So people are looking for investments that make big promises but don't actually deliver? Hmmmm... Asicminer delivered hugely... when one was with them from the start... they only got worse later and at the end their boss vanished... In other words a textbook ponzi scam. Asicminer was nothing like a Ponzi. It was a typical startup that had early (huge) success but was later plagued with production issues. They refunded/replaced all defective machines from their last project and simply did not have the funds to produce another generation of ASICs in a tight marketplace. They supplied mining equipment for a joint venture (cloud mining) and the machines were purportedly stolen. Beyond that part of the story it gets rather murky even somewhat intriguing and leads to the disappearance and possible death of the would be President - Friedcat. In my books, he's still an awesome guy and I hope he is alive and well.

Hi,
I wrote my private key on the paper, and i tried to retrieve the btc from the address recently, but found my private key only contain 50 characters! It is my mistake when record down the private key!!
The private key format is WIF without any compressed, base58, start with "5". I've 50 characters on hand, is there any brute force tools to calculate the key in quick way?
Thank you.
How many coins are stored in the address?

Hard to make 7 Characters on address it takes several days.
I just use the -i option and begin to get results in a few minutes or less. With a bit of luck you can get a nice looking 7 letter prefix in an hour or so that way.

i have a question for the palindrome suffix. is it not the same difficulty to get a suffix for a bitcoin address as it is for the prefix? meaning there should be better vanity addresses for that longest palindrome than what you listed there.
Yeah the difficulty is the same but the problem is you need to use regex and the -r option doesn't work with the OCL version. You're limited to using CPU only which is a lot slower than the GPU. Finally! I found a longer palindromic address - 1234mNnAPb8YnCsbacaNhB4BqwxB4U4321 message: xhomerx10 controls this 8 letter palindrome address 1234mNnAPb8YnCsbacaNhB4BqwxB4U4321 Signature: G1bBxCw7Pimu9wOrhJFBZGFYXwpL6gh7SViWSsSkyRGSevwmlyzaP2bw1rAAQ2On5gTKfw82zqlmj2b hSuabsCM=

These rules stifle growth of a few aspects of bitcoin. Find it interesting how far bitcoin has gone from its roots of anti government to full submit ass up in the air. Guess greed outruns the freedom aspect bitcoin could have offered. The more rules that are brought in the less of a movement bitcoin becomes.
Bend yer knee for thy government!
I don't see how greed is a factor in this situation. Bitcoin is still a decentralized (free of gov't control), trustless currency with a publicly shared ledger, a pretty good amount of privacy (though probably not as good as cash) and some very low transaction fees. If we want to integrate it into society and be able to convert freely between other forms of currency, we have to respect the laws that were in place before Bitcoin was conceived. Failing to do so would result in prosecution. Am I being greedy for not wanting to end up in court and possibly do some jail time? What was your vision of Bitcoin? How did you envision its use?

Hey guys, what is your opinion on AML (Anit Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) on Bitcoin? I know that some companies like Elliptic and Skry (former Coinanalytics) are working on this. Thanks for some thougts on this Any bitcoin exchange that wants to be legitimate will incorporate KYC and AML. They have no choice but do this as most countries are on board. I don't know how often this thread is updated but it is quite an in depth analysis - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=454795.0 I've had to show ID to use moneygram... it sucks but unless you want to do smaller transactions over a longer period of time, you're stuck.

No, it is you who is off and who is not doing his homework. It is an old chart. When you click on Cashier (even if you are non US person, e.g. you can not use Skrill), you get only Acct2acct transfer or Bitcoin payout.
The moneylaundering of course in 5dimes case is nothing else than transferring money to and from 5dimes. US calls that moneylaundering. That does not mean it is moneylaundering.
Nope. That is the latest up to date chart. Also, customer service told me to check that link to see all the available funding methods including withdrawals. Am I to assume they are lying to me? Maybe you have an unverified account.

Is the quilt underneath of the multimeter for sale as well? My wife loves it! '

Why show a picture of a antique multimeter instead of the 10kW generator? Do you have any pictures of the device you are selling?
hes selling snakeoil that also cures cancer if you look at it to long. dont be a total idiot, if you want pictures just use your imagination and picture whatever god you belive in and thats what hes got bundled up in an infinite energy machine Energy is infinite. It can neither be created nor destroyed according to the current understanding. If energy is infinite, can it not be infinitely harnessed? I would like to see this machine and make my own conclusions but I thank you for your concern.

