7721  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: my computer got hacked and my BTC and LTC is gone what can be done on: July 26, 2015, 01:15:57 PM
Well that really sucks.. cause anything transferred or any bitcoin transaction for that matter is non-reversible.

Unless the person who stole your bitcoin returns it to you out of some moral sympathy. I`d try to contact that person if its possible, and say hey you got me! I`ll send you $40 starbucks gift card or something along those lines or something, boasting his/her ego.

Hard lesson learned. Get a cold wallet.
+1
wise advice.

I dont think anything could be done if someone stolen it.
advise to get a cold wallet isnt the best in my opinion how to transfer funds from cold wallet? Isnt it much harder than doing hit wallet transfers?

The whole point is it takes more to get to the wallet.  Cold storage works amazing if don RIGHT.    Is it as quick as leaving up a hot wallet? No

But is it worth the extra time to be safe ... yes!    And you can still keep a hot wallet just make sure to use cold for most of your assets.
7722  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 0.25 BTC Giveaway! on: July 26, 2015, 12:43:15 PM
Win 0.25 BTC. Free to join.

How to join:

- answer a simple and short survey to unlock the contest page
- log into the contest
- visit an external page (1 point)
- refer others (+1 point if referral joins)

Please do not try to cheat the system.

This contest has just started and should end on August 1 should there be enough participants (minimum of 250 participants) needed. Please share to others.

Escrow service may be needed!

Hope you can join!

You are not going to get 250 people to do this in the next week in a chance of getting .25.   A 1/250 minimum meas a 0.00390625 percent chance of wining.... yea not good.

You need to change method say paying to complete X survey paying X per person.   The giveaway is misleading and was used to gain traffic.
7723  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: July 26, 2015, 12:37:51 PM
I always wanted to mine but never had enough resource. Over month, I have gathered around 0.11BTC from faucets and twitter giveaways, with which I want to buy hash power. The cheapest one I see around is offered by www.cloudmining.website, which is 0.001 BTC/GHs. But, before I invest, I'd like to know what people want to say about their experience about this service. As it seems, at current difficulty, I should reach ROI at 4 month. Please advise...

Update 30/03/2015: In fact, I invested 0.11BTC in this service and have already made ROI. Smiley

Update 11/07/2015: They are paying consistently for more than eight months now and they publish the blockchain payment proof - www.cloudmining.website/payments.php. Moreover, according to a third party cloud mining monitor, www.CloudMining.website delivered ROI within ~114 days...

[Suspicious link removed]/i/2015/03/02/cmmonitor1.png[/img]

Conclusion: Initially, I took them with a grain of salt, but, after eight months, I can definitely say, they are trustworthy...

My personal experience with two cloud mining sites tell that you must be very careful with cloud mining. Every cloud mining site pay until the day they disappear. So no such good facts before that date show that someday the site will take your bitcoins and will disappear. Better find other ways to multiplies your bitcoins and that bitcoin you have it will be good to save in your wallet.

That poster really does not like me with that site.  I have asked many times.... they say they show costs.  They do not show fees anywhere!

What legit cloud mining operation does not list fees before buying.   (Electrical, maintenance, etc).  Also I have asked pictures of datacenter, and what company gear is being used.... no anwsers there ever.
7724  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: July 25th to Aug 8th diff thread (temp) on: July 26, 2015, 12:34:07 PM
Thanks for setting it up, I did not want to impose on you.

Looks like the summer heat has not put diff into negative drops. My guess is companies are swapping older gear with newer gear.

I think you are right on with this.   Look at bitmain's next batch of S5's "[Second Hand] ANTMINER S5 BATCH 7" .    I am really afraid of this and wish they would explain more.

I'm worried they sell used S5's clean out data centers then keep first X numbers of what ever miner is next for them.  So the S5 goes to a hobby miner, and a data center gets an upgrade.

Again all hypothetical for all I know these are just warranty ones that were fixed and I am reading to much into it.

And not a problem at all enjoy your vacation!
7725  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 26, 2015, 12:28:20 PM
Looks like S5b7 shipping was pushed back a week, from July 29th to August 5th.

Biggest suprise reading it "[Second Hand] ANTMINER S5 BATCH 7"  ....  I just wonder what second hand really means.

When they ran a miner during a batch it was still described as new.   Second hand... think it's coming from data centers wanting to unload whall it's still top product there?

