlt wird, die das aus Idealismus mit viel Freizeiteinsatz tun oder die einfach nebenbei die GPU rechnen lassen, während man am PC arbeitet. Wo kein Kostendruck herrscht, kann in alle Ewigkeit gemined werden. Die 'Großen' hingegen haben Investitionen die sich amortisieren müssen. Rechtfertigen allein Stromkosten und Arbeitseinsatz den Betrieb nicht mehr, dann sitzt man auf einem Haufen Hardware der mit jeder Woche an Wert verliert. Ich z.B. will meine Hardware rechtzeitig auf ebay verscheuern, bevor die große Grafikkarten- und Mainboardschwemme die Preise drückt...
Ein gutes Beispiel an Idiotie. Ich bin gerade dabei zu ionestieren. Die ersten 3 Karten online, die nächsten 15 im Zulauf für 3 rigs. Dein Rechenfehler: * DU zahlst als Besipiel 100 euro für ne Karte,plus 20 EUR MwSt (ich runde mal). Ich zahle 80 - beim Distributor, und als Gewerbe kriege ich Mwst zurück. * DU zahlst 22 cents Strom incl MwSt. Ich zahle 6.5 cents ohne MwSt. Da ich geplant über 43 Ampere ziehe kriege ich Industriepreise, und DE muss ich mir nicht antun was Strompreise angeht. Btw., das ist der Tagespreis Nachts und am Wochenende ists es billiger. * DU hast 2-3 Karten in einem Rig (Ovehead für CPU, Mobo etc.) - ich baue gerade das erste Gehäuse von einer Sequenz die Später zwischen 6 und 12 (je nachdem ob wir 2 hintereinander kiegen) Karten mit 1-2 Computern betreiben (also 6 Graphikkarten pro Computer).. Selbst mit Overhead für Raummiete etc. stehe ich bei etwa 11 cents pro Kwh rechnerisch.... oder anders: die hälfte deiner Kosten. Die meisten kleinen Miner werden solange minen bis Papa feststellt dass die Stromrechnung von 80 auf 300 euro im Monat gestiegen ist. Dann knallts erstmal Und wenn nicht machen Sie da was - 10 euro am Tag? Netter versuch. Das IST ein Massengeschäft, zumindest wird es eines - die grossen freut es. Und lass uns gar nicth von FPGA rechnen... die vielleicht dieses jahr noch kommen. 70% fan at 61°C? i'd consider lowering the fanspeed. helps the durability of the fan as well as your ears. |

jo, wlp oder gehaeusebelueftung. letzteres sei bei luftkuehlung nich zu unterschaetzen. wenn 40° warme luft angesaugt wird, sind die komponenten halt mal gut 15° waermer als wenn sie mit frischluft versorgt werden.

You guys are wasting your money.
If you look at the thread on the 5870 in hardware you'll see if your going to buy a new rig this is one of the best cards you could get. I still don't believe mining is a waist especially if you take the time to calculate the best machines. I'd agree though that it's not worth it to build something like a 6990 rig. yes it is! tri-fire all the way. my 6950 is lonely. |

ich weiss nicht, ob es hilft. ich boote mit meiner amd karte, starte den miner und steck den monitor um auf meine nvidia karte. das laeuft problemlos ohne irgendwelche bildschirm-schwierigkeiten. habe 0 lag im desktop und kann sogar spiele spielen, waehrend die amd karte mit voller leistung hashes ausrechnet edit: so sieht das ganze dann grad bei mir aus (normalerweise sc im vollbildmodus, aber wollte hier noch die konsole einblenden):  |

Yu, probiert hätte ich das so wieso. Aber ich habe mal gekuckt. Falls das mit dem Dell nicht klappen sollte, werde ich auch nochmal 20-30€ für ein Netzteil aufbringen können. Zur Not.

effizientes minen mit nem P4 macht denke ich wenig sinn. mach dir doch ein schoenes sandybridge system zum surfen, hab ich vor wenigen wochen auch zusammengebaut. komme mit nem cougar A400 auf 25W verbrauch (idle). da waere theoretisch noch platz fuer ne grafikarte zum minen. ich weiss jetzt nur nicht, ob man die interne grafik vom sandybridge noch nutzen kann, wenn ne grafikkarte eingebaut ist (die karte, die zum minen benutzt wird, fuers surfen einzusetzen, bringt immer leistungsverlust.. bzw sehr ruckligen betrieb). kann das cougar nur empfehlen: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a543127.html |

Awful suggestion, get a 6950, used 5870, 5850, or two 5770s i'd sign this. 6950 is a good buy because you can unlock its shaders (search for a reference model). i'm seeing 411Mhash/s at the moment without any overvolting. works good at gaming, too (although i didn't play any games on my amd card yet) |

you have to look at stales, too. i've been getting about 4% stales on btcguild, but since i like its frontend the most, i sticked with it. now that it's being ddos'ed, i've switched back to btcmine to see my stales drop to 0.5%. i guess given all this i'll stay at btcmine. seems like larger server equals a lot higher stale rate. i love how they close registrations when they think their server can't handle any more miners. they don't seem to be too greedy.
