761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can you combine 3x6990 with 3x5870? on: February 11, 2014, 04:00:22 PM
Have got 2X 6990 and 3X 5870 working.

Though I cant seem to get my last 5870 to kick in, the mobo keeps rebooting.

If I assume you made a mistake here (total of 4x 5870) since in your OP you wrote you have 3x 6990 and 3x 5870, than what you wanted to type is:

Have got 3X 6990 and 2X 5870 working.

In that case, it makes sense: In Windows 7 64bit you can run up to 8 single GPUs and since the 6990 are dual GPUs and the 5870 are single GPUs, the total of GPUs you got to run is exactly 8 ( 6 for the 6990 and 2 for 5870).
Even if the opposite is true (you got 2x 6990 to work and 3x 5870) than the total still holds true: 7 GPUs with a spare 6990 which counts as 2 (thus can't work under win7).

Your only option is to either install Windows 8.1 or move to linux.

You know this is not a " I think " thingy as its a fact.  Cool You will learn while you experiment and really compile, build, test, code and alter the components on pc-industry.  Wink Just no offense Starscream but I only write something from I know for sure because I don't want to mislead people with "I think" thoughts.

When you're hobbying such things as electronics and atleast seem to know something even from electromigration so why don't you go and do it as a job? It pays pretty good for a diplomat-engineer spot on a bigger company. Wink Don't believe everything that has been written on wikipedia as many of the topics are straight from users opinions and not a fact. :DDDD

This is end from my behalf as I don't argue on facts.

Cheers.  Cool
Awesome. Don't spread misinformation next time and how about you leave my career to me, eh? Wink
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX 7990 overheating issue on: February 11, 2014, 01:42:33 PM
Yes it shortens Graphics cards lifespan as it is designed to run on a  right voltage amount. When you run a device with "wrong" values of settings that it is not used to run never makes it better. It shortens the lifetime of it and many other electrical devices. I've been managing electrical devices and computers for the last 20years as my living.  Wink

Cheers.  Cool
Funny, I have been working with electronic devices for 15 years now and undervolting doesn't shorten the life of a device, it prolongs it. Ever heard of electromigration? I guess you have if you're been in the business for 20 years.
More undervolt = less current = less degradation of the material.

A GPU is designed to run at a certain range of voltages, yes, but when you go under, nothing bad happens (the GPU will simply not work) or if you go above it, you'll just fry it.

And I just do it as a hobby  Wink
764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX 7990 overheating issue on: February 11, 2014, 01:11:24 PM
Remember that too much undervolting your GPU controller shorten significally much its lifetime.

But not with these minor changes like stated here.

Cheers.  Cool

Undervolting prolongs the lifespan of an electronic device. How the hell did you come up with it shortening its lifespan???
765  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Whats the best way to withdraw USD from BTC-E in the UK? on: February 11, 2014, 09:18:44 AM
Hi guys,

Long time speculator here, first time posting!

I purchased bitcoin on localbitcoins.com and after seeing a downtrend recently I decided to quickly sell my coins on btc-e and get into fiat. Now I have USD sitting in btc-e that I would like to withdraw to a GBP UK bank account in the cheapest, fastest and most reliable way. Does anyone have experience doing this? MT.GOX withdrawal seems out of the question after recent press.....I would like to know:

Can I withdraw directly from btc-e to UK bank account? if so what are the costs?

Would I be better off buying BTC with USD on btc-e and then sending BTC to localbitcoins.com to sell for GBP there? (this seems risky with current market fluctuation as selling on Localbitcoins.com can take hours!)

Would I be better off buying BTC with USD on btc-e and sending to another exchange...eg Bitstamp? I have just setup and account but my verification is pending (how long does this currently take?)

Buying BTC with USD and sending to another exchange? any suggestions?

Also whats currently the best exchange for buying BTC in UK at the moment (depositing GBP fiat funds)

Many thanks! Much appreciation!
I use ONLY SEPA withdraws. Im in EU and withdraw euro.

Really? They have absurd fees for low withdrawals (under 10k euro). 1% fee with a minimum of 100euro.
766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2x Gigabyte R9 290, issues on both on: February 11, 2014, 08:41:30 AM
What miner are you using and what's your config like?

CGMiner 3.7.2 on windows 7.

I've been mostly trying with a default intensity 13,gputhreads 2 and some other default stuff.

(New to cgminer so don't know the names by heart)
R9 290 works with -g 1, which also means -i 18+ and TC higher than 20k

Try these:

-g 1 -i 19 --thread-concurrency 20481

I tried something similar at one point with my first gpu and even with a lower threadconcurrency but the degrees would almost hit 100.
The second one doesn't go higher than 65 degrees, 50% fan and 370kh/s. Have no idea why.

You can and should undervolt them and that should help improve your temperature.
Also, what's your clock speeds at? (gpu/mem)
Can you paste your full cfg file?

Wow. wipeout your config alterations are getting 750kh.
"gpu-fan" : "60-100",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"temp-target" : "68",
"temp-overheat" : "72",
"temp-cutoff" : "75",
"worksize" : "256",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"gpu-engine" : "1050",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"intensity" : "19",
"thread-concurrency" : "24000",

I'll try the 2 threads version in a bit but am currently and excitedly testing the longterm stability of this config. Thanks!

