Yes. 1BTC is still 1BTC. inferior currencies are much less interesting.

I often see people make this claim but it simply is not true.  If that were the case then taxes would certainly be easier, but it isn't.  $1=$1 but 1 BTC does not equal 1 BTC, at least in the eyes of the law.  It's all fun and games to pretend that Bitcoin is it's own thing, but it isn't.  I feel like people with this attitude are LARPing as Bitcoiners, but actually have no idea what they're doing, don't pay taxes, and likely don't even understand what Bitcoin is.  I'd love to see the face of someone's accountant when they utter the phrase, "1 BTC is 1 BTC" as that is the sort of stupidity that people tell stories about to their friends over a beer and a laugh.
7682  Economy / Collectibles / Re: NastyMining $14K+ / 140oz .999 Silver Coin Giveaway! on: August 13, 2021, 11:15:21 PM
Then once enough time has passed I will do a final auction of coins that went unclaimed by winners which will have proceeds distributed to all NastyFans seats.

I'm still awaiting quite a few addresses for the winners of this giveaway...  If you haven't received your coin, please make sure that you have checked with nonnakip to make sure that you have provided the requested information.  I sent out the coins to addresses I received immediately, so if you haven't received yours please double check that you've provided your address.  I had all these coins engraved and ready to go so people could get them quickly!  I want to get you your prizes as that was my intent with this giveaway and don't want to do any more auctions for new buyers until the winners have been sent their winnings!

Anybody else catch that walk off home run into the corn field at the field of dreams to get the White Sox the victory over the Yankees? Wow, what a moment. If you missed it, check out the news for a clip of not only the walk off home run into the corn to end the game, but also the pregame speech from Kevin Costner.
7685  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEC delays decision on ETF again, Vaneck, SolidX withdraw proposal on: August 12, 2021, 11:46:47 PM
You will laugh, but VanEck has filed a new application with the SEC to launch a bitcoin-based ETF. A new application for the creation of a" strategic bitcoin ETF " was submitted in accordance with the provisions of the Investment Companies Act of 1940. Previous applications were made mainly on the basis of the provisions of the 30s.

The VanEck ETF will be based on bitcoin futures and other bitcoin funds, for example, ETFs that have already been listed in Canada. VanEck will not invest directly in bitcoin and other digital assets, according to the announcement by Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.

The SEC (one of their “guys” anyway) stated that they would be much more open to a Bitcoin price based on futures. This led to multiple ETF applications for funds based on futures. It seems they are much more likely to be approved given the recent comments and that’s why this is happening. I think once the SEC let’s these funds get their foot in the door, a true spot BTC ETF will become available shortly thereafter.

Quick correction to lure some bears into the trap. They have to feel like a market crash is coming so they can load up on their short positions. Little do they know the tears from their leveraged losses will be the rocket fuel needed to propel this market to new all time highs. Stay away from leverage and stay long. Good luck!

I read that Kyle Korver is joining the Nets and I thought to myself that this must be the beginning of them loading up on good veterans for cheap to fill out their roster. Then I read that Kyle Korver is taking an assistant coaching role for player development with them. I didn’t know he retired, but congrats to him for starting the next chapter in his life with a new career.
7688  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] bitpic - Metal Bitcoin Picture Wallet on: August 12, 2021, 08:42:45 PM
Whoa wasn't expecting to see activity here again.

I've still got mine. Would take more if they're available Smiley

I reached out to you via PM to see if you were interested in my offer.  Reply back and let me know if you'd like my gift.  Smiley

I appreciate that you'd take more of them, but I don't see myself producing more bitpics on my own accord and they have been sold out for quite some time.  The address creation, engraving, photoshoot, artwork, manufacturing, & shipping costs made it so I was likely losing money on these at the time of sale.  With the current BTC rate, I'd probably want 0.02 BTC each to do anymore of these (with 1/2 of that going to loading the bitpic’s address) and would want enough orders for it to be worth my time.  I don't particularly see that occurring given the current state of collectibles and don't currently plan to make it happen, so you may have to be content with your bitpic.  I know mine is one of my favorite display pieces relating to Bitcoin, as it is the only display piece I own that actually holds BTC.  Who knows what the future holds, but for now I think I'm happy to focus my effort elsewhere while giving back to those who supported this project.
7689  Other / Politics & Society / Re: “Breakthrough” - cases of Covid-19 caused by the VACCINATED as Joe Rogan... on: August 12, 2021, 07:57:03 PM
That's not actually what he was talking about. He was talking about a small number of cases if you watch the full clip, the data is clear that the unvaccinated are the people getting infected and spreading this. Though, he also mentions that 78 percent of people in the ICU are obese, which is generally correct.

