One thing that I have noticed is that all of the top-5 Bangladeshi batsmen made it to double figures. Apart from Litton Das, others like Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto also made significant contributions with the bat. On the other hand, two of the top-5 New Zealand batsmen got out for duck and another one got out for just 1 run. The top-5 made just 34 runs combined. It was the middle and lower order batsmen such as James Neesham, Mitchell Santner and Adam Milne who took them to a decent total in the end.

Now 20/4
New Zealand's usual batting disaster. In the beginning, 3 wickets fell for 1 run. We never imagined that the beginning of Bangladesh would be so amazing. Winning the toss and taking Bangladesh's fielding instead of batting was really logical. But Daryl Mitchell has been out with the highest 14 runs so far. Bangladesh's bowling department is truly outstanding and New Zealand will most likely be all out before 120 runs today.

Can't play spin.. can't play pace. This is the condition of New Zealand batsmen as of now. Anyway, now Mark Chapman and James Neesham are trying to build some sort of a partnership and they have crawled to 41/4. New Zealand should be happy if they can get to three digits. It is surprising, given the fact that I didn't found anything special in the pitch. Looks like a good batting track. Mahedi Hasan has picked up 2 wickets till now with his off-spin, and he still has one over remaining. Other two wickets were picked up by Shoriful Islam.

Have virtually no hope from the PCB, at the same i have full confidence that they will blow every good opportunity.

The thing is PCB is full of braindead individuals be it Rambo who was blabbing about "Blank check" or the new guy Zaka Ashraf who triggered a fair amount of people with the "Dushman Mulk" remark. FFS you are head of PCB, you can't be that unprofessional and play for the gallery when sitting at the top. In contrast look at BCCI, they might be corrupt af but they never say things like that or even react to these antics and give random interviews. They are all about business, that's it.

Agreed. BCCI is not even bothered about anyone else (including the PCB). They just want to maximize their revenue as much as possible. And the guys in power, be it Jay Shah or Anurag Thakur have done a great job in this regard. If PCB focus more on the PSL and media rights, then they would be in a much better position. Instead they are spending all of their energy in trivial things. Kicking out all the politicians from the PCB and handing over responsibility to ex-players may do the trick in my opinion. BTW, what is the qualification of Zaka Ashraf? Has he ever represented the national team?

@Sithara007 isn’t it strange that 6 months before a T20 World Cup New Zealand are yet experimenting with their T20 team because in my personal opinion they should have selected their best 11 so they could have enough match practise heading into the T20 World Cup. Also coming back to this fixture I yet would favour New Zealand to win because Bangladesh doesn’t deliver results consistently and hence it may not be surprising to see if they end up losing this game.

I guess this is expected. 6 months are remaining and they want to give chances to a few of their youngsters to find whether anyone deserves a chance in the world cup squad. Anyway, they are now 3/3 after 2.2 overs. Shoriful Islam picked up two wickets in quick succession and three if their best batsmen are now back in pavilion (Finn Allen, Tim Seifert and Glenn Phillips). Remember that this is a home match for New Zealand. If they perform like this, then I don't think that they have a good chance to win the world cup next year.

I am not sure whether Pakistan will be able to make a 200 plus total. They are at 151/5, and just now Saud Shakeel was cleaned up by Josh Hazlewood. Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman are at the crease now and after them it is going to be Hasan Ali and Aamer Jamal. This time the bowlers did their job for Pakistan, but the batsmen are continuing with their poor form. Most surprising thing is that Nathan Lyon has picked up two of the wickets. I thought that this track didn't had much for the slower bowlers.
766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 27, 2023, 03:09:01 AM
It was a good outing for the bowlers but jeez 50+ extra runs?

The scoreline could've been 280-290 if they were a bit careful with those extras. In the first inning, extras made the second highest mode of runs for Australia, hope that doesn't come back to haunt Pakistan. That's where subcontinent bowlers always get carried away with the extra bounce and pace.

Apart from the extras, there were some dropped catches as well. Anything below 300 would have given a psychological advantage for Pakistan. When they got Mitchell Starc out, the score was 275/7. And it was 286/8 when Mitchell Marsh got out. But then the tailenders (Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood) added valuable runs and took them to 318. So far Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq have started well against Starc/Hazlewood/Cummins. By the end of today's play we will get an idea about who is having the upper hand in this match.

Compensation drama would be some fun for bystanders and it will surely provide some meme content so i am in for this scenario and will grab my popcorn lol

The last time PCB followed the compensation narrative, it blew back in their face and they ended up wasting millions only to lose a case and had to pay for all BCCI's expenses. Having said that, this time they might have some case because it's an ICC tournament but they have to play their cards right.