It's not trolling to make a statement in your thread about an illogical conclusion
Explain why the conclusion is illogical? Why is Bitcoin not the reserve currency of crypto gambling? Please don't reply again if you aren't going to get directly to the point. You are filling the thread with useless noise. I will flag your posts to the moderator if you continue posting noise and not making an argument. I've already gotten to the point. NONE of the quotes in the initial post either individually or as a whole would lead to the conclusion that Bitcoin is the reserve currency for gambling. That is my argument. There is no explanation required. Listen, my reading comprehension is generally pretty good and I have read the first post more times than I probably should have already but I can't make anything of it. AS an aside, if you can honestly tell me after reading your initial post that it leads you to any sort of conclusion about anything at all, then I suggest that you might need some help. This is not an attack on your person nor am I trolling, I am genuinely concerned for your well-being.

I've only made the statement that you have posed shit. One only need read the shit to substantiate my claim. Apparently you don't even read your own shit.
Thats not an argument. It is trolling. When you are ready to make an argument, such as posting statistics on Bitcoin's usage, I will welcome the challenge. Until then, your posts are vacuous. Hope it is starting to sink in, that you are trolling someone who is very smart and has even been alleged to be Satoshi. It's not trolling to make a statement in your thread about an illogical conclusion you have come to with a few disjointed re-posts of shit you typed earlier in the day/week. I initially read the post thinking I might learn something. No doubt you are smart and possibly also manipulative but if you want to debate the intelligence of Satoshi, we'd better begin another thread because that would be off-topic.

You forgot to mention the fallacy of your non-argument. Your point is invalid.
You forgot to make an argument. I didn't want to cut and paste my first post into my last post. It's lazy... look up. I don't see any argument there on your first post (in this thread). Where is the logic substantiating your allegation? You've pasted a few disjointed quotes (your own quotes I might add) from other threads together illogically concluding that Bitcoin is the reserve currency of gambling. Is this the clever new way to create new threads; cutting and pasting from old posts? Somebody call the mods!

Oh the horror of Do Not Repeat Yourself and the SPOT principles of good design. You forgot to mention the fallacy of your non-argument. Your point is invalid.

Isn't that one of those fake bus shelters they place in front of Elderly Care Centers in Germany to prevent the Alzheimer's patients from running away?! Who is in charge of this campaign?

It's the best way to gamble, a dream for gamblers in fact. When I was younger, I wanted to play poker for real money, but all those sites always wanted my id, so of course I couldn't join the fun because I had problems
1) getting a bank account at my age back then (I was still in HS) 2) getting this money transferred into a gambling site 3) registering to gambling site, sending all the data, getting verified (impossible cause I was underage)
With Bitcoin I would have been able to have some poker fun in seconds and playing for real money (with fake money it was so boring). And I was not stupid and i would not do crazy gambles, I just wanted to start practicing with the feeling of playing for real money and not fake credits. I could have been playing for real money vs any player in the world in a restrictionless way. Bitcoin doesn't give a single fuck about who is using it so I could have been free to do anything.
Money doesn't give a single fuck about who it using it. Alcohol doesn't give a single fuck about who is drinking it. Your underage girlfriend doesn't give a single... wait maybe she does; my point is that it is illegal. It is not Bitcoin breaking the law here, it is you and if you wanted to find a way to break the law there would be a myriad of ways to do so. Don't use Bitcoin as a scapegoat - it can't smoke weed for you.

I rather do not post here much anymore, because many people have no clue about money and economics and they just repost here any bullshit that will kill fiat tomorrow etc. But I believe in Bitcoin for pure fundamental reasons. Those reasons are not that Bitcoin is something simpler or cheaper than centralised money. The reasons why Bitcoin has future, although it is still quite complicated instrument with bad name, is that soon many businesses will be out of fiat transactions, esp. the USD. It happens that I do a lot of biz in advertisement and gambling. Recently 5dimes was cut of their funds http://calvinayre.com/2016/03/02/business/online-sportsbook-5dimes-costa-rica-money-laundering-probe/ and accused of moneylaundering. So it happened they now pay out players and business partners ONLY in Bitcoins. It is not pennies, they are making netto tens of millions per year. Then came Panama leaks, banks got crazy now. I think the biggest bookie for US: Bovada, finally adopted Bitcoins. I tried to persuade them for maybe 2 years and they thought it is some kid's play. Now Bitcoin seems to be their hope. One month ago they told me they are trying it. Today they told me that the only option to get money from them is Bitcoin. Those are big news. I believe together with halving we will see now incredible surge of value. This is not about buying coffee in Starbucks, which is nonsense. Those are quite large bitcoin transactions that do not care much about transaction fees. Imagine that the fees that bookies pay to get money to and from US are at 5-10%. I have a feeling something has now started to move and avalanche is approaching. I am very much surprised nobody informed about this gambling development yet. Bitcoin is not just an option, it becomes the only option. You are so full of misinformation. 5dimes seems to have a few other methods available for payouts. Money laundering in any currency is going to be investigated, Bitcoin isn't going to help.