Keep playing with your config, because you can definitely reach 850KH/s easy.
770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC poor hashrate problems on: February 11, 2014, 04:01:09 AM
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"intensity" : "13",
"thread-concurrency" : "8192",

Interesting. Have you got your R9 290 (if you have) to work with 2 gpu threads? When I tested mine (identical settings) I'd get each thread to work at around 250KH/s only.

It's working great with -g 1 (850WU~) and I'm not complaining, but just curious, because -g 2 should be more effective than -g 1.
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is CPU Cloud Mining worth it? on: February 11, 2014, 03:46:49 AM
So what's the trick of knowing the right coin and time?

Where do I have to look to find out? Thanks for any tip about it.

Cloud mining is a waste of time and you won't mine with profit.

If you mine under the presumption that a certain coin will increase in value over a period of time (and thus you mine with a lose) and once it does only then you'll be profitable, than you should simply buy it.

"thread-concurrency" : "32766"

win 7 home premium

Asus gpu tweak settings
GPU clock 1080
GPU voltage 1300
memclock 6220
power target 135%

This DirectCU II model has been a nightmare to get 650 h/s out of.
Thanks for your help, i'm stumped Huh.

How did you come up with your TC number? It should be shaders*n + 1. Your number of shaders is 2560 so try various multipliers of this number + 1.
Also, restore your clocks speeds to default. Obviously, if you're getting bad results there's no point using them.
You just gotta spend time playing with your settings, there's no other way. If you're looking for a shortcut you won't get optimal settings.

First thing I would suggest for you is to do is to restore your clocks to stock settings, i.e. 947/1250 if you got the reference card or 1000/1300 if you got the tri-x version.
After that, try with TC of 20481 and see if it works.
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 LTC Reward ASRock H81M no Ethernet Drivers on: February 10, 2014, 04:05:38 PM
Its this one:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81M/index.de.asp

I have not installed anything so far. I have red about that alx stuff too. On the official Smos website. I have no Idea how to install those drivers though.

Are there other plug and play mining ditros that I may check?

http://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/H81M/index.asp?cat=Download  - at the bottom of this page are links for drivers and utilities (you don't need to install any utility - but you do need the drivers), just select your OS and download it.

As for your question, try BAMT, it's a linux based OS that's basically plug and play and designed specifically for mining, it also boots from a USB stick, so you can easily try it out even if you have windows installed already.

Here's a link to BAMT: http://guiminer.net/bamt

This is a link to SMOS, which is similar to BAMT but has some bugs fixed: http://www.smos-linux.org/installation/
775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 LTC Reward ASRock H81M no Ethernet Drivers on: February 10, 2014, 03:14:56 PM
Hey guys, I need some urgent help with my ASRock H81M which I can't connect via Ethernet.

If I connect the miner to a monitor and work from the desktop the lower right corner says: "No Ethernet Connection Available", Cable Router ect. are definitely okay, as the cable works just fine if I plug it into one of my other miners.

If someon can help me adding the correct drivers (I have no knowelege in Linux whatsover) I will pay a reward of 1 Litecoin!.

Did you install motherboard drivers... ? Specifically the LAN drivers.
776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 - Thread Concurrency! Cant get it up. Tried everything. on: February 10, 2014, 03:04:03 PM
When you start your miner, does it say something along the lines of "SUCCESS: SAVED setx GPU_MAX_...?

If it's to fast for you to see, just add timeout /t 5 to your bin file before the cgminer.exe.

Also, try using SGminer.
777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Optimal R9 290 Settings?? on: February 10, 2014, 12:41:49 PM
You can up the fan speed to 85%, but don't go above that.
Why?
To prolong its life.

You mean the life of the fans? (It would at least prolong the life of the card if it's cooler.)

Yeah, the life of the fan.
778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asrock H81 BTC Pro Board with Gigabyte R9 280x *********0.1BTC BOUNTY on: February 10, 2014, 01:31:45 AM
What PSU do you have?

Also, you wrote in your config that you linked "-g2" - should be "-g 2" (with space).

Usually a system reset is occurring because the computer is trying to protect itself.
779  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGWatcher 1.3.5, the GUI/monitor for CGMiner and BFGMiner to prevent downtime on: February 09, 2014, 11:33:16 PM
Maybe it has been asked, and in that case I'm sorry for the double question, anyway, my question:

Is there a way, similar to how the "restart 'miner/computer' if hashrate falls below 'xxxx'" to have the miner/pc restart if the work utility falls below a certain threshold? I had a case right now where my WU dropped significantly while my KH/s stayed the same. Had to restart SGminer to resolve this, but still, would be nice if CGWatcher had the option to exclusively monitor WU - it is the major factor that counts after all.
780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Optimal R9 290 Settings?? on: February 09, 2014, 10:52:56 PM
No, I don't think you can undervolt the 290's. Im getting 880-890 per card. Also what is WU?
I undervolted mine. WU is Work Utility, it's what counts really. KH/s is nothing if you're getting low WU.

How do you undervolt with a r9 290? My card has locked voltages. Personally I try to keep the temp just below 80, and I run with engine clock at 980 and memory clock at the stock 1250 (upping memory clock doesn't do much for me). Hashrate is at 865-870kh/s which I am satisfied with. Smiley
I undervolted using MSI Afterburner, mine weren't voltage locked.

You can up the fan speed to 85%, but don't go above that.

Why?
To prolong its life.
