781  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: STOLEN btctalk username !!!!!! on: September 04, 2017, 09:12:34 AM
Does your account have old BTC addresses posted? If yes, then you could create a signed message from those addresses and PM a moderator of this forum. If they see substantial evidence to support that you have owned the account, I am sure that they will give it back to you.

Funny thing is that the account hasn't been logged into for almost 2 weeks now.

783  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think billionaires invest in BTC? on: September 04, 2017, 02:39:39 AM
I just always wonder if those billionaires still invest in btc. Do they even know btc exist?

Yes, I think they do. It would make sense for them to do so. Bitcoin is still emerging and is in its so called 'develpment' phase. From what we have seen in the past year, Bitcoin's price has increased dramatically all due to an incline in investments.
784  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User Lauda Blackmailed us even after getting 2.4 BTC on: September 03, 2017, 09:58:27 PM

This guy created fake lauda account on slack which can you see from his pictures.
Damn, I didn't even notice that. OP, are you retarded?

Looks like it.. I didn't notice that myself just until now. We should have a facepalm emoji just for these occasions.

What benefit do you have as a Newbie of framing Lauda. Maybe you are the alt amount of a scammer?
785  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam alert : Do NOT INVEST in Genesis Mining on: September 03, 2017, 03:55:43 AM
Cloud mining is there for a reason - only to make profit. Genesis isn't that stupid to 'lease' their equipment and mining hash rates to you for a cheaper price than they would be able to make. The money they make off you will forever be more than you will ever make through any profit. If they want to make a change, they will do just that through their terms and conditions. If you want to mine bitcoins, do it yourself - don't ever count or invest in an online cloud mining service.
786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Message to the guys, that didn't buy when BTC was worth 100$ on: September 03, 2017, 02:42:34 AM
I TOLD YOU!  Grin
No-one could have predicted that the price of bitcoin would have jumped to the all time high it is at today.

I will tell him that no one is perfect, and that no one has predicted this value of BTC during our days. However i read once a more shocking story for someone who has Bought a pizza with 10 000 BTC when it was equal to 0.5 USD.

Yes, I have also recently read this story.  Cheesy It is unbelievable. I personally know a friend of mine who bought bitcoins when they were 0.12 USD each and invested a total of $1000. He immediately sold after bitcoin hit 0.15 USD. Its sad to see how much money could have been made off that single investment.
787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why now is the time to invest in Bitcoin on: September 03, 2017, 02:35:30 AM
There are many reasons to invest in bitcoin, the main being that it is the first cryptocurrency to come into existence. As a result of this, many people have / want to invest in it. Since Bitcoin is built on a system of user trust, the more individuals that come and invest in it, the higher the price will be. The ever increasing price of bitcoin is one of its most attractive features that draw in new investors and users.
788  Economy / Exchanges / Re: cheapest place to bitcoin? on: September 03, 2017, 02:22:02 AM
I would suggest you buy off LocalBitcoins. It is a great site with most users being reputable and trustworthy. The fees usually aren't much when you are buying and selling, so it is worthy it to check out if you are interested. However, it is not a bot-operated website. (At least I do not think so, but don't quote me on that).

There are many other sites such as coinbase and other exchanges where you can get a decent price for bitcoins when buying with fiat.

When does this auction end?
790  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ICO SCAM] Karbon is just another ICO scam with a bot-posted thread on: September 01, 2017, 05:19:58 AM
What are my options if I was a victim of this scam? Thank you

Nothing.... At least nothing that I yet know of. You could launch a legal action against Karbon and their team, but it would cost too much, it would take too much time and in the end you might not even get back any money.

Try to use the knowledge you have learnt through this and make sure you look out for further scammers when investing into any ICO.
791  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: COINBASE is a big scam on: August 31, 2017, 10:59:08 AM
I have once had my translation of 0.1 BTC pending for 42 hours. I guess you just have to wait..

Does your transaction show up on the blockchain at all? If yes then you are in luck. Even if it doesn't Coinbase said they will return funds after 24 hours. Just use a hardware wallet - much better security and more reliable too.

0.004 to stay in competition. I might be able to use it and it is a decent price to ask.

Why not. I'll bid 0.003 ONLY if it is not sent via trans oceanic shipping. As that would take 2-3 months to get here from Finland. Can you confirm what method will be used?
794  Economy / Auctions / Re: FULL MEMBER BITCOINTALK ACCOUNTS on: August 30, 2017, 01:27:52 PM
Ooops.

