LOL that's the first time I saw a player who isn't even in the game get a yellow card. What a douchebag though, kicking the ball away to waste time.

What game was that I must have missed it
Russia Defeated by the Algerians meaning that the spots are settled for this bracket
7702  Economy / Securities / Re: Havelock Securities At A Glance: The SRS BZNZ Edition on: June 26, 2014, 09:45:47 PM
Thanks for a beautiful chart Notlambchop
Can't argue with the facts there looks fine to me
A link to each asset would be nice as well but might make the chart a bit obtuse.

* To be fair you should add satoshidice since it was on havelock for a while as a pass-thru and made profit.
7703  Economy / Economics / Re: Working in USA on: June 26, 2014, 09:38:33 PM
I am about to finish a masters degree in business administration from UK and thinking to work in USA? Can anybody guide me right to the current employment conditions in the country? Few years back, companies in the country were laying off employees.. Is that still continuing ?

I would say come over to Canada and the oil field since they always need some business entrepreneurs here
That said BP's homebase and local division is in the UK so you might get a better nibble applying there.

Algeria goal for the tie this game gets interesting as the picture changes yet again.
Russia might make the next goal or Algeria still a good 30 minutes left in this match
https://www.google.ca/?gws_rd=ssl#q=algeria+standings

Algeria needs a tie/win
Russia needs a win to advance

Although I just noticed that Korea Republic and Belgium are playing so there is a wildcard here if Korea beats Belgium and this game ends a tie
They would need more goals though to make a difference.
7705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rise and Rise of Bitcoin on: June 26, 2014, 09:09:44 PM

3. Mining will always be profitable, for someone. No need for transaction fees.

It is possible (and likely) that enough bitcoins will be mined to make mining for the block reward unprofitable. I believe that the result is that mining will stop completely if there are no transaction fees.

If any miners stop mining under the current system, then the remaining miners become more profitable. That feedback doesn't exist in your system.

This in a deflationary system there is a positive feedback loop as the remaining miners become more profitable causing a stabilization of the hash.
That sort of feedback does not exist in the inflationary loop.
7707  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we in a bear trap? on: June 26, 2014, 08:54:32 PM
We're in a bear market, not a bear trap.

The same was said in agoust 2013 when we were heading 90s and then suddenly the market started to go way up.

A fair observation this could be a trap before the market moves upwards again
Then again with Bitcoin it feels like it could just suddenly (as in rapidly) start to move upward quickly at any time.
7708  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: June 26, 2014, 08:43:31 PM
Well we are almost at the half
Looks like Russia will maintain its 1-0 lead against Algeria for now
Wonder how this will turn out though still a close enough game.
7709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of all coins on: June 26, 2014, 08:42:27 PM
The future of all coins is to evolve into next generation systems that do more than transactions
But also evolve to do derivatives colored shares decentralized stock exchanges and storage

7710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union would include bitcoins if they were "regulated" on: June 26, 2014, 08:37:57 PM
A central bank issuing Bitcoins that defeats the point of Bitcoin and I think they are well aware that bitcoin is superior for sending.
They were better off just saying if the regulatory environment changes around them we would consider using them
Geez they are getting outmoded and falling behind at this rate they might end up being Polaroid unless they build a new model in the next few years.
7711  Economy / Economics / Re: Quantitative Easing on: June 26, 2014, 11:07:44 AM

Japans a bit weird in that their debt is larger than their GDP by a significant amount but people trust that their money will not be lost or stolen in the system or the currency will collapse.
Benefits of having your own citizens holding the debt still to get ROI would be a significant challenge for them and they can't really print money to increase their debt so its a bit of a conundrum.

Debt larger than GDP is fine. A more meaningful measurement would be the country income vs debt level. So long as the country has good income via export and service, the debt can be expected to be paid back.

I should have clarified a bit more on that
Here is a neat info graphic on what I meant in relative terms
http://demonocracy.info/infographics/usa/world_debt/world_debt.html

Total debt ratio is about 250% to GDP but your right Income to Debt Repayment is around 55% and Interest is 2% of their debt ratio to GDP so its not that bad although I could point out Italy looks healthier based on that data so in part I guess its how strong you are in the world economy as well.
7712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Better Suited to Replace Stock Markets? on: June 26, 2014, 10:51:32 AM

Maybe colored coin can replace an actual stock certificate but who has those anymore?

Think Mastercoin, Sidechains and Ethereum for a few examples of possible implementations
A sidechain with a fixed value could easily allow for the flow of assets that have a fixed value back and forth on a blockchain
The ledger would record the transactions and miners get the incentive through a merge mine.
Mastercoin would raise capital on the blockchain and then have it converted to fiat as happened in the Maidsafe IPO
Ethereum promises those things but is still a developers gardenshed with the infrastructure and technology still being made.

Do you even trade stocks?   Without a market maker who matches orders?  How do you do stops,  limits and OCOs?   Can you see the other bids and ask coming from other exchanges?

