761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally Bitcoin Devolpers planning to kill Ordinals and Inscription on: December 09, 2023, 04:30:32 PM
The exploit Ordinals Attackers are using is not related to OP_RETURN and if it did we would have never had this problem to begin with because:
- OP_RETURN is part of the protocol that everyone has agreed with. Ordinals is not part of the protocol and only scammers like it.
- using OP_RETURN is not an "exploit" while what they call Ordinals is using an exploit in the protocol, an oversight by the developers introducing SegWit
- most importantly OP_RETURN has a limit on how much arbitrary data you can push to the chain while the exploit Ordinals attack is using has virtually no limit
- even more importantly OP_RETURN does not create UTXO bloat since said outputs are provably unspendeable while Ordinals attack will create dust outputs that can not be spent nor be pruned.

You're missing the point here. We were talking about the rationale as to why Luke is rejecting txs with OP_RETURNs beyond 42 bytes. Its because he thinks such transactions are spam. Obviously he didn't agree with the current byte limit which is why he implemented his own.

Regardless, its hard to take you seriously when you continue to mischaracterize Ordinals as an "attack". Its like you don't understand what the word "attack" means and it doesn't help your argument. Ordinals users are not trying to damage Bitcoin, they are simply trying to profit off it. And saying "only scammers like it" is just ignorant. A more appropriate term would be "degens".

In the future, the first inscriptions will be considered legitimate collector's items, like it or not. It could even be the first 10,000 - 100,000 or so.

Removing ordinals from Bitcoin is a necessary step.

You can't "remove ordinals from bitcoin". Its just a numeration system for satoshis, so in a way they've always been there since the first mined block. As for the rest of your post, holy moly, that's all I have to say.

This is still quite funny to me.

Theymos can create a topic about it on the Reputation board, if he cares.

Whoever did it for him must have gotten the idea from this thread.
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Shitcoin 3.0 - First Parody Token on the First Parody Blockchain! on: December 09, 2023, 11:33:43 AM
Ha! You sneaky fuck. I'd rather have 3 Dogecoin than 100 Shitcoin thank you.   Wink Cheesy

Ah but what about 10,000 Shitcoin for 300 DOGE? What about now huh? See what I'm saying??

Shitcoin 3.0 is the Holiest of Shitcoins. It harkens back to a simpler era, when men were men, dogs were dogs, and cats were cats.

Legend has it there is a lost book of the Old Testament which depicts Moses listening to the divine oration of a Grand Shitcoin, perched upon a great mountaintop. The Grand Shitcoin warned Moses about the folly of man, how man would underestimate the true power of Shitcoin. Then it told him how to get out of the desert. The exact quote as legend has it was, "Take thine left at Albuquerque."

Outside of limiting taproot script length (which could have its own follies we as non-devs haven't considered), anyone who believes the "spam" can be stopped by fine tuning or placing certain limitations within Core is sorely mistaken. The exact same argument was happening around the launch of Counterparty in early 2014, and the Counterparty devs told the Bitcoin devs, fine, do what you want, we will find ways around it. There's a number of different ways to add arbitrary data to transactions, and there always will be.

Basically Luke-Jr is saying we should have a model of explicit whitelisting where people ask permission first to use Bitcoin. Right now that wouldn't be one patch, it'd be two patches: Counterparty and Mastercoin. Very soon it'll be three patches as Colored Coins adds decentralized exchange functionality, and probably soon after that four patches when Zerocoin is deployed, five once the guys doing secure multiparty computation with Bitcoin release their software, six for... You get the idea. On top of that from technical perspective writing a general purpose patch to distinguish even just Counterparty transactions from "spam" is impossible without having access to the Counterparty consensus state. Sorry guys, but Luke is either foolish or trolling you.

Some things never change...

