7781  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you bullish or bearish this year? on: July 27, 2021, 11:57:11 PM
The stock to flow chart makes it difficult to be bearish. I’d say the odds of BTC hitting $100,000 are better than hitting $20,000 at this point and it’s very likely the next 5 months are going to get wild. Stay away from leverage and enjoy the ride. Who knows how many more of these bubbles we’ll see.
7782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 27, 2021, 09:48:44 AM
Top best:
Quote
1. Danny Crawford, who got 30 votes.
2. Joey Crawford (no relation), with 25 votes.
3. Monty McCutchen, with 13 votes.
Top worst:
Quote
1. Scott Foster, with 24 votes.
2. Lauren Holtkamp, with 14 votes.
3. Marc Davis, with 12 votes.
I think the deep reason was he never do conversations with whoever is trying to correct him. He doesn't admit his mistakes unlike other officials.

I love it when Joey Crawford is the referee of a game I’m watching. That guy takes no shit and does a great job. The players seem to like and respect him as well. He’s gotta be getting pretty old so if he is still going I imagine it won’t be for much longer, then I’ll be searching for my new favorite NBA referee.
7783  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: July 27, 2021, 02:42:06 AM
You will be lucky to get in for December 2022.

I put in a preorder for 100 bucks.

Sadly this is true.  According to the Cybertruck Owners Club Reservation Tracker if there are no cancellations ahead of me in line, I'm looking at an estimated delivery date in the Summer of 2023.  I can only hope that a lot of those early orders were just for fun and when it comes time to make payment we see a lot of cancellations, otherwise this may be a longer journey that I had originally anticipated.

Welcome to the club.  When did you place your preorder and what model did you opt for?
7784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The attack is 51%. The Bitcoin killer. on: July 27, 2021, 02:08:13 AM
I don't think a successful 51% attack would kill Bitcoin at this point nor do I think anyone capable would be willing to attempt it.  It would take a great deal of equipment and money to pull off such a thing.  I do like the idea of governments with massive amounts of hashrate closely monitoring chains for any sort of forking while they wait for a massive transaction to receive confirmations.  Makes me think of the new Loki show and divergent timelines being managed by the timekeepers...
7785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: July 27, 2021, 01:56:16 AM
The best part about this thread is that the word "first" is included in it.  While Paraguay, Brazil, & Mexico all are likely to see some sort of bill put together involving Bitcoin it looks like next up for full adoption may be Panama.  I don't have any inside information or anything like that, but from what I've read it appears that Panama may see adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender before the end of the year.  I can only imagine things may accelerate from there, especially if adoption by these counties is showing a positive effect on their population.
7786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a gambler? on: July 27, 2021, 01:50:33 AM
These days I wouldn't classify myself as a gambler.  I did hear a phrase the other day I liked that went something like...  When two men have a disagreement the next word should be 'bet'.  Not a bad way to operate.

If I were to try and classify my status as a gambler, I would say that I am but a man who enjoys the added happiness that comes with exclaiming, "give me my money!" after a sporting event.
7787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You got a pifzer ? Then you can be eligible for lottery in Poland. on: July 27, 2021, 01:47:48 AM
I wonder if somewhere there's a gambling addict who has been jabbed a couple dozen times with fake identification information in the hopes they win this lottery?  I'd like to think no, but we all know it's probably happened.  I'm a bit shocked that governments are resorting to what amounts to preying on those with mental health problems and those who are bad at math in order to entice people to do what they want.  Makes you wonder why they think bribing people for wanted behavior is acceptable and where they got that idea from.
7788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 27, 2021, 01:44:50 AM
Its just funny that CP3 really is 0-12 when the game is being officiated by Scott Foster. We might think that there is a bit of biased on it but we can't say it without proofs at all.

Nice trivia, I don't know that, however, I still believe that the Suns did not lose because of the officiating, that's too unfair for the Bucks because we saw how they bounce back from the first two losses and they have dominated the Suns already winning the next 4 games. Maybe next time CP3 has to be friendly with the refs especially with Scott Foster so the curse will be broken.

