7681  Other / Meta / Re: How can we protect Newbies from getting scammed? on: February 21, 2019, 08:12:59 AM
A welcome PM from forum to all newbie could go a long way to warn them about scammers on forum. When a new user creates an account and login a PM should be sent welcoming them to the forum and warning him/her e.g "Welcome to the forum (username). Don't believe any offer or click on any links sent to you through PM's, all transactions should be carried out openly on threads to prevent possible scam attempt". in addition to any other important information the forum want to info the users about.

Surely it isn't just the newbie account that include scammers. In fact, it's probably more likely that purchased senior accounts will be scammers.

If purchase accounts get scammed I don't think it's the forum problem they deserve it because you can find warning all over the forum discouraging account farming. And those users involved in account farmingare looking for short cuts to earning therefore deserve whatever they gets be it red tagged, scammed or ban.
7682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ★ Gambling vs Forex vs Crypto Trading ★ on: February 21, 2019, 05:08:10 AM
Crypto trading any time any day.
Gambling - comes with a problem of addiction... Can be good for entertainment/fun
Stock trading - requires a lot of skill to be a good trader.

All of the three method of earning mentioned above comes with a problem of addiction but gambling is more destructive. Also all the three method mentioned above also requires some level of skills and luck for you to be successful at them so they're in the same bracket. You just have to keep your emotions in check when participating in any of them to avoid making wrong decisions.
7683  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cabalism13's Tips on Building A Trusted Profile on: February 20, 2019, 10:18:27 PM
I get it that you're trying to help but what are the source of this advice? Since you said you aren't qualified to give the advice (which technical you aren't) then where did you get the advice from? I believe in the saying you can't give what you don't have and since you don't have a reputation on your account don't you think this advice is coming from the wrong user. You first have to build your reputation before you advice others on reputation building, just as you did in your cabalism13's Activity Tips on Ranking. You need a reputation to back this advice up.

Not asking you to go looking for trust farming/swapping but at least your profile has to serve as as example for every advice relating to forum you give, to proof the tips/advice actually works.
7684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Money Laundering Operations? on: February 20, 2019, 06:29:33 PM
I didn't know similar thread has already been started on this board. i also saw the transactions and had asked same question on the mining board titled, Are miners laundering money or these are honest mistakes by senders. thinking it was also money laundering but just as DdmrDdmr has started "the automatic bot went wrong" could be the closest answer to the mysterious extremely high transaction fee or maybe  Nanopool and Ethermine are playing with the ethereum blockchain lol Grin.
7685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are miners laundering money or these are honest mistakes by senders. on: February 20, 2019, 06:24:46 PM
I just discovered there's another thread that the topic is been discussed on, at the beginner and help board so I see no point in keeping this one open but just want to drop a reply from DdmrDdmr and lock topic. Anyone interested in the topic can visit that board and continue in the disscussion there.

The hypothesis now are more inclined for it to be an "automated bot that went wrong". In the meantime, Sparkpool has frozen the payout and is giving the TX sender a chance to contact them to find a reasonable solution (see https://www.coindesk.com/sparkpool-to-freeze-mysterious-2100-ether-mining-payout-for-now).

The other four high fee TXs from the same origin were paid out to Nanopool and Ethermine, who yet have to make a pronouncement on the matter.
7686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Are miners laundering money or these are honest mistakes by senders. on: February 20, 2019, 02:42:10 PM
Saw a post on Facebook, the poster was laughing at a transaction on ethscan with 2100 ETH ($305,603) as transaction fee and 0.1ETH as sent amount. most commenter concluded it was a mistake but I had some doubt and decided to research further then found a Reddit post on the same issue providing other transaction ID.

Transaction fee, 2100 ETH: https://etherscan.io/tx/0x1f73b43dc9c48cc131a931fac7095de9e5eba0c5184ec0c5c5f1f32efa2a6bab

Transaction fee 840 ETH: https://etherscan.io/tx/0xc3e6f47ffa1b1e0bf926d5727e1adedac595d24cc4fa9b2f271d35566fdaf8d6

Transaction fee, 420 ETH: https://etherscan.io/tx/0xcb59748b9b7b9732f04b66dde0009a1e4856a50ed8ff68a0dedbaa5e57807d31

Transaction fee, 210 ETH: https://etherscan.io/tx/0x5691ddae752652bd579da5b45e84d5b90ae35acce5cbd308a1574c31f722608f

Also there's a claim that those transactions fees have been collected by the same miner but since I don't have any idea on mining I can't disprove or verify that claim, that's why I started this thread. I need clarification.