In this case, the majority is clearly AGAINST monkey pics, only retarded token creators/buyers support them. And miners, for obvious reasons.  Grin

It hasn't been about monkey pics for months. 99% of ordinals transactions are for BRC-20 tokens, soon to be 99.9%.

If by collateral damage you mean the tweet you shared in your other post[1], I can't tell how that is related to preventing the Ordinals spam by patching the exploit because it seems like a mining pool refused to mine a CoinJoin transaction which is an entirely different discussion specially since they are arguing over the weird limit their pool sets on OP_RETURN which is another unrelated matter here!!!

Its 100% related. Luke's Bitcoin Knots lowered its limit on OP_RETURN in order to ignore transactions he considers "spam", which is what you think ordinals transactions are, so what's the difference?

Not that his efforts will matter much in the long run. For starters, its economically inefficient to ignore transactions with high fees. It will zap the incentive out of the majority of miners, so his pool will never get very big. But lets say for whatever reason his mining pool becomes bigger and mines 1 out of every 10 blocks. That means Ordinals, Counterparty, Omni, etc. user will have to wait 1 minute extra on average for their transactions to be confirmed.

Not really a big deal.
767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can NFTs last forever? on: December 09, 2023, 06:05:22 AM
I have collected over 2,000 assets so far (bought or droped) and haven't sold a single one yet! I don't know if I will ever need to sell, however for now I enjoy my collection and the joy of exchanging my dublicates to enrich. This is the philosophy of a true collector. The collector will pay dearly for a nft that he likes and absolutely wants! He will make many trips to find, e.g. a painting or a piece of art to acquire. Not everyone can understand this.

I think you're spot on here. Much as cryptocurrency is to money, NFTs are a digital version of a physical thing -- in this case, mostly collectibles. But they can be used for so much more: as tickets to events, access to special Discord servers or websites, game items (characters, skins, resources, etc.), and can be redeemable for physical goods.

The only problem is that nfts are still unknown to most of the world, but when cryptocurrencies spread and prevail on the planet, then nfts will also experience glory days. Today about 1% of the world's population is involved in cryptocurrencies. Can we imagine what will happen when 50% is engaged?

I'm also of this philosophy as the world is definitely headed in a digital direction. Much of our lives are transforming from physical to digital... its just part of the course of technological evolution. In this thread I outline the rationale behind the "Historical NFT" movement, where people are now into collecting old tokens and various blockchain knick-knacks on different chains, much as collectors like old, rare, scarce sports cards:

The Historical NFT Speculation & Appreciation Thread

Some of these early NFTs, like CryptoPunks & Rare Pepes, regularly go for hundreds of thousands of dollars. But there's still a lot of interesting old stuff out there that is cheap and have yet to really be unearthed by the next generation of collectors, which is inevitably on its way.
768  Other / Meta / Re: BCT vs BTT abbreviation for this forum on: December 09, 2023, 04:50:33 AM
BCT = BitCoinTalk
BTT = BiTcoinTalk

It's pretty obvious that the first one makes a lot more sense, right?

It does to me, but I've seen the second one used perhaps more than the first.

How about this one?

BIT - Bitcointalk

Or maybe even:

BCF - since this is actually the Bitcoin Forum

Bitcointalk is just in reference to the name of the domain and not the forum itself.

In any case I voted for WO  Cheesy

For the first time since Week 5 I'm actually pretty happy about my lineup. But I won't go into depth about it lest I jinx myself.

Its been all downhill for me since this post. I've been on a freakin' 4-game losing streak, and I'll likely lose this next game as well -- not that it matters anymore. I truly did jinx myself.

In any case, getting away from that whole fiasco, we have some exciting games still yet to take place through the rest of the season. Who had Texans on their NFL Bingo Card as possible playoff contenders this year?