What's everyone's guess?

im guessing its data centers that got first shot on the s7s and they had some trade in

selling the "used" s5s at full price is really shady..

That would do a good amount of gain of difficulty.  Old gear goes to home user and data center got new gear, no gear comes offline.

Honestly this scenario scares the crap out of me.  If they let the big customers with entire data centers sell back gear.   It would make it where the hobby miner is one who is cheated.

Would also mean what ever is next the first X amount (huge amount) goes to the data centers they get these S5's from.

I just want this scenario to be wrong... but I'm afraid.
7726  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: July 26, 2015, 11:37:31 AM
cloudmining today is either scam, not profitable or both. I'd stay away from it, there are better investments with high risk / decent rewards

Could you please suggest some better investments with high risk / decent rewards ?

Mining where it is cheap electricity, or a good cloud sites.  Not all are scams, I trust two personally sadly yes most are scams.

But other is investing in altcoins (highly risky), or other trading.  Or if you have a good skill you can sell it to others here.

7728  Other / Meta / Re: Account Locked. Please unlock. on: July 26, 2015, 11:18:08 AM
If you emailed from an email that is not associated with the account, I'm more likely to skip it and put it at the end of the queue so I can have time to check it more thoroughly.

You can take your time but try to do it by today as I have to complete pending trades.

BadBear has helped me before he is very busy.  Sadly he has many things on his plate with forum.

I HIGHLY suggest asking and not telling when to have something done by with admins.   You have done your part, if you would have used associated email you would probley have it now.   So just relax and wait patient is best advice.
7729  Other / Meta / Re: False accusation that I am someone else on: July 26, 2015, 10:06:35 AM
i dont understand any of this.
i jsut want to use this account for signature, no dealing.
So do you admit that you are williamj?

It's either that or he's another one of his victims. I believe Badbear can easily check this out by ip records, but it's probable that he did just that
when he left that -ive feedback.

OP you should expose all info as when and from who did you bought that account, it's the only way you atleast have the chance to clean that .ive rep up.

cheers
i bougth account from someone who was auctioning it, but i dont want to name name, dont want to get other people involved in this. i bought it just a couple days ago.

My best advice is find a different signature campaign.  No matter if you stories are true or not, the neg will keep you out of Bit-X.  So go look into other ones.  Or maybe just post without one and let your account settle down, threads like this are not good.

And admitting you bought the account to be using it in sig campaign, I'm not sure you would be accepted even if you had positive trust.   It would be up to macro though as far as bit x.  But I cant imagine him supporting buying accounts.
7730  Other / Meta / Re: I wish we could ban buying & selling of accounts. on: July 26, 2015, 10:00:52 AM
I'm not a fan of people buying or selling accounts.  I think it abuses sig campaigns.  People say get account X and post X posts... then profit!  The main way to combat this is to screen accounts and look at history before letting in a sig campaign.

I know my rank I have spent a LOT of time on.   I wont lie I enjoy it saying hero compared to newbie, but i like for people to go through the ranks.

There are two main types of accounts in my head that are sold.  One is the farmer, these are easy to spot just short horrible posts.   These are raised in a group by someone.  Then sadly after last compromise there are some that are from hack.  These you might see a long span between posts (A gap from when account wen inactive and then when it was used again).

Now the big question what can we do?   Sadly not a whole lot.

7731  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to mining, what hardware do i need on: July 26, 2015, 09:52:34 AM
I'd order a GekkoScience Compac if you're just a beginner.  The smaller USB miners would do just fine as well, but they cost about the same (or even more) while being less powerful, or are very cheap (Block Erupter USB) but woefully underpowered.

That or pick up a second-hand AntMiner S3, S1 or Spondoolies-Tech SP20.  These are more powerful miners, but they are rather physically larger, require a dedicated PSU, have fans that whirrr, etc.
( There's plenty other miner models, these are just popular as second-hand options and generally available somewhat cheap. )

That is, if you want to get into beginners' mining at all.  If you're looking to turn a profit, be prepared to do the math on purchase price, upkeep costs (including electricity), expected BTC returns, any potential resale value, etc. and taking a gamble on that being a better route than just buying BTC outright, or keeping your fiat in your pocket / bank account / stocks.

