So what type of miner were you looking to get anyways?
I'm torn between a scrypt miner at about 1.9-2.5 MH, scrypt mining, I could easily get into alot of altcoins, and get into the booms quickly by mining bulk. For example if I would of had one a month ago, could of gotten alot of dogecoin and sold when it peaked. Or a 200GH bitcoin miner, but I'm so convinced that difficulty is rising so quickly by the time I would be able to get it running (about a month from now if I work really hard to gather funds) It would be usless and not able to profit. Or am I just being stupid? Do I have to spend 20k just to have a chance at mining? Nah, I don't think you have to spend 20k to realize some gain with mining. But it's definitely too late to jump onto the bitcoin bandwagon, but lots of people fare well mining and trading alt coins. 2.5MH is still relatively low, but depending on what you mine and whether you decide actively trade, the potential to realize some gain isn't far fetched. So I take it you haven't actually purchased any mining equipment yet? Nope, been saving since January, I had enough at one point, but I kept pushing to save more for a better rig, then I lost a decent sum of it. Oh well..... So I'm asking probing questions about your potential mining equipment for a reason. There are some of us who may not feel comfortable donating coins, don't need your services, or whatever - but we may have some extra equipment lying around that we'd be willing to give away for offer at a lower cost. You never know... you say you used to mine, surely have some left over hardware, right?

It was just to learn the commands, I was using my macbook's GPU on a linux dis, so I don't really have anything to offer but some cash, or BTC if you so wish. The macbook wouldn't do well, I got about 10 satoshis, 1 dogecoin, and 10 USD-E coins out of it. 10kh isn't much to work with but I know how to setup rigs now. If I could get something useful/profitable for 1500$-2000$ I would be so greatful you have no clue.

Well, keep us posted on your hardware list and what you decide to do. When I was putting my wishlist together, a member offered (I didn't ask, of course) me 3 hard drives he had lying around, saving me the cost. I have some extra stuff I don't need at the moment, and it's only fair if I pass the kind act on. So what type of miner were you looking to get anyways?

You're asking me? How the hell should I know?! So you're looking at least $350 for a PSU, eh? Well, since you're good with electronics, I have two 2000w server PSUs and I'd be willing to give you one if you think you have enough confidence to configure for your use.

You say that now. Research how to convert those damn things and tell me if you still feel the same, lol. And the last thing I need is for you to burn the house down or shock yourself. If you were buying, I'd assume you knew what you were getting into. But since I offered, I want to be able to give to you without having to worry about your soldering skills.

IMO this thread is actually rather educational for OP. Besides, who exactly here is "making undue claims in an overbearing manner; that species of pride which consists in exorbitant claims of rank, dignity, estimation, or power, or which exalts the worth or importance of the person to an undue degree; proud contempt of others; lordliness; haughtiness; self-assumption; presumption"? ('arrogance', Webster's Dictionary) ...besides these assholes who copy & paste dictionary of course I fail to see arrogance here, and I even think OP was satisfied with at least some of the advice given here.

I started doing the research and got excited about converting it, but the fear of shocking myself got the best of me. I think there's someone on this forum that's selling custom made connectors for it. Here's an eBay link. It's a Delta DPS 2000BB A PSU No I didn't pay that much for it, this advertisement is really overpriced, or are costs going up that quick?! At any rate... happy mining!!!

Yeah I like this thread, good read.
I find myself never giving to beggars on the street but I have given a few people dollar's to people who either seem really stuck or are trying to change their life. I remember a couple weeks ago there was a homeless guy hanging outside a 7-11 and he was singing and welcoming everyone to 7-11 and asking for any help. I gave him a dollar and he thanked me a couple times for my generosity. He got a lot of help from so many people, maybe he was all bull but people feel good about helping others.

Yea, things are going alot better now, I just was in such a depressed mood, I needed input from the community, I got my miner finally, just waiting on it from Singapore. Adding another GPU after I make my first 350

Believe it or not, the same hour when I was kind of turning down that poor OP here, I went to the station to buy something an a girl outside seemed totally lost, and she was missing a few bucks to take a cab to her destination. I didn't want to give here anything in the first place, besides advice -- remember I'm arrogant In the end, she ended up crying, and I just gave her 5€ so that she could take her cab. I tried to cheer her up and she seemed so relieved, I wonder how long she had been staying there. I'm not heartless and the monkey theory that someone mentioned here is quite true. And who knows, maybe I even ended up giving OP a small donation