For a playoff picture, I'd like to see Dolphins vs. Chiefs in the AFC and Eagles vs. 49ers in the NFC.
770  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: stole be careful on: December 09, 2023, 04:00:06 AM
Hello, so sorry you have this impression about our service.
The users' funds are untouched in the accounts throughout the verification procedure. We would like to highlight that we never intend to take advantage of our users' funds. As for the case resolution speed, it depends on the users' cooperation. Typically, it takes a couple of days after providing all the requested details.

The impression many forum users have of your service is well-earned. As a wallet, you have no right to block peoples' access from their funds. Imagine I buy a real, old-fashioned wallet, put some dollar bills in there, and then the wallet asks me to prove I'm me before I'm allowed to spend the dollars! It's an utterly ridiculous concept that you should be able with-hold funds from people unfortunate enough to make the mistake of downloading your "wallet".
771  Economy / Reputation / Re: Nutildah's bounty cheaters & ban evaders thread on: December 08, 2023, 03:10:04 PM
Why this may have happened?:
I already told that I was new and didn't read any rules about forum and bounties. like do not edit the post, etc, etc.
so for quickly do it like a shortcut, I copied that scammer's post somewhere And posted in my post, then after finding out that I have posted another twitter link then I replaced it.

I don't want to be unreasonable. I'm just having a hard time understanding where you might have copied it from. Every time Shohag.btc put his twitter profile link in an application, it had "?s=09" added to the end of it, like this:

...
Your Twitter Account Name: @Sohag42896134
Your Twitter Profile Link: https://twitter.com/Sohag42896134?s=09
...

Every single time he did that. Yet you didn't for some reason.

Shohag.btc did apply in the bounty two days earlier than you, but he didn't include his Twitter profile, yet you did. Let's compare the applications:

They are not very similar. You included a couple extra lines that he didn't. I'm just trying to understand why you would bother to find this guy's Twitter, remove the "?s=09" part, and then after lovesmayfamilis pointed it out to you, you changed it to a Twitter profile that seems to have never existed...

I respect your investigations, but these two accounts are posting in different local sections. Although India and Bangladesh are neighboring countries, as Wikipedia shows, both languages can understand each other.

Although cafter also writes in English in the Indian section.  Smiley

Yes its true he doesn't fit the mold of the accounts in the bounty farm, although he didn't start posting in the India section until a couple weeks after he posted the bounty application.

Alright well since this is the only connection I can find for now, and the transactions in cafter's BSC address are in no way connected to the bounty farm, I will remove the rating.

is it happened to your sometime when you were newbie?

OP, are you sure you have one account on this forum? I found some matches with another account. You tried to sign up for a bounty, and your Twitter account tells me that there is another account that also owns this contact.

After realizing he had been caught, cafter deleted the Twitter URL from his application, replacing it with a fictitious one that never existed. I know its not a case of just mistakenly posting somebody else's credentials, because while Shohag.btc applied for the bounty, he didn't post his Twitter URL in his application.

It is therefore logical to conclude that cafter is Shohag.btc, who also owns a huge alt farm that must be 30+ accounts by this point. I'm tagging all the accounts that haven't been tagged yet, and am awaiting one hell of a creative explanation as to why I'm wrong.
773  Economy / Services / Re: Bounty Cleanup & Alt Detection Service on: December 08, 2023, 06:23:54 AM

I have finished going through all the participants in both bounties. It took me longer than expected as I using this as practice to hammer out my methodology.

While there are at least 3 participants that have (or had) alt accounts, they are not in the same campaigns together.

Two of these accounts likely deserve negative tags. I am going through them thoroughly and will start a thread for them in Reputation if its warranted. Will update this post with links to the threads when its finished.
774  Other / Meta / Re: [Question] What Areas are lacking in the forum? on: December 07, 2023, 05:46:24 AM
what do you all think about finding areas that are not really doing good and act on it. also give opinion on how you think new members can rather help in the forum.