Last time they went through the legal route, rather than taking it up with the ICC privately. I guess this time they will be more intelligent. Anyway, PCB should not forget the fact that from next year onwards, their annual allocation from the ICC will increase from $16 million to $34.51 million. This huge boost is mostly due to the media rights sale for Indian region. IMO, the best possible option for PCB would be to follow a non-confrontational approach and get the best deal from the ICC. Zaka Ashraf needs to put some effort in this regard.
768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women's Cricket Prediction & Discussion - T20 & ODI on: December 27, 2023, 02:27:28 AM
Bangladeshi Women's International cricket team can't face South African Women International cricket team. South African cricket team played very well and they gave an excellent target of 317 runs. Especially, Tazmin Brits played very well in this match and she made a century for his country and that's why South African Women cricket team won easily. Wolvaardt also made century for his country and she made 126 runs in 134 balls.Kapp made an excellent bowling and she took 2 Wickets by giving only 21 runs and Khala took 3 wickets by giving 15 runs in 6 overs.

I wonder why the transformation targets are not strictly implemented for the South African women's national team, unlike the case with the men's team. In men's team, they have players such as Temba Bavuma and Andile Phehlukwayo who are there just to make up the numbers. If they do the same with the women's team then it will also get destroyed. For now, South Africa is one of the toughest sides in women's cricket. But their form has been slowly declining for the last 1-2 years. If CSA comes up with some stupid racial policy, then the situation will get even worse.
769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 27, 2023, 02:07:00 AM
@Sithara007 I don’t see why ICC will change these rules because for them natives player’s are not that important having more teams is and currently I don’t even remember reading any major country raising any objections on this rule. Lastly this rule can only be changed if one of the big 4 demands it be changed but until then I highly doubt that ICC will ever change this rule.

It's not like everyone is happy with the eligibility criteria. Teams such as Nepal, Papua New Guinea and Namibia have complained about it. But they have limited say in matters of ICC, as the associate representatives are also BCCI proxies. ICC wants to give a picture that cricket is being played across 100+ countries. But in reality only 30-40 countries have native players in their squads, and the vast majority of them are in Africa. Most of the European, GCC and American teams are entirely comprised of foreigners.

The New Zealand squad contains only a few familiar names. Apart from Adam Milne, Mitchell Santner, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham and Tim Southee, most of the players are inexperienced. This series will be a good opportunity for players such as Jacob Duffy and Ben Sears to cement their place in the national squad. Both the teams may treat this series as preparation for the T20 World Cup, which will start in around 6 months from now. Anyway, the match will be played at McLean Park in Napier in around 4 hours from now. It will be streamed live on Amazon Primevideo (for those in India).

Australia all out for 318, with the last wicket being picked up by Hasan Ali. I would say that Pakistan has a slight advantage here, and if they can get to first innings lead, then there is a good chance that they will end up winning this match. Their strategy of going out with 4 seamers (Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mir Hamza, Hasan Ali and Aamer Jamal) worked well this time. Only Hasan Ali looked out of form (although he managed to pick up 2 wickets). Aamer Jamal was impressive once again and picked up 3 wickets, after nabbing 7 wickets in the first test.
772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 26, 2023, 11:07:00 AM
The 4th wicket partnership is already worth 67 runs. And more importantly these two (Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli) are scoring runs at a brisk pace. Nandre Burger have been outstanding so far, but other bowlers need to step in and pick a few wickets. And for India, they went to this match with 5 bowlers. That means that if they lose two more wickets, then the tail starts with Ravichandran Ashwin. And they have 3 genuine tailenders in Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj. I don't expect these three to add a lot of runs.
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: December 26, 2023, 10:46:05 AM
The reason for Brazil's recent bad performance is their coaching panel. They just can’t seem to be guiding their team on the right path. In the 2014 World Cup, they had a humiliating defeat in the semi finals against Germany on their own home soil. I thought that in that World Cup they would have completed their Hexa. But both in 2018 or 2022 they have failed to go further than Quarter Finals losing against not so strong teams.

There are rumors that Ancelotti would be coming to Brazil at the end of the season which I think would be a good thing for the Brazil National team. He is a coach who can bring the best out of the team he has been given. If he can do as he is expected, they can probably get back on their winning days.

I am not sure what impact the new coach will have on the performance of the Brazilian national team. Their poor performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and also during the CONMEBOL World Cup qualification tournament so far can be attributed to imbalance in the team and overdependence on certain players. Even if Carlo Ancelotti becomes the coach, what he can do about it? And the recent injury issue with Neymar also contributed a lot to their poor form. These are things beyond Ancelotti's control.

That is also a reason why the problem of playing a lot of foreign players is never going to be fixed because a lot of teams that are very close to the ICC and also bring the ICC a good amount of money have a lot of players that are foreigners.  They are basically playing whoever they want. Maybe at first they thought it would be actually an expansion of the game. But now we can see that it is not working. But even though it is not working ICC is actually not going to do anything because as you said those teams are actually the ‘blue eyed man’.