Read a few whitepapers but simply put their is no need for a market maker in a decentralized market
There is separate layers where trades can occur from person to person or as part of the larger exchanges
Since trading is decentralized it occurs on various platforms at various times and their are only centralized locations where the trading commences based on trust (Think the ripple system)
Stops and limits can be done easily enough just a normal interface we communicate using that technology everyday just changing the underlying structure to it.

7713  Economy / Economics / Re: Quantitative Easing on: June 26, 2014, 10:43:38 AM

QE would need to be taken away very gradually.

Even with QE Japan has experienced deflation

QE in Japan doesn't work because price level has gone to unrealistic level. Property and security price are governed by yield and return of investment, if they go up to unsustainable level, the cost will of course need to go down. Printing a lot of money will only make smart money leave the country to seek better yield and reasonable ROI business.

7714  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Karpeles back to living large in one of the most expensive apartments in Tokyo on: June 26, 2014, 10:38:13 AM
When thinking of it. 16k usd pr. month for a flat. how long can he stay there pr. million usd?

1 million gives you 62 months which is 5 years.

Not sure of his age, but let's say he's 30 now and that he will die of a heart attack because of an unhealthy lifestyle at 58.

That means he needs to pay the rent for 28 more years which brings us to the ballpark of 5.4 million dollars. If he took 400 million, it seems like he can afford it, and even have some more to play with. What about some luxury travels, and some new cars? Perhaps he could join up with Kim Jong-un and Dennis Rodman? He could then release NKoin, and supervised by the milliitary of NK, it's pretty sure MK dicipline would improve, he might even benefit from daily exercise. And perhaps he could even buy a yacht and denouce all citizenships, and become a sailor of the high seas?

Watch as the story untolds, very soon!

I'm sure if Karpeles signed a movie deal and licensing agreement
Or a couple books about his time with Mtgox and the earliest days of Bitcoin someone would buy it and his royalties might add up to pay for it
Of course with raging shareholders/users grabbing all of the copies they can get and burning them with fire ^_^
*Shareholders meaning those who got left holding the goxcoins and now want reparations.
7715  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US police departments are increasingly militarised, finds report on: June 26, 2014, 10:30:44 AM
Nothing like a school bus followed by a police/military escort
They kind of looked like paramilitary troops or a Swat team
Guess that the world is becoming a lot more full of fear of the unknown and the police feel they need to stock up as well.
That or they get a lot of free stuff from mafia raids and are just recycling the equipment
Cars/Weapons Body armor stun grenades you name it at one time or another some cops somewhere raided it lol.
Also stun grenade in a babies face not cool not cool at all
7716  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 26, 2014, 10:15:04 AM
There just aren't any securities out there who give a decent return and the vast majority are ripoffs and scams. The days of 30% annual divs are going away for ever soon and just getting a solid few points will be phenomenal in the bitcoin space.

I agree with that.

A fair point can't just hide the coins in just-dice anyways the market will start moving when the dividend distribution begins in full tandem right now its just a holding position time when the shares are trading at pretty much break even or the value of chips and the company.
7717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 2.76 BTC Private Key Prize on: June 26, 2014, 05:02:09 AM
So that is a link to the private key
Inside is 2.76 BTC
Seems like a fun puzzle I wonder if someone will be able to solve it and if the color of tiles provide a clue to it

Edit in: read through the thread so there was kind of reminds me of a notpron puzzle although I doubt changing the ending of the file will do anything here or morse code translations although the minesweeper idea might be related hmm enigma (enigma code)
A bit too tricky for me but if you feel like taking a break and at the same time thinking of different patterns that might help with this puzzle shares this

7719  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Television - Mass Hypnotic Indoctrination on: June 26, 2014, 04:52:09 AM
The theme of television controlling your mind has been used in various mediums
Their is some truth to it in that if you control the media outlets you control the message
And what doesn't make the news can't be news now can it Smiley

Of course with two monitors one TV and one called a computer we got two hypnotic choices and one might be able to cancel the other out or amplify the signal XD.
7720  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wired: How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online on: June 26, 2014, 04:44:32 AM
Tor is a very secure system...

I don't think so...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_%28anonymity_network%29#Exit_node_eavesdropping

Quote
If you actually look in to where these Tor nodes are hosted and how big they are, some of these nodes cost thousands of dollars each month just to host because they're using lots of bandwidth, they're heavy-duty servers and so on. Who would pay for this and be anonymous?"

https://www.schneier.com/essays/archives/2013/10/attacking_tor_how_th.html

How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=362468.240

Numerous weaknesses in existing anonymous coins were detailed by me today:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=362468.msg7513111#msg7513111

Fair enough but unless your the Fed or a Cop it keeps you a bit more clothed in a sense than roaming around the internet naked without any form of anonymous protection.

The question anonymint was what type of privacy can a low level tech user (Not to technical or hard to use)
That a normal user can use to anonymize themselves easily.

I'm more under the idea a namecoin based or Ethereum based cryptography base system might do the trick but curious what your stop gap measures would be.
But zerocoin could work as well not sure what a crytonode is as a designation though.
Is it the tor equivalent of the end server encrypted?