Well, for starters they should stop creating alt accounts by the dozen. Instead, they should focus on writing quality posts from their main account. Focus on actually learning something so they can actually contribute something of substance. And maybe even improve their financial situation in ways outside of sig campaign earnings. But they won't do it, because they can get away with writing shitposts from 2-4 different accounts and get paid for them. What they don't realize is that the earning potential from one high rank account is worth more than 4-20 low rank accounts, but they don't care; they came here for the easy money, not to work hard or smart.

There are too many old high-ranking users with enormous powers on the forum who do not fulfill their duties and do not give a growth to newbies

What "duties" are you talking about per se? Last I recall none of us are getting paid for "forum duties" outside of staff. Perhaps we aren't as inclined to "give a growth" to newbies because most of them are not actually newbies and we know that. Have you ever considered that?

775  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HitBTC - Dogecoin withdrawals on: December 07, 2023, 05:27:39 AM
Every time DOGE goes up in price, something like this happens. HitBTC has been considered untrustworthy for quite a while now; I also don't know how they manage to stay afloat & haven't gone bankrupt already (I guess just through sheer theft of coins).

After almost three years of doge withdrawals locked on this "exchange" I think we can say this is one of the longest ongoing scams in the crypto industry. Unfortunately I have many DOGE locked there because of greed as in the very day they locked the wallet there was a good arbitrage opportunity. Now the price is almost 1/10 of the real price and those doge are surely lost.

Yeah that's a bummer. They want you to sell your coins (that they don't have) at a deep discount while at the same time are attempting to trick others into depositing to take advantage of the supposed arbitrage opportunity, which doesn't really exist. Sucks.

For the last few years I have been projecting very negative energy, hoping for a return!

Me too Vod. It would be great to have the old Vod back. A lot of us in the early (early-ish) days looked up to you as a force for doing what's right. You've accumulated a lot of wisdom and experience over the years and could easily return to a position of being able to share it with others.

Forget THC, I'd like just 1g of negative energy (worth $62.5 trillion dollars according to Google).

Sounds like its really potent stuff!
777  Other / Meta / Re: Letter to Theymos: Provide medium for the forum in the face of the mixer ban on: December 07, 2023, 01:41:53 AM
1. Provide a reasoned response as to why the community can not have this board despite clear consensus that this is what the community wants.

2. Add the Cyber security and Privacy board in the Other category of the forum:

Although I don't think such a board would be a totally unreasonable idea, putting demands on theymos has traditionally not yielded fruitful results. I don't think the decision to ban mixers was taken lightly. He puts a lot of consideration into making these types of decisions before announcing them.

In my opinion, this Loycev is very arrogant. Sounds very arrogant.

You will receive back the energy you project into the world.
778  Economy / Services / Re: Bounty Cleanup & Alt Detection Service on: December 07, 2023, 01:20:28 AM

Thanks for being my first customer. I will get back to you within 24 hours or so.

How do you hope to identify the honest members from the cheats using solely BTC transactions?

Linking members with just BTC transactions isn't necessarily sufficient. It depends on a few things regarding the nature of the transactions.

I assume that the OP won't even accept payment in some trash token.

I would, actually. 50% of whatever token the cheating bounty hunter would have received.
779  Economy / Services / Re: Bounty Cleanup & Alt Detection Service on: December 06, 2023, 04:01:55 PM
These are fair questions:

a. If you find rule breakers, you will get 50% of the weekly payment. What if you don't find any?

This option is meant to be for bounties -- when I was crafting the OP I mistakenly left "signature campaign" there, although I also wrote "This option is reserved for bounties that are at least halfway concluded." Because its my error, I will be happy to do your sig campaigns under Option 1, and if I don't find anyone breaking the campaign rules then there is no charge.

To clarify: for bounties, it would be 50% of their payment earned up to that point in the campaign. So if its an 8-week bounty and 4 weeks have gone by, it would be 50% x 4 weeks of earnings; granted tokens aren't being distributed until the end of the campaign.

b. It is possible that with the evidence, you may find someone is alt of another user while some other community member may not be convinced. What will be the solution here?

