205 eur for 410Mhash/s. card has mined 10btc for me so far. I'm amazed by how inefficient a lot of these builds are that seem to be the norm. I'm curious, how many of you guys at the 1Mhash/$ or below level are near having your setups repaying themselves?
quite far away from that, even though it's 1.4Mhash/$. problem is, each mined bitcoin costs about 3.20 eur for me (0.22 eur / kWh), so it will take quite a while to have the card pay for itself, if it's even gonna happen at all. |

get 12x 4U rigs, a 48U rack and cool your 16kW with an a/c. expected cost: around 30k eur without a/c. 3x 5990/6990 per rig, 1.5kW PSU (enermax has a 80+ gold 1.5kW PSU), random board/ram/cpu. you'll need 4x 32Amps for the rack and another one for your a/c. very space efficient.

ich bin gespannt, wann die ersten bitcoin-vertreter bei anne will auftauchen. gestern die sendung war ja mal wieder hervorragend intelektuell. ich glaube, der kurs ist relativ egal, solang das netzwerk aufrecht erhalten werden kann. gibt es zu wenige miner (weil es sich nicht lohnt zu minen) wird es probleme mit den transaktionen geben. das wurde aber auch schon hunderttausend mal durchgekaut. es bleibt anzunehmen, dass der preis von bitcoins fuer geschaeftsleute, die in mining investieren, profitabel bleibt. ob das in zukunft dann immernoch mit gaming-hardware passieren wird, ist fragwuerdig. zu diesem zeitpunkt lohnt es sich dann nicht mehr fuer kleine unternehmen, zu expandieren. diejenigen, die sich jetzt aber schon relativ etabliert haben und regelmaessige gewinne machen, koennen sich mehr oder weniger zuruecklehnen, weil der preis nicht von heute auf morgen in den keller gehen wird. die anschaffungskosten neuer rigs ruecken verhaeltnismaessig in den hintergrund, sodass nur noch ein auge auf verbrauch und erzeugung geworfen werden muss. zu diesem zeitpunkt (siehe meine kleine demonstration hier: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=25970.msg324082#msg324082 ) darf der kurs hierfuer noch einige male halbiert werden, bis mining unprofitabel wird. ich selbst bin kein grosser fan von der idee, mit mining geld zu machen, allerdings hat sie auch ihre notwendigkeit. waere es nicht profitabel, wuerde das netzwerk zusammenbrechen. es bleibt natuerlich zu hoffen, dass es in zukunft mehr dienste geben wird, die bitcoins anbieten. ich halte es auch fuer notwendig, den client so zu gestalten, dass er fuer jedermann einfach zu bedienen ist. es gibt unendlich moeglichkeiten, die handhabung von transaktionen zu vereinfachen, aber bisher hat noch keiner die notwendigkeit (die natuerlich kosten mit sich bringen) dafuer gesehen. kleine bemerkung: ja, mein dritter abschnitt kann als teufelskreis aufgefasst werden. sowas gibt sich aber meist von alleine, wenn grosse firmen, fuer die die relativ kleinen entwicklungsgelder fuer die verbesserung von den bitcoin transaktionsmoeglichkeiten peanuts sind, sich einmischen. denke ich. edit: und ja, es ist natuerlich erschreckend, wie wenig in letzter zeit auf mt.gox gehandelt wird. ich hoffe, dass das bald wieder etwas angekurbelt wird  |

idk, if i use only my amd card, i can change the voltage, but once i set up my two cards, i can't change the voltage on the amd card, either. it's still possible to change the voltage on my 2nd card, a nvidia, though. seems weird, maybe you find a way to figure it out. you won't need more than 1.1V to get to around 920MHz, in fact i thing it's less productive. there's a reason why the gpu gets 1.1V at default clock. it's probably where the least leakage flows occur. i've tweaked my settings quite a bit, running on 407Mhash/s at 920MHz core and 310MHz memory now. still at 1.1V, 240W total system power consumption. |

wieviele leute hier noch mit solchen hash werten rechnen, meiner meinung nach ist alles unter 2-3Ghash fast schon zeitverschwendung, geld verdient man damit shcon lange nichtmehr.
Ich bin auch am überlegen die kisten abzuschalten.
annahme: alles unter 1Mhash/s pro W ist verschwendung. mal schauen, ob wir recht haben: was ist 1 Mhash/s pro stunde wert? 1 Mhash/s = 1*60*60 Mhash/h, wir rechnen also 3.6Ghashes pro stunde aus. btc/h = 50*1/((1379192.28822808*2^32)/(3.6*10^9)) = 3.03869999 * 10^-5 das dick gedruckte = durchschnittliche zeit fuer die generation von einem block, 1/T = frequenz. jetzt haben wir 3.03869999 * 10^-5 btc fuer 0.001kWh. also 0.03 btc pro kWh. das waeren bei derzeitigen preisen (1btc= $14.5) $0.435 pro kWh. meine kWh kostet 22eurocents, also $0.32. immerhin noch ein gewinn von $0.115 pro stunde bzw. +36%. das ist sehr wohl noch motivation, weiterzuminen. natuerlich sind das peanuts, wenn man nicht mehrere kW in mining power investiert - selbst ein 1Ghash/s system (wie unten dann angenommen) produziert nur $10 pro tag, ohne die stromkosten zu beruecksichtigen. deine kisten solltest du noch lange nicht abschalten, wenn du nicht gerade ein sehr gutes angebot fuer deine alte hardware bekommen hast. falls das hier missverstanden wird: ich will zeigen, dass selbst bei einer effizienz von 1Mhash/s pro W noch profite zu holen sind. real sind natuerlich eher 1.5-2.0 Mhash/s pro W. |

