761  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich, average or poor. Who loses more? on: January 02, 2024, 07:13:06 PM
It is true that the average poor person is more affected by gambling and it is basically as a poor person to increase the possibility of luck will change them to get big opportunities, which can change their lives in an instant, especially in the lottery, although it is unlikely that they will try their luck with that kind of thing even though losing is a common habit.

I myself think that it's not that someone who uses bigger money can get more chances of winning than someone who uses smaller money but the fact of the matter is that 100x at $100 and $1000 is different.
Have you seen people that use low odd which encourage them to use higher amount of money to gamble? That is how it is. If you use low odd, you will have more chance to win but because of the high amount of money used, a single loss would be a huge blow that will make the person to be losing than several games won. Be it rich, average or poor, anyone among them can lose more. If anyone do not want to lose in gambling, they should gamble responsibly with small amount of money that they can afford to lose.

There was an exploit in Metamask or something, every website was vulnerable and also issue with a Hardware Wallet so that maybe the reason why this number went up so high.
The reasons this went up so high can be seen on one of the images that I posted before. This image:

I am sure those who had money in exchanges like Coinbase, Binance, Kraken are safe from all this bullshit of web3.
Those scammed are altcoins users. If they are using bitcoin, something like that may not happen to them but they like to use shit coins. Holding on exchanges have its own risks. Not your key not your coins.
763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why are casinos adding sportsbook on their platform? on: January 02, 2024, 02:27:11 PM
I noticed this too when I visited gambling sites that are known as casino-only platforms. I guess they realized they could use more of their system through sports books or they think it's a waste of hardware if they are only running casino games.
If casinos begin to be providing sport bet, they may have to employ more workers and also increase hardware and other things required. Do not forget that casinos and sport betting are not the same and need different approaches. The reason some start as a casino is because they do not have enough money to become both casino and a bookmaker, but as they start with one, they will be able to fund the other which they will later also established as they make money. So it is not about waste of hardware or waste of anything, they need more hardware and some other things before they will begin sport betting.

The key is to steer clear of websites with annoying ads and avoid linking your main wallet to unfamiliar sites. The incidence of phishing scams is likely to rise as more newcomers enter the crypto space without adequate knowledge of how to safeguard their assets.
The main thing is to know what this scam is and also having general know about scam. Phishing scam can be easily known and can be easily avoided. But you are also correct, it is very important for us to disable ads on our browsers, not sharing our emails anyhow and know how email phishing and others also are. As you can see, this type of scam is increasing almost every month, scammers are seeing it that people are falling victim for it and this will attract more online bad people to use it to scam.

I posted recently about how MS Drainers scammers used Google ads to steal $59 million from 63000 people in 9 months, according to a report. What I saw today even surprised me more about how people do not care about how to avoid scammers and hackers.

You can easily understand what I am saying from the news title: Scam Sniffer 2023: Crypto Phishing Scams Drain $300 Million from 320,000 Users

Theft stat

Notable Wallet Drainers

How do they initiate phishing activities?

On the former thread, we only talked about MS drainers. There are other ones. They use their Google and X ads which was formerly called Twitter to get through their victims that they drain their wallets. Other social media or means are also used.

Phishing sites are increasing day by day. You can see that from this chart:

I was thinking people will be able to know about phishing scam. We talked very well on them on this forum. But there are still many people that do not want to look for ways to protect their wallets and giving way for wallet drainers to steal their coins and tokens.

There are still more to know about them, read full on https://drops.scamsniffer.io/post/scam-sniffer-2023-crypto-phishing-scams-drain-300-million-from-320000-users/
766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your New Year's resolution? on: December 31, 2023, 03:55:48 PM
so next year I would focus more on self-discipline and control on my gambling expenses. I know this is a difficult result, but it's worth trying and doing anyway, right? I guess this is most likely the resolution of most gamblers, as they also notice that they can go overboard with their budget. And also, many become addicted to gambling, which should be changed or limited in the new year. Anyway,  happy new year to everyone.
If you have been gambling and losing more, it should not be difficult to do anymore. But it can first be difficult for newbie gamblers that have not lost anything. We gamble and have experience and continue to gamble and we look for ways to win but we are losing than winning. That is why self-discipline is very important. It starts from using low amount of money from your income like 2% of your income to gamble and jot going beyond it. If you lost all before next week income and you did not gamble again but wait until you receive your next income before using the next 2% to gamble, then you are disciplined already.
767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there long-term profitable sports bettors? on: December 31, 2023, 11:13:44 AM
I can see some people saying that bookies will reduce the odd of someone that is winning. That is not true in my opinion. I can also see that they said they will block the account of the person that is always winning. Maybe that is true, but I do not know.

In reducing odds, it is not true because not that a gambler is the target. Bookies can see some people selecting what will not pay them, or that is not paying them, after they have noticed, they reduce the odd. Not only that they reduce the odd at times, they may also reduce the maximum amount of money that you can use to stake with the type of the selection, but I only noticed this on a gambling site before. It is also good to know that after the odd has been reduced and they see people winning than the amount they are gaining from that type of selection, then they will removed the section so that no one will be able to select and stake it again.