I think it's just a coincidence. Scott Foster's won't do such a thing or it will cost him his career. It's not easy to look for a job when you are at that age.

I believe it's 13 playoff losses straight now after game 6 and an overall playoff record of 2-16.  Sad for sure and hard to discount.  You could maybe say that Scott Foster calls fouls in a way that hurts CP3, but something is definitely up there.  The only way to justify the statistic and not think Scott Foster should be fired is if he's doing it on their behalf, which is where all the conspiracy theories come from.  I haven't heard Chris Paul comment on it at all, but I suspect it will be in his documentary once he retires.
7789  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Manipulation in Binance Futures Trading on: July 27, 2021, 01:40:05 AM
I saw people discussing this on Twitter but nobody said their positions were liquidated based on that price either, so it doesn't seem like there was any wrongdoing.  If there was evidence of users having their positions liquidated as a result of that inflated price then you would have reason for complaint.  As of now I would guess that maybe they have a secondary dark market for whales based on different liquidation rules, or it was some sort of derivative that was triggered.  A simple bug shouldn't be overlooked either though.
7790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What More Should Satoshi Do? on: July 27, 2021, 01:30:39 AM
Tell me, what more should Satoshi do???

Stack in my wallet.dat along with all his buddies.  Wink

More seriously addressing your question, we are all satoshi, and we owe it to ourselves to continue to try and change the world for the better even if it is inconvenient or may not benefit us as much as alternatives.  Remember that satoshi didn't create Bitcoin to get rich.  He knew his time was running out.  He wanted to change the world for the better.
7791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon Bitcoin Poll on: July 27, 2021, 12:40:40 AM
I think they’ll definitely have BTC on their balance sheet and that will come before they accept it for payment. If I were in charge anyway the play would be simple. Add BTC to balance sheet, make announcement to accept it for goods, sell initial investment when it’s massively profitable, slowly earn your BTC back with sales.
7792  Economy / Goods / Re: Get 3D printed parts in ASA, PETG, CF PLA with BTC - Worldwide Shipping on: July 26, 2021, 11:04:30 PM
I merited this thread and for all I know the seller is 100% legitimate.  It should probably be noted though that they refused to use escrow when attempting to sell some silver on a different thread which is usually a red flag against sellers in this community.  Always be careful and use escrow if you aren't aware of the reputation of the person you are dealing with.  The thread I'm mentioning is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5349490.0 and I would advise users to review it before sending any payments directly.
7793  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: July 26, 2021, 10:58:39 PM
Although, it would be pretty neat to have a Bitcoin MrBeast type channel, I feel the kind of investment that would be needed at first, wouldn't be easily covered, and I doubt forum funds would be used for it. Pretty cool idea though, and would definitely be an interesting approach.

It could grow over time and I'm sure sponsors would be willing to help out.  I certainly wouldn't expect the forum to hit the ground running and give away a house on the first video although it would certainly be doable.  Speaking from a Donator's perspective about using forum funds (not that my opinion matters at all), I would definitely rather see my 10 BTC donation go towards helping those in need as opposed to building new forum software that we don't need.

A podcast is a cool idea too.  I'd watch it if it regularly featured new members from the community and would probably be willing to be interviewed for it (not that I'd be asked), as I'm sure many others here would as well.
7794  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are you a healthy unvaccinated person? on: July 26, 2021, 10:49:59 PM
I'd like to think of myself as a healthy person (physically anyway, mentally may be up for debate on this forum).  Certainly I don't consider myself to be in the bottom 0.1% of healthy individuals that would be at risk of death from Covid.  I feel like for the sake of humanity and not becoming a helpless species dependent on science and medical intervention to keep from going extinct, I should probably stay natural in my fight against this Covid foe.  If I die, I die.  It's not like I have any disillusions about the fact that I am going to die.  I'd always hoped I'd die from getting eaten by sharks on vacation or saving a helpless child/animal from death, but we can't all have an awesome end to our story.  I'm willing to risk the awesome end of mine in order to do what I believe in.