This is best on the market.   If your wanting a stick just to learn I highly suggest GekkoSciences product.    It is a decent price to learn BTC mining, do your own ROI math.   I might say a lot of usb miners do it for fun.

Going with a new one here is a good idea aswell.  You can get a block erupter with much less power for cheaper, but some of the old stick miners hold a surprising value.
7732  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / July 25th to Aug 8th diff thread on: July 26, 2015, 09:49:28 AM
Setting up a difficult thread for us who enjoy speculating for this week Smiley.   This thread is temporary once Phil get's back out of respect this thread will be locked and conversation go in his thread.

Bitwisdom Currently:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    52,278,304,846
Estimated Next Difficulty:    53,021,845,756 (+1.42%)
Adjust time:    After 1897 Blocks, About 13.1 days
Hashrate(?):    385,112,057 GH/s

Coinbase is around 289.   So again not bad for miners.  Mild changes and slow rise in BTC.
7733  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LKETC 5T 1000W is it real? on: July 26, 2015, 09:43:08 AM
let's wait and if the price tag shows a 3k.. then they will take my money!

First 1T dragons were in this area (think first batch might have been a tad higher).   It's really hard to say what price will be.   LKETC got good at selling even at lower price as product went down to less then 1/3 of original price and down even more.

A lot will depend on competition.  Who has next get chips and what the are doing.  We need multiple next gen fighting for business for best customer prices.
7734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: my computer got hacked and my BTC and LTC is gone what can be done on: July 26, 2015, 09:40:09 AM
What can be done?

Not a darn thing.... that is what.

These are the 'joys' of bitcoin being pseudononymous and transactions irreversible.

Happy days for criminals.

..

(I love bitcoin and the underlying tech but really.... some of the supposed 'benefits' I just really cannot see as net benefits for none-criminals at all)

A lot can be done actually.   For one never keep a lot in hot wallets this solves a lot of problem's.  Cold wallets are where your wealth should be.

Also if you have a hot wallet don't surf stupid sites, open bad emails, etc.  If you do chances are eventually you lose some.

Look into cold storage and encryption.

#1 with PCIE 6pin on 400W PSU
#2 with two 4pin -> one 6pin adapter on 400W PSU
#3 with two 4pin -> one 6pin adapter on 400W PSU
#4 with two 4pin -> one 6pin adapter on 350W PSU
...
I'd guess that one problem is that you are sharing power on one board.

You should power one side with one PSU and the other side with the other PSU

The above setup says one side with one PSU and the other side with both PSUs

400 watt (i'm guessing bronze) and i you are using a high freq on S3 is not best setup.  It just is very close on power needs vs what your giving it depends on freq.

What are the adapters?  Can you take a picture most PCIe adapters suck and are not made for miners.

the 4pin to 6pin adaper is like this
and the wire is all 18awg
thanks !

It's still molex to pcie....  bad idea.  Toss the crap PSU.   It just is not good idea.

Now get a decent psu that has enough PCIE without the molex to pcie.   Your asking for trouble using those.

7739  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 25, 2015, 03:20:12 PM
Someone posted this on bitcointalk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1134060.0), I have never heard of them before and it looks like they haven't been around that long from the twitter account.

I also do not see any good company info

They claim to be selling sfards miners http://www.itop-corp.com/

Looks fishy to me

I suspect not to be real they show stock: Units in Stock:100

If they had some I don't see that site having backing for 100 units.   Were talking around 100k usd or more... i don't see it.   Also  the site is weird as far as variety of items.
7740  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: First BTCJam loan request. Don't know what to think on: July 25, 2015, 03:12:48 PM
Hi everybody, I just made my first loan request on BtcJam. My creditscore is low and I really can't do anything about it, because I can't verify my bank account, looks like it is difficult for bulgarian residentials. I really don't know what to think and wanted to ask you guys if someone has more experience than me. Cheers!

how much do you have to pay back? i mean the profit part how much is the profit

I'll pay back around 1.7 btc divided in 9 weekly payments of 0.19, which equals to 70% profit.

Honestly your better off saving and just buying.  Some advice though to hopefully help.  First stop gambling, you will never win long term.  Second on investing go slow see how it goes, you can lose a lot if investing wrong.

I (and I would guess others) would ask why do you need the BTC right now?   70 percent interest is likely more then you will make with  the 1 btc.  Your better off not taking this load, and saving and buying btc on your own.
