7781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: To Rank up is not suppose to be problem on: January 28, 2021, 10:04:07 AM
My primary agenda is to learn first not much inquisitive to earn merits but I know that with positive communication here and creativity someone can equally earn merit without been over conscious to earn merit ,I acknowledge your guidelines senior, one day I will rank up.

And still, interestingly, you already talk about merits and ranking up. Are you sure that all this is not intended as a reverse psychology attempt? Wink

Hah. This is just too common. Some of them even are like "I'm just new to this forum" but then for some reason they already know everything about merits to bounties to the heavy bans concerning plagiarism and such. Totally not an alt account at all. 🤔

It could be that. On the other hand, the account is 4 months old, time in which maybe he did nothing, maybe he did read a lot. I don't know, I can't tell for sure.
7782  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: FreeBitcoin deposit interest on: January 27, 2021, 04:57:39 PM
I definitely get why someone wouldn't deposit Bitcoin somewhere that he has no access to. And we're generally speaking here, not only in FreeBitcoin, despite being the oldest and most trusted faucet. However, I don't think that a 4.08% interest is that insignificant. I haven't seen a bank here with that kind of interest lol.

Bitcoin still has the potential to rise maybe even 10x or more. Compared to that 4.08% is insignificant, especially considering the risks.

I mean that no matter how old and reputed the website is, it's still a 3rd party and ... "not your keys, not your coins" - anything can happen, from theft to inside job and exit scam, no matter who are we talking about. Of course, the chance is usually small, however it makes the 4.08% benefit insignificant.
7783  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Sync your blockchain easily! on: January 27, 2021, 04:08:41 PM
  • Blocks and chainstate ... nobody sane would use it, sorry  Smiley
  • bootstrap may be risky too and also download + indexing may take just as long as a proper wallet run
  • Addresses with balance - these could be useful for some and you may discuss with LoyceV since he's also offering download link for this, I think that he is downloading it from a much slower source and maybe you guys should work together instead of competing in this area.
7784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Joe Biden's Picks for SEC, Treasury Will Impact Crypto on: January 27, 2021, 03:51:22 PM
it's all been a soup of feel-good melodrama for Bitcoin and crypto.

Perhaps some minor movement on markets,

A couple percents of news/FUD fueled minor movements here and there can make millions to the traders that can spread and make use of them. So it's not to be underestimated.
Still all this noise cannot cover the effects the halving and the sound of the money printing machines from all over the world.
7785  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which virtual card does not freeze accounts? on: January 27, 2021, 03:38:34 PM
If you plan to only use crypto and you are asking who is not freezing account only because you use crypto, then maybe crypto debit cards is what you are looking for.
But most of those don't offer virtual cards and their availability depends on the country you live in.
You could start with [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards then ask the community more about them. Binance, Wirex, AdvCash, crypto.com, or Coinbase can be some of the options I know of which could have more users.
7786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High possibility major governments will BAN Bitcoin in the near future on: January 27, 2021, 02:36:01 PM
The major governments of the world have for some time been laying the groundwork for their own national cryptocurrencies. Does that matter? Yes, it matters a lot. Bitcoin will be a direct competitor.

No. The national crypto will be a digital version of their currencies. Not related to Bitcoin (they are centralized, Bitcoin is decentralized), no competition with Bitcoin.
The actual competitors, those who have to be scared of these moves should be major card companies, Visa and Mastercard, not Bitcoin.
7787  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC drop an opportunity to buy on: January 27, 2021, 02:05:25 PM
The market is in much higher demand, although this may not be the case at the moment

From what I've read yesterday between the lines (but unfortunately I don't remember exactly where), there are Options that will expiring these days and usually then the price may get affected by big scale speculation.
So I could say that at least previous week and this one are "unnatural". Let's see afterwards if the high demand will become visible again or not and only then we should get to conclusions.
7788  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best exchange out there??? on: January 27, 2021, 01:35:14 PM
I want to be able to deposit money and act fast, not wait 3 days.

Maybe in this case buying with credit card would be the choice for you. But beware, it's usually more expensive than bank transfer.

For transfer, I don't know and I would not expect to see Binance has better banking support than Kraken. So I'd simply pick something that uses the services of an UK bank (but unfortunately I don't have a good example or recommendation for you)
7789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Joe Biden's Picks for SEC, Treasury Will Impact Crypto on: January 27, 2021, 06:27:28 AM
US is not China. Whatever changes will be, there will not be big.
And what could affect? The price? The world is discovering crypto and US was always afraid to not remain behind.
I don't think that anything big will be done against crypto.