Not too much advocation for losing weight among the Covid hysteria crowd. If I were a public health expert, my first concern would be to get people vaccinated, but if vaccines continue to lose efficacy, might be time to tell people to hop on the treadmill.

The data I have seen is not clear that it's the unvaccinated spreading Covid...  In fact, I've seen data in certain areas showing that more than 3/4's of hospital visits relating to Covid are from vaccinated individuals.  I would say to hop on the treadmill first before injecting yourself with experimental drugs, but I guess being in basic shape with some regular fitness is something we only mandate for our children these days?  Maybe instead of mandatory vaccinations to go outside, we should start requiring people to run a 1/3 of a mile every day and drink 2 glasses of water.  I think that would be much more effective than the vaccines for overall society, wouldn't cost us trillions of dollars while debasing our currency, and is a pretty damn simple thing for human beings to be able to do.  If not, you need to exercise more than anyone.
7690  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Most important person alive? on: August 12, 2021, 02:52:11 AM
I think it's important to remember that nobody is irreplaceable.  However, that being said, given the extreme amount of money held and his desire to make mankind a multiplanetary species while also switching us from gasoline powered internal combustion engines to electric cars, it seems like Elon Musk would certainly win the MVP for mankind this year if such a thing were to exist currently.

You can always argue that the President of the US is the most important person alive given the power he wields, but I think at this point we all know that position is more easily replaceable than most of us are at our day jobs.
7691  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 12, 2021, 02:44:30 AM
I was watching Pomp's podcast today and even Peter Schiff thinks that Bitcoin is going to break over $100K this year.  Everyone in finance seems to know what's coming, which on one hand is reassuring that so many people are aware of so much money headed towards the Bitcoin market, but on the other hand markets have a way of doing exactly the opposite of what everyone thinks will happen right at the time it costs people the most money.  We'll see which scenario plays out, but I'm firmly on the side of us seeing a six figure Bitcoin price in the next 4 months.

Your website seemed simple to understand and easy to use while also being informative for new users who might not understand what a satoshi is or how it related to Bitcoin (besides it's now famous creator).  I appreciate your effort.  It's great to see new websites pop up that offer insight into Bitcoin.  Good luck with future development and thanks for posting here to let people know what you're working on.  I look forward to seeing more updates as time passes.
7693  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Americans will burn in hell for eternity on: August 12, 2021, 01:40:10 AM
The people of the U.S. have struck a bargain with Satan where a special area in hell has been reserved just for them.

As they have achieved their end of the deal by committing more evil than any other peoples throughout history, the vast majority of Americans will enjoy a slightly cooler area in the fire-pit where they will burn eternally.

I have not struck such a bargain and don’t like being lumped into such nonsense. Every time Satan has tried to lure me into bargains I have always refrained to avoid the fiery demise you describe. Many Americans have committed no evil at all and are just regular people trying to enjoy their lives the best they can with their given circumstances.
7694  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: August 12, 2021, 01:34:42 AM
Tesla Cybertruck delay confirmed, now coming in 2022

I guess that it's even more delayed than you guys would think?

Elon said he didn’t want to start delivering them until he could do so at scale to avoid million dollar resales on the secondary market. The main factor for me will be how many people cancel their preorders. The $100 deposit is nothing but when it comes time to plunk down $70K you might see the numbers thin a bit. That is my hope anyway. I’d love to see a >50% cancellation rate so that there’s a chance I could get mine in 2022.
7695  Economy / Securities / Re: The magical days of classical bitcoin securities on: August 11, 2021, 09:03:30 PM
Curious if any bitcointalk securities old timers still even check this forum.

I do.  I'm also one of the few people left around here that has experience with each of the mentioned schemes.