ich weiss nicht, longpolling passiert ja nur alle 5-15 minuten einmal. das wuerde dann 1 stale share bedeuten (bei askrate=2). bei 350 shares/h sind das etwa 1-2% stale. ich bekomm immer sowas schoenes (relativ haeufig): ...

Um MSI Afterburner freizuschalten, damit man den GPU-Speichertakt weniger als z.B. 625 Mhz takten kann, braucht man nur folgende Zeilen in die MSIAfterburner.cfg eintragen:

Funktioniert einwandfrei bei meinen Systemen, und man braucht nicht Unmengen an Tools.

danke fuers aufmerksam machen - wusste nicht einmal, dass es den 3% "fix" gibt. 385->398, allerdings gerade gut 10% stale (27/3)  aber die grosse zahl wird das hoffentlich noch druecken. benutzt ihr ne work queue von mehr als 1? |

ich hab mir zu diesem zweck ne 6950 gekauft, da sich die shader problemlos freischalten lassen. fuer 200€ relativ guenstig, produziert zzt 390Mhash/s bei 900MHz@1.1V. zum zocken damit kam ich leider noch nicht, hab aber noch ne gtx460 im rechner, die "reicht" mehr oder weniger auch noch. ich dachte ja, als ich angefangen hatte, zu minen, dass ich innerhalb von 60 tagen genug zusammen haette, um mir ne 6990 zu kaufen, tri-fire all the way! das war aber nichts. ich glaube aufgrund der tatsache, dass man die fehlenden shader der 6950 freischalten kann, ist es die beste investition bei AMD. wenn es um reines gaming geht, wuerde ich natuerlich eher zur konkurrenz gehen die rennen halt viel sauberer /nvidiafanboy. |

i also cant overclock it more than 840mhz, its all afterburner will go to! the memory clock wont change even if i change it in CCC or after burner
its always 1250 mhz !!!!!!! gurrrr i have also changed the afterburner config file ........
what else can i try to help this card oc a bit ?!??!?!?
msi afterburner doesn't support overclocking beyond the limit without editing the MSIAfterburner.cfg. [ATIADLHAL]

i don't really know why the cost to produce them should scale with the price. there are 6 million bitcoins out there which were basically free. why would you want to make these people rich? no reason at all. i'm starting to lose hope. i told myself i won't sell my mined coins below $20, but we'll probably never get there again.
the thing with bitcoins is - those who trade with them do it because they can turn them into $. they have value because of the benefits drug dealers see in them. wow.

ok, im getting 408.9Mhs with 920mhz set with trixx as it can work with ccc and leaves power +20% on
the new afterburner beta allows keeping power at +20%, too. i spoke too soon, and they dont seem to work that well after reboot. ccc would just be blank screen and gpu would be acting as if power control had been disabled again... maybe rbe bios mod might be only way left but it sounds risk particularly if you dont have bios switch or backup video output
920 without voltage increase sounds a bit too much. i don't quite understand why you get 410Mhash/s, though, because i got just a little bit more at 1000 @1.2V (which is not efficient) theres no point underclocking your mem that much or more
it saved me quite some Watts, though. |

How much of a boost can unlocking hte shaders give me with the current OC'ing level?
about 10%, so 30Mhash/s cus I've read that I can get up to 430MHash/s on that card.
that's when you oc to more than 1GHz and enable power boost. i did only get about 420Mhash/s, but it eats about 1/4 more electricity for an increase of 10% (getting 390Mhash/s at 900MHz) If I was to move back to mining solo (as my current pool doesn't seem to work the way I expect it to do nymore),how long would my card do if it was unlocked to get my 1st 50BTC (as I really need to payoff my upgrades within a few months)?
it would take too much time, it all depends on your luck, though. if you desperately need to payoff your upgrades asap, you're screwed. |

Who knows you may even start a craze of server managers installing Graphics cards in their servers to mine for bitcoins or namecoin or whatever.
aren't servers usually 2U? a graphics card won't fit in these. |
