I'm fairly good with electronics, I was thinking I might just build my own rig.
I don't think I would have to solder anything right? Just ribbon connections? and ports and such,
I just fixed my girlfriends broken lcd screen, that was easy in my book.

Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 w/ Boost (Go for about 360$ each, I could just buy  two of those, and try to mine with a lower KH, when I make more money buy more GPUs?
Lepa G1600-MA 1600 Watt power supply
Axiomtek FAB-113 8x PCIe PICMG backplane
Commell FS-A72 Single Board Computer PICMG 1.3
Intel Celeron E1200 Dual-Core 1.6 Ghz CPU
2 GB DDR3 SDRAM

You're asking me? How the hell should I know?! Wink  So you're looking at least $350 for a PSU, eh? Well, since you're good with electronics, I have two 2000w server PSUs and I'd be willing to give you one if you think you have enough confidence to configure for your use.
782  Other / Off-topic / Re: I don't know what else to do. Forgive me for this. Worth a shot. on: February 04, 2014, 06:32:39 AM
Well, keep us posted on your hardware list and what you decide to do. When I was putting my wishlist together, a member offered (I didn't ask, of course) me 3 hard drives he had lying around, saving me the cost. I have some extra stuff I don't need at the moment, and it's only fair if I pass the kind act on.

So what type of miner were you looking to get anyways?
I'm torn between a scrypt miner at about 1.9-2.5 MH, scrypt mining, I could easily get into alot of altcoins, and get into the booms quickly by mining bulk. For example if I would of had one a month ago, could of gotten alot of dogecoin and sold when it peaked.

Or a 200GH bitcoin miner, but I'm so convinced that difficulty is rising so quickly by the time I would be able to get it running (about a month from now if I work really hard to gather funds) It would be usless and not able to profit.

Or am I just being stupid? Do I have to spend 20k just to have a chance at mining?

Nah, I don't think you have to spend 20k to realize some gain with mining. But it's definitely too late to jump onto the bitcoin bandwagon, but lots of people fare well mining and trading alt coins. 2.5MH is still relatively low, but depending on what you mine and whether you decide actively trade, the potential to realize some gain isn't far fetched.

So I take it you haven't actually purchased any mining equipment yet?
Nope, been saving since January, I had enough at one point, but I kept pushing to save more for a better rig, then I lost a decent sum of it.
Oh well.....

So I'm asking probing questions about your potential mining equipment for a reason. There are some of us who may not feel comfortable donating coins, don't need your services, or whatever - but we may have some extra equipment lying around that we'd be willing to give away for offer at a lower cost. You never know... you say you used to mine, surely have some left over hardware, right?

It was just to learn the commands, I was using my macbook's GPU on a linux dis, so I don't really have anything to offer but some cash, or BTC if you so wish.  The macbook wouldn't do well, I got about 10 satoshis, 1 dogecoin, and 10 USD-E coins out of it. 10kh isn't much to work with but I know how to setup rigs now.

If I could get something useful/profitable for 1500$-2000$ I would be so greatful you have no clue.

a few of us rich investors and donaters do look for good causes. the only problem is that you do not seem to want to help yourself.

you say you earn under $300 a month = $75 a week = 10 hours or less per week.

you moan that you only make this amount yet you cannot be bothered to improve your circumstances

Quote
I wasn't trying to get a job in the begining

you say you were not looking for large donations, but i have to make this entirely clear to you right now:
rent, utility bills, food and transport to work average out as well over $1000 a month. currently you live with your mothers so you so far do not see the true costs of living on your own. and any small donation of pennies wont help you move out.

i suggest you get a job that is more then 2 hours a day for 5 days a week / or 2 days of 5 hours (whatever your circumstance is). and work more hours. this way for 1. your earning more 2.your not sat in your mothers basement depressing yourself for as much of the day as you currently are.

if you truly want out of your situation you need to do 5 hours a day minimum. even if you have school/college doing an evening job of 5pm to 10pm is possible. plus your not at home for those hours, which would be beneficial to your mental health. also when you do get a place of your own. being home alone can be boring, so working can give you the mental stimulation, social expereince and prevent boredom.

and lastly  if you moan that a job would leave you with no social life, then you personally do not have the true energy and desire to change your circumstances, and as such asking other people to waste their energy on you is hypocritical.

PS. i too was looking to see if there were any job offerings i could give you. but looking at the facts about your so called website design experience. im not now

OP, franky1 made a few valid points here...

*sigh* It's fine, it's usually my luck anyway, I always fuck things up somehow, I wasn't trying to get a job in the begining, was just looking for support then I dug up my old portfolio...that I never finished. I have some actual work of mine lying around on a flashdrive somewhere, but I haven't had the time...

I'm sorry I mislead you. This is why I want to give up though, I always manage to make myself look bad, one way or another.
One misunderstanding, and another and another...with family and friends. Maybe it's the mirrors I broke as a kid.

I wasn't trying to get a job as honestly I don't know if I can hold a house right now, I was looking for support because I could get thrown out any day now and I was trying to get donations, but that didn't fare well so I backed off of that and just kind of turned this into a venting post, but I'm giving up now. I'm sorry for wasting everyone time. Thank you for the ones that cared enough to PM me....
You didn't waste anyone's time. We chose to click on your thread, we chose to respond to it. If it were such a waste of time, you wouldn't have been entertained. And don't give up on your ambitions so quickly. Okay, maybe give up here, but not in general.