Quoting the late Earl Simmons, "I stand for what I believe in. Even if what I believe in stops me from breathing."
7795  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Olympics is a disaster on: July 26, 2021, 10:42:21 PM
I haven't even seen any of the Olympics this year.  Perhaps the time difference is a bit more than I'm used to, but I'm not even seeing highlights on my favorite sporting shows.  Other than a few clips on Twitter, I wouldn't know the Olympics is happening.  This seems to just be a continuation of a downward trend made worse by Covid.  I can't help but think at some point the Olympic games will be attacked for being something that separates humanity instead of unites us with the way things are going.  I'm honestly surprised that liberals haven't taken the stance that the entire Olympic games is racist and should be boycotted.
7796  Economy / Economics / Re: What are the difficulties with Amazon accepting Bitcoin payments? on: July 26, 2021, 10:37:53 PM

Well, they can deny that all they want but they're hiring a blockchain expert so...

If they aren't planning to accept Bitcoin as payment, I would assume that means they are planning to add Bitcoin to their balance sheet.  Given Jeff Bezos' feud with Elon Musk, he probably views Bitcoin as a potential separator of their wealth.  For competition's sake, Jeff Bezos will have to take a stake equal or greater than Tesla's to ensure that his net worth doesn't get left behind Elon's in the event BTC makes a run into the triple digits and beyond.  I suspect other car makers will also have to follow suit to ensure they remain competition.

As far as the difficulties with accepting payments...  At this point it's pretty straight forward.  They can build a payment system or use someone like Coinbase to be an intermediary, but I suspect fees and the blocksize limit remain obstacles likely too great for Amazon to overcome in order to accept payments.  Maybe if the Lightning network takes off they would consider using that, but I don't think it is popular enough to make an impact to their business.  That's why I believe we'll see them first add Bitcoin to their balance sheet (maybe 1.5-2.5 billion dollars worth) and then see how feasible it is for them to accept it.  This is the point in the game where Lightning needs to step up and prove it's ready for primetime or else we will start to see a push to make changes to the blocksize limit that will make Roger Ver's efforts look incredibly reasonable in comparison.
7797  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] Roobet.com Signature Campaign | The Honest Online Casino | Full Members+ on: July 26, 2021, 10:29:25 PM
I just wanted to say that I'm a big fan of SteveWillDoIt and seeing him promote Roobet has been one of the cooler sponsorships I've seen come out of crypto.  Granted I am not a big fan of the paid gambling streams that have kids thinking they can gamble their way to millions, but still, great content.  It makes me think the people behind Roobet are pretty cool folks who like to party, but also support giving away tons of money to strangers in need, which is awesome.  Big thanks to Roobet for helping make crypto cool.  I like the Lamborghini they got for Happy Dad seltzer as well.  Smiley
7798  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why newbies lose huge money in trading on: July 26, 2021, 10:25:08 PM
Markets are increasingly good at separating money from the impatient and giving it to the patient.  Newbies that enter trading all seem to have the same goal.  Getting rich.  They think the more they trade the more likely they are to stumble on the next big thing, not realizing that the only one profiting are the market makers.  Once they've been around long enough, they see that it's the patient long term plays that make people wealthy and become investors instead of traders.  That's when they shed their newbie status and start making money.
7799  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: July 26, 2021, 09:50:52 PM
I'd love to see some overwhelming positive content.  How about a MrBeast like channel?

For those unfamiliar, MrBeast gives away money, cars, houses, etc. to random people and those in need.  It's heartwarming positive content that popularizes the idea of giving away funds to help other people.  I think given the success of Bitcoin and this forum, I would personally love to see funds used to help others while encouraging and inspiring others to find the joy in giving.

Here's an example of his content, and one of my favorite videos: I Ordered Pizza And Tipped The House
7800  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 26, 2021, 08:32:24 PM
It’s official the liquidation numbers are in. Over $1 billion was liquidated yesterday on exchanges from newbies. Imagine shorting Bitcoin with leverage and thinking you didn’t just throw your money into a dumpster fire. Moment of silence for all the doubters who tried to profit from Bitcoin’s downfall. If you didn’t learn your lesson, feel free to reopen some short positions here.