Is this some act of money laundering or honest mistakes from address holders, what could be the possible reason for all this transactions to send such extremely high fee in the period of 48hours.
7687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2018-2019 on: February 20, 2019, 01:23:09 PM
Let's just lookout for today's matches, hopefully we'd see a different results

Sure the last both games ended on a disappointing note as they both ended goalless but it wasn't that boring to watch if you ask me. I enjoyed Lyon vs barca most especially and as for tonight game I see a narrow win for juventus, scoreline A.madrid 1 - 2 Juventus with CR7 scoring 1 or assisting 1.
7688  Other / Meta / Re: Member defined rank restriction on thread replies on: February 20, 2019, 12:54:45 PM
The suggestion isn't a bad one but don't we have specific board for that purpose already? If you're starting a thread and you want only the opinion of higher rank users I guess that most be a serious discussion and it can be posted on the Ivory Tower board for full member above to air their views and if you're looking for lower rank replies (minus newbies) then the serious discussion will give you replies from jnr members above.

Again let's not forget those boards with rank restrictions aren't that active and the same thing might occur to the self moderated topics with rank restrictions

Also I see a big disadvantage to this because it might get abuse, higher rank users might start creating threads just for themselves and this will deprived the lower rank users with quality at hand to contribute/interact with the higher rank users and possibly get reward with merit to rank up.

Let me point out that participanting in Forex and Crypto trading without any skills or little knowledge is also regards as gambling, that been side gambling is an actively totally dependant on luck and sometimes experience/skills.

My opinion: the favorite among the three forms of earning mentioned above is crypto trading, it's the easiest to learn therefore I'll suggest anyone interested in earning from the three of them should go try this order, First crypto trading next to Forex/stock trading and finally Gambling ( should be used mostly for having fun that way your losses won't cause much emotional damage).

The truth is, you can earn from all three forms of online earning mentioned above.
7691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners & Help – sMerit Distribution Summary on: February 19, 2019, 11:37:59 PM
If I understood clearing from the meriter and merited ranking statistics it means I have received 51merit lately from board and sent 34 smerits right? If that's correct that means I'm even doing much better then I taught in times of sending smerits.

I enjoy posting and reading topics on this board that's why it's one of my most active boards. I feel the users mostly using this board are those in seek of knowledge or helping others out. The board is so innocent and haven't yet been corrupt.

Thanks DdmrDdmr for such a great analysis at least we're doing a great job on the board, hope it remains like this for a very long time.
7692  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible buy BTC at lower price than exhange? on: February 19, 2019, 09:29:08 PM
You can still do that on most exchange, set a buy order lower than the actual market price, e.g 1BTC is $3600 and you want to buy at $3500 you just have to set your buy order to $3500 and when bitcoin drops in price your order will be executed. If you want an instant trade  or don't want to use an exchange, you can make use of the Currency exchange board, start a thread there stating the price you want to trade for or buy the coin at and hopefully you'll find someone interested but note scamming is real.
7693  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 19, 2019, 09:11:09 PM
I won't tag a user for merit begging I would only advice them (have done that severally) if you're even thinking of begging for merit do it right, (the legal way Grin) we have giveaways where you go post link of post you feel were quality and meriters who view your post and finds it merit worthy will send you those merit. Instead of compromising your account just because of begging for merits use Giveaways thread (at least those thread encourages you to post with quality).

PS: I'm not encouraging begging of merits in any way, just advising those users begging should stop make use of GIVEAWAY THREADs instead. It'll help them improve their posting style since most TS {Thread starters} give reviews on link of post submitted.
7694  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Infographic]: Guide on possible reasons to leave a -ve/+ve trust feedbacks. on: February 19, 2019, 08:48:49 PM
The infographic is fine, it's not bad and using BbCodes is also fine. I know a friend that got red tagged or negative trusted by a forum member ( I won't mention any names/usernames to keep it secret ). He/She red tagged my friend just because of a misunderstanding that two of them arguing to such small matter/problem.

