I am a member of 2 teams already on slack but they are not ethereumclassic teams.  I just get the message "If you're trying to join a specific team that isn't listed here, you can try contacting your Team Administrator for an invitation."

What happens when you click on  http://ethereumclassic.herokuapp.com ?  Should be an option to sign up....

Edit: I have corrected the link in my posts above to the one redsn0w recommends.  Thanks, red!

who is in charge of settng that slack channel up?

Looks like bitnovosti set up the slack site on July 20 which initialized the general channel there.   Seccour then set up the trading / mining / development channels, and proslogion started the dapp channel. Anybody can start a new channel now that the site is set up - there are 28 channels so far.

As malreynolds said, "Please study this video and watch for tells." great saying!

Altho I am indeed an avid poker player, the "watch for tells" line comes from greenuser!   Cool

Green, if you are a poker player too, let's meet someplace online and play heads-up for low stakes!

I do agree that removing the Difficulty Bomb needs to be addressed very soon.

This is an understatement.   The DB needs to be addressed NOW.   Both ETH and now ETC are living on borrowed time.   They are both like trains speeding down a railroad track where the bridge across the canyon has broken up ahead.  Something's gotta give.  For ETH, Vatalik is rushing (um, never a good thing in writing code) to get a fork to Casper in place.  THis will shift the ETH train over onto a Proof-of-Stake-only track.  For ETC.... Huh

Who the hell builds something like a Difficulty Bomb into their code before they have even set up a testnet to verify the alternative required for survival?    I just got into Ethereum this week as a buy-and-hold ETC investor.  Tthe deeper I do my research, the more insane VB and the rest of the Ethereum team appears to me.

http://allcoinsnews.com/2016/03/09/ethereum-releases-serenity-poc2-first-python-proof-of-concept-version/

From March 9: "The Ethereum developers have made available the first python based proof of concept (simulation) release of Serenity, the version of the Ethereum protocol designed to move from consensus through proof-of-work to proof-of-stake.  Called Serenity PoC2 (which contains the Casper economic consensus protocol)  is now available on Github and continues to be not a testnet-ready or production-ready client, according to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Butterin."

"....starting from block 200,000 (very roughly X days from now), the difficulty will undergo an exponential increase which will only become noticeable in about a year...."

Note - Block 200,000 was hit just this week.  What a coincidence.  The clock is ticking.

A Trello channel has been set up to coordinate ETC Client development efforts.

Colibry started this effort and so far five other devs have joined:

Bart W
Cody Burns
Igor Artanonov (splix)
Elaine Ou
Gravity

Tangible progress on ETC continues!

How many developers did btc had in the beginning stage ?

The real question is: why did Charles not assign three devs to Lisk when he was taken on as a Lisk advisor and accepted an advisor fee?
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: August 05, 2016, 12:25:01 PM
Follow the continuing efforts of YOUR Lisk Testnet Team here as they struggle to get 0.3.2 up and running:

https://testnet-explorer.lisk.io/delegateMonitor

At this writing, a third of the testnet delegates are still trying to get 0.3.2 up and running.  Half of THOSE are people who had 80%+ productivity on 0.3.1, so they absolutely know what they are doing.

The bottom line:  Running a Lisk node is not easy and you need to be thankful there are people out there who are willing to do it for you.  Please go vote for them on mainet.

where can i get info on the deo hacker and his next move with all his coins?

Start with the link below and read all the comments.  It's worth your time.

https://steemit.com/crypto-news/@eeks/dao-attacker-has-drained-etc-dao-ethereum-classic

So let's recap.

On the ETC chain, the DAO attacker moved all her ETC to unknown areas at sub-$1 prices.  Her ETC stash is thus worth around $6M at current prices.

In the past week the craziness of ETC trading has generated over $200M of trading.

Conclusion: On the ETC chain, the DAO thief is a drop in the bucket compared to the BTC outsiders that have flooded into the ETC chain at Poloniex.

On the ETC chain, the DAO hack is ancient history and has no real impact on what happens next to ETC.

Interesting ETC articles in TheMerkle:

http://themerkle.com/will-coinbase-have-enough-of-an-etc-supply-to-honor-its-promise/

http://themerkle.com/casper-may-cause-centralized-staking-by-rich-ethereum-holders/

The upcoming ETH switch to Casper is a key decision point for ETC.  I personally think ETC should not follow ETH into becoming a Proof of Stake coin.  If general agreement for this point could be reached now, it would be a powerful inducement for miners to switch from ETH to ETC now.

Lisk Technical Meeting - 08.13.2016

Exact time/place is to be determined, but probably same time as our last Community Meeting at lisk.chat #general.   I am one of the editors accepting questions to add to the outline.  Got a Lisk tech question?  Send me a message here on BCT and I'll add it to the list below!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/14KcZqMHp_wfOkqCTXuP8F9fhwaMspIikKcAzg7Pa5p4/edit?ts=57a3c7cb#heading=h.poywsxpy3yog

metropolit - I added your question, thanks.  I agree it is a sidechain technical question.

Calabi–Yau Manifold - I added your question under "Other", thanks.  However, your questions are not "technical" ones.  I recommend you post them here in the BCT forum and let LiskHQ answer them here.

bitcoinbox - I added your question under "Other", thanks.  However, your questions are not "technical" ones.  I recommend you post them here in the BCT forum and let LiskHQ answer them here.

Anyone have the link to the Ethereum Classic slack channel?

If there is one, it would also be helpful to update the OP to include that link under the community links section.  Smiley

EDIT: found it on the website, here it is for anyone wondering: https://ethereumclassic.herokuapp.com

I joined this earlier today.  500+ members, all the ETC heavyweights are there plotting and scheming in plain public view.  Go join them.

Available now:  ETC Block Explorer at http://gastracker.io/

Coming soon:

OK then ....who are the devs? what is the plan? and what is etc future plans? ...

Patience, grasshopper.  As these things you seek organize themselves, take comfort in these further developments by Coinbase and ShapeShift to support ETC.

this tweet is very old nothing new...

This tweet was made only around 24 hours ago.  That's "very old" !?!  Push ETC trading to Warp Factor Nine!

Price is down almost 30% for the day. What's going on?

Vitalik tweeted this several hours ago, in response to the question "Would you support ETC if it had the longer blockchain".  The market is responding.

The return to 0.0040+ after several hours of dips shows that the popular sentiment behind ETC is stronger than just one guy.

Important test - the price goes from 0.0036 to 0.0043 (the tiny green upturn).  Will the hash rate (red line) follow?

The main thing is for now, where are the miners? I've had a birdie tell me they are moving back to ETH which is why the price is falling.

Look closely and you will see that the miners are following the price, not the price following the miners.  This is not a crash situation.  Yet.

https://slacknation.github.io/medium/13/13.html

The key is for ETC to live day by day and survive until they can start a gentle trend upward.  So far, so good.  But that could change literally at any moment.

EDITED TO ADD: That moment could be coming soon.  ETC is now getting monkey hammered below 0.004...

...in the long run this <Lisk> is where the money will be made and success will be created.

Agreed.