Casinos are crazy for stopping a gambler from betting when they have hit a hot streak. Everyone knows the house always wins in the long run. Really I don't think a casino should be allowed to tell a person they can no longer gamble unless they're caught cheating, but that's not the way it is.

Are there long term sports bettors in profit? Probably a few scattered throughout the world, but I personally do not know any.
I am gambling but I lose more in sport betting than I gain. Among my friends that are gambling, we are all losing. I have not also seen anyone that is a sport gambler that won more than lost before. In your first paragraph, you mentioned casino. I think that is a mistake because this thread is about sport gamblers and they make use of bookies/bookmakers to gamble, not casinos.
768  Other / Meta / Re: Decentralize Bitcointalk on: December 31, 2023, 06:54:35 AM
Bitcointalk is a forum for a decentralize money bitcoin and other cryptos. I believe bitcointalk should be hosted on decentralize hosting and decentralize domain name or there should be a back up or mirror site for bitcointalk. We don't know the future they could ban bitcoin and also ban bitcointalk.org and other websites that supports bitcoin. USA getting desperate with de dollarization or  Somewhere in the future china (2027-2030) will be the most dominant superpower would ban / sanction bitcoin.
Bitcoin has been accepted in the world. There is no sign that bitcoin would be banned. I can only see more adoption. See United States SEC now that wants to approve bitcoin spot ETF. Nobody will also ban this forum, but what I do not like about this forum recently is the censorship that will start in January 1, 2024, but it is still for the good and progress of the forum.
769  Economy / Lending / Re: [Question]Would someone give me a loan? on: December 31, 2023, 05:18:10 AM
With collateral why take the loan if you can sell the collateral coins? If you have collateral and taking a loan does it seems you only wants to boost your trust score rather than wanted to take the loan.
You may not want to use an exchange. Let us say you need 0.002 BTC to purchase something online. You have altcoins that are not accepted on online site. You can borrow the BTC here. Use it to purchase  the thing and pay back once you have it.

Signature campaign? Does it make the forum bulky from useless posts. They reply from posts they don't even fully understand like they understand and don't even read the other posts.
This thread is about loan and not about posts in respect to signature campaigns. If you are in a campaign and receiving campaign payment, you can be given loan.
770  Economy / Lending / Re: [Question]Would someone give me a loan? on: December 31, 2023, 04:03:14 AM
There are two reasons you can be given a loan on this forum. If you are able to meet one, you will be given loan. The first is that you have collateral. The second is if you join a campaign already and earning money weekly. Without any of these, you can not be given loan on this forum because no member would want to as you have nothing to lose if you do not pay the money back.
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin sidechains on: December 30, 2023, 10:18:42 AM
Bitcoin transaction fee is high and I am looking for other ways that I can store my coins. I have been reading about bitcoin side chains but I do not really know what they are. What are bitcoin sidechain like Rootstock and what wallet can I used to store them?

I also want to ask if those pegged coins are side chains or not?
772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The frustrations in loosing a huge bet when your winning was so assured. on: December 30, 2023, 09:04:58 AM
I know that painful feeling when you're this close to winning, only to have it swiped away in the final moments. I'm guessing you probably felt like throwing something across the room or just screaming out loud.  Especially when you were so sure you had this one, and that sweet profit was practically already yours.  To come that close and lose it all mustve really stung.
Nobody should be sure he or she has won a game until the game has finished. If the game has not finished, something can still happen. So to be sure that he has won a game is not correct unless the game has finished.

The second thing is that if the person uses small amount of money that he can be able to lose to gamble, he can lose the match, smile and said shit happens and never think about loss anymore. If someone because of that throw something at something or vandalized something, that means he used huge amount and that is not advised in gambling.
773  Other / Meta / Re: Opinion on Spelling Check on: December 30, 2023, 09:00:04 AM
I know this isn't exactly microsoft word but I am curious to know if you think that the Bitcoin Talk Forum is probably more real and authentic because of the lack of a spell check? I think that in addition to being able to guage intelect and a sort of personality traits to pick up from the readers perspective recognizing proper spelling habits in any users helps you know whether or not a person is out of character due to a hack or something of that sort and now we have an account under the control of a hacker/scammer. I think its honeslty great that we don't have a spell check because I think it always has you second guessing yourself and thus training you to always double or triple check your words on a public forum.
That means you are using phone, those computer browsers that I have used have spell check themselves. I think  Windows OS that I am using makes it like that. But on Android phone, I do not see spell check there. I use Edge browser and everything you wrote incorrectly are going to be highlighted in red under the words. Do not expect this forum to do all for you.