Glad to hear that from you. About the situation you described above it's normal we're all humans and sometimes our emotions brings out the worst in us, am also glad they settled the issue within themselves and makes it a perfect example on how to handle false negative tags (which is, only the two parties can resolved it).
The trust system is evolving, we aren't there yet but it's manageable.
7695  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New Scam Through Escrow Services !!! on: February 19, 2019, 05:28:29 AM
Seems like this discussion resurrected the owner of the escrow service by username monbux the impersonator was trying to copy. He Is back online after several months of been offline. the last time he made a post before today was August 10, 2018 can someone head over to the thread and verify the signature message he posted few hours ago. I'm not saying it isn't him but just trying to take precautions to prevent a case of account hacking since user positive feedback is very high.
7696  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ★Keep your role on Default Trust(DT) selection★ on: February 19, 2019, 05:06:13 AM
It's worth mentioning somewhere in your guide that by setting a custom trust list you are not just voting for DT1 members, but you are also choosing whose ratings you trust, and therefore altering which ratings you see under "Trusted Feedback" and every user's trust score.

I have a question I wanted to ask so instead of starting a thread permit me to ask it here. It concerns who to add on your custom list. Are they those you have traded with or those you think their judgement (feedbacks) is contributing positively to the forum or Both since each users on your custom list gets a vote from you if you meet the required criteria.

Let me make my question clear for example I have Coolcryptovator, ICOethics and others on my custom list but haven't traded with any of the users but I trusted them to see their feedbacks due to their pass record of scam busting. Also since I haven't made any trade on forum but the only thing I have done which is kind of close to trade is participating in paid signature campaign and got paid by  Hhampuz and he's also on my custom trust list due to I trust his feedbacks.

Now the questions is, looking at the two situations I described above which is more fit to be on my custom trust list? Is it those you have done trade with and their feedback are trusted by you or those you haven't traded with but from general view their feedback are accurate.
7697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Is Your Worst Moment in Gambling? on: February 18, 2019, 10:59:49 AM
i haven't experience any worst moment, i won't say i haven't lost but i don't consider it as a worst moment. I see gambling as a way to catch fun i don't take it as full time job and i have different precautions i take to  prevent me form getting addicted. So so far i haven't experience any harsh disappointing moment to be considered as my worst but I'm prepared knowing it'll come at some point.
7698  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have achieved 500+ earned merit. (Motivational) on: February 18, 2019, 10:39:11 AM
What is the usefulness of merit?

The obvious answer will be that merits in combination with activity helps you rank up. For example your account is having the rank of a newbie if you earn just 1merit your account will have the potential to rank up to jnr member when you reach the required activity. But merit does more than that, for instance it give you the satisfaction that you're contributing positively to the forum, shows your effort in posting quality post is been appreciated by the meriter etc.

Coolcryptovator, congratulations on your achievement, your good works is the reason you're on my custom trust list even without having to trade with you. Continue in your good deed hope you get to legendary rank before the year ends. I'll be occupying your Snr member spot onces you rank up hopefully before the end of march Grin Grin
7699  Other / Meta / Re: Merit number indicator on showPost list ? on: February 18, 2019, 08:22:14 AM
<…>
I beg to differ, at least from the perspective of my local board.

That's cool, at least we all know the campaign you're participating in only accepted quality posters and most times reputed members also about the campaign manager accepting posts from local board I'm sure he based his judgement on, If the participates are reputed, active quality posters from their post in english then they'll reciprocate the same in those local boards because without even investigating i know he can't understand every local language his campaign participants post with. This is just a case of one campaign manager what about others?

That been said i still stand on my previous statement
I would had agreed to the idea as this will also make merit abusers hunters job easy but again it'll lead to laziness of many bounty managers, counting such post (because it was merited) as a quality post without knowing that it was a shitpost hiding in disguise.
7700  Other / Meta / Re: How can we take Bitcoin Talk back into the Bitcoin community? on: February 18, 2019, 07:50:06 AM
I found the video interesting, although it includes a number of items with which I would disagree. It includes a reference to Reddit, but no mention of Bitcoin Talk - the forum that started the Bitcoin revolution.

Here's the catch, reddit and other social media needs publicity that's why they get mentioned in bitcoin related video as the video you saw above did. Bitcointalk doesn't need a promotional helps from those video because it promote itself. If I'm not mistaking, BT has over 2million+ registered account and they got that without a single advertisement. Any new investor/user interested in bitcoin will end up hearing about bitcointalk one way or the other that, this was the forum everything started from. Therefore i think the forum is doing good although there's some wisdom for improvement, lets leave others medias to enjoy the spotlight while we focus on maximising the potentials of BTC

Bitcointalk is already holding her position as the major contributor (as the growth ground for bitcoin) what else are we asking from the platform, she is doing great the way she is. That's just the fact.