I see all this only usual newspaper noise.
7790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here's Why Ethereum Could Beat Bitcoin As Best Asset Of 2021 on: January 26, 2021, 09:34:16 AM
Every week the same topic is take out? Ethereum has not chance to "beat Bitcoin". In order to have your dream come true 2 things have to happen:
  • Ethereum get to the point it can properly handle the load (i.e. lower the fees). No matter how you try to market them, they are still abnormal. (maybe possible to fix in the future)
  • Something extremely bad has to happen in Bitcoin, like a (real) flaw that makes people lose money. (good luck with that).
7791  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Version 4.0.9 don't work on OS X 10.11 on: January 26, 2021, 07:32:31 AM
but what is the latest version of Electrum compatible with OS X 10.11

You are in luck.
Latest version for 10.11 is 3.3.8. You can see on internet archive that 3.3.8 was 10.11 and 4.0.4 was 10.13.
I'm saying that you're in luck because versions older than 3.3.4 should not be used, but 3.3.8 is fine.
I have the download folder too for you: https://download.electrum.org/3.3.8/
7792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paper wallet help, Please! on: January 25, 2021, 04:34:05 PM
I've read that someone had thi problem some years ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/31ekyd/sweeping_my_large_paper_wallet_with_mycelium/
It was "fixed" by using Blockchain.com wallet, which I don't recommend ( I don't recommend online wallets).
But maybe you have a chance to try from a computer/laptop with a better wallet?
7793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if internet connectivity gets terminated on: January 25, 2021, 12:29:11 PM
what will happen with the banking process if there happens a termination of internet connectivity for few days time.

With no internet there's no mail, no whatsapp, no Visa/Mastecard and also no Bitcoin.
But you were expecting this answer.

But the internet is a complicated bunch of interconnected networks. Falling the whole internet is highly unlikely, and for those affected by the failure, bad luck.
It's already rather difficult/unlikely to have a failure for more than a street or a town and in the future it will become even more unlikely.
Also big companies do use the services of multiple internet providers, if one fails the backup is used in seconds.

All in all, there's maybe a chance that your wallet will be not useful for a while, but for the whole Bitcoin to fall due to whole internet going down, no, the chance is slim.
Maybe solar explosions can do that, but then Bitcoin will be the least of our concern.
7794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin had a Billion Max supply instead of 21 million.... on: January 25, 2021, 11:48:39 AM
Then how much you think the price of 1 btc be today?

The simple answer is that it's impossible to know. If this would be different, you don't know what else would have been different or somewhat affected by this difference, like the psychological factor for buying or selling Bitcoin.
I think that it's impossible to quantify what would be the price now. Imho it's not just simple math.
7795  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mnemonic Slots on: January 25, 2021, 10:13:00 AM
So it's a slot machine game for free where in theory you can win big and in reality you'll never win.
Well, it can be some sort of time waster for some, but I guess that all would get bored fast since they actually never win.
(So I agree, it's rather pointless).
7796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New form fine on: January 24, 2021, 05:14:30 PM
We need to give newcomers a chance in this forum. So if the system of paying fines to new registrars is called, then we can take this forum further. Embarrassed Lips sealed

The forum does give a fair chance to the newcomers.
But for this they have to post meaningful and useful things. Unfortunately for you, you don't do this. Even this question is so poorly written people don't understand what you mean and what you want.
Keep in mind that this is primarily a discussion forum, not a "earn some cents from bounties" forum.
7797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Technical help needed for XMR Mining on: January 24, 2021, 05:09:26 PM
Since you want XMR mining, I don't understand why you have started by asking in Bitcoin mining sub.
Please move your question into Altcoin mining sub.

About your question: did you look at the Getting Started page of your pool?
I've taken one random XMR pool and found out that they recommend xmrig; then, on xmrig website I've seen that it's a CPU and also GPU miner.

I don't know how good or legit the miner is, I don't mine XMR for many years now, however, I see it can handle NVIDIA too.
But please continue yourself from here onward with the reading: https://xmrig.com/docs/miner
7798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starve the beast - CSW on: January 24, 2021, 04:47:04 PM
There are thousands of small-sized cryptocurrency exchanges around and CSW can easily purchase a few dozen of them and keep his BSV shitcon floating

Do you really think that those small exchanges would be good enough for his ego? I don't think so.
Also, if the coin is not present at the top exchanges it becomes more obvious even to newcomers that's a lower rank coin.

No, if BSV would get out of all main exchanges it would be a hard blow for CSW, no matter what else will happen next.
7799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to transfer bitcoin from Bitcoin Core wallet.dat file to a hardware wallet on: January 24, 2021, 08:55:00 AM
Private key for address .... is not known (code -4). What does it mean and what am I doing wrong?

I think that you may have forgotten to provide first the password for the wallet (i.e. to unlock the wallet).

For example this is how you unlock for 600 seconds:
Code:
bitcoin-cli walletpassphrase "your_password" 600

And only then you should use dumpprivkey
Code:
bitcoin-cli dumpprivkey "your_address"

(Obviously, make sure you do this on a safe computer, since anyone getting access to your private key can spend your funds.)
7800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin has the lowest fee to transfer beside XRP? on: January 23, 2021, 05:24:32 PM
The transfer fee is one thing, the exchange's withdrawal fee is something else, hence, if you want to withdraw cheap, OP's best call would be to check at the exchanges he's using.
There's a good list of good candidates for cheap withdrawals. DOGE has to be checked, also XLM, WAVES and TRON networks usually have low fees too, and yes, check the other posts too and the list will get bigger.