It is interesting to think we're witnessing the same events repeating over and over again at larger scale.  Also of note is that while a vast majority of the old "classical bitcoin securities" were indeed nothing more than scams, I can personally say that their harm spread to legitimate offerings as well.  NastyFans for example, I consider to have been a 'baby thrown out with the bathwater' as a result of the widespread scamming in this community.  When I think of what could have been built if people had trusted the right individuals, it really makes the current state of the trust network here beyond depressing.  Being one of the few that experienced all of this and lived to tell the tale, I can say that it is unlikely we'll ever witness that golden era of community supporting developers with new projects here again.  There are just too many people focused on negativity that are unable to create anything of value and instead focus their energy on teaming up to gain control for their own nefarious purposes (typically to have control over getting their alt accounts into signature campaigns).

Anyway, getting back on topic, I worry that maybe as these "same events" repeat themselves, there may be a danger of Bitcoin being the baby thrown out with the bathwater next.  Toxicity is difficult to contain...
7696  Other / Meta / Re: Do You Believe a New Forum Software Will Attract More Users to Bitcointalk? on: August 11, 2021, 08:47:49 PM
I think that so many times have passed that the epochtalk, idea behind the epochtalk and everything related to a "new forum software" is already old and we have to really work on a new one. Bitcointalk needs full, enormous change in a better way or this forum will turn into a digital museum where the legend has born.

We need a new forum with brand new features and capabilities, kinda a mix of stackoverflow, github and reddit with some exchange elements (at least it should carry btc price in live). It can be a great PR if bitcointalk has academy or publishes course on coursera, in my mind this website has huge potential but in a way it is represented today.

There was an idea of bitcoin land by theymos that was requiring enormous amount of money but the idea of developing this forum is 100% achievable, the man was thinking about island after all.

Are you saying that they should give up on epochtalk and start from scratch designing a new forum?  If so, thank you for the smile.  Smiley  The idea that the "new forum software" has taken so long to be developed that it needs to be scrapped and a new forum design started is funny to me.  It probably shouldn't be, but it is.  Reminds me of traffic problems playing Sim City as a kid.  You quickly learn that addressing traffic by building more roads is the best way to create more traffic problems.

A site that charges 10$ for btc withdrawal fees and then sends the withdrawal with 50cent in fees is very trustworthy.

It appears the withdrawal fees have been significantly reduced unless I'm mistaken.  It looks as though they are now below a dollar.  I know this had been discussed in the past, and I'm sure they were waiting until they felt it was safe to do so.  I think that time is upon us, so for gamblers of lower amounts or those that are continuously moving funds off the site, this is no doubt a welcome change.  I appreciate it and know they didn't have to do this, so I am thankful for their effort in making sure that every aspect of the user experience is constantly being improved.

You literally just copied the PGP message from the post above yours.  You either made a copy/paste error with your alt account, or you tried to purposely scam this thread for some merit.  Either way, you're not only ignored by me now, but I hope that whatever signature campaign scam you're running gets exposed by this.

That picture say it all  Wink until know him and his agent are thinking what they've done wrong, a huge amount of money that being wasted.
I read a post that his family and agent was urging him to take the $84 million deal offered by Lakers so that's probably all on him. He's lucky he still gets to play for 5 million after all that happened.

At least he's wise enough to make it a one-year only deal but I don't know if he will have enough playing time to prove his worth for the next free agency. He'll be overshadowed by Marcus Smart.

Greed pure and simple.  He is a marginal player, and getting offered and turning down $85million is rediculous.  He couldn't really expect to get top nba tier salary does he?  I think they avoided a disaster at even offering $85mil.  Maybe next time he will accept:)

I doubt there will be a next time. The Lakers had no business even making that offer. He was a pain in the ass diva while on the team who complained about his role and thought he should be handling the ball more than LeBron James. Gotta give it to him for his self confidence, but he clearly overestimated his value as he balked at an $84 million offer and I don’t think other teams will be taking a chance on him anywhere near that price again.
7700  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Are Physical bitcoins over $50 worth it ? on: August 11, 2021, 06:58:31 PM
If not wanting to destroy a collectible is what keeps you from selling and gets you to hold long term, then it’s worth it. I know I paid quite a bit more in BTC for my Casascius collection than it’s worth currently, but it’s still the second best investment of my lifetime. No doubt that BTC would have been spent on less appreciating goods had I not had it stored on Casascius coins, so it’s hard to be mad about the extreme USD value appreciation even if it could have been higher if left in BTC.