You are relating it to scammers and hackers. Don't your know that scammers and hackers can also write good English and use the right tools needed for it.
774  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for loan. on: December 29, 2023, 08:09:54 PM
My collateral is a crypto account with altcoin in it
You must be out of your mind or you are out of your substance and not knowing what you are posting. You have to send the collateral to the person you are loaning from. Or you can use you Bitcointalk account as an opportunity if you are in a campaign but you are not in a campaign. If anyone borrow you money now, 100% certain that you will not pay back.
775  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Maybe future trade is gambling on: December 29, 2023, 08:03:21 PM
Gambling is a game of chance.
Trading is not a game. In trading, you are not gambling anything but trading.
The trade may favour you or not and that is why it is risky.

So basically, on your own words trading is gambling!  Cheesy
You are very wrong and you are not getting what I meant. Trading is not a game, but gambling is a game. In trading, you are buying and selling. In gambling, you are not buying and selling anything. Both are risky and their risks can be the same, but some people like you failed to understand that trading and gambling are not the same.
776  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Maybe future trade is gambling on: December 29, 2023, 06:20:46 PM
We consider an activity as gambling when the risk intake is high and the returns are huge. If a similar condition arrives at any activity, then definitely it’s nothing but pure gambling. If we see in future trading then definitely you buy the coins and sell at limited time, here the profit can be huge, and if went for loss, then it will really go very down. So yes future trading is almost like gambling or risking your money. The story you mentioned really made me sad, he lost the money due to high risk or which you can say high leverage.
Gambling is a game of chance. Trading is not a game. In trading, you are not gambling anything but trading. The trade may favour you or not and that is why it is risky. An investor can lose. In a business, a business man can lose. In anything that we can gain from, we can also lose. But the risks are higher in future trading. The risks are higher but it is not gambling.
777  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips to consider before selecting an under 3.5 football prediction on: December 29, 2023, 03:07:23 PM
If you a daily bettor, its not worth with the risk to bet only on Under 3.5.
Most of Under 3.5 usually comes with a low payout, e.g: 1.4x 1.3x or even lower than that.
Yeah I understand the chance to win that bet is bigger but if we lose 1 bet with that odds = we must win 3 bets to make it even.
If I want to choose over and understand matches, I prefer to make research just like the OP said already and also just go for not more than either over or under 2.5 which are of higher odds than the 3.5. But sometimes the odd can be high for under 3.5 if the team that is playing is strong and scoring very well. But normally I prefer casinos than bookies because bookies are using odds to scam unlike high odds in casinos.
778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale betting system on: December 29, 2023, 03:00:18 PM
The variants mentioned by Oshosondy can work in the short term, but as I said it is a losing strategy in the long term, if you keep applying it ad perpetuum, as nobody has enough bankroll to recover from a losing spree that sooner or later will happen.
It is not only martingale strategy that will fail gamblers, all strategies will fail gamblers. As long as you continue to gamble for long, you will see the house or bookies winning. They have house edge that gamblers can see but some gamblers will still think that they can win the house or the bookies. They are just deceiving themselves.
779  Other / Meta / Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ? on: December 29, 2023, 09:48:39 AM
Bitcoin mixers should be allowed back.

What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ?  Or do you like the forum exactly as it is ?
New forum software. Although I am not expecting it but it would be good if we have new forum software.

But top of my list will be the Newbie Welcome Message. It has been too many years in the works and should help get rid of all the newbie introduction posts asking for guidance as well as actually pointing new members in the direction they should go.
I do not know where I have seen it before, but it is what is welcome on this forum. I do not think that can be done.

There has been a whole lot of changes this year.however I would love to see less plagiarism, less use of alts and most especially I would love there to be less posts about conjestions in the mempool. It may seem like so much to ask but I wish it was possible so Bitcoiners here would not have to go through the stress of battling ways to tackle the current high fee problem anytime they wish to make transaction. Like come to think of it part of Satoshi's idea was to make a suitable and easy peer-to-peer currency. But lately Bitcoin has become more of an investment than a P2P currency.
The moderators are doing everything to ban plagiarists. About mempool congestion, it is normal because as it started, people transactions are stuck and they will ask about how to solve the stuck transaction. About congestion mempool, this is not related to this forum but to bitcoin itself.
780  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It will save your capital more than you can imagine on: December 28, 2023, 08:20:10 PM
Maybe because I'm not a trader who trades with large capital so I rarely use stop losses.
Using the stop loss feature in trading with large capital is very helpful in setting a good pattern for our capital.
On Bitcoin, long-term targets are not for short-term trading.

Btw, this is a good experience. For beginners who still don't understand how to trade, you can practice it.
Day-to-day trading requires a smart mind in implementing strategies with planned patterns and avoiding exiting the trading strategy.
What you think as a large capital can be a small capital for someone. Let us say a trader has $100000, he trades with $10000. When he wants to start trade, he use $1000, if he is losing, he increase the margin until it is 1x that will make it $10000. After that, he still go 2x which is the final. That is 20x leverage with low risk. Stop loss is also not needed with this scenario.