The evidence will be presented in such a way that a majority of forum members looking at it would come to the same conclusion. If reasonable objections are voiced, I will remove the user's negative tag. I have done this in the past in my Bounty Cheaters & Ban Evaders thread. Sometimes with bounty hunters, someone is legitimately buying tokens from several individual, non-connected campaign members. Other times its clear one person is collecting tokens into one address from several different accounts. This issue doesn't occur on the sig campaign/BTC side of things.

You're good at what you do but many people are already doing this for free. Are you certain that managers would pay more than $25 to police a worthless shitcoin campaign?

If its a bounty campaign they'd more likely take Option #1, and if they don't want to needlessly pay out tokens to rulebreakers, helping their client in the process, perhaps they'll be interested.

(updating OP fee rate options to reflect the above)

Nutildah's Bounty Cleanup & Alt Detection Service

A clean, fair and efficient way to elevate your campaign standards

Who is this service for?

Bounty and signature campaign managers only.

What is this service?

While the terms for several bounty & signature campaigns contain a clause that states alt accounts are not allowed to participate and/or cheaters will be disqualified w/o payment, account farms controlled by a single person (or a handful of people) continue to run rampant on the forum. Bounty managers may not have time to double-check that every participant is playing by the rules. This can have the following negative consequences:

  • Needless overpayment of tokens/BTC/ETH/etc.
  • Low quality promotional activity by participants.
  • Dissatisfaction of client could lead to reduced payment or discontinuation of campaign.
  • Extra work for bounty/campaign manager.

Using time-tested, peer-approved methods that result in a high rate of accuracy, my service roots out rulebreakers, cheaters & low-performance members of your campaign, raising the quality of campaign results while lowering costs, saving both you and your client valuable time & money.

How will you go about doing this?

While the needs of bounty/signature campaign managers vary, the primary service involves identifying alt account farms, cheaters & banned users through a number of established methods that are both transparent and sensible. These include account association via shared social media IDs, shared crypto addresses & in some cases, shared crypto deposit addresses. Offending accounts are then red tagged and thus rendered ineligible for campaign participation.

Some of the tools used for this purpose include ninjastic.space, bpip, loyce.club, and block explorers like bscscan, etherscan, blockchain.com, etc. I currently have 907 campaign member addresses tagged with forum account names in bscscan, which makes it easier to quickly identify alts and account farms:

Because of the need for transparency to ensure fairness, all results will be posted in a separate, non-moderated Reputation thread where accounts tagged as bounty cheaters / ban evaders / etc. can appeal the findings, and other members of the community can express their concerns/views. All campaign members subject to analysis will be treated in a fair and consistent manner.

How much does it cost?

As of now, there are two different options being offered which have different fee rates:

1) Bounty campaign investigation: I receive 50% of the payment that would have gone to campaign participants (up to the point of the investigation) that are found to be breaking campaign rules, whether it be in BSC tokens, ETH tokens, TRX tokens, etc. This option is reserved for bounties that are at least halfway concluded.

2) Signature campaign investigation: I will analyze your campaign, subsections of the campaign, or individual accounts at a rate of $25 per hour, payable in BTC, ETH, XRP, DOGE, TRX, USDT, or any major (top 20) cryptocurrency. Smaller campaigns may only take 1-3 hours while larger campaigns may take 8 or more hours. The minimum payment for any investigation is $25.

Qualifications:

  • 4-years experience in detecting alt accounts
  • 220+ negative feedbacks left for bounty & sig campaign cheaters
  • I'm consistently in the top 10-15% of most DT-included users (when selected for DT1)
  • Submitted over 2000 reports to moderators (>93% good, ~5.3% unhandled, <1% bad)

I'm not sure this has ever been tried before but I strongly believe this service could be of mutual benefit to both managers and their clients, resulting in significant savings for campaigns of all types & sizes.