So what type of miner were you looking to get anyways?
787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoins do you have (poll)? on: February 04, 2014, 05:34:56 AM
wow surprising poll, I figured this forum was filled with bitcoin millionaires, when in fact most people little to no coin.
we are here because we want to be bitcoin millionaires....the bitcoin millionaires are sipping martinis by the beach....
lol +

Exactly. And besides... why brag if you own a large sum of coins? All you'd be doing is marking yourself as a target. I'll never share the number of coins in my cold storage. It's my number and nobody can have it.
788  Other / Off-topic / Re: 11 year old attempts suicide after bullying over my little pony :-( on: February 04, 2014, 05:24:28 AM
Poor baby. My heart goes out to him and his family - I hope he fully recovers.

Sad thing is, I feel terrible for the bullies too. When they get older and realize the role they played, the guilt will either haunt them relentlessly, or they'll forever carry hatred in their hearts. Either way, it's going to weigh heavy on their souls unless they can forgive themselves.
789  Other / Off-topic / Re: I don't know what else to do. Forgive me for this. Worth a shot. on: February 04, 2014, 05:12:38 AM
OP hopefully things will get better for you soon. I won't tell you how you should spend your money; that's your decision to make, just make sure you fully evaluate your circumstances.

... I'm not defending anyone's behavior on this thread, but please don't take it personal if/when you're looked at as a scam. Look at from everyone else's point of view.

And to those who have absolutely no tact: Are you not able to express your opinion without name calling? Sometimes I feel like I'm in elementary school! Granted, the majority of posts asking for coins are obvious scams, but some could be genuine... of course we have people so eager to identify a scam they're making accusations based on nothingness.
790  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: btcQuick.com Feedback Thread on: February 04, 2014, 04:05:28 AM
Wow. I just signed up with btcQuick when looking for ways to buy bitcoin faster and I ran into two problems. The first was related to the credit card verification and not having any place to enter the amounts charged. The second was for signing a bitcoin message with my address to allow direct deposits. I submitted two help tickets through the web interface and received responses within 5 minutes. They even fixed both issues in under 10 minutes. I'm pretty impressed.

So the site is back up and running!!!! I've been waiting for this day Smiley

Where's the 'None of the Above' option?! Okay, I admit I'd record me hubbie doing the hanky panky for a few coins... actually, we have our own private collection, so I did that for free already! hehe But when is digital content ever safe from distribution to the masses?

And how do we know she got bitcoins in exchange for her services? Did I read over the article that fast I skipped that part?

And one more thing... she got paid for making porn, not for prostitution. I'm sure in the porn industry no one has sex without getting paid.

And lastly... what's the worst that can happen to her? She ends up getting rich and famous like that Kardashian chick?

792  Economy / Gambling / Re: CoinBet Casino, Sportsbook - Now offering up to 200% Match Bonus up to $10,000! on: February 04, 2014, 01:51:17 AM
Did the owner abandon ship? I e-mailed him a couple days ago  about something totally unrelated to what went down and he hasn't answered back.

Also, did CNBC look into the credibility of coinbet before they wrote this? (tried to link, wouldn't work, just google cnbc coinbet)

Interesting. I really had high hopes this casino to pan out. Also, it's only a press release... so CNBC don't have to verify what's in the advertisement.

Late reg is still open... but what's the password?

Lucky Cris apologies as we are just seeing this.  We will have a another 100 chip freeroll next week and the password is given out by the grindabit team.  It's a sponsored freeroll.

No worries Smiley  Heck, I just appreciate the freerolls... I'm not a very good player but they're allowing me to sharpen the lil skills I have Wink  Is there another thread for the grindabit team? Forgive me, I don't keep up on the poker threads much, but I sense that'll be changing soon.

798  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan needed of .1 btc on: February 02, 2014, 10:00:28 PM
Well, nothing really. I did a quick glance through it. I had good luck until this particular one. So i was willing to take the chance.

I'm not going to beat myself up over it. It was an honest shot i gave to someone. I give people the benefit of the doubt until i'm wronged.

I've been wronged, so the bank is closed. It was a smaller loan, so it is what it is.

Also, as a new member i know it's hard to garner the trust of others so it's nice to have someone take a chance on you.

I had someone take a chance on me, it worked for the both of us. Was hoping to reciprocate that for another fellow member.

No doubt, I get your rationale... was just wondering why you selected this request over the dozens of others is all. I don't think you should lose faith in humanity because you selected the wrong advert Wink but lesson learned I'm sure. Now I'm sure you see why the demand for collateral is valid.
799  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan needed of .1 btc on: February 02, 2014, 09:41:43 PM
I weigh the risk. I'm willing to take a chance on certain people. I know the feeling when you're down to your last few coins or last few bucks. It's nice to have someone offer assistance on your word.

But, once I've been wronged... It will ruin it for the rest. I have faith he will repay, otherwise I wouldn't have supplied it. Smiley

Don't blame ya... but the thing I don't get is why you had faith in this particular advertisement? There's nothing in OP's post history that should've been cause to drop your guard.
