Hope he`s buying up those carbon credits to offset the electrical output of his ASIC mining hardware In France 80% of electricity is made via nuclear. No carbon credits necessary. Green mining in France!!!!

Finally revealed, today in congress we had speculation that the inventor of bitcoin is Al Gore. Good for the laugh of the day.

Did Brito just call Spain 'the third world'?! lol

"I agree with ernie, an open dialogue is good, so we can solve problems as we move forward." come on man, didnt you read orwell, stay away from the platitudes. you're putting us to sleep with meaningless statements You guys are idiots. Thank god we have a clear thinking guy like Murck rather than boneheads who merely stand up to say 'fuck the government'.

Are you guys ready for BTC to $1000?! Let us know when you think it'll happen below. This won't happen until Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

Now talking about what to do to try to keep virtual currency businesses in the USA. This is hyper-positive.
1) 'present laws are good enough' 2) 'virtual currency is not illegal' 3) 'keep jobs in USA' 4) 'just send us more money - that's all' lol. Government is no threat yet. So long as Jennifer is running the show over there, the government is under good guidance and the right philosophy to let bitcoin grow well.

"Without real money" - that's what they think bitcoin is - 'not real money'

The mu confuses people.
There's been a plethora of discussions on this. Consensus gravitated towards the following units: .001 mBTC .000001 µBTC or uBTC .00000001 satoshi
Exactly. Non scientific folks get very nervous with things like 'mu's even mBTC requires an explanation for most people. The explanation gets them uncomfortable and they get suspicious. Just give the fucking thing a proper name and get on with it. 'bitcoin' was the dumbest name anyway. bitcoin is the name of the network and protocol. The name of the currency unit should be something else. Same for 'Satoshi' - second dumbest name ever. Just do something simple and easy like 'Euro'; 'Yen'; 'Peso'. Not everyone who uses this currency system is going to be a nerdy-giggling goofball who like cute silly names for everything.

My suggestion around luke's patch would be the following.
Create a BIP32 key/pair and supply the public part of the key.
Every implementation of the Mastercoin protocol should use this chain and check a list of addresses based on transaction volume of the last 25 blocks. We would start with a gap limit of 50 and retarget this number if the average volume across the last 25 blocks was more then half of this number to avoid collisions. We could also just hardcode a list but this solution should offer a bit more scaling and save some CPU cycles.
Luke is an idiot. We will always find the design around strategy. Mike Hearn listens carefully each day to important information which will make bitcoin work for all - including organized society. Anarchists like Luke - who don't sit in these important meetings - who don't consider both sides of the story - who aren't invited to talk to congress about what is going on - force these rules of idiots. Luke will lose every time. Mike Hearn and congress will find a nice middle road which works for all of society. Anarchists will not interrupt good progress no matter how hard they try. And if Luke tries to stuff it to the Mastercoin protocol, it will take guys like Tachi 5 minutes to write a few lines of code and put Luke back in his place. Trying to stop progress is like trying to unring a bell. Mastercoin is progress on the bitcoin foundation and Luke will not be successful in his attempts to stop it.

1) Has any thought been given to selling a small % of BTC for USD to lock in some of the gains we've made in the development funds and hedge against the risk BTC crashes? Lock in gains!? lol that is funny. You don't 'lock in gains' - you lock out future value. Don't do this idiot move. Only take this step on the day you no longer believe in bitcoin's future. Right now, I'd have to say we are all a bit bullish on bTC Hedging is actually not idiotic at all. It is in fact what most large organizations do... It is certainly not 'idiotic' to think about it and have a plan for it given how volatile BTC is. Let me give you an example. Hedging a certain amount of the outgoing funds would mean the Foundation would have sufficient funds available regardless of any crash in the price of BTC. How's that hedging plan looking now? Hedging is a bet against yourself/your interests. Either you believe in the future ofBTC or you don't . If you don't, go buy facebook shares. I am sure happy the foundation doesn't have guys like you on it to take the funds and place bets against meteoric rise. Now MSC project has $2.0 million to spend rather than 'locking in' $.4 million. Nice.

any new progress on colored coins? :p
Yes. I've mostly finished with p2ptrade. It lacks checks and cuts corners in some places, but is able to make transactions. Here's the first transaction made using ngccc's p2ptrade: https://blockchain.info/tx/fb5656cafe75c5723152b128c6c52b5514787d34125a303908dc018bdd048410I hope we'll be able to make a demo release in a couple of days. We already have almost all components in place, but it works only in dev configuration. Also we might need some testing/debugging/improvements etc. We are also pretty close to a beta release: while there are things which need to be improved, they aren't numerous, and having a big team we can do a lot of work in a short time frame. I'll bet MSC distributed exchange will have 10,000 transactions before you have 100.

I'd like to hear from JR regarding Test Mastercoin and value. Does he expect that Test Mastercoin will always hold a near zero value? Or, rather does he expect one day they will attain some 'little brother' status and be traded for value. I don't know if I should cling to mine or toss them about as if they are worthless. What gives?
How are you supposed to escrow transactions if you ask such questions? Perfectly. Whether or not TestMSC has value will have no effect whatever on my ability to transfer MSC to others. Any more questions?

My friend told me about something he said is 'Bitcoin/Mastercoin'. Where can I find out more about that? I don't see it on these threads here.
You could find some interesting stuff in the Project Development forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=12.0. It's no so obvious that is the place where most activity about Mastercoin is going on. Maybe the mod will eventually start a sub forum for Mastercoin as most of the threads and posts there are Mastercoin anyway. It'd sure be easier to find stuff that way.

the hacker then spends the coins and these coins are spent again and again
Hacker can't spend coins on reserve. They just sit there in the penalty box waiting for the reserve time to expire.

It is now time to fork bitcoin. There is no reason to have only one.
With new efforts to integrate user identities - there is now a very big divide between two competing schools of thought. Each can go down their respective paths without interfering with the progress of the others. The one thing necessary for this to occur - exists wonderfully.
To create Bitcoin1 and Bitcoin2, we'd need to divide the processing power. Fortunately, we presently have more than twice the processing power that is necessary. The network is a perfect capacity for being split.
Bitcoin1 can go on with the anarchists/outlaws who hate all government involvement and despises law and order. Bitcoin2 can intergrate things which improve decent use in an orderly society.
Time to Fork Bitcoin.

What the hell!!!! That is some serious shitake. Does everyone know Peter Todd is involved with this kind of activity? I see a crash coming when this gets out.

Is this how you intend to 'build' your project? - just make a 1000 memes and declare it so. If you have a gun in the house I suggest you remove it. Your grand failure is more imminent than you think.