Exactly. Current eligibility laws for international cricket are ridiculous and exists in no other sport. As of now, it is possible to create a "national" team from 11 foreign players. And right now, almost two-thirds of all the member nations of ICC have "national" teams entirely comprised of foreigners. And this stupid eligibility rules were tailor made to help teams like the United Arab Emirates. If only natives are allowed to participate in international matches, then the GCC nations such as UAE and Oman will not have a national team.

India is slowly recovering, thanks to the partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli. South Africa went with an all seam attack (Gerald Coetzee, Kagiso Rabada, Nandre Burger and Marco Jansen). This was the right thing to do and the strategy was validated when they got India at 24/3. Good news for the Indian pacers is that the pitch at SuperSport Park in Centurion seems to be offering a lot of support for pace bowling. Prasidh Krishna is making his test debut today, while Nandre Burger and David Bedingham are debuting from the other side. And also, we have Keegan Petersen playing his first test after almost one year interval.

Amazing performance by Philippines won this match by 7 wickets and won the series by 4-2. Philippines chase down this easy target 124 runs in loss of just 3 wickets in 12.1 overs. Kulwinderjit Singh and Henry Tyler scored 38 rins in 17 balls both played good inning and win match for his team easly. From Indonesia onlu Ketut Edi Guna Artawan show fight against Philippines picked 3 important wicktes by giving 18 runs only. The Player of the Match is Kulwinderjit Singh from Philippines for his amazing batting performances scored 46 runs in just 16 balls, unfortunately missed his fastes fifty by 4 runs short.

It is not a fair battle. Philippines had several players from test nations such as India and Pakistan, who had earlier played either first-class or club cricket in their respective countries. On the other hand, Indonesia had homegrown players, with no such exposure. So players such as Kulwinderjit Singh were able to score easily against the inexperienced bowlers from Indonesia. But all that said, Indonesia should be proud of the fact that they managed to win two of the matches. They are on an upward trajectory, and we will hear a lot more about them in the coming years.
777  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: December 26, 2023, 07:43:08 AM
It’s true opinion from your side,I had really appreciated it.Because the economy of the China is not the imaginable one to the India.Even though the population of both the country was almost equal and in future India may overtake China. But the government of China using their people as their power to lead their economy.India people also had huge potential,in many countries the top position in the government was owned by the Indian Origin. But many Indian inventions was not recognised by their own country government. As I had seen many documentary related to this issue. But still Indian government was not ready to change their policies and political influence in the scheme which only favoured the other country corporate. The politicians should changed for this significant change in Indian economy.

Brain drain is a major issue faced by India. As a result of affirmative action policies everywhere, those who belong to the unreserved classes migrate to western nations at the first available chance. Now even the reserved category people have started emigrating abroad. And all this is having a negative impact on sectors such as healthcare and education. But rather than phasing out such policies, the government has been increasing the quota year after year. At present, it is 75%, and very soon it will become 100%.
778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: December 26, 2023, 07:16:20 AM
It seems we are going to see Saudi teams start raiding the top European teams and buying more players from these teams with the huge money they usually offer.
During last summer many players joined these teams but there is a limit for the Saudis and they can only use eight foreign players in their teams.
Now according to the news from the Telegraph, they want to increase the number of foreign players to ten.

This is excellent news. Rising the limit from 8 to 10 is a welcome step. When European teams were getting players from all around the world, no one was complaining about it. But now, when the Saudis are doing the same the European media is going ballistic. In the end, I believe that Saudi Professional League is beneficial not just for the players, but also for global football. By taking a number of players away from the European leagues, they are creating more opportunities for younger players in Europe.
779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 26, 2023, 06:48:42 AM
After the impressive performance in World Cup I was feeling now things are going positive for them, and they are going to have good future in white-ball game but their policies and handling of their players like this now creating other level with most chances we can have another West Indies type model cricket here where mostly players will go against their own board and try their all luck and energy for the Franchise cricket which is surely going to have better future for them in all ways.

Even these all are too early but now with this first drop from Afghanistan Cricket Board now my mind-set is completely changed about their future in this game, and we have to wait for the more reaction how others will go with this punishment for their fellow players and what will be consequences happen for both parties.

They need to admit the reality of international cricket. Nowadays players get a lion's share of their salary from franchise T20 leagues. Smaller boards such as the ACB and WICB can't compete with global leagues, which are owned by billionaires. There should be a balance between the two. But here, ACB's approach is wrong. They should not go into confrontational mode. Whatever they are getting is due to the players. If the players just retire, then in all probability they will lose the full member status as well.

Now once again, in terms of odds Trump has pulled ahead of Biden. This is surprising after all the recent drama. Trump was removed from the ballot in Colorado, and still he has an upper hand over Biden. No new polls have been released during the last 5-6 days, due to the ongoing holiday season. As per RCP, Trump as of now has a lead of +2.8%. And this is the widest lead he had in the last 12 months. Biden needs to do something about the border situation. Else it is going to be a horrible year for him and the Democrats in 2024.