I was meant to write, I bid 0.14, but I have changed my mind. I hope accounts are clean, but I do not want to go into account trading. Sorry...
795  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ICO SCAM] Karbon is just another ICO scam with a bot-posted thread on: August 30, 2017, 11:18:43 AM
ismart1, from what I can see from cryptodevil, he certainly has a lot on his hands. It is one of his main responsibilities to make this forum free of scammers so anyone could browse through it and invest with complete confidence and without a shadow of doubt that it may be a scam. (of course, that would be the ideal image). To do this, he has to ban all those who have been 'involved' one way or another. Who knows with all these hacked accounts who may be who.

Just be calm about it and discuss it in private with him if he has enough time. The best you can do is remove all the work you have connected to Karbon and then notify cryptodevil of your actions. I am sure he will be lenient if you provide a proper reason for it and have taken enough actions in removing your work. I would also suggest you also remove your negative trust from his profile. Remember, you can always give negative trust back if you are still mad.

Cryptodevil thanks for contributing to the community and we hope to see many more ICOs busted! Of course, it would be best if there were no scammers in the first place.....
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Announcement Thread on: August 30, 2017, 10:26:42 AM
Well, I had to take a look since the OP has changed its title to a generic one, "Official Announcement Thread." So this Karbon is a confirmed scam? I hope the investors get their money back.

Yes, it looks like they got busted. Unfortunately, I would not think that Investors can get their money back unless an international Law-suit is filed against 'Karbon'. After all, that is the whole point of a Scam ICO - never to give back the earnt funds.

!!! Warning !!!

This ICO has been
exposed as fraudulent

!!! Warning !!!

Anybody wearing their signature or promoting this scam will be tagged with negative trust. Remove your support immediately or face the consequences.

797  Other / Meta / Re: How to combat the surge in scam ICOs on: August 29, 2017, 06:35:51 AM
Huge warning with red and bold text is better idea than ask 1BTC for every ICO thread since scammer could earn more than 1BTC in scam ICO. Ban all ICO thread might works just like when altcoin giveaway is banned from this forum.

The only problem with this is that not everyone goes through each of the pages for an ANN or bounty thread. Some may only go through the first and last. The only way the full impact of the huge red letters could be conveyed is if it had been written on every page of their thread.

Another problem is that it still doesn't combat the mass amount of scam ICOs as they are still allowed to post their thread. Then cryptodevil would still have to investigate all possible scams that are being posted. As stated by cryptodevil, the whole point is not to eliminate it (although would be nice), but to reduce down the number of scammers. That will allow more time to be spent on the harder criminals who have a bigger budget to spend on their scam idea.
798  Other / Meta / Re: How to combat the surge in scam ICOs on: August 28, 2017, 01:48:52 PM
Look at LustICO for example, they have already raised more than 1 BTC and have also been labelled as scammers. Even if they had paid a fee, they would still have surely gone a head with their operation.

The idea would be that 95% of the ICO scams currently being started would be blocked as many of them are literally thrown together for a couple of hundred bucks of expenses at most and wouldn't have the means to raise several thousand to pay a posting fee for an announcement thread. Stopping the plethora of cheap-ass scammers would at least lessen the number to a more manageable degree and allow time to investigate the more devious and determined fraudulent ICOs.

It isn't to say that anybody who paid the fee would be considered legit, no, it is simply to throttle the flood of ICO threads sufficiently that we can at least have a fighting chance of exposing the criminals and the con-artists.

Now that you put it that way- true, it would greatly help the reduction of cheap ICO scams. Still, maybe not 95%, but it would certainly help clear out more time to focus on harder, more dedicated scammers. In terms of value and funds saved through this introduction, I can see the 95 come to play.

Also, if an ICO is clear scam and they have run off with a large sum of money, how often is legal action taken? As the scammer/ scammers may be overseas and that can complicate the problem even more.

Damn, I can't bid then I'm sorry. I need a wi-fi peripheral device like the Netgear one.

If you have any other 'tech' around the house you want to sell, feel free to contact me. I am interested in buying these sort of things.

Oops, I think I phrased my question incorrectly.

Does this USB device work as a wi-fi receiver, like a Netgear AC600? I don't want to broadcast a signal, but just to use the oncoming signal from my main wi-fi router and provide an internet connection to my PC.
